Text Mining Analysis of Changes in Consumer Perceptions of Food Index

This study conducted a topic modeling analysis with the BERT model to identify the themes of the review texts on seafood written by consumers and compare them with the empirical analysis results from surveys. More specifically, this study analyzed the relationship between consumers’ perceptions of seafood and the food index level, a subdomain of the PKNU Maritime Index. In particular, the correlation was explored to verify the relationship between the Korean consumers’ evaluation of seafood concerning taste, nutrition, variety, price, and safety and the food index. The findings were as follows. First, consumers’ perceptions of seafood were found to have a significant positive correlation with the food index. Second, the multiple regression analysis showed that, apart from the variety, the food index had a significant positive effect in the order of safety, nutrition, taste, and price. Such research findings showed that it is necessary to understand consumer perceptions of seafood, and the food index centered on the Northeast Asian Sea could be used as a foundation to improve consumer experience and satisfaction. This study further expanded the scope of existing marine humanities research by conducting text-mining analysis, providing theoretical and practical implications.

Navigating the complexities of online opinion formation: An insight into consumer cognitive heuristics

Few studies have considered changes in consumer perceptions when faced with multiple levels of review ratings. Drawing on availability heuristic theory, we aim to explore the synergistic effects of different levels of review ratings on consumers' cognitive processes. Using a longitudinal dataset of reviews from 4637 restaurants on Yelp, we conducted an empirical study using individual and time-dual fixed-effects models. Our findings indicate that easy-to-retrieve (review) rating is better than aggregate ratings in predicting consumer purchase decisions. The inconsistency between easy-to-retrieve and aggregate ratings influences consumers' cognitive heuristic when interpreting online reviews. Additionally, inconsistencies and proportional changes in expert and amateur reviews influence consumer perceptions of different levels of information. Furthermore, we conducted two online experiments to validate the distinguishing impact of aggregate versus easy-to-retrieve ratings on consumers. These findings provide insightful implications for understanding consumers’ cognitive heuristics in online consumption contexts.

SUCCESSFUL CASES OF BRANDING THROUGH GRAPHIC DESIGN: ANALYSIS OF SPECIFIC CASES WHERE GRAPHIC DESIGN INFLUENCED BRAND SUCCESS

Over the past decade, graphic design has become a pivotal element in the formation and management of brands. Its influence on consumer perception is gaining increasing significance in saturated markets and growing competition. The research problem revolves around the necessity for a thorough analysis of specific cases where graphic design emerged as a key factor in achieving success for brands. The aim of this study is to explore the impact of graphic design on the success of brands through specific cases, analyzing elements that led to positive changes in consumer perception. The object of the study encompasses brands from various market segments, where graphic design played a decisive role in achieving a high level of recognition and success. The subject of the research includes specific elements of graphic design, such as logos, packaging, and visual components, which have influenced the creation of a strong brand image. To attain the objectives, qualitative and quantitative research methods were employed, including consumer surveys, interviews with designers and brand representatives, as well as an analysis of visual elements in graphic design. The findings of the research underscore the importance of graphic design in shaping successful brands.

Systematic Literature Review on Consumer Motivations Regarding Luxury

Purpose: The luxury industry is undergoing rapid changes owing to emerging technologies and social environments. This has resulted in changes in consumer perceptions, motivations, and behaviors. Thus, this study aims to understand the current advances related to consumer motivations towards luxury to advance the latest consumer profiles and behavior models in such a complex and rapidly changing context. Design/methodology/approach: The Scopus database was thoroughly searched for academic journal articles published in English related to consumer motivation for luxury products. A total of 141 articles were initially collected, and the abstracts of all articles were manually reviewed to verify their relevance. Irrelevant, incomplete, or duplicate articles were excluded, resulting in 119 articles for further analysis and synthesis. Findings: Four major themes based on research characteristics and analysis details were explored: (1) general consumer motivation, (2) motivation of different consumer groups, (3) motivation in different luxury product or service categories, and (4) brand strategy and the brandconsumer relationship. A holistic framework is proposed based on these themes to better understand consumer motivation in the luxury industry. Originality: Despite several studies on consumer motivation in the luxury industry, no comprehensive analysis has synthesized the two. This study aims to address this gap by conducting a systematic literature review.

