Gontor and Community Economic Empowerment

Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) as a leading Islamic educational institution in Indonesia has proven its role not only focusing on religious education, but also on other aspects, namely social and economic, especially the economic empowerment of the people. This study looks at the role of PMDG in community economic empowerment. PMDG's economic empowerment is carried out through an integrative approach between education, entrepreneurship, and sharia-based and sustainable resource management. PMDG incorporates a modern curriculum that includes practical skills such as business management, agribusiness, and information technology in its learning. Thus, it succeeds in instilling entrepreneurial character among the santri, which in turn has an impact on the surrounding community. In addition, the economic programs also implemented by PMDG such as pesantren cooperatives, productive waqf and zakat, and ecology-based activities not only increase the independence of the institution, but also empower the surrounding community economically.

Business Performance Model: The Role of Management Abilities and Entrepreneurial Character in Penta helix Coaching Collaboration

This research aims to reveal the impact of the Penta-Helix collaborative business coaching process on entrepreneurial character, management abilities, and business performance. The study used a quantitative approach. The population in this study was 250 active members of the Tangerang MSME community. The research sample was 150 MSMEs. Data was processed using SEM PLS software. The results indicate that coaching improves entrepreneurial character and management abilities but does not directly enhance business performance. This research proves that entrepreneurial character and Management Capability mediate the influence of coaching on business performance. This research provides theoretical implications for developing corporate resource-based strategic management theory, where external parties must mobilize company resources, which are the primary key to achieving business performance. The practical implications of the findings include how they can guide MSME coaching programs. Further research should explore whether collaborative business coaching can directly improve business performance.

Entrepreneurial leadership and employee performance; the role of innovative work behavior among employees in the food and beverages industry

PurposeThis study seeks to examine the mediating role of innovative work behavior (IWB) in the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership (EL) and employee performance.Design/methodology/approachThe study adopted the cross-sectional research design of quantitative approach where data were collected from 344 employees in Ghana’s food and beverages industry. The retrieved data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (partial least squares structural equation modeling).FindingsMainly, the study revealed that IWB positively and significantly mediated the relationship between EL and contextual and task performance (TP). The study found that EL has a significant positive relationship with task and contextual performance (CP). This indicates that leaders who demonstrate entrepreneurial qualities, such as innovation, proactiveness and risk-taking, are likely to enhance their team’s ability to complete specific tasks effectively (TP) and contribute positively to the broader organizational environment (CP).Practical implicationsPractically, organizations that prioritize EL qualities among managers and supervisors in the form of providing training programs, coaching and mentorship opportunities that emphasize innovation, risk-taking and pro-activeness in decision-making significantly influence their employee performance.Originality/valueThe originality and value of this study lie in its comprehensive exploration of the relationship between EL, IWB and performance outcomes.

Shaping Students’ Entrepreneurial Intentions into Actions: South African Lecturers’ Views on Teaching Strategies and the Ideal Educator

For several decades, entrepreneurship education (EE) has been identified as vital for preparing students to succeed in a changing economic landscape. Specifically, EE shapes students’ entrepreneurial intentions into actions. Considering the evolving expectations from graduates, this study explores South African entrepreneurship educators’ perspectives regarding the ideal educator and effective teaching strategies to shape the development of students’ entrepreneurial intentions. This empirical qualitative study examines data collected from 14 entrepreneurship educators across various South African public higher education institutions, collected using an open-ended questionnaire. Thematic analysis revealed a strong consensus on the importance of real-world experience teaching and the limited integration of online methodologies in EE. The results also emphasized the need for educators to embody entrepreneurial qualities, such as practical experience and a hands-on approach, to foster students’ transition from intention to action. Despite the desire for more innovative, action-oriented teaching strategies, traditional teaching theory in entrepreneurship remains an essential modality in the EE framework. These findings suggest that effective EE practices should integrate experiential learning and innovative strategies while maintaining core theoretical foundations.

