Standard citations of zoological scientific names and Chinese names in <italic>Chinese Pharmacopoeia</italic>

Chinese Pharmacopoeia is the legal standard for drug administration in China. Scientific accuracy, normativity and authority are the fundamental attributes of Chinese Pharmacopoeia . However, historical non-standard zoological scientific name citations are gradually accumulating because of an absence of a comprehensive way of verifying these scientific names in every version of Chinese Pharmacopoeia . This paper compares the original animal scientific names in Chinese Pharmacopoeia with Fauna Sinica , Official Lists and Indexes of Names and Works in Zoology and several other international animal catalog databases. The statistics and analysis of this non-standard citation phenomena of original animal scientific names and Chinese names are recorded in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2015 edition) according to the principles of the fourth edition of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN) and, therefore propose critical revisions. The authors hope this paper will help the authors in accurately citing scientific names and aid the revision of non-standard name citations in Chinese Pharmacopoeia .

Quasars Probing Quasars. X. The Quasar Pair Spectral Database

The rare close projection of two quasars on the sky provides the opportunity to study the host galaxy environment of a foreground quasar in absorption against the continuum emission of a background quasar. For over a decade the "Quasars probing quasars" series has utilized this technique to further the understanding of galaxy formation and evolution in the presence of a quasar at z>2, resolving scales as small as a galactic disc and from bound gas in the circumgalactic medium to the diffuse environs of intergalactic space. Presented here, is the public release of the quasar pair spectral database utilized in these studies. In addition to projected pairs at z>2, the database also includes quasar pair members at z<2, gravitational lens candidates and quasars closely separated in redshift that are useful for small-scale clustering studies. In total the database catalogs 5627 distinct objects, with 4083 lying within 5' of at least one other source. A spectral library contains 3582 optical and near-infrared spectra for 3028 of the cataloged sources. As well as reporting on 54 newly discovered quasar pairs, we outline the key contributions made by this series over the last ten years, summarize the imaging and spectroscopic data used for target selection, discuss the target selection methodologies, describe the database content and explore some avenues for future work. The distributions of meteor substance in the Galactic coordinate system according to the MARS radar database and SonotaCo's TV catalogue

Research goal: the search for "extrasolar" sources of meteor substance in the Earth atmosphere using positions of meteor radiants in the Galactic coordinate system; comparison of the distributions of meteor substance in the Galactic coordinate system from the radar database of MARS (Meteor Radar Automated System in Kharkiv) and from the SonotaCo's TV catalogue. Hyperbolic meteors can be associated with the "extrasolar" space. In such case, properties of their "extrasolar" motion may manifest both in the orbital parameters of Earth meteors and in their Galactic coordinates. Extensive observations can give the answer to such hypothesis. Two large databases of meteoroid orbital elements exist: MARS radar database, obtained in 1972–1978 in Ukraine (Kashcheyev and Tkachuk, 1980), and SonotaCo's TV catalogue obtained in 2007–2013 in Japan (SonotaCo, 2009). Differences were found in the distributions in these two databases, as well as between different samples taken from them. Baseline differences between these two sets of observational data in magnitude, observational techniques and other parameters demonstrate the selection effect in the distribution of meteoric substance. Based on a visual analysis, we conclude that we cannot rule out the possibility of the concentration of the radiants of MARS hyperbolas relative to apexes of the Sun motion in Equatorial/Galactic coordinate systems. The coordinates of the apexes of Sun's motion are determined: for the point with respect to the nearest stars in Hercules constellation as (270,30)/(56,23) degrees; and for the point with respect to the Galactic center in Cygnus as (318,48)/(0,90) degrees.

The Library of Belarusian-Russian University: The history and contemporaneity

The Belarusian-Russia University was established on the basis of Mogilev State Technical University, in accordance with the Agreement signed between the government of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation (Mogilev, January 19, 2001). New objectives of the library are set up due to new programs to be taught at the University. Today, the library supports 16 education programs as provided by the Belarus education standards, and 7 programs as provided by the Russian standard. The author discusses in particular: collection development funding; delivery of books published by Belarus and Russia publishers’; establishing the repository “Belarusian-Russian University E-library and digital catalog databases, and among them The Proceedings of the Belarusian-Russian University Researchers, «Authors’ abstracts. Theses», «Digital Documents»; library’s publishing activities, personal bibliographies of the prominent university scholars and researchers). The Library also acts as the coordination regional methodological center. The author concludes that the Library of Belarusian-Russian University plays a significant role in education and science promotion, opens access to the cultural heritage and intellectual resources for the students, professors and scientists, and offers relevant information products and services.