The Brand Value of Earnings: An Event Study of Consumer Responses to Earnings Announcements

ABSTRACT We provide evidence from the first short-window event study of consumers’ perceptual responses to earnings announcements using daily consumer perception data. We document a positive association between the change in consumers’ overall perceptions of a brand at the time of the earnings announcement and the earnings surprise—that is, a positive consumer earnings response coefficient (CERC). CERC is larger when there is greater traditional news or social media activity, indicating that news dissemination is an important channel for consumers to respond to earnings news. Moreover, CERC varies based on brand and consumer characteristics. Changes in consumer perceptions at the time of the earnings announcement are positively associated with changes in purchase consideration and intent and with changes in realized future sales growth. To maximize identification, we document a positive and statistically significant CERC in a controlled experiment. Our findings demonstrate the importance of earnings to an important stakeholder. How Does an Artisan Cooperative Impact Food Perception and Consumer Behaviors? A Rapid Rural Appraisal of Women in East Africa

We examined the impact of artisan cooperatives on East African women related to changes in consumer perception and food choice. We sought to understand how artisan cooperatives were impacting women’s food security, diet, and nutrition. To comprehend the lived experiences of women, a qualitative, phenomenological study was conducted within three purposively selected cooperatives in Rwanda and Kenya. Data was collected using Rapid Rural Appraisal (RRA) methodologies with three activities. When given a choice, women did not always eat healthier despite having more money and information about healthy diets. Diets shifted to include more sugar and fruit but less vegetables. Culture and location impacted how they cooked, what food was available to them, and what foods they chose to consume. Women explained how a higher income provided greater agency when buying food. It is crucial to comprehend how culture affects a person’s diet before implementation of nutrition programs. Further research is needed to determine if cooperatives geared toward women’s empowerment and economic sustainability can enhance the nutritional benefits of increased income in culturally relevant ways. This study has implications regarding sustainable development goals with international development programs that utilize locally sourced foods and are culturally viable.

How e-commerce support economic growth amid COVID-19: evidence from Chinese economy.

The study's motivation develops from the need to comprehend how e-commerce affects economic resilience and recovery amid the COVID-19 crisis, particularly in the Chinese economy, and to provide empirical evidence to help stakeholders and policymakers understand how to use e-commerce for economic growth. This study aims to investigate how e-commerce supported economic expansion during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly emphasizing the Chinese economy. Because of the rapid changes in consumer perceptions brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic, this study gives a thorough methodology for assessing the success of e-commerce businesses. The application's twenty-five secondary standards include two sustainability elements, sustainable development, and carbon dioxide emissions. Three Indian e-commerce companies serve as a case study to illustrate the assessment methodology. To capture the uncertainty in the judicial process, the findings are achieved via multi-criteria judgment (MCDM) technique called fuzzy VIKOR. In addition, quantitative research is used to rate and compare e-commerce businesses in terms of how well it meets the needs of their customers. The results break down the most crucial criterion and sub-criteria for online retailers to meet to meet consumer aspirations and remain profitable and environmentally responsible in the long run.

Consumer decision making is an integration process that combines knowledge to evaluate two or more alternative behaviors and choose one of them. The result of this integration process becomes a choice that is presented cognitively as a desire to behave. This research is motivated by the problem of declining sales over the last two years. This decrease in sales is allegedly due to the unattractive appearance of the website in accordance with 7C, namely context, content, community, customization, communication, commerce and connection, then changes in consumer perceptions of product quality resulting in a decrease in purchasing decisions. There are three variables in this research, namely the use of the website ( X1), product quality as the independent variable (X2) and purchase decision as the dependent variable (Y), with data sources from the literature obtained from the results of literature studies and from references in the form of book and internet sources related to research. The results of this study indicate that the use of the website and product quality are considered quite good by consumers and consumers feel confident about their purchasing decisions.