Research on the Chinese Characteristics Advanced Apprenticeship Training Model Based on Embedded Neural Network Analysis

In order to deeply analyze the feasibility and optimization strategies of this model in vocational education, this paper focuses on the application of embedded neural network technology. By comparing with other talent cultivation models, especially delving into the essence of project-based teaching, this paper defines the practical, refined, and entrepreneurial characteristics unique to project-based teaching under modern apprenticeship systems. These characteristics constitute the core competitiveness of the advanced apprenticeship training model. This paper emphasizes the establishment of a quality management system based on standards, rigorous processes, and customized solutions. Embedded neural networks, with their powerful data processing and pattern recognition capabilities, help this paper reveal the significant advantages of this training model in resource integration, personalized teaching, skill inheritance, and market docking.

Culture-Based Entrepreneurship: A Study Of The Characteristics And Skills Of Noken Artisans In Southwest Papua

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of entrepreneurs that influence success in running a business. Through a survey method involving 50 entrepreneurs, this study explores various characteristics, including self-confidence, risk-taking, hard work, innovation, independence, forward-looking orientation, responsiveness, management, networking, and strategic skills. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant relationship between entrepreneurial characteristics and business performance. The Spearman Rank correlation test indicates that strategy, networking, and management skills have a solid relationship, confirming the importance of these skills in supporting entrepreneurial success. Meanwhile, characteristics such as risk-taking and innovation show a weaker relationship with other traits, indicating that the context and situation of the individual influence these factors. This study provides insight into how various entrepreneurial characteristics interact with each other and contribute to business success. These findings are expected to be a reference for developing training and support programs for entrepreneurs and increasing understanding of the importance of skills development in the world of entrepreneurship. Thus, this study contributes to the entrepreneurship literature by highlighting the relationship between individual characteristics and successful business outcomes

A092: Research on the Influence of Physical Exercise on Family Entrepreneurship in China

Background/Purpose: Currently, the majority of Chinese people are hesitant to start a business and they are still in the transition stage from survival-based entrepreneurship to opportunity-based entrepreneurship. Therefore, how to help residents grab entrepreneurship opportunities and improve the quality of entrepreneurship is a key point of China’s current macroeconomic policies. Physical exercise is an essential way to build social and human capital because it helps to foster both individual health and the growth of social networks. This research aimed to investigate the impact of physical exercise practices on family-based entrepreneurial decision-making and outcomes, examine the underlying mechanisms, and propose targeted interventions and recommendations based on empirical findings. Method: This research conducted empirical analysis on individuals between the ages of 18 and 60 and employed the instrumental variable method to overcome potential endogenous problems, on the basis of the three-period panel data of CFPS. Households were grouped according to aspects such as urban and rural areas, genders, and occupations to compare the heterogeneity of the impact of sports participation on entrepreneurial behavior of households from different groups. Results: Physical exercise has been shown to significantly enhance family business income and encourage individuals and families to participate in entrepreneurship. Human capital and social capital performed the intermediary function in the process of physical exercise to affect entrepreneurship and income. Conclusion/Discussion: This research innovatively pointed out the effects of physical exercise on entrepreneurial behavior and entrepreneurship-related business income. To strengthen the validity of this finding, additional varied evidence from future research is required.

Entrepreneurial motivation and growth orientation among micro-entrepreneurs in Southern Finland

Despite their importance for the economy, micro-enterprises remain under-researched. We also know little about entrepreneurial motivations in the growth phase of enterprises. Therefore, to increase our understanding of the motivations of micro-entrepreneurs who expect to grow their businesses, a qualitative case study followed 27 micro-entrepreneurs in Southern Finland. Drawing on expectancy theory, the study builds and applies a theoretical model of the six dimensions identified for the entrepreneurial motivation of growth-oriented micro-entrepreneurs. Furthermore, the study implies that the level of growth expectation and the entrepreneurial characteristics of gender, education level and entrepreneurial experience are combined with the drivers of motivation and further with performance. In conclusion, we describe a novel growth-oriented microentrepreneurial motivation profile. The findings offer valuable insights for regional actors for identifying and supporting micro-enterprises with growth potential. Further scholarship is recommended to test the theoretical model and explore differences in terms of growth expectations.