Revised and Updated Catalogue of the First Byurakan Survey Late-Type Stars. 2nd Edition

Eighteen lists of late-type stars (LTSs) have been published between 1990 and 2016. These LTSs have been found in the low-dispersion spectroscopic plates of the First Byurakan Survey (FBS). The systematic search and selection was carried out on a surface _16000 deg2 on almost the whole area of the FBS. As a result, \Revised And Updated Catalogue Of The First Byurakan Survey Of Late-Type Stars" was generated (LTSs, _rst version). Since 2007, all FBS low-resolution spectral plates are digitized, and Digitized First Byurakan Survey (DFBS) database and second catalog of objects has been assembled. All DFBS spectral plates are analysed with the help of standard image analysis softwares (FITSView and SAO Image ds9) and numerous of comparatively faint LTSs were discovered. We present the 2nd version of the FBS catalogue of LTSs with new data. We have made cross-correlation with the Digitized First Byurakan Survey (DFBS), the United State Naval Observatory-B1.0 Catalogue, the Two Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS), the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (new version-ALLWISE) catalogue, the Infrared Astronomical Satellite Point Source Catalogue/Faint Source Catalogue, the AKARI catalogue, the ROSAT Bright Source Catalogue/Faint Source Catalogue, the General Catalogue of Variable Stars, Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) photometric catalogue. We have added updated IMBAD data for the objects. For numerous of the new detected objects we present accurate Digitized Sky Survey 2 positions, approximate spectral subtypes refined from the DFBS low-dispersion spectra, luminosity classes estimated from 2MASS colours, and available proper motions for 1471 FBS LTSs. 2nd Version of the Revised and Updated Catalogue lists a large number of completely new objects, which promise to extend very significantly the census of M giants, faint N-type Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB) carbon stars, CH {type carbon giants at high Galactic latitudes, also M dwarfs in the vicinity of the Sun up to 16.0-17.0 mag. in visual. We present also some important data from the Gaia DR2 data base for FBS LTSs. Some supplementary spectra obtained with the Byurakan Observatory 2.6 m telescope and LAMOST telescope are shown.

Rola wizualizacji danych w komunikacji naukowej. Nowe sposoby wizualizacji danych

Teza/cel: Przedmiot artykułu stanowi zagadnienie wizualizacji danych w nauce. Celem artykułu jest dokonanie systematycznego przeglądu nowych sposobów i narzędzi wizualizacji danych naukowych. Metoda: Zastosowano metodę analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa. Dokonano przeglądu piśmiennictwa z lat 2010-2015 biorąc pod uwagę publikacje w języku polskim i angielskim. Zebrane piśmiennictwo poddano kategoryzacji, celem wyodrębnienia kluczowych trendów w wizualizacji danych naukowych. Analizy piśmiennictwa dokonano w oparciu o wyszukiwanie w bazach Biblioteki Narodowej, katalogu WorldCat oraz zagranicznych bazach danych, które przeszukano za pomocą narzędzia Google Scholar. Uzupełniająco dokonano także przeglądu zasobów sieciowych, w tym szczególnie blogów i portali branżowych. Wyniki: Do najczęściej omawianych sposobów wizualizacji danych za pomocą nowych narzędzi należą: infografiki, postery, hologramy, druk 3D oraz wizualizacje tworzone w środowisku wirtualnej i rozszerzonej rzeczywistości. Wnioski: Ważnym problemem wymagającym rozwiązania jest przetwarzanie dynamicznych, rozległych i nieustrukturyzowanych zbiorów danych, które wymykają się tradycyjnym analizom. Potrzebne jest tworzenie wizualizacji danych w taki sposób, by były one dla użytkowników angażujące, interaktywne i sprzyjały immersji.

PolyA_DB 3 catalogs cleavage and polyadenylation sites identified by deep sequencing in multiple genomes.

