The trend of publications in the Journal of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics: A 6-year systematic survey of the journal

Abstract Objectives: The Journal of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (JCDE) is an English-language journal published by the Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. It was indexed in PubMed in 2010 in periodical publications. The purpose of this paper was to review and analyze the publications in JCDE over the 6 years from 2019 to 2024. Materials and Methods: This article evaluated the subject, number, and type of articles published, key topics addressed, authorship patterns, and article citations of the JCDE over the last 6-year period. Results: A total of 750 papers were found, and the publication output peaked in 2024 when 133 articles were published. On average, each volume had 1.5 times as many publications on endodontic topics compared to restorative topics. An average of eleven articles per volume addressed multidisciplinary or other dental disciplines. Original research articles followed by literature reviews and case reports/series accounted for the most articles per volume. The most of the authors were from India followed by the Middle East, America, and other Asian countries. With about 2802 citations, the 2019 issue had the most citations. Esthetic Dentistry was the main topic in the top 10 most cited articles. JCDE has the 7th-highest h5-index across both endodontic and operative dentistry journals. Conclusions: Many manuscripts in endodontics, dental materials, restorative dentistry, and a few other pertinent specializations have been published in JCDE over the past 6 years.

Predicting the time to first citation for medical articles using survival analysis and the association between this time and citation counts

Abstract Thailand is transitioning to a knowledge-based economy that relies on a highly skilled workforce and the leveraging of innovative research. This has led to top universities aiming to become world-class institutions. However, Thai universities’ citation indicators still need to be improved, meaning that bibliometric research is needed to find appropriate new strategies for achieving this. We investigated bibliometric data for Thailand and made a comparison with Malaysia. Appropriate models for predicting the time to first citation were also found. Survival analysis and Cox regression were applied in the prediction models. The sample used consisted of 2000 medical articles with authors from four universities. Slight differences were found between the bibliometric data for Thailand and Malaysia. The journal quality was found to be a strong predictor of the time to first citation. Several other statistically significant main variables and interaction variables were found, including the number of citations. Citation counts remain a recognized indicator of research potential. Faster publication can increase the number of citations, but care needs to be taken regarding self-citation. It is notable that Malaysian universities have a higher proportion of cross-disciplinary publications compared with Thai universities.

Article Retraction in Otolaryngology Journals: A Thirty Year Analysis.

To gain insight into the integrity of research in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery (OHNS) literature through characterising retracted articles, analysing the reason for their retraction, and the trends in the collected data. Pubmed, Embase, and Retraction Watch Database were queried for retracted articles published between the dates of 1/31/92 and 9/30/22. Articles with titles relating to OHNS subjects and published in OHNS journals, as determined by Scimago Journal and Country Ranking, were selected for further analysis. Variables recorded included journal name, journal impact factor, article type, article subspecialty subject, reason for retraction, whether re-published, number of authors, time to retraction, and article citations. Based on title and article content, 245 articles related to the field of OHNS were identified, of which 68 were published in OHNS journals and analysed for reason of retraction. Of those, 16 (23.5%) were replaced due to erratum concerns (spelling, formatting, etc.) rather than content or data-related issues and were excluded. Among the 52 (76.5%) permanent retractions the most common reasons for retraction include article duplication (n = 26), concerns/issues/errors with data (n = 7), and plagiarism (n = 5). The median time between publication and retraction was 2 years (range, 0-19). The median impact factor was 1.64 (range, 0.08-4.68). The median number of citations per article was 7 (range, 0-86). Retractions continue to occur in the field of OHNS despite increasing education in ethical publication standards and safeguards. There are, however, improved time intervals to retraction indicating improved surveillance of published articles.

Heterogeneous distribution of the reported prevalence of Dirofilaria immitis infections in Australian canids - A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Reports of Dirofilaria immitis infection vary by location in the USA and Europe, with an occurrence gradient increasing towards the equator and warmer climates. In Australia, heartworm preventative guidelines are not climate specific, implying homogenous risk of infection across the continent. We systematically reviewed the published literature to assess if the distribution of D. immitis infection varies in Australia. We sourced 41 relevant publications by searching multiple bibliographic databases and the citations of key articles. From those, we extracted the data from a total of 106 individual surveys of variable size and quality. The reported prevalences ranged from 0.0 % to 100.0 % and we meta-analysed the observed heterogeneity using survey location's latitude, climate zone or temperature/humidity zone. Crude heterogeneity between surveys was partly explained (approximately 30 %) by temperature/humidity zone, and the quality of the surveys did not affect the proportional explanation of heterogeneity. There was significantly higher pooled prevalence in humid summer zones (18.7 %, 95 %CI: 10.9-30.1 %) compared to cool winter zones (2.1 %, 95 %CI: 1.0-4.3 %). Historical reports of D. immitis infection in Australia concur with the strong association to warmer climates observed in other continents. The current blanket recommendation for dirofilariosis preventative usage does not reflect the important variability of infection risk to canids across locations of Australia.

