An Improved Trilateral Localization Technique Fusing Extended Kalman Filter for Mobile Construction Robot

Semi-open and chaotic environments of building sites are considered primary challenges for the localization of mobile construction robots. To mitigate environmental limitations, an improved trilateral localization technique based on artificial landmarks fusing the extended Kalman filters (EKFs) is proposed in this paper. The reflective intensity of the onboard laser is employed to identify artificial landmarks arranged in the ongoing construction environment. A trilateral positioning algorithm is then adopted and evaluated based on artificial landmarks. Multi-sensor fusion, combined with the EKF, is included to improve the positioning accuracy and reliability of the robot in complex conditions. We constructed validation scenarios in the Gazebo simulation environment to verify the required localization functionality. Concurrently, we established simulated testing environments in real-world settings, where the practicality of the proposed technique was validated through the fitting of ideal and actual localization trajectories. The effectiveness of the proposed technique was corroborated through comparative experimental results.

Myosin-5 varies its step length to carry cargo straight along the irregular F-actin track

Molecular motors employ chemical energy to generate unidirectional mechanical output against a track while navigating a chaotic cellular environment, potential disorder on the track, and against Brownian motion. Nevertheless, decades of nanometer-precise optical studies suggest that myosin-5a, one of the prototypical molecular motors, takes uniform steps spanning 13 subunits (36 nm) along its F-actin track. Here, we use high-resolution interferometric scattering microscopy to reveal that myosin takes strides spanning 22 to 34 actin subunits, despite walking straight along the helical actin filament. We show that cumulative angular disorder in F-actin accounts for the observed proportion of each stride length, akin to crossing a river on variably spaced stepping stones. Electron microscopy revealed the structure of the stepping molecule. Our results indicate that both motor and track are soft materials that can adapt to function in complex cellular conditions.

Investigation of Patient Safety Attitudes of Operating Room Staff

Operating rooms are one of the most chaotic work environments in a hospital. Patient-safety measures must be followed to obtain standardization in health care in the operating rooms. This study was conducted to investigate the patient safety attitudes of the staff working in operating rooms.
 The study was conducted using a descriptive and cross-sectional design with staff working in central operating rooms between February 2017 and October 2017 in Balcali Hospital of the Medical Faculty of Cukurova University, and in Adana Numune Training and Research Hospital. The population of the study consisted of healthcare staff working in the operating room units. Rather than selecting a sample from the population, reaching the whole population was aimed. 254 people who accepted to participate in the study, and who met the inclusion criteria, were included in the study. Staff information forms for collecting demographic data of the staff, and the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire (SAQ) for assessing patient safety attitudes of the staff, were used to collect the data. SPSS version 20 software was used to analyze the data. The results were interpreted using a 95 % confidence interval and a p < 0.05 significance level.
 The mean scores of the SAQ were as follows; the mean total SAQ scores were 49,58 ± 12,67, the scores for the teamwork climate dimension were 58,52±13,63, the scores for the job satisfaction dimension were 59,82±22,41, the scores for perceptions of management dimension were 44,35±22,99, the scores for safety climate dimension were 50,97±15,21, the scores for working conditions dimension were 51,35±25,01, and finally, the scores for stress recognition dimension were 36,83±16,14. 
 The results suggest that the patient safety attitudes of the staff working in the operating rooms were at an intermediate level. Providing necessary education and raising awareness are suggested to improve patient safety attitudes

Digital Marketing Data Classification by Using Machine Learning Algorithms

Early in the 20th century, as a result of technological advancements, the importance of digital marketing significantly increased as the necessity for digital customer experience, promotion, and distribution emerged. Since the year 1988, in the case when the term "Digital Marketing" first appeared, the business sector has undergone drastic growth, moving from small startups to massive corporations on a global scale. The marketer must navigate a chaotic environment caused by the vast volume of generated data. Decision-makers must contend with the fact that user data is dynamic and changes every day. Smart applications must be used within enterprises to better evaluate, classify, enhance, and target audiences. Customers who are tech-savvy are pushing businesses to make bigger financial investments and use cutting-edge technologies. It was only natural that marketing and trade could be one of the areas to move to such development, which helps to move to the speed of spread, advertisements, along with other things to facilitate things for reaching and winning customers. In this study, we utilized machine learning (ML) algorithms (Decision tree (DT), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), CatBoost, and Random Forest (RF) (for classifying data in customers to move to development. Improve the ability to forecast customer behavior so one can gain more business from them more quickly and easily. With the use of the aforementioned dataset, the suggested system was put to the test. The results show that the system can accurately predict if a customer will buy something or not; the random forest (RF) had an accuracy of 0.97, DT had an accuracy of 0. 95, KNN had an accuracy of 0. 91, while the CatBoost algorithm had the execution time 15.04 of seconds, and gave the best result of highest f1_score and accuracy (0.91, 0. 98) respectively. Finally, the study's future goals involve being created a web page, thereby helping many banking institutions with speed and forecast accuracy. Using more techniques of feature selection in conjunction with the marketing dataset to improve diagnosis.