Effects of COVID-19 pandemic on consumers’ food label reading behaviours and trust in food label information

PurposeThere are many studies investigating people’s eating habits during the COVID-19 period, and people have been encouraged to eat healthier. Healthy nutrition is made possible by making healthy food choices and food labels are one of the tools that help consumers make healthy food choices. Therefore, the primary aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on consumers’ food label reading behaviours and their level of trust in food labels.Design/methodology/approachThis cross-sectional study was conducted on 1,012 adults aged 18–65 years from seven different regions of Turkey. Participants’ food label reading behaviours and their trust in food label information were assessed using an online questionnaire, and COVID-19 fear scores were determined using the fear of COVID-19 scale (FCV-19S).FindingsAlthough not statistically significant, participants’ rate of reading food labels increased during the pandemic (65.6% vs 68.7%, p = 0.078). On the contrary, trust in label information decreased significantly (52.1% vs 43.9%, p < 0.001). In addition, increased COVID-19 fear was associated with an increased rate of food label reading and decreased trust in the label information (p < 0.001).Research limitations/implicationsBecause of the study’s cross-sectional nature, the authors cannot provide a causal link between COVID-19 fear and food label reading behaviours and trust in food label information. However, it is difficult to investigate this causal link due to difficulties in studies of consumer behaviour and food choice (e.g. multifactorial effects and complexity). Second, because the present study’s findings were based on self-report data, there may be a risk of resource bias. Nevertheless, the authors think that this study will shed light on future studies as it is the first time that the COVID-19 pandemic has investigated consumers’ food label reading habits and their trust in food labels.Practical implicationsConsidering the pandemic as an opportunity to change consumer behaviour, it may be useful to provide food label reading education to consumers, especially during this period. In addition, the information given on the label should be clear and understandable for a better understanding of the food label information. Furthermore, it may be beneficial to conduct food inspections more frequently and share the results with the public to increase consumers’ trust in food labels. Moreover, as the food system shifts towards a “new normal”, it is critical for policymakers to understand the changes in consumer perceptions, preferences and trust in foods.Originality/valueCOVID-19 fear affected consumers’ food label reading behaviours. As far as the authors know, there is no study about the effects of COVID-19 on consumers’ food label reading behaviours.

An Exploratory Study of Consumers' Perceptions of Product Types and Factors Affecting Purchase Intentions in the Subscription Economy: 99 Subscription Business Cases.

This study examined changes in consumer perceptions of product types and purchase intentions when a subscription model is introduced for products normally sold on a one-time basis. It then proposed product types likely to affect consumers’ purchasing intentions in the subscription economy and product categories best suited for the subscription economy. To this end, an experimental study was conducted with experts and general consumers using 99 subscription business cases. It was found that a regular delivery of products on a subscription basis gradually changes consumer perceptions of the products from utilitarian to hedonic and from search to experience ones. It was also found that consumption motivation is an important predictor of consumer purchase intentions in the subscription economy. In addition, experience-utilitarian and search-utilitarian products were associated with the highest purchase intentions among experts and general consumers, respectively. This suggests that a company’s strategy should be adjusted in line with consumers’ understanding of the subscription model. Therefore, suppliers need to understand the full implications of the new model, such as changed consumer perceptions and purchasing intentions, and strive to design a subscription model that is suitable for the target segments and product selections.

This research aims to understand the effect of changes in consumer perceptions in terms of price, quality and brand image on consumer shopping behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic. The type of research used is explanatory research, with a quantitative approach. The research subjects are Go-food customers in Yogyakarta during the COVID-19 pandemic and the objects of research are consumer perceptions, prices, service quality, brand image and consumer shopping behavior. and customer satisfaction. Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires and documentation which were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that consumer perceptions in terms of price, service quality, and brand image had a significant positive effect on consumer shopping behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Impacts of the Seattle Sweetened Beverage Tax on the Perceived Healthfulness of Sweetened Beverages.