Why are some articles highly cited in applied linguistics? A bibliometric study

Abstract This study investigated factors influencing the citations of highly cited applied linguistics research over two decades. With a pool of 302 of the top 1% most cited articles in the field, we identified 11 extrinsic factors that were independent of scientific merit but could significantly predict citation counts, including journal-related, author-related, and article-related features. Specifically, the results of multiple linear regression models showed that the time-normalized article citations were significantly predicted by the number of authors, subfield, methodology, title length, CiteScore, accessibility, and scholar h-index. The remaining factors did not exhibit any statistical significance, including the number of references, funding, internationality, and geographical origin. The combined predictive power of all these factors (R²=.208, p<.05) verifies the role of nonscientific factors contributing to high citations for applied linguistics research. These results encourage applied linguistics researchers and practitioners to recognize the underlying forces affecting research impact and highlight the need for a reward system that exclusively favors sound academic practices.

A bibliometric analysis of 30years of research on transarterial radioembolization (TARE) for hepatocellular carcinoma.

Patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have very limited treatment options, among which transarterial radioembolization (TARE) receives increasing attention, relying on its promising efficacy and fewer side effect. However, a bibliometric analysis of TARE for HCC is still lacking. This study employed bibliometric methods to analyze the related articles over the past three decades, and aimed to identify trends in clinical research comparing TARE to other treatments. Articles related with TARE for HCC were obtained from the Web of Science (WoS). After screening, the R package Bibliometrix was employed to explore the primary bibliometric characteristics. The number of publications was analyzed and mathematically fitted to a curve using Microsoft Excel 2021 and SPSS 25, and then was plotted in the graph using GraphPad Prism 8.0. VOSviewer, SCImago Graphica, and Pajek were utilized for the analysis of researchers' co-authorship, co-occurrence, and visualization. Keywords citation burst was detected by CiteSpace software. A total of 1,110 articles from 1993 to 2023 were included in our final analysis, among which the United States not only ranked the first in term of the number of published articles, also was at the forefront in other important indicators, including the total number of article citations and the average citation frequency. Riad Salem from Northwestern University, also being the organization with the greatest number of research papers, was the most active author and has published 96 papers. The keywords were classified into three clusters: 90Y microspheres for TARE, Basic research on TARE, and Clinical trial of TARE for HCC. Furthermore, we identified the most frequently cited keywords with strong citation bursts since 2020 were "multicenter," "overall survival" and "PET/CT." Our study employed a bibliometric approach to achieve the visualization research on TARE for HCC, and further revealed the trends and frontiers of TARE research, providing valuable information for researchers to identify the critical and persistent challenges and select potential partners in related area. Based on our analysis, future research focus include the clinical comparative studies on the effect of TARE and TACE combined with immunotherapies or targeted therapy, dosimetry, and personalized TARE therapy for HCC.

Bibliometric Analysis of the Scientific Impact of Single-Authored Articles in Brazilian Journals of Information

This research aims to describe the scientific impact of single-authored articles published in Brazilian journals in information-related fields (Archival, Library Science, Information Science and Museology) between 2009 and 2017. This is a bibliometric study of a descriptive character, with an applied quantitative methodological approach. The ABCDM database, the Harzing’s Publish or Perish software and the Lattes Platform were used for data collection, which were then fed into and analyzed as Excel table and SPSS (t-test). From 1680 single-authored articles, 313 were randomly selected for study. Main results regarding the authorship were: 55.12% of authors had more single-authored articles than multiple-authored articles; 67.36% of the most cited articles were single-authored. Main results regarding the articles were: 35.10% of single-authored articles were the most frequently cited among an author’s entire body of work; in 49.67% of the cases, the average number of citations of single-authored articles exceeded the authors’ total average number of citations; in 50.00% of cases, the average number of citations of single-authored articles exceeded the average number of citations of multiple-authored articles. The average number of citations of single-authored articles exceeded the average number of citations of multiple-authored articles and of articles in general.