PolyA_DB is a database cataloging cleavage and polyadenylation sites (PASs) in several genomes. Previous versions were based mainly on expressed sequence tags (ESTs), which had a limited amount and could lead to inaccurate PAS identification due to the presence of internal A-rich sequences in transcripts. Here, we present an updated version of the database based solely on deep sequencing data. First, PASs are mapped by the 3′ region extraction and deep sequencing (3′READS) method, ensuring unequivocal PAS identification. Second, a large volume of data based on diverse biological samples increases PAS coverage by 3.5-fold over the EST-based version and provides PAS usage information. Third, strand-specific RNA-seq data are used to extend annotated 3′ ends of genes to obtain more thorough annotations of alternative polyadenylation (APA) sites. Fourth, conservation information of PAS across mammals sheds light on significance of APA sites. The database (URL: http://www.polya-db.org/v3) currently holds PASs in human, mouse, rat and chicken, and has links to the UCSC genome browser for further visualization and for integration with other genomic data.

Flipped Library Instruction Does Not Lead to Learning Gains for First-Year English Students

A Review of:&#x0D; Rivera, E. (2017). Flipping the classroom in freshman English library instruction: A comparison study of a flipped class versus a traditional lecture method. New Review of Academic Librarianship, 23(1), 18-27. http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/13614533.2016.1244770&#x0D; &#x0D; Abstract&#x0D; &#x0D; Objective – To determine whether a flipped classroom approach to freshman English information literacy instruction improves student learning outcomes.&#x0D; &#x0D; Design – Quasi-experimental.&#x0D; &#x0D; Setting – Private suburban university with 7,000 graduate and undergraduate students.&#x0D; &#x0D; Subjects – First-year English students.&#x0D; &#x0D; Methods – Students in six sections of first-year “English 2” received library instruction; three sections received flipped library instruction and three sections received traditional library instruction. Students in the flipped classroom sections were assigned two videos to watch before class, as an introduction to searching the Library’s catalog and key academic databases. These students were also expected to complete pre-class exercises that allowed them to practice what they learned through the videos. The face-to-face classes involved a review of the flipped materials alongside additional activities.&#x0D; &#x0D; Works cited pages from the students’ final papers were collected from all six sections, 31 from the flipped sections and 34 from the non-flipped sections. A rubric was used to rate the works cited pages. The rubric was based on the Association of College and Research Libraries’ Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education (ACRL, 2000), Standard Two, Outcome 3a, and included three criteria: “authority,” “timeliness,” and “variety.” Each criterion was rated at one of three levels: “exemplary,” “competent,” or “developing.”&#x0D; &#x0D; Main Results – Works cited pages from the students who received non-flipped instruction were more likely to score “exemplary” for at least one of the three criteria when compared to works cited pages from the flipped instruction students (68.6% vs. 52.7%). Differences were found in the scores for “timeliness” (88.2% non-flipped scored “exemplary” compared to 58% flipped), and “variety” (55.9% non-flipped scored “exemplary” vs. 35.5% flipped). This pattern was not found for the “authority” category, in which 61.8% of non-flipped works cited pages scored “exemplary” vs. 64.5% of flipped works cited pages. &#x0D; &#x0D; Conclusion – The results suggest that the flipped library instruction approach did not improve student learning outcomes. The study’s findings are limited by the small sample size, the unknown impact of the variability of research assignments between sections, and the lack of control over whether students in the flipped sections completed the pre-class assignments. The author also notes that future research should examine how well the content of flipped library instruction mirrors that of non-flipped instruction sessions. The study concludes that the flipped classroom model needs further research to understand whether it is a strong fit for one-shot library instruction.

Statistical and geostatistical approaches to study spatiotemporal uncertainties in earthquake catalog databases

Lack of data in time and location domain is a main problem in statistical seismology. Therefore, several methods have been developed to make synthetic catalogs to compensate these uncertainties. The approaches introduced in this paper try to decrease these uncertainties. A statistical tool has been determined to study the lack of data in time domain and revise a magnitude-frequency relationship in one of the very high-seismic regions in the world, northwest of Iran (44.00 to 48.00 E and 35.60 to 40.00 N). A geostatistical simulation method has also been utilized to reduce the uncertainties in the spatial domain. Variogram tool has been introduced as a spatial tool to assign a spatial regression among data in various directions. A geostatistical simulation produced a representative, synthetic catalog with 10,707 events to reduce spatial uncertainties (the number of data in the earthquake catalogs was 307 events). The synthetic database was classified by a geographical information system (GIS) based on simulated magnitudes to reveal the underlying seismicity patterns. Although some regions with high seismicity correspond to known faults, as far as seismic patterns are concerned, the new method could highlight locations of interest that have not been previously determined. It also suggests some previously unrecognized lineation and clusters in likely future strain release.

