SCLERODERMA ASSOCIATED WITH ADRENAL NEOPLASM

Statements are made in textbooks of medicine and in the literature concerning the possible relation between scleroderma and pathologic changes of the adrenal glands. This point has never been thoroughly settled, and the cause of scleroderma remains a mystery. In searching the literature of the past fifteen years I found only two reports specifically mentioning a relation of this disease to pathologic changes of the adrenal glands, and these were in the foreign literature. 1 For this reason, the following case is presented with the necropsy report. PULMONARY ACTINOMYCOSIS

In a recent publication, Sanford and Voelker 1 report the protocols of 670 cases of actinomycosis occurring in the United States. This is by far the most comprehensive survey ever made of this disease. Analysis of their cases shows that the condition occurred forty-two times in children under 15 years of age. Of this group, there were only five cases of primary pulmonary infection. The disease also is very rare in the states of the Atlantic seaboard. We, therefore, feel justified in reporting another case of pulmonary antinomycosis, especially since it occurred in a child, aged 5 years, who had lived all of his life in a large eastern city.