Editorial: Institutional Repository of the Kyiv Medical University: A New Open Access Database for Authors and Peer-Reviewed Journals

Open access repository is a database, or a virtual archive established to collect, disseminate and preserve scientific output like scientific articles and datasets and to make them freely available. An institutional repository is one of four types of repositories. The purposes of this article are (1) to highlight the most important points of the Regulation on the Institutional Repository of the Kyiv Medical University (IRKMU) and (2) to explain the advantages for authors and peer-reviewed journals of colonization of the repository of such type. Also, this paper highlights the experience of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Journal of Diagnostics and Treatment of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (JDTOMP) in depositing peer-reviewed articles in this repository. The Regulation on the IRKMU was put into effect by Order No. 29 of January 26, 2024. In the same year, all structural units of the university, including dental departments, joined the process of depositing their scientific and clinical works. The IRKMU was created using the open-source software DSpace, which supports the Open Access Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) data exchange protocol, allowing the repository to be integrated into the international registers of the Registry of Open Access Repositories (ROAR), Directory of Open Access Repositories (OpenDOAR), and other search engines. The article is reinforced with screenshots of the stages of depositing data of scientific works. Carlile Butterfield and colleagues (2022) emphasized, that despite all benefits, however, their research indicates that it can be difficult to encourage all faculties to upload the research reports onto the institutional repository. Moreover, the authors propose a potential route to maximize the number of publications that are uploaded to a university institutional repository. They utilize student workers and the resources of the institutional repository manager to get materials uploaded. The experience of our department consists in attracting a competent editor from the editorial staff of the JDTOMP with appropriate payment for services. In sum, colonizing this new institutional repository as a new database, authors and peer-reviewed journals can and will increase the visibility of their publications. Thus, it can bear fruit in terms of increasing the citation of articles and the journals as well.

Public Relations and Startups in Andalusia

Effective PR management is considered essential in the first years of a startup's life, as it contributes to its viability and sustainability through strategic communication planning. The overall objective of this study is to analyze the startup landscape in Andalusia, Spain, with a special focus on the Public Relations (PR) strategies of women-led companies. Secondary objectives include: 1) To identify trends in female entrepreneurship in Andalusia and their relationship with PR; 2) To analyze the professional profile of women in PR roles in Andalusian startups; and 3) To propose communication strategies aimed at attracting clients and investors. The methodology combines a systematic literature review and a bibliometric analysis with data from Web of Science and VOSviewer, together with a questionnaire applied to 31 Andalusian startups. This approach allowed to analyse patterns in PR management and female representation. The findings show an increase in citations of articles on female entrepreneurship, highlighting the provinces of Malaga and Seville, which account for 61% of entrepreneurial initiatives in the region. Improving policies in these areas could boost businesses performance and the growth of new companies. In addition, the results reveal a growth in female leadership, although it still faces challenges, such as under-representation in senior positions. Key strategies include the use of social media, educational content and collaborations with influencers, which are essential to improve visibility and attract investors. This study highlights the need to strengthen PR in startups, professionalise its management and promote female leadership to foster sustainability and competitiveness in a dynamic environment.

Systematic Literature Review of the Trend on Green Supply Chain Management

Nowadays, the world is facing a crisis of sustainability challenges and industries in developed countries are making strategies to respond to those challenges by implementing green supply chain management. To avoid this effect having a negative impact on the environment, of the various efforts taken by the firm among the steps are taken is to practice green practices in every operating activity of the supply chain way to reduce the impact on the environment. This study aims to present a systematic literature review ofgreen supply chain management practices and examination of examine previous studies on green supply chain management. This study was conducted on the article data collected from the Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus databases between the years 2013 and 2023 using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematics Review and Meta Analyses (PRISMA) approach. The final method consisted of screening 83 articles, and an analysis was carried out to look for patterns of article citation, prior research settings that are nation based and field study use studies in green supply chain. Furthermore, it indicates that the amount of empirical research work on green supply chain management has increased rapidly over the last few years. The development of green supply chain management is notably significant due to its diverse advantages, including improved economic performance, adherence to stakeholder expectations, and the opportunity for innovation via digital transformation. As organisations traverse the intricacies of contemporary supply chains, the incorporation of sustainability into their operations is more essential for enduring success.

Evaluation of the Participation of Brazilian Women in Research in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine.