An ontology for satellite databases

This paper demonstrates the development of ontology for satellite databases. First, I create a computational ontology for the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) Satellite Database (UCSSD for short), called the UCS Satellite Ontology (or UCSSO). Second, in developing UCSSO I show that The Space Situational Awareness Ontology (SSAO) (Rovetto and Kelso 2016)--an existing space domain reference ontology--and related ontology work by the author (Rovetto 2015, 2016) can be used either (i) with a database-specific local ontology such as UCSSO, or (ii) in its stead. In case (i), local ontologies such as UCSSO can reuse SSAO terms, perform term mappings, or extend it. In case (ii), the author's orbital space ontology work, such as the SSAO, is usable by the UCSSD and organizations with other space object catalogs, as a reference ontology suite providing a common semantically-rich domain model. The SSAO, UCSSO, and the broader Orbital Space Environment Domain Ontology project is online at http://purl.org/space-ontology and GitHub. This ontology effort aims, in part, to provide accurate formal representations of the domain for various applications. Ontology engineering has the potential to facilitate the sharing and integration of satellite data from federated databases and sensors for safer spaceflight.

The VIMOS Ultra Deep Survey first data release: Spectra and spectroscopic redshifts of 698 objects up to zspec ~ 6 in CANDELS

This paper describes the first data release (DR1) of the VIMOS Ultra Deep Survey (VUDS). The VUDS-DR1 is the release of all low-resolution spectroscopic data obtained in 276.9 arcmin2 of the CANDELS-COSMOS and CANDELS-ECDFS survey areas, including accurate spectroscopic redshifts zspec and individual spectra obtained with VIMOS on the ESO-VLT. A total of 698 objects have a measured redshift, with 677 galaxies, two type-I AGN, and a small number of 19 contaminating stars. The targets of the spectroscopic survey are selected primarily on the basis of their photometric redshifts to ensure a broad population coverage. About 500 galaxies have zspec &gt; 2, 48of which have zspec &gt; 4; the highest reliable redshifts reach beyond zspec = 6. This data set approximately doubles the number of galaxies with spectroscopic redshifts at z &gt; 3 in these fields. We discuss the general properties of the VUDS–DR1 sample in terms of the spectroscopic redshift distribution, the distribution of Lyman-α equivalent widths, and physical properties including stellar masses M⋆ and star formation rates derived from spectral energy distribution fitting with the knowledge of zspec. We highlight the properties of the most massive star-forming galaxies, noting the wide range in spectral properties, with Lyman-α in emission or in absorption, and in imaging properties with compact, multi-component, or pair morphologies. We present the catalogue database and data products. All VUDS-DR1 data are publicly available and can be retrieved from a dedicated query-based database. Future VUDS data releases will follow this VUDS-DR1 to give access to the spectra and associated measurement of ~8000 objects in the full ~1 square degree of the VUDS survey.

Users and uses of a global union catalog: A mixed‐methods study of WorldCat.org

This paper presents the first large‐scale investigation of the users and uses of WorldCat.org, the world's largest bibliographic database and global union catalog. Using a mixed‐methods approach involving focus group interviews with 120 participants, an online survey with 2,918 responses, and an analysis of transaction logs of approximately 15 million sessions from WorldCat.org, the study provides a new understanding of the context for global union catalog use. We find that WorldCat.org is accessed by a diverse population, with the three primary user groups being librarians, students, and academics. Use of the system is found to fall within three broad types of work‐task (professional, academic, and leisure), and we also present an emergent taxonomy of search tasks that encompass known‐item, unknown‐item, and institutional information searches. Our results support the notion that union catalogs are primarily used for known‐item searches, although the volume of traffic to WorldCat.org means that unknown‐item searches nonetheless represent an estimated 250,000 sessions per month. Search engine referrals account for almost half of all traffic, but although WorldCat.org effectively connects users referred from institutional library catalogs to other libraries holding a sought item, users arriving from a search engine are less likely to connect to a library.