The network resilience of safety confirmation and social capital during natural disasters: the comparison of the U.S. and Japan

This study discusses safety confirmation systems and how Social Capital (SC) affects the resilience of the safety confirmation network for natural disasters in the U.S. and Japanese society. When a large-scale disaster occurs, people desire to inform their loved ones of their safety status and search for their loved one’s status in a chaotic environment. Safety confirmation is the action of confirming the current status of people in disaster areas by collecting safety, injury, missing, and death information and sending the contact request. First, this study summarized the safety confirmation resources. The U.S. approach focuses on the missing and dead, while the Japanese approach focuses on the survivors and tries to define the remaining people who are missing and dead. Second, the social background that formed the SC was compared. Third, how SC affects the safety confirmation network in and between communities was analyzed. The case areas were Honolulu County in the U.S. and Aichi prefecture in Japan, and 1,324 samples were analyzed by ordinal logistic regression. The safety confirmation network reflected the social and SC structure for each country. The ethnic diversity in the network provided high resilience. Honolulu’s network was more open beyond the community and connected more with others. Residents’ economic network was linked to the safety confirmation network. Aichi’s network was more closed in the community and connected with kinship or neighbor ties. Trust and interaction with others shaped the foundation of the safety confirmation network. Finally, the integrated safety confirmation system was discussed.

Non-Suicidal Self-Injuries in Adolescents: The Role of Satisfaction with Family Life

The family plays a determining role in the development of the emotional well-being of its members. Self-injury is a phenomenon that has been growing in the world statistics in adolescents, so there is an enormous concern for the presence of risk factors, both individual and psychosocial. The relationship between satisfaction with family life and the emergent behavior of non-suicidal self-injury was established. The study had a quantitative, correlational, non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 200 high school students. The results indicate that a chaotic and unsatisfactory family environment may be a predisposing factor for the presence of emergent non-suicidal self-injurious behavior. Adolescents present self-injurious practices for various reasons: feelings of loneliness, insecurity behaviors, inadequate response to adversity. In addition, self-determination theory offers a plausible explanation for the relationship found in this research. The satisfaction of basic psychological needs, such as the need for competence, relatedness, and autonomy, can be achieved through a healthy and supportive family environment, which in turn can improve the emotional well-being of adolescents and reduce the risk of self-injurious behaviors.