Despite recent advancements, women still encounter significant challenges in various fields, including dentistry. However, the increasing interest in female participation in science acknowledges its fundamental role in the advancement of knowledge. This study aims to assess indicators of women's involvement in Brazilian research in the areas of Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine. This cross-sectional study evaluated 197 professionals affiliated with the Brazilian Society of Stomatology and Oral Pathology in 2023. Data were collected from publicly available Lattes curriculum and organized into three sets of information: researcher profile, scientific production and human resources formation. Both the data from the researcher's entire career and from the last 5 years (2019-2023) were assessed separately. Descriptive analyses of categorical variables were performed, while the Mann-Whitney test was employed to compare the numerical variables regarding researchers' gender. Of 197 professionals, 117 (59.4%) were female. Although there was no significant difference in scientific production between genders, men had more publications, received approximately twice as many citations, and exhibited higher H-index values compared to women. Notably, women surpassed men in undergraduate student supervision, while men predominated in supervising master's and PhD students. This study highlighted the relevance of female participation in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine research in Brazil. However, disparities persist regarding women participation, especially in scientific article citations and postgraduate students' supervision.

Do open acces journal articles experience citation advantage?

Background of the study: Implementation open access (OA) have pushed journal articles become more visible and increase in citations of articles. Whether it is the general case for authors in all university?. Purpose: The aim of this study is to analyze the advantage of OA on numbers of citations of article journals published by authors from Universitas Surabaya, Indonesia. Method: The methods of analysis employed are descriptive analysis and independent sample t-test. Findings: The results showed three key findings, those are (1) the number of Scopus indexed OA articles at Universitas Surabaya is increased by 23% in 2022, (2) the majority of article publications are in OA journals, representing 70% of the 514 articles in question. (3) The t-test results indicated a significant difference with a value of t = 0.022 and a significance level of p < 0.05. Specifically, the number of citations was found to be higher in articles published in non-OA access journals than those in published in OA journals. Conclusion: The number of citations is not only affected by OA feature but also influenced by various factors, such as the reputation (quartile) of the journal, the scope of research collaboration, and the number of authors.

Analysis of the Citation Network in Scientific Journals

This article presents an analysis of the citation network in scientific journals, with the aim of understanding citation patterns between journals and identifying trends in authorship and citation. To achieve this goal, an extensive set of citations of scientific articles published in journals by Brazilian researchers was compiled. Using network analysis techniques, the citations were modeled as a graph, allowing a systematic visualization and analysis of the citation relationships between journals. The results revealed significant findings on the dynamics of citation in the Brazilian scientific community.

2024 Charles F. Prentice Medal award lecture: Moments of inspiration.

In this Prentice Medal Award lecture, I shall recount my career in vision science in the context of three types of inspiration-"being inspired," "personal inspiration," and "inspiring others." My research has derived inspiration from a variety of sources, such as contemporary and historical research doyens in the ophthalmic field and beyond, artists, Greek philosophers, and abstract constructs such as principles and adages. A given moment of inspiration can range from being a profound experience to a subtle realization during a quiet moment of reflection. Here I shall recount the primary research domains of vision science that have defined my academic career in the context of the three types of inspiration defined above. These research domains are ophthalmic markers of diabetic neuropathy, ocular response to contact lens wear, contact lens-induced parainflammation, contact lens-associated microbial keratitis, grading scales for contact lens complications, contact lens prescribing surveys, material properties of contact lenses, contact lens compliance, history of contact lenses, ocular thermography, and ophthalmic bibliometrics. The notions of "being inspired" and "personal inspiration" are necessarily subjective, although I have endeavored to present them here in a scientific context. Conversely, the notion of "inspiring others" can be objectively gauged, at least in part, by counting article citations or the number of times articles are read online or downloaded from a journal website. In conclusion, my research in the vision sciences has been inspired by others, derived from personal ideas, and perhaps in turn has inspired others.

A Comparative Analysis of Citation Counts in Sinta, Dimensions, and Scopus: A Study of Journals in Islamic Economics, Finance, and Business

This study compared the citation counts of journals in economics, finance, and Islamic business (JEFIB) indexed in three prominent databases: Sinta, Dimensions, and Scopus. JEFIB is indexed in Sinta, with citation data also available from the Dimensions and Scopus databases. A total of five journals were selected from each Sinta category, with the highest citation count from each database—Sinta, Dimensions, and Scopus—being recorded. The citation data were then tabulated for each journal group based on the highest counts from these three databases. The findings reveal that citation counts in Sinta do not always align with those in Dimensions and Scopus, primarily due to differences in the data sources used for citation tracking. Sinta relies on data from Google Scholar, encompassing a broader range of publications, while Dimensions tracks citations from journals indexed by Crossref. Scopus citations, on the other hand, depend on the total number of citations of journal articles included in the Scopus database. Furthermore, the citation counts are influenced by factors such as the number of journal volumes, the total number of published documents, and the accreditation level of the journal. This study underscores the importance of considering citation data from multiple platforms—Sinta, Dimensions, and Scopus—when evaluating the impact of journals within the global academic community.