The Work of Library with Free Electronic Resources: Selection and Organization of Access

Involving free online resources in the library services improves the information support for users. The terms “free resources”, “open” are used for designation of free resources, which do not require financial compensation. In practice, however, Russian libraries have not yet developed a unified approach for understanding the terms “free resources”, “free access”, “open access”. ISO 5127 and ISO 2789 International Standards recommend including in the library’s collections these free Internet resources, which could be catalogued by the library in its online catalogue or some other library database. It’s necessary to define the groups of networked resources which the library can include in its collections, and those resources that are of interest to users, but couldn’t be included in the library stock. Organization of access to free resources shall be carried out in two ways: entering information about the resources in the library catalogue or other database and providing common search or the development of navigation tools based on the links grouped by any attribute on the library website. Processing of all kinds of free resources for users is part of the technological scheme of the network resources collection development and has various specific characteristics that affect the selection, registration, administration and management of the electronic resources.

New insights in the seismic history of Monti della Laga area

&lt;div class="page" title="Page 1"&gt;&lt;div class="layoutArea"&gt;&lt;div class="column"&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;The earthquake of August 24, 2016 hit an Apenninic "border” area, now at the crossroads of four regions, but for many past centuries on the edge of two independent Italian states. The geographic, cultural and historical marginality of this area did certainly affect the level of knowledge available on its historical seismicity. However, the recent publication of the new Italian Macroseismic Database and Parametric Catalogue produces a significant improvement of knowledge, based on the analysis of new sources on two major seismic clusters that characterize the seismic history of the area. Further improvements are possible, but these new data define what are the key issues that research is now facing. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

Morphology of open clusters NGC 1857 and Czernik 20 using clustering algorithms

The morphology and cluster membership of the Galactic open clusters - Czernik 20 and NGC 1857 were analyzed using two different clustering algorithms. We present the maiden use of density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) to determine open cluster morphology from spatial distribution. The region of analysis has also been spatially classified using a statistical membership determination algorithm. We utilized near infrared (NIR) data for a suitably large region around the clusters from the United Kingdom Infrared Deep Sky Survey Galactic Plane Survey star catalogue database, and also from the Two Micron All Sky Survey star catalogue database. The densest regions of the cluster morphologies (1 for Czernik 20 and 2 for NGC 1857) thus identified were analyzed with a K-band extinction map and color-magnitude diagrams (CMDs). To address significant discrepancy in known distance and reddening parameters, we carried out field decontamination of these CMDs and subsequent isochrone fitting of the cleaned CMDs to obtain reliable distance and reddening parameters for the clusters (Czernik 20: D = 2900 pc; E(J-K) = 0.33; NGC 1857: D = 2400 pc; E(J-K) = 0.18-0.19). The isochrones were also used to convert the luminosity functions for the densest regions of Czernik 20 and NGC 1857 into mass function, to derive their slopes. Additionally, a previously unknown over-density consistent with that of a star cluster is identified in the region of analysis.

The author of the article raises a question about library users; she is concerned that they are not well aware of modern library information technologies and how to use electronic reference and bibliographic resources, in particular databases of articles and materials taken from periodicals. In order to improve user information competence the author of the article presents functional and information retrieval features of the subject “Periodicals” bibliographic database of the electronic catalogue of V. Sukhomlynskyi State Scientific and Pedagogical Library of Ukraine, a coordinating and scientific methodical centre of the system of education libraries of Ukraine. The forms of propagating the resource to users in particular using Internet information services are described.

The effect of the 2-week wait referral system on the detection of and mortality from colorectal cancer: protocol of a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BackgroundColorectal cancer represents the fourth most common cancer in England and Wales; survival is high for early stage disease but declines sharply with advanced stage. UK figures suggest that cancer survival rates are lower than those of other Western European countries. Current 5-year survival is around 50 %. A rapid access strategy was introduced through the Department of Health in 2000. This 2-week wait (TWW) referral pathway was devised to streamline referral for suspected cancer, allow diagnosis at an earlier stage, reduce cancer survival inequality and reduce cancer-related mortality. However, only around half of patients with colorectal cancer have symptoms that fit the TWW criteria plus there is a fourfold difference in referral rates across England and Wales.High-quality evidence of TWW outcome measures for colorectal cancer is lacking. This systematic review will collate and evaluate the latest evidence on colorectal cancer detection rate, stage at diagnosis and mortality.MethodsEnglish-language publications from 2000 reporting outcomes on the TWW referral system for suspected colorectal cancer will be eligible for inclusion. Cochrane, EMBASE, MEDLINE via PubMed, NHS Evidence, Trip and the British Library Catalogue databases will be searched. Two paired reviewers will independently screen all titles/abstracts and full text for eligibility, then extract data and assess for bias using standardised formats. They will hand review reference lists of eligible articles. Disagreement will be resolved via third party adjudication. Summary effect measures for post-referral diagnosis and mortality rates will be calculated and expressed as relative risk, hazard rate ratio or risk difference with corresponding 95 % confidence intervals. Where possible summary effect measures will be pooled, heterogeneity and its extent for pooled estimates will be assessed via visual inspection of forest plots and explored via sub-group analysis.DiscussionIn this systematic review, we aim to summarise the relevant evidence on cancer detection rate, cancer stage at diagnosis and disease-related mortality rates for patients with suspected colorectal cancer investigated through the TWW referral system in England and Wales. Association between SEC16B polymorphisms and body mass index variation or risk of obesity: a Meta-analysis