Proceeding of the 3rd International Conference of Lignocellulose (ICONLIG) in conjunction with the 15th International Symposium of Indonesian Wood Research Society (IWoRS) Dear Colleagues,It is an honor for us to present the IOP proceedings of the 3rd ICONLIG in conjunction with the 15th International Symposium of IWoRS to the authors and participants of this annual event held by the Research Center for Biomass and Bioproducts, National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Indonesia. We then hope that you will find it fruitful and inspiring.In the current global crisis, we need urgent and impactful action to generate a transformative change benefiting this planet, generally, and our society, particularly. Further, scientists and engineers are challenged to provide relevant solutions in the chaotic environment, thus solving adverse problems, including pollution and waste, through beneficial innovations. They must find crucial points related to the issues the society is facing. In other words, they need to focus on the entire picture to identify a single problem from all angles - the mindset of the so-called sustainable system thinking. As an urgent action in response to this serious issue, an international platform, as a shared thinking space, is necessary for scientists, engineers, or even students to exchange knowledge and beneficial experiences of recent updates in the scopes of isolation, characterization, and application of plant biomass.The proceedings collection consists of the papers submitted to the 3rd ICONLIG in conjunction with the 15th International Symposium of IWoRS which was successfully held in Bogor, Indonesia, from September 20-21, 2023. The papers have gone through several tight peer-reviewed processes after the conference, and we were very serious in selecting the manuscripts suitable for this IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science (EES) proceedings. In addition to this program, several international keynote and invited speakers came from different countries, such as the United States of America, Sweden, Finland, Japan, China, and Malaysia, to present their remarkable works related to the fundamental sciences and potential applications of plant biomass for a sustainable future.The conference aims 1) to explore recent updates on the characterizations, technologies, and a broad spectrum of applications of plant biomass, 2) to provide the scientific communities with new insights into the new generation of materials made of renewable polymers for a sustainable future, 3) to convey excellent opportunities for the interaction and networking of all the participants, and eventually 4) to deepen technical skills and knowledge, strengthen global networking, and stronger connections for potential future research projects.The editors hope that this publication will give a broad overview of the potential impact of plant biomass for a sustainable future to the readers, and it will become a valuable reference for biomass-related research in the future.The editors would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to all the ICONLIG-IWoRS 2023 authors for their scientific contributions to this publication.Next, we would like to convey our heartfelt gratitude to all the reviewers for their given time and constructive comments or suggestions on the manuscripts.We would also like to express our gratitude to the Editorial members in general and the proceedings section, particularly for their hard work.Eventually, we are looking forward to the next ICONLIG meetings.

Home organization and adaptive behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder

PurposeA chaotic home environment, marked by disorganization, noise and a lack of routine, has negative associations with language development, social competence and executive functioning. This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of chaotic homes on adaptive behaviors, or behaviors that allow independent functioning, in children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) compared to neurotypical (NT) children. Children with ASD have difficulties with adaptive functioning in their environment, and identifying factors in the home that may exacerbate these behaviors will help in understanding the larger family dynamics that may affect behavior.Design/methodology/approachIn total, 251 primary caregivers completed questionnaires about their children’s adaptive behavior and the structure of the home environment.FindingsThe results of a mediation analysis found a significant indirect effect of ASD status leading to lower adaptive behaviors through home chaos. This suggests those with ASD experienced more household chaos than NT children, which influenced their lower adaptive behavior scores.Originality/valueThis research provides insights into the complex relationship between the home environment and child behavior in children with ASD.

Exploring Trends and Opportunities in Quantum‐Enhanced Advanced Photonic Illumination Technologies

AbstractThe development of quantum‐enabled photonic technologies has opened new avenues for advanced illumination across diverse fields, including sensing, computing, materials, and integration. This review highlights how Quantum‐enhanced sensing and imaging exploit nonclassical correlations to attain unprecedented accuracy in chaotic environments. As well as guaranteeing secure communications, quantum cryptography, protected by physical principles, ensures unbreakable cryptographic key exchange. As quantum computing speed increases exponentially, previously unimplementable uses for classical computers become feasible. On‐chip integration enables the mass production of quantum photonic components for pervasive applications by facilitating miniaturization and scalability. A powerful and flexible platform is produced when classical and quantum systems are combined. Quantum spin liquids and other topological materials can maintain their quantum states while subject to decoherence. Despite challenges with decoherence, production, and commercialization, quantum photonics is an exciting new area of study that promises lighting techniques impossible with conventional optics. To realize this promise, researchers from several fields must work together to solve complex technical problems and decode fundamental physics. Finally, advances in quantum‐enabled photonics have the potential to evolve quantum photonic devices and cutting‐edge imaging methods and usher in a new age of lighting options based on quantum dots.

Atlantic salmon in chronic turbulence: Effects on growth, behaviour, welfare, and stress

An increasing number of aquaculture companies aim to relocate Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) farms to offshore locations exposed to large wave action. However, the impact that this environment will have on the fish reared within remains unknown, raising questions about their coping ability and welfare. The purpose of this study was to address this knowledge gap and understand how Atlantic salmon respond to wave-induced turbulence. For 8 weeks, post-smolts were exposed to chronic turbulence created using specially designed wave-generating equipment. During the trial, feed intake, growth, behavioural conditioning, plasma biochemistry and welfare were monitored. At study end, swimming capacities were determined, and vertebral deformities were assessed in a sub-group of fish. Despite both control and turbulence groups doubling their weights, the turbulence group exhibited a 5% reduction in size. A drop- in appetite, 17% across the first five days, and deviant behaviour was observed for the first 3 weeks in the turbulence group. These disparities disappeared in the latter half of the trial, suggesting the fish acclimatized. Welfare scores, haematological parameters, critical swimming speeds and deformity prevalence remained similar across both groups, suggesting the fish were not impacted by chronic turbulence on a physical or physiological level. In conclusion, these findings demonstrate that Atlantic salmon is a robust species with the capacity to adapt to novel more chaotic environments without suffering substantial reductions in welfare or long-term production performance. This suggests that Atlantic salmon will be able to adapt and thrive in wave-exposed turbulent offshore farm environments.