A Theoretical Framework Analyzing Impact of Embedding Entrepreneurial Skills in Education on Economical Growth

Background: The growth of any country's economy owes much on the contributions of its entrepreneurs. Employment creation, income contribution, rural development, industrialization, technological advancement, export promotion, etc. are all bolstered by a nation's entrepreneurial spirit. There has been periodic government programs in India aimed at fostering entrepreneurship. The Indian government has begun to take an interest in the topic of entrepreneurship. Startup India is only one of many high-profile programs designed to foster growth in the private sector. The effectiveness of teaching innovation and entrepreneurship to university students has come under scrutiny as they try to prepare themselves for a dynamic job market. Objectives: University students' job-seeking mindsets, innovative and practical skill development, innovative and practical ability development, core entrepreneurial competitiveness, entrepreneurship and innovation comprehensive quality, etc. are all examined in this research. The current state of education regarding entrepreneurship and innovation in higher education is evaluated in order to identify and strengthen the aspects that are having a beneficial impact on students' learning. The innovative and entrepreneurial potential of today's university students has never been more crucial, since studies demonstrate that entrepreneurship has a major impact on economic growth. Methods: From the standpoint of planned behavior theory, this research examines how entrepreneurship education influences the intent to start a business. By investigating the impact of university-level entrepreneurial programs on economic and social progress, a brief analysis is made that impacts the growth of financial sector in India. Education on entrepreneurship in universities is essential for inspiring and motivating students to start their own firms. This research presents a theoretical model of the connection between entrepreneurial skills and intending to be entrepreneurial as taught in academics dedicated to the study of entrepreneurship. Results: This research presents a thorough analysis on demographics of entrepreneurs, the psychological and behavioral traits of university students, and the external influences on entrepreneurs through questionnaires and in-depth interviews. Conclusion: Students' entrepreneurial drive and choices were found to be influenced by their backgrounds and characteristics. In addition, the objective characteristics of the potential entrepreneurs are the students' subjective desires and interests.

Development of Entrepreneurial Character in Farmers Through Extension Activities

The research problem stems from the lack of entrepreneurial character in farming, due to the absence of routine extension activities. This study aims to identify the factors related to entrepreneurial character through red onion extension activities in Jak Village, Miomaffo Timur District, North Central Timor Regency. The data analysis model used in this study is Spearman Rank Correlation Test Analysis. The data collected includes both primary and secondary data. Data analysis uses Spearman rank correlation analysis to identify factors associated with entrepreneurial character through red onion extension activities in Jak Village, Miomaffo Timur District, North Central Timor Regency. The results of this study show that work ethic and responsibility, innovative behavior, and courage have a positive association with the level of participation in agricultural extension activities. This relationship is most prominent in aspects of seed selection, planting, as well as harvesting and post-harvest activities. These findings highlight the importance of considering the personal characteristics of farmers when designing and implementing effective agricultural extension programs.

Attributes Required for Entrepreneurs of Self-Help Groups (SHGS) Involved in the Development of Microenterprises

