Comparison of Intrinsic Elements of Indonesian and German Children's Literature to Enrich Character Education for Indonesian Children

Children's literature has many benefits, including being a medium of entertainment and a medium for character education for children. Children's literature contains various noble values that readers can internalize daily. This research uses two objects of children's literature: the Indonesian children's literature book Dru dan Negeri Lima Kerajaan by Clara Ng and Renata Owen and the German novel Apfelkuchen und Baklava by Kathrin Rohmann. This research aims to compare two intrinsic elements from the two novels as material for character education for students in Indonesia. The intrinsic elements in both novels are characters, setting, theme, and message. The research results show that the intrinsic elements of both novels have symbolic meanings that contain noble values such as patience, courage, kindness, sincerity, acceptance, and openness. Therefore, it can be concluded that the two novels can be used as material for enriching student and Indonesian character education and cultivating global character.

PENINGKATAN KUALITAS HUNIAN PADA PERMUKIMAN PADAT DI RW 02, KELURAHAN KRENDANG, JAKARTA BARAT

The settlement in RW 02, Krendang sub-district, Tambora district, West Jakarta, is a dense and unorganized urban settlement resulting from an unplanned incremental growth process. Apart from poor environmental sanitation conditions, this settlement has a low quality of residential space with very limited natural lighting and ventilation due to the closeness of the buildings and the lack of open space. This settlement is the location for implementing a community service program which aims to help the West Jakarta government deal with the city's slum problem by involving community participation to improve the quality of residential space. The initial program in 2023 aims to open people's minds about the importance of healthy residential spaces, and to make this happen can be done using simple, low-cost methods. In the next stage, sustainable programs will be continued until a model of healthy, low-cost housing is realized in this settlement. A series of community service activities have been carried out with the culmination of counseling activities for social treatment to build collective insight and awareness among residents. The counseling took place at the community hall, attended by RW administrators as well as RT representatives and community leaders within RW 02. The counselor team used pictures of simulation designs for the renovation of multi-purpose buildings and pre-school children's education in RW 02 as counseling aids. Based on pre-test and post-test data through filling out questionnaires by participants, it shows a significant increase in collective awareness regarding the program objectives.

The alleviating effect of household distributed photovoltaics on multidimensional relative poverty in rural areas

Relative poverty represents a major obstacle to China's rural revitalization efforts and necessitates enhanced policy support. This study aims to investigate the impact of household distributed photovoltaic (HDPV) on relative poverty conditions. Based on 337 questionnaire data from Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province in 2022, we construct a multidimensional relative poverty index using the Alkire-Foster method to assess the level of relative poverty. We employ fixed-effects models and mediation models to evaluate the effectiveness of HDPV in alleviating relative poverty. The results indicate that HDPV reduce the multidimensional relative poverty level of rural residents by approximately 0.058, demonstrating that installing HDPV can significantly alleviate multidimensional relative poverty. This effect is primarily achieved through increased investment in children's education. Additionally, we find that the alleviation effect varies by income level, with lower-income households experiencing greater improvements compared to higher-income households. Specifically, HDPV reduce the poverty level of the low-income group by approximately 0.0969, while the high-income group saw a reduction of about 0.0313. The findings of this study enrich the research on relative poverty in China by revealing the poverty-alleviating attributes of HDPV. It provides support for the development of renewable energy and regional development policies and has practical significance for advancing photovoltaic building integration.

Furthermore, the article discusses the integration ofinternational legal standards into national laws, demonstrating Uzbekistan's dedication to fulfilling itsinternational obligations. The research also analyzes the mechanisms employed by state and localauthorities to safeguard children's rights and promote their physical, intellectual, spiritual, and moraldevelopment. The findings underscore Uzbekistan's proactive approach in creating a robust legal systemthat prioritizes the well-being and development of children in the digital age.