Scientometric and content analysis‐based review of employees in micro‐level corporate social responsibility research

AbstractIn today's fiercely competitive business climate, organisations face challenges that necessitate the implementation of policies to bolster their strategic advantage, regardless of their size or location. One effective strategy employed by present‐day organizations to attain enhanced effectiveness and competitive edge is corporate social responsibility (CSR). This study presents a comprehensive scientometric analysis evaluating current research on micro‐level CSR. This investigation provides valuable insight into current micro‐level CSR research. Utilizing a science mapping method, 4286 Scopus bibliographic records were quantitatively and systematically examined. The findings reveal the most prolific authors, journals, institutions, countries, article citations and co‐occurrence network of keywords via cluster analysis. Additionally, the qualitative analysis uncovered five distinct micro‐level themes concerning CSR, including concepts, drivers, evaluations, reactions, and research design. This study is the first of its kind, and its findings add valuable insights to the existent knowledge. It provides an exhaustive and current literature review of micro‐level CSR. Trends and patterns of the micro‐level CSR field are visualized and comprehended, and the primary research networks, journals, institutions, and countries, along with their interconnections are identified. Furthermore, it introduces a comprehensive framework that classifies the different categories of micro‐level CSR research. Lastly, it highlights the inadequacies in current research and offers insights for future studies. This study will serve as a point of reference for policymakers, practitioners, and research and development agencies.

Factors Contributing to Early Recovery of Urinary Continence Following Radical Prostatectomy: A Narrative Review.

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common condition in patients following radical prostatectomy (RP), which has a significant impact on all aspects of quality of life and is associated with significant social stigma. The factors that improve urinary incontinence in patients following surgery remain controversial. The aim of our narrative review was to identify and synthesise the latest evidence on pre-, intra- and post-operative factors and predictors that contribute to early continence recovery after RP. In this narrative review, primary resources were identified by searching PubMed, EMBASE and Medline, and secondary resources were collected by cross-referencing citations in the relevant articles. We started our review by searching for systematic reviews of factors and predictors that contribute to early recovery of urinary continence after RP. We then reviewed societal guidelines such as the American Urological Association and European Urological Association guidelines on male urinary incontinence. This review focuses on the pre-, intra and postoperative factors that influence postoperative SUI after RP, as well as highlighting modifications in surgical techniques that lead to early continence recovery. Increasing age, higher BMI, shorter membranous urethral length (MUL), and larger PV are independent prognostic factors for SUI within 3 months after RP. Factors such as modified surgical technique preservation of anatomical structure lead to influence postoperative early continence recovery. SUI after RP is influenced by various factors. These factors include not only anatomical landmarks and patient-related factors such as age, BMI, length of MUL and prostate volume, but also prior transurethral resection or laser enucleation of the prostate, the surgeon's expertise, the surgical approach and NS technique.

Bibliometric Analysis of Articles Published in Acta Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica Between 2013 and 2023

Objective This study aims to perform a bibliometric analysis of articles published in Acta Orthopaedica et Traumatologica Turcica (AOTT) from 2013 to 2023. This analysis highlights trends and structural features in orthopedics and traumatology, offering guidance for future research directions and insights into publication strategies. Methods Articles published in AOTT from January 2013 to December 2023 were analyzed using bibliometric methods. The analysis included article type, number of authors, number of institutions authors worked for, country of the first author, gender of the first author, international collaboration for Turkish authors, citation counts, and numbers of reads and downloads. Results A total of 1035 articles were reviewed, with a significant portion being retrospective studies (44.4%). Basic science studies constituted 16.5% of the total, closely followed by case reports (15.7%). The analysis showed a noticeable diversity in types of contributions over the years. The structure of the institution where the first author worked was a university hospital in 603 articles (58.26%). In 932 articles (90.05%), the gender of the first author was male, and in 103 articles (9.95%), the gender of the first author was female. The total number of authors ranged from 1 to 15 (average: 4.75±1.53, median: 5), and the number of institutions authors worked for averaged 2.24±1.32 (range: 1-14, median: 2). The total number of citations to all articles was 15127. Citation numbers ranged from 1 to 186 (average: 12.78±15.68, median: 8). Conclusion This study reveals the current status and trends of articles published in AOTT over an 11-year period. Although the number of citations of articles published in AOTT in recent years is low, it is obvious that these numbers will increase over time.