Under the pathetic and uneasy conditions the rural poor face, microfinance activity acts as the saviour to redeem them from the clutches of poverty and unemployment. The present study was conducted to examine the influence of entrepreneurial attributes of members of SHGs in the effectiveness of microfinance services for agro-enterprise development by the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Kerala. The study was conducted in ex-post facto design, in the three purposively selected districts of the three zones of Kerala, namely, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Malappuram. The effectiveness of microfinance services was calculated individually from the scores obtained for each respondent and the average score of members in a group constituted the effectiveness score of the group. The independent samples t-test was employed to find out the significant difference in entrepreneurial characteristics score with the effectiveness of microfinance services. Also, a correlation analysis was performed between entrepreneurial characteristics and the effectiveness of microfinance services. The correlation analysis of the entrepreneurial characteristics of the SHG members and the effectiveness of microfinance services revealed that ‘achievement motivation’, ‘innovativeness’, ‘thrift tendency’, ‘strategic visioning’ and ‘internal locus of control’ were positively and significantly correlated with the effectiveness of microfinance services at one per cent level of significance, whereas ‘economic opportunism’ was positively and significantly correlated with the effectiveness of microfinance services at five per cent level of significance. The independent samples t-test revealed that the entrepreneurial abilities of the members of SHG largely influenced the effectiveness of microfinance services for agro-enterprise development rather than other factors like the nature of agro-enterprises which was usually selected through micro screening techniques. The study necessitates a severe need of the establishment of business schools for youth to develop their entrepreneurial traits as well as better governance, especially in the agro sector.

Assessment of the entrepreneurial intention of university students using rasch methodology

Entrepreneurial intention is guided by actions and intrinsic skills, namely, understanding entrepreneurial characteristics and becoming capable of devising, articulating, and sustaining innovative ideas. Thus, conceptions are generally linked to innovation, with active methodologies such as workshops, journeys, courses, and lectures playing a vital role. Therefore, it is essential to promote entrepreneurial intention in the academic environment, specifically in agricultural science courses. In light of this demand, this study aimed to assess the entrepreneurial intention of university students participating in the Sustainable Agro Entrepreneurship Program (AGROS), using the Rasch methodology. The program was developed to spread entrepreneurship among students of the Center for Applied Agricultural Sciences (CCAA) at the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS), through four systematically and interactively planned workshops. The study investigated the validity of evidence related to the internal structure of the Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students' Survey (GUESSS) and the evolution of the students’ entrepreneurial intention. Fifty-seven (57) students participating in the Program were evaluated based on responses to items in the GUESSS inventory, at two points: Pretest (T0) and Follow-up (T1). The results indicated that the program had a positive impact on stimulating entrepreneurial intention in agricultural sciences, particularly regarding the creation of new businesses in the field. Furthermore, the research identified the main factors contributing to the program’s success, such as the integration of workshops and lectures, the presence of highly qualified professionals, and the use of active methodologies.

Digital Financial Inclusion and Inclusive Growth ––Empirical evidence based on the China Household Panel Survey

As an innovation in traditional inclusive finance, digital inclusive finance is an important way to coordinate the income gap between urban and rural areas, popularize financial products and services, and promote the digitalization process. Therefore, this study matches the digital inclusive finance index with the Chinese household tracking survey, uses a panel data econometric model, a mediation effect model, and a moderation effect model to control for the characteristics of heads of households and families, and explores the impact mechanism of the development of digital inclusive finance on inclusive growth in urban and rural areas in China, with a view to providing a scientific basis and policy suggestions for promoting inclusive growth. The study finds that: First, digital inclusive finance has a significant income-increasing effect on both urban and rural households, among which it has a greater impact on rural households, which is conducive to narrowing the income gap between urban and rural areas; Second, digital inclusive finance improves rural household income and narrows the income gap between urban and rural areas by promoting rural household entrepreneurship and business activities and alleviating the formal credit constraints of rural households; Third, digital inclusive finance can generally promote families with access to the Internet, a strong ability to use digital tools, and small information constraints to start businesses and obtain formal credit. This study innovatively incorporates entrepreneurial quality into the research of the transmission mechanism; three theories of the "digital divide" are put forward and tested. Research value: Clarifying the transmission mechanism of digital inclusive finance to promote inclusive growth, and providing policy suggestions for the development of digital inclusive finance.