The long-term effects of the free primary education policy on intergenerational mobility in Kenya: A household survey in 2015

This study examines Kenya's Free Primary Education policy's long-term effects on intergenerational mobility (IM). Children are likely to achieve a higher level of education than their mothers and fathers, especially those whose parents had no education. Analyzing the 1985–1994 cohort identifies a 1–3 % shift in IM compared to the 1985–1989 cohort, primarily driven by the rise of parental schooling. Kenya shows significant IM; thus, the background does not solely determine one's future. Kenya has a rate of return similar to the global average. Parental education's impact seems limited, and a child's education alleviates poverty.

Early marriage is a marriage under the age of the target preparation has not been said to be maximized in terms of physical preparation, mental preparation as well as material preparation. The Law of the Republic of Indonesia No.1 of 1974 regulates that marriage is only permitted if the man has reached the age of 19 years and the woman has reached the age of 16 years. Meanwhile, if based on health science, the ideal age that is biologically and psychologically mature is 20 to 25 years for women, then 25-30 years for men. The purpose of this research is to build adolescents' awareness that to overcome early marriage, it can be through education and also the role of parents is very important in the process of growing children to have a good mindset with education.The method used in this research is a qualitative method with data collection techniques using literature studies.The results showed that adolescents really need education in overcoming early marriage and the role of parents who must facilitate their children's education process so that a child can think critically before acting.

A Portrait of Pancasila Education Learning for Children with Special Needs at a Special School (SLB) Negeri 2 Mataram

This study aims to determine and identify the learning of Pancasila education for children with special needs at special school 2 mataram. This research method uses a case study with a qualitative approach, data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and searches for documents and archives related to the purpose of this research. Based on the research, the subjects used were random (snowball). Based on the research subjects who came from the parties involved either directly or not in learning Pancasila Education for children with special needs at SLB 2 Mataram institution. Such as principals, students, SLB educators, and educators, especially Pancasila Education educators. To get valid data, researchers use data analysis techniques, namely data condensation, data collection, and conclusion drawing. Data triangulation techniques from both techniques and sources were obtained when researchers conducted research in the field. Therefore, the results of this study indicate that the components that make up the Pancasila Education learning tool for children with special needs are logical, structurally relevant, procedurally comprehensive, instructional, and interactive. Then, from these components to apply the Pancasila Education learning tools for children with special needs to realize inclusive education, identification, duplication, modification, adaptation, substitution, and omissions are carried out. By paying attention to several aspects such as collaboration between educators who are linear in the field of Pancasila Education in the preparation of learning tools. Then the number of educators who teach in class and the curriculum that is relevant to the needs of children with special needs.

Penerapan Akuntansi dalam Rumah Tangga

This study aims to examine the role of accounting in the Maulo'o Village community and how accounting is applied in households regarding four important things, namely budgeting, recording, decision making and long-term planning. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological study approach. The results of the study indicate that the application of accounting in households plays a very important role in people's lives. The important role of accounting and the benefits of accounting in household life are useful for stabilizing household finances, controlling expenses and prioritizing primary needs and preventing families from debt activities. The application of accounting in the decision-making practices of eight housewife informants in Maulo'o Village always discusses with her husband in making decisions and also prioritizes primary needs such as children's education costs and does not forget to always save for future needs.

Social Values, Family Work Involvement and School Education of Children in a Rural Area of Satu-Mare County

This article presents the results of a research carried out in a rural area of Satu-Mare County, which aimed to identify the practices regarding work in family agricultural households of rural children in connection with their school education. Our study is an exploratory research on the involvement of rural children in household work, as well as of the meanings that parents give to family work and school education, taking into account their value systems, expectations, relationships with their families and other relevant factors. For the collection of quantitative data, we used a questionnaire based survey on a representative sample of children and their parents, while for the qualitative data semi-structured interviews were conducted with parents and focus group interview with teachers. The research results reveal that the involvement of children in the work of family households is considered by parents as a natural component of the family socialization of children, related to the need to acquire work skills characteristic of the rural way of life. Among parents there is a preoccupation for the balance between school education and household activities, with an emphasis on the relevance of practical education. Child labour can negatively affect school performance; however, rural life offers children valuable hands-on learning opportunities.