Sweetened beverage taxes are associated with significant reductions in the purchase of sweetened beverages. However, it is unclear whether these taxes play a role in shifting perceptions about sweetened beverages and their health impacts. We utilized pre- and post-tax survey data collected from residents in Seattle, WA, a city that implemented a sweetened beverage tax in 2018 and from residents in an untaxed comparison area. We used income-stratified difference-in-difference linear probability models to compare net changes in the perceived healthfulness of overall sweetened beverage consumption and of different types of sugary beverages over time and across income groups. We found significant increases in the percentage of Seattle respondents with lower incomes who agreed that sweetened beverage consumption raises the risk of diabetes (DD = 9 percentage points (pp) (95% CI: 5 pp, 13 pp); p = 0.002), heart disease (DD = 7 pp (95% CI: 2 pp, 12 pp); p = 0.017), and serious health problems (DD = 12 pp (95% CI: 5 pp, 19 pp); p = 0.009), above and beyond changes in the comparison area. The most prominent changes in perceived health impacts of sweetened beverages were found among lower-income Seattle respondents, while fewer changes were found among higher-income Seattle respondents. Future work could examine the relationship between exposure to pro-tax messaging and changes in consumer perceptions of sweetened beverages.

Recent Changes in Consumer Perception in Sneaker Resale Market

The Sneaker resale market is becoming more popular beyond the enthusiasts, with economic resources such as stocks and investments available to consumers. As a result, its influence is also expanding. Thus, we compare the keywords “Sneaker resale” with a general keyword “Sneaker purchasing” to understand the overall perception of Sneaker resale. Data collection and analysis were based on the TF-IDF value by collecting and refining keywords for “Sneaker resale” and “General Sneaker purchase” through Textom 5 to derive the top 50 keywords NodeXL 1.0.1 program was used to measure centrality and visualize them. As a result, economic concepts were derived from the Sneaker resale keywords through Shoes-Tech and Sneaker-Tech. In general, keywords related to the function and external elements of the product were used, rather than economic keywords, such as “pretty,” “height,” “soles,” and keywords, such as “investment,” “financial technology,” were derived from the keywords of “Sneaker resale.” This confirms that Sneaker resale is now recognized as a market with new economic benefits. This work analyzes the perception of Sneaker resale through text mining and social network analysis, providing a new strategy for the Sneaker resale platform and a foundation to help the development of the Sneaker resale market.

Products consumed by society vary according to needs, preferences and purchasing power. Consumers prefer fast food products for different reasons. These differences ensure that the food and beverage industry have a dynamic and competitive structure. The increasing number of consumers and changing customer demands / desires can cause changes in consumer perception. Questionnaire form was used to obtain data in the study and data were obtained from 406 participants. The data obtained were analyzed with the help of SPSS. As a result of the research, some differences were determined between importance and satisfaction in some criteria. The criteria for which the perceived value decreases consist of cleaning / hygiene, the taste of the product, the quality of the product, the service speed, the quality of the service, the variety of the menu and the price. The criteria for which the perceived value does not change much are nonfood and beverage services, the location / location of the restaurant, name / brand and ambiance. In addition, 70% of the participants stated that healthier menu items should be included, and 62% stated that the nutritional values of the products should be shown.