A Utilization of Marketing Strategies Through to Increase Sales of Umkm Member Products of The Wijaya Cfd Association In Sampang Regency

UMKM Actors, the use of digital marketing is the most appropriate solution to survive amidst technological developments. Utilization in conducting marketing or online transactions, the approach in this digital era is all technology-based services. One of the emerging technologies is the increasing activity through social networks. This study uses a descriptive quantitative method design, where the results are obtained to obtain information data. The research plan carried out by the researcher aims to find out what promotions are used by the CFD association in Sampang Regency. How social media can increase sales of MSMEs in the CFD Association. The results of the study are: (a) the results of the correlation coefficient test on the Entrepreneurial Characteristics variable (X1) against Business Success (Y) of 0.646; (b) the results of the correlation coefficient test on the Entrepreneurial Competence variable (X2) against Business Success (Y) of 0.734; and (c) Based on the results of data processing in the study, it can be seen that the Adjusted R Square determination coefficient value is 0.627, meaning 62.7% of the success of MSMEs in the CFD Association of Wijaya Regency. Antecedents - Consequences Of Innovation Culture In Family Firms

This research aims to see how innovation culture is essential for a business organisation. However, more than a culture of innovation needs to look only at the trigger aspect, it also needs to look at the impact that will be created. Therefore, this research will explain the relationship between entrepreneurs and business characteristics in the context of the ability to see opportunities and improve in creating an innovation culture and the impact of innovation culture on achieving business continuity. Using a sample of 147 (98 per cent) entrepreneur respondents in Palembang, the research hypothesis was tested using structural equation modelling (SEM) and partial least squares (PLS) analysis with Warp PLS version 5.0 software. The results conclude that the entrepreneur's characteristics, the ability to see opportunities, and the ability to improvise positively affect company innovation culture, and innovation culture positively affects business continuity in family firms in Palembang.

Nations’ share of innovative entrepreneurs: financial systems to the rescue in difficult institutional settings

With much of the literature declaring little role for financial systems in boosting a nation's share of innovative entrepreneurs, this study argues that financial systems play an important role when other parts of the national business systems —skills and government— are weak. This argument is supported by an analysis of a panel data set comprising 283 country-year data over five years. Overall, this research contributes to a stream of research about the context for entrepreneurial aspirations or entrepreneurship quality. The study empirically confirms an idea seldom tested: the interplay required between systems components, such as institutions, to increase national innovative capacity.

Social entrepreneurship: an innovative tool for solving social problems in Ukraine

It is indicated that in the modern world, where social and environmental problems are becoming increasingly acute, social entrepreneurship appears as an innovative and effective tool for solving them. This phenomenon is at the intersection of business and charity, combining an entrepreneurial approach with a social mission. This article explores the phenomenon of social entrepreneurship as an innovative tool for addressing social and environmental challenges in the modern world. It examines the relevance of developing social entrepreneurship in the context of the UN’s global sustainable development goals and in conditions of limited state resources to meet growing social needs. The author analyzes the historical roots of social entrepreneurship, tracing its evolution from the 17th century to the present day. Special attention is given to the «Triple Bottom Line» concept (profit, people, planet), which underlies social entrepreneurship, and the ideas of Nobel laureate M. Yunus regarding «social business». The article discusses the key characteristics of social entrepreneurship that distinguish it from traditional business, and the principles of social enterprise operation. The author identifies three main models of social entrepreneurship: inclusive, social reinvestment, and innovative social model. Particular attention is paid to the legal aspect of social entrepreneurship in Ukraine, specifically the absence of a special organizational and legal form for such activities and the opportunities provided by current legislation. The author emphasizes the role of social entrepreneurship in the development of the economy and civil society, particularly in job creation, overcoming social isolation, and promoting civic participation. The categories of population for whom social entrepreneurship is especially relevant are considered. The conclusions highlight the potential of social entrepreneurship as a tool for achieving sustainable development and building a more inclusive society, as well as the need for further research in this field, especially in the context of post-COVID reality and the state of war in Ukraine.

