Spatially selective isoelectronic doping has been achieved in ZnSe quantum wells by the deposition of ultrathin layers of ZnTe on monolayer scale. Pronounced exciton localization effects ensue, with very large changes in both the radiative recombination rates and the recombination spectra. Insight is obtained to the particular nature of Te as an isoelectronic center in ZnSe.