Objective: To systematically evaluate the associations between SEC16B polymorphisms and body mass index (BMI) or risk of obesity in different ethnic populations. Methods: A literature retrieval was carried out by using Wanfangdata, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP databases), PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, NIH GWAS catalog databases to collect the research papers published between 2009 and 2015 on the associations between SEC16B polymorphisms and BMI or risk of obesity. Summary beta estimates (βs), odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to assess the strength for the BMI analyses and obesity status. Meta-analysis was performed with Stata 12.0 software. Results: Totally 15 papers for rs10913469 and 13 papers for rs543874 were included in this Meta-analysis. Under additive genetic model, rs10913469 and rs543874 in SEC16B gene were positively associated with BMI, and the combined β was 0.04 (95%CI: 0.03-0.05) and 0.03 (95%CI: 0.02-0.04), respectively, and rs10913469 and rs543874 were also associated with the risk of obesity, and the combined OR was 1.11 (95%CI: 1.08-1.15) and 1.28 (95%CI: 1.20-1.36), respectively. There were no significant differences among subgroups of ethnicity, different age groups and literatures with different quality. Conclusion: rs10913469 and rs543874 in SEC16B gene are significantly associated with BMI and the risk of obesity, and C allele of rs10913469 and G allele of rs543874 increase the risk for obesity in different ethnic populations.

LBPS 01-09 CONTRIBUTION OF SEC16B POLYMORPHISMS TO BODY MASS INDEX VARIATION AND RISK OF OBESITY

Objective: To systematically evaluate the associations between SEC16B polymorphisms and body mass index (BMI) or risk of obesity in different ethnic populations. Design and Method: A computerized search on literature was carried out in Wanfangdata, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP databases), PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, NIH GWAS catalog databases to collect articles published between 2009 and June 2015 concerning the associations between SEC16B polymorphisms and BMI or risk of obesity. Summary odds ratios (ORs) or beta estimates (βs) were calculated to assess the strength of the associations for the obesity status and BMI analyses, respectively, and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) to present the precision of the estimates. Meta-analysis was performed with Stata 12.0 software. Results: Totally 15 papers for rs10913469 and 13 papers for rs543874 were included in this meta-analysis. Rs10913469 and rs543874 in SEC16B gene were associated with BMI, and the combined β was 0.04 (95% CI: 0.03–0.05) and 0.03 (95% CI: 0.02–0.04) under additive genetic model, respectively. The two polymorphisms were also associated with the risk of obesity, and the combined OR was 1.11 (95% CI: 1.08–1.15) for rs10913469 and 1.28 (95%CI: 1.20–1.36) for rs543874, respectively. There were no statistically significant differences for subgroups of ethnicity, age and quality of literature. Conclusions: Rs10913469 and rs543874 in SEC16B gene are significantly associated with BMI and the risk of obesity, and C allele of rs10913469 and G allele of rs543874 are risk for obesity in different ethnic populations.

A study of a target identification method for an active debris removal system

In a preparatory study conducted prior to the development of an active space debris removal system, a method for selecting target debris based on information such as the cumulative collision probability, the operational condition of objects, and their sizes and launch dates was developed for use in the protection of four Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite constellation satellites. This method can be used to select candidate removal targets. Two-line element data are used to identify threatening objects with high cumulative collision probability. Using information in the Satellite Catalog database, objects smaller than a certain size or objects that are currently operational were excluded from the selection range. The results of an analysis of the cumulative collision probability, object size, object type, and primary mission information showed that the COSMOS 1328, COSMOS 1862, COSMOS 375, and COSMOS 1606 satellites were suitable targets for an active debris removal mission.
