Summary In New Guinea proguanil hydrochloride has proved to be a satisfactory malarial suppressant, provided it is taken regularly and in adequate doses. It has also proved satisfactory for the treatment of malarial fever in natives, but needs reinforcing with quinine to produce the best results in whites. Adequate doses for both suppression and treatment have been worked out.