The Importance of Implementing a Creativity Program for Students at Inclusion Schools

For students with special needs, this is useful to dispel negative assumptions from the surrounding environment, which can impact their mental development. The Creative Education Program (CEP) holds potential as a solution to assist students in schools. The findings of this study include: (1) CEP is a training program organized by schools to prioritize the creative process so that students can absorb lessons effectively and become more interested in learning; (2) The implementation of CEP has been carried out in several elementary schools, namely SLB Bina Harapan, SLB Negeri 1 Bantul, and SLB PGRI Prembun; (3) The benefits of CEP include the development of critical and innovative thinking skills, the nurturing of special interests and talents, and the enhancement of interpersonal skills; (4) CEP is crucial to be implemented in inclusive schools that have not yet incorporated creativity programs directly into children's education. </span></p></div></div></div>

School composition and academic achievement: The case of Russian-medium and Polish-medium schools in Lithuania

After Lithuania re-gained its independence, linguistic and cultural minority groups residing in the country had the right to be educated in non-Lithuanian-medium schools. Yet, the education of linguistic minority children has been a contentious topic in Lithuania for many years, and there is no conclusive evidence on how minority-language-medium schools in Lithuania perform academically, with national assessment suggesting that they perform worse than Lithuanian-speaking schools, and international assessment showing mixed results. Our research focuses on Russian- and Polish-medium schools and analyses the difference in academic performance among children attending Lithuanian-medium school and minority-language schools, as well as its reasons and social implications. Using the OECD Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) data, we find that minority-language children perform better when attending a school in which the language of instruction is the same as their home language.

This research aims to determine the forms of family disorganization in the novel Sunyi Terriuh by Fajar Sulaiman, the factors causing family disorganization in the novel Sunyi Terriuh by Fajar Sulaiman, and the impact of family disorganization in the novel Sunyi Terriuh by Fajar Sulaiman. This research uses the theory of literary sociology studies. This research is literary research using descriptive methods. The data source for this research is the novel Sunyi Terriuh by Fajar Sulaiman. The results of this research are forms of family disorganization, namely (a) cancellation, separation, divorce and abandonment and (2) empty membrane families. The factors causing disorganization are divided into two, namely internal factors (from within), namely (a) lack of mature thinking or processing of the household which leads to continuous fighting and loss of harmony in the household, (b) Selfish attitudes, namely attitudes that are more selfish. own interests rather than shared interests (c) busyness problems. The impact of family disorganization (a) makes children stressed, children become violent (b) aggressive, children will lose their role. models, (c) children's education becomes disrupted, and (d) children become easily sensitive.

Navigating Real-World Randomized Clinical Trials: The 'Parents as Teachers' Experience.

The Parents as Teachers Randomized Controlled Trial (PAT RCT) Case Study investigates the multifaceted impact of implementing the PAT RCT in Arizona, U.S.A., shedding light on both the positive and negative effects. There has been a recent focus on improving the implementation of RCTs in community settings, as this issue has not been fully addressed. This research presents a case study examining the implementation of a community-based RCT in home visitation. This study also addresses the strategies that can be employed to mitigate some of the challenges in the implementation of an RCT, offering valuable insights for future RCTs in the domain of home visiting. The PAT program, aimed at providing parent education and family engagement for children from birth to kindergarten, encompasses a range of services, including personal visits, group connections, child screenings, and community resource linkages. The Parents as Teachers Randomized Controlled Trial (PAT RCT) directly promotes health by educating parents about health and wellness as well as providing early child screenings and heath referrals, all of which enhance health outcomes through timely interventions and improved parental practices. Lessons from the study also aim to improve the implementation of future health-related RCTs, ensuring effective delivery and impactful results.

