Abstract Optical spectroscopy studles have been performed with Nq+ (q=5), ~eq+ (q=5,8) and ~rq+ (q= 8,9) multlcharged ions . Rydberg states were populated by electron capture from Caesium . Doubly excited 1 s2 2s2 2ps 3s tM! 4b - 1 s2 2s2 2p5 3s n'0' 4LaJ with n=7,. . . ,I2 and 0=6,. . .,I1 Rydberg transitions of Ar VIII have been observed by double collision with Ar9+. Electron capture with Xq+ +Hz ( He) collisions have been extensively studied by Ultra violet and X spectroscopy . The capture levels with this targets are low n=3 ,4 ,5 . To obtain higher levels n=9 , I0 ,I 1,12 we hav.e used atomic alcaline vapor target .An=l and An=2 transitions from these levels are situated in the visible and near Ultra violet range.