ANALISIS PENGARUH SIKAP PETERNAK TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERWIRAUSAHA PENGGEMUKAN DAN PEMBIBITAN SAPI DI KECAMATAN PADEMAWU KABUPATEN PAMEKASAN

Pamekasan Regency has the lowest cattle population in Madura, 194,283 heads. The attitude of farmers who have an important role in the cattle business. This study aims to determine 1) the entrepreneurial characteristics of farmers, 2) the attributes of the dominant attitudes of farmers, and 3) the relationship between the attitudes of farmers and their entrepreneurial abilities in Pademawu District, Pamekasan Regency. The method used is descriptive quantitative, using secondary and primary data from 35 cattle breeders. This study uses a descriptive analysis and multi-attribute Fishbein. The results of this study indicate that 1) the entrepreneurial characteristics of breeders are still common, and their entrepreneurial skills are still low; 2) the dominant attitude of farmers in entrepreneurship is the selling price of farmers, while the attitude that has the lowest rank is maintenance; 3) the relationship between attitudes and abilities in entrepreneurship of breeders is said to be quite close, entrepreneurial attitudes of breeders such as motivation, yield orientation, risk-taking, opportunity utilization and perceptions of livestock business are not dominant attributes, but have a large enough effect. Cattle breeders in Pademawu District need counseling about maintenance risks, financial management, opportunity utilization, yield orientation, and increased motivation.

Business characterization and performance of tourism entrepreneurs in the Gocta destination: An analysis using Smart PLS

This research aimed to examine the characteristics of tourism entrepreneurs and their impact on performance in the Gocta destination. This study analysed data from a sample of 47 entrepreneurs using structural equation modelling with SmartPLS 3.37 software using a quantitative methodology with descriptive and explanatory approaches. The sample included 44% men and 55% women. The sample included 44.7% men and 55.3% women. The results indicated that entrepreneurial traits such as leadership (p=0.047), planning (p=0.041) and innovation (p=0.007) have a significant positive effect on both entrepreneurial performance and business sustainability. These characteristics are decisive for improving business performance and ensuring long-term viability. In contrast, business attributes such as sociability (p=0.065) and sustainability (p=0.557) showed a lower level of significance about performance. This indicates that they are less critical compared to leadership, planning and innovation although sociability and sustainability are valuable. The study highlights the importance of these key traits in driving entrepreneurial success and aims to strengthen the skills associated with leadership, planning and innovation among entrepreneurs. This research seeks to support the development of effective and sustainable tourism enterprises in the Gocta destination and provides valuable information for both entrepreneurs to consider the entrepreneurial characteristics of starting a great business and policy makers by focusing on these traits.

The influence of entrepreneurial education on the development of entrepreneurial intentions of young people

A successful start-up begins with an innovative idea, which is then realized by identifying and seizing an opportunity. Innovation is one of the most crucial entrepreneurial qualities in this type of entrepreneurship. The aim of this paper is to determine the fundamental and specific characteristics of start-up entrepreneurship and to examine the entrepreneurial intentions and knowledge of young people in this field. The empirical research in this paper includes both secondary and primary research. Secondary research involves the presentation of relevant studies in the fields of start-up entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial education. The primary empirical research was conducted on a sample of 160 students from higher education institutions in Međimurje and Varaždin counties. The results indicate that students are relatively well-informed about the possibilities of starting a start-up company. Their personal assessments of their familiarity with the processes involved in starting a start-up are of average value. Additionally, respondents identified administrative procedures, high taxes, lack of knowledge about funding sources, and insufficient information about reference centers as the main obstacles to entering entrepreneurship. By testing the research hypotheses, it was found that attending formal classes in entrepreneurship positively affects the entrepreneurial intentions of young people. The limitations of the research include the restriction of the sample to northwestern Croatia. The findings suggest a further need to strengthen entrepreneurship education and expand it to younger populations in the Republic of Croatia.