Intergenerational associations of maternal depression with daughters' family formation

AbstractObjectiveThis work investigates the potential associations between maternal major depressive disorder (MDD) and daughters' family formation behaviors, specifically the timing of marriage and first birth.BackgroundFamily and life course research has established the importance of intergenerational ties and linked lives for children's health, education, social life, and transition to adulthood more broadly. However, mothers' MDD has remained a relatively understudied factor shaping young people's family formation behaviors.MethodThe analyses used a sample of 1127 linked mother–father–daughter triads from the Chitwan Valley Family Study (CVFS) in Nepal. Discrete‐time event‐history models at the month level were run to assess whether daughters' differential exposure to maternal MDD was prospectively associated with entry into marital unions and parenthood.ResultsAlthough there was no relationship between maternal lifetime MDD and daughters' family formation, results showed that being first exposed to maternal MDD during childhood, specifically between the ages of 0 and 10, increased the monthly odds of transitioning to parenthood by more than 80%. Additional findings showed that an increased pace of getting married was a primary determinant of accelerated childbearing.ConclusionDaughters' exposure to mothers' depression was associated with daughters' family formation transitions. The timing of exposure, however, was a particularly important driver of that association. We argue that the study of parents' mental ill‐health provides untapped opportunity for future intergenerational research.

Causes of School Dropout among Public Secondary School Students in Ifakara Town Council, Tanzania

This study aimed at exploring causes of students' dropout in public secondary schools in Ifakara Town Council, Morogoro. The study employed a mixed approach. The study involved 128 participants including 1 DEO, 7 heads of school, and 120 dropout students. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews. Quantitative data were analysed using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 while qualitative data were analysed through content analysis. The findings of the study revealed that low economic status of the respondents’ family was the leading cause of school dropout in the study area; the parents failed to meet school expenses and support their children education. Also, students missed school to do home responsibilities like taking care of their young siblings while the parents were working. Parents’ low level of education made them to have low income and not to value the education of their children. Children from single parent families had challenges with their school requirements being met which led to some dropping out of school. Major recommendation was that, Tanzanian government, NGOs and other educational stakeholders should provide more assistance for poor students who cannot afford to pay for educational materials by creating special program from government in co-operation with the Ministry responsible for education.

This study investigates parental attitudes towards the efficacy of assistive technologies in facilitating inclusive education for children with disabilities within mainstream educational settings. The research aims to address the pressing need for insights into parental perceptions regarding the utilization of assistive technologies to support their children's learning experiences in inclusive classrooms. A questionnaire-based methodology was employed to gather comprehensive data from parents of children with disabilities enrolled in mainstream schools. The survey encompassed inquiries about parents' familiarity with assistive technologies, their perceived effectiveness, challenges encountered, and overall satisfaction with their child's educational journey within inclusive settings. The results of the research reveal multifaceted insights into parental attitudes towards assistive technologies. Findings indicate a generally positive outlook among parents, acknowledging the potential of these technologies to enhance their child's educational outcomes and promote inclusion. However, notable challenges such as accessibility, affordability, and adequate training emerge as significant barriers hindering the optimal utilization of assistive technologies. The discussion delves into the implications of the findings for policymakers, educators, and practitioners, emphasizing the necessity for targeted interventions to address existing barriers and enhance the accessibility and efficacy of assistive technologies in inclusive education. Moreover, the study underscores the importance of fostering partnerships between parents and educational institutions to ensure the holistic support and empowerment of children with disabilities within mainstream educational settings. This collaborative approach is essential for creating an inclusive educational environment that meets the diverse needs of all students. The study concludes that while parents recognize the benefits of assistive technologies, overcoming the existing challenges requires a concerted effort from all stakeholders involved. By addressing issues of accessibility, affordability, and training, the potential of assistive technologies can be fully realized, thereby improving educational outcomes for children with disabilities.