A Study on the Changes in Consumer Perceptions of the Relationship between Ethical Consumption and Consumption Value: Focusing on Analyzing Ethical Consumption and Consumption Value Keyword Changes Using Big Data

The purpose of this study was to analyze big data to identify the sub-dimensions of ethical consumption, as well as the consumption value associated with ethical consumption that changes over time. For this study, data were collected from Naver and Daum using the keyword ‘ethical consumption’ and frequency and matrix data were extracted through Textom, for the period January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2018. In addition, a twoway mode network analysis was conducted using the UCINET 6.0 program and visualized using the NetDraw function. The results of text mining show increasing keyword frequency year-on-year, indicating that interest in ethical consumption has grown. The sub-dimensions derived for 2014 and 2015 are fair trade, ethical consumption, eco-friendly products, and cooperatives and for 2016 are fair trade, ethical consumption, eco-friendly products and animal welfare. The results of deriving consumption value keywords were classified as emotional value, social value, functional value and conditional value. The influence of functional value was found to be growing over time. Through network analysis, the relationship between the sub-dimensions of ethical consumption and consumption values derived each year from 2014 to 2018 showed a significantly strong correlation between eco-friendly product consumption and emotional value, social value, functional value and conditional value.

COVID-19 and Retail Grocery Management: Insights From a Broad-Based Consumer Survey

The grocery retail industry is encountering unique challenges and opportunities during the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). The pandemic led to various transformations in the food retail industry, including changes in consumer perception and behavior. Although the pandemic has a situational nature, these transformations could have both temporary and long-lasting effects on reforms of the grocery retail industry. We examined consumer retail grocery shopping behavior change during the pandemic using a national survey among 2500 U.S. adults. Survey results show that consumers now have higher expectations for in-store safety; they have reduced the frequency of store patronage, travel time, and in-store duration; they have shifted from regular shopping schedule and shopping destinations; and they have spent more per shopping trip. The increased spending at brick-and-mortar stores also paralleled with the expanded transactions across various types of online grocery shopping platforms. We further arrived at practical managerial implications in both the short term and long term for brick-and-mortar stores as well as online grocery vendors.

The Covid-19 pandemic has, along with recession, led to fears of an imminent economic crisis. The nations around the globe have implemented lockdown and selfquarantine measures to prevent COVID 19 from spreading. The entire period of lockdown and other allied measures of social distancing have brought safety to people but with a sharp decline in the Economy. In an advancing situation of pandemic, when it is unpredictable about its prolonged effect, there is an increasing stress on the individual, society and legislative bodies. This situation has led to various Socio-Economic repercussions across the globe. In lieu of such situation, the economic crisis has impacted almost every facets of industry with tourism and hospitaly being impacted massively. The tourism industry have suffered a loss of 850 million to 1.1 billion international tourists since the pandemic of Covid19. In such situations the tourism industry should operationalize and optimise their service facilities without compromising the customer satisfaction. This investigation have explored the perceptions of the consumer and its relevant changes in their demand pattern from the destination wedding planners after the emergence of Covid19 pandemic. An mix method research design of Embedded sequential technique have been followed to extract the factors affecting the perception of the consumer about the destination wedding events after the Covid19 scenario. The implied findings of the research will help the event planners and destination wedding agencies to rationalise their service delivery with relevant changes in consumer perception after COVID 19.

У статті обґрунтовано значення та перспективи розвитку digital-маркетингу як дієвого інструменту антикризового розвитку ресторанного бізнесу, який одним із перших постраждав від пандемії COVID-19. Аргументовано необхідність переосмислення діючих бізнес-моделей підприємствами ресторанного бізнесу з огляду на можливості digital-маркетингу як дієвого інструменту їх антикризового розвитку. Визначено переваги онлайн-маркетингу, який орієнтований на підвищення клієнтоорієнтованості, зміцнення емоційного зв’язку з клієнтом підприємства ресторанного бізнесу. Із метою використання можливостей диджиталізації у сфері ресторанного бізнесу визначено ключові трансформації клієнтського досвіду, які констатують факт зрушень у сприйнятті споживачем базових граней як самого підприємства ресторанного бізнесу, так і ресторанного продукту. Визначено основні методи цифрового маркетингу, які можуть бути використані під час здійснення антикризового менеджменту підприємствами ресторанного бізнесу в сучасних умовах. Сформовано комплекс переваг цифрової трансформації моделей підприємств ресторанного бізнесу в умовах пандемії COVID-19.