Emerging trends in metal oxide-based electronic noses for healthcare applications: a review.

An electronic nose (E-nose) is a technology fundamentally inspired by the human nose, designed to detect, recognize, and differentiate specific odors or volatile components in complex and chaotic environments. Comprising an array of sensors with meticulously designed nanostructured architectures, E-noses translate the chemical information captured by these sensors into useful metrics using complex pattern recognition algorithms. E-noses can significantly enhance the quality of life by offering preventive point-of-care devices for medical diagnostics through breath analysis, and by monitoring and tracking hazardous and toxic gases in the environment. They are increasingly being used in defense and surveillance, medical diagnostics, agriculture, environmental monitoring, and product validation and authentication. The major challenge in developing a reliable E-nose involves miniaturization and low power consumption. Various sensing materials are employed to address these issues. This review presents the key advancements over the last decade in E-nose technology, specifically focusing on chemiresistive metal oxide sensing materials. It discusses their sensing mechanisms, integration into portable E-noses, and various data analysis techniques. Additionally, we review the primary metal oxide-based E-noses for disease detection through breath analysis. Finally, we address the major challenges and issues in developing and implementing a portable metal oxide-based E-nose.

The assumptions about life’s meaning may stem from a lack of introspection into one’s own purpose. These hardwired beliefs about the world often originate in our families and the places we call home. Having an effect on the world, no matter how big or little, is what gives people a feeling of purpose in life, rather than a predetermined destination. One’s purpose is the driving force behind their behavior. Continually and throughout the years. Purpose provides stability and direction even in the face of failures and a seemingly chaotic environment. The subject of life’s purpose may seem abstract, but it’s worth pondering. If people want to be happy and successful in every aspect of life, finding purpose is the key.

NON-FUNGIBLE TOKENS AS A WAY TO PROTECT GLOBAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Blockchain technology is increasingly being recognized worldwide as a cornerstone of security and stability in the digital realm. The Internet, often viewed as a seemingly chaotic, unpredictable, and insecure environment, is experiencing a significant paradigm shift thanks to disruptive innovations such as blockchains, which provide a robust mechanism to ensure the integrity of the global information flow. While the original purpose of this technology was to facilitate cryptocurrencies, its applications have since broadened, permeating law, business, and more recently, sectors like art and gaming. In this context, Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) are on the cusp of becoming a mainstream asset class. These unique digital assets, intricately tied to Intellectual Property, present an unexplored avenue for legal and business applications. This paper assesses the potential uses of NFTs for to protect global IP. The study further suggests an analogous interpretation of existing norms that regulate the connection with NFTs and local regulations, thus laying the groundwork for an initial self-regulatory framework. In conclusion, NFTs are poised to revolutionize IP protection globally. However, from a legal perspective, it also represents the necessity to develop a regulated self-regulatory system to frame such technology. As part of future research, we propose the creation of legal standards to accept and introduce NFTs as part of the IP protection laws.

Инновационное предпринимательство в эпоху глобальной нестабильности: стратегия поведения и факторы устойчивого управления проектами

The presented article is devoted to the study of the features of innovative entrepreneurship in the conditions of global instability. The author's position is that despite the failure of the mechanism of "creative destruction", innovative entrepreneurship remains the most important driver of socio-economic development. However, in order to remain an "innovator" in the world of ultra-dynamic changes, an enterprise needs a new behavior strategy that ensures the resistance and stability of its existence. Due to the lack of clear ideas about such a strategy, the author offers her own vision based on adaptability, proactivity (due to the ability of analytics and risk prevention), as well as planning the spatial location of production. In addition, the author wonders how the lack of clear behavioral business models in a chaotic external environment affects the ability to effectively manage business projects, and comes to the conclusion that the simple application of flexible methodologies without synchronicity with the values and behavioral incentives of the entrepreneur leads to a losing position and business amateurism. In this regard, the factors of sustainable project management are identified that can bring the methodology of their implementation in line with the requirements of unstable socio-economic conditions.

Effects of environmental conditions on healthcare worker wellbeing and quality of care: A qualitative study in Niger.

Environmental conditions (water, sanitation, hygiene, waste management, cleaning, energy, building design) are important for a safe and functional healthcare environment. Yet their full range of impacts are not well understood. In this study, we assessed the impact of environmental conditions on healthcare workers' wellbeing and quality of care, using qualitative interviews with 81 healthcare workers at 26 small healthcare facilities in rural Niger. We asked participants to report successes and challenges with environmental conditions and their impacts on wellbeing (physical, social, mental, and economic) and quality of care. We found that all environmental conditions contributed to healthcare workers' wellbeing and quality of care. The norm in facilities of our sample was poor environmental conditions, and thus participants primarily reported detrimental effects. We identified previously documented effects on physical health and safety from pathogen exposure, but also several novel effects on healthcare workers' mental and economic wellbeing and on efficiency, timeliness, and patient centeredness of care. Key wellbeing impacts included pathogen exposure for healthcare workers, stress from unsafe and chaotic working environments, staff dissatisfaction and retention challenges, out-of-pocket spending to avoid stockouts, and uncompensated labor. Key quality of care impacts included pathogen exposure for patients, healthcare worker time dedicated to non-medical tasks like water fetching (i.e., reduced efficiency), breakdowns and spoilage of equipment and supplies, and patient satisfaction with cleanliness and privacy. Inefficiency due to time lost and damaged supplies and equipment likely have substantial economic value and warrant greater consideration in research and policy making. Impacts on staff retention and care efficiency also have implications for health systems. We recommend that future research and decision making for policy and practice incorporate more holistic impact measures beyond just healthcare acquired infections and reconsider the substantial contribution that environmental conditions make to the safety of healthcare facilities and strength of health systems.

Original Research: Exploring Medication Safety Practices from the Nurse's Perspective.

Medication preparation and administration are complex tasks that nurses must perform daily within today's complicated health care environment. Despite more than two decades of efforts to reduce medication errors, it's well known that such errors remain prevalent. Obtaining insight from direct care nurses may clarify where opportunities for improvement exist and guide future efforts to do so. The study purpose was to explore direct care nurses' perspectives on and experiences with medication safety practices and errors. A qualitative descriptive study was conducted among direct care nurses employed across a large health care system. Data were collected using semistructured interview questions with participants in focus groups and one-on-one meetings and were analyzed using qualitative direct content analysis. A total of 21 direct care nurses participated. Four major themes emerged that impact the medication safety practices of and errors by nurses: the care environment, nurse competency, system influences, and the error paradigm. These themes were often interrelated. Most participants depicted chaotic environments, heavy nursing workloads, and distractions and interruptions as increasing the risk of medication errors. Many seemed unsure about what an error was or could be. The complexity of medication safety practices makes it difficult to implement improvement strategies. Understanding the perspectives and experiences of direct care nurses is imperative to implementing such strategies effectively. Based on the study findings, potential solutions should include actively addressing environmental barriers to safe medication practices, ensuring more robust medication management education and training (including guidance regarding the definition of medication errors and the importance of reporting), and revising policies and procedures with input from direct care nurses.

Experience of New Graduate Nurses in Nurse Residency Programs During the COVID-19 World Pandemic.

Individuals who entered any nursing program during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) world pandemic were exposed to a different and chaotic learning environment. The goal of this study was to describe the experience of 452 new graduate nurses (NGNs) who entered the profession between 2020 and 2022. This study was a qualitative thematic analysis of an open-ended survey from the American Nurses Credentialing Center Practice Transition Accreditation Program® (PTAP®). The thematic analysis resulted in five themes: the pandemic was a significant disruptor, the program was a generally negative experience, the quality of the preceptors and mentors made a difference, the content of the program made an impact, and the residency program prepared NGNs for the RN role by building confidence and promoting relationship building and a sense of community. The 2020-2022 world pandemic created a challenging environment for NGNs to enter nursing and had implications for practice. [J Contin Educ Nurs. 2024;55(2):87-93.].
