Malnutrition or Malnutrition is a general term that refers to a medical condition caused by an improper or inadequate diet. The main cause of malnutrition is the lack of children in getting enough energy and protein foods. This is with the economic level of the community. In addition, for parents' knowledge about the importance of nutrition for child development. In East Lombok, cases of malnutrition always appear every year, but recently in 2019, cases of malnutrition were rediscovered which ironically was always known too late. This is because the location of malnutrition sufferers is not reachable or is not known by the district government, this is what makes the handling of malnutrition cases in East Lombok district late, which often results in deaths of infants and children. For this reason, in this study the researcher raised the theme of how to map the distribution of the location of well-known cases of malnutrition in East Lombok district. The purpose of this study was to help the East Lombok fogapen government to see the location of people with malnutrition. The research method used is to directly record the coordinates of the location of people with bad nutrition. with this application, it can help the government in alerting the location of cases of malnutrition in East Lombok district

The aftermath of prolonged academic institutions’ closure: time to reopen safely

To minimize the outspread of COVID-19, the government announced the closure of all educational institutions on March 18, 2020, and it has continued since then. This extended break from educational institutes has affected the lives of students profoundly. Though face-to-face classes have been replaced by online classes, the effectiveness of the online learning system is impeded by poor technological infrastructure and stable internet access. Besides, important exams like board exams, university admission exams, and university semester exams have been suspended during this period resulting in session jam. Numerous students are also going through learning loss. Apart from academic loss, there have been reported augmented cases of child marriage, child labor, child abuse, malnutrition, and online abuse due to the extended shutdown. This protracted closure has also impacted students’ mental health, physical activity, and behavioral changes. Hence, there have been increased incidences of depression, mental disorders, and suicides. Considering all these aspects, now both parents and students intend to recommence the in-person classes supporting the reopening of all institutes.

Characteristics, Demographics and Malnutisi of Toddlers in West Papua Province

<p><strong>Background</strong>: Malnutrition is a problem that occurs in several Indonesian provinces. West Papua Province is one of the provinces where malnutrition occurs. The high incidence of malnutrition will play an important role in human resources so that it will have a major impact on the low generation of the nation in West Papua Province. This study aims to determine the risk factors for malnutrition in West Papua Province. <strong>Methods</strong>: This study uses a secondary analysis of 2018 Basic Health Research data in West Papua Province. The number of samples in this study were 159 babies aged 0-23 months. Measurements using anthropometry with weight /age. Data analysis used cross tabulation descriptive analysis. <strong>Results</strong>: The results of this study showed that there were 107 infants under two years of age who suffered from malnutrition (16.7%) and infants under two years of age who had normal nutrition as many as 534 babies (83.3%). There was no significant difference between sex and age of malnourished infants. There was a relationship between the education of the head of the household (p <0.001), the occupation of the head of the household and the incidence of malnutrition among infants in West Papua Province.</p><p><strong>Conclusion</strong>: Malnutrition cases occur in infants under two years of age with sociodemographic conditions with low education of the head of the household, the head of the household does not work, and lives in rural areas. Health workers in West Papua Province must be more intense in educating heads of households with low education and low income about dietary consumption and parenting patterns in order to reduce the incidence of malnutrition in infants under two years of age.</p>

Sistem Informasi Geografis Pemantauan Status Gizi Balita di Kabupaten Lombok Barat untuk Pemeringkatan Daerah Rawan Gizi dengan Menggunakan Metode Analytical Hierarchy Process

This research was triggered by the increasing number of malnutrition cases in West Lombok Regency that caused the mortality rate of children under five years old is also increasing. This research is aimed to provide the malnutrition status information and other related nutritional information, also to let the citizen send their feedbacks to the Public Health Office and Community Health Clinic. This system was built with waterfall model as its System Development Method and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to determine the nutritional areas. This system was tested with blackbox, whitebox and MOS. Whitebox was used to test the Analytical Hierarchy Process and the result was corresponding to the manually done calculation. Meanwhile the testing using blackbox showed that the system has been running well. The testing using MOS showed that the average assessment of public respondents to the system stated strongly agree, agree and fair were 39.04%, 55.24%, and 5.72% respectively

Implementation of Feeder System to Support Monitoring the Potential Malnutrition

The case of malnutrition affecting many toddlers of Banjarmasin in isolated areas, remote areas, and remote villages. It is caused by the resultant of economic problems, facilities, infrastructures, and the lack of medical personnel. One of the ways undertaken by the government to overcome this problem is to carry out Posyandu activities. The posyandu program is organized to improve and monitor the nutrition of children under five. However, the reporting of posyandu data by each puskesmas is sometimes delayed because of the large amount of bureaucracy that must be passed to get to the center. Therefore a system feeder application is needed to monitor and mapping on the number of toddlers with potential malnutrition in the city of Banjarmasin.

MEMODELKAN ANGKA GIZI BURUK DI PROVINSI BALI DENGAN PENDEKATAN REGRESI SPASIAL

Nutritional problems in toddler are still a serious problem in various districts/cities in Indonesia. The case of malnutrition in Bali Province vary in many regions and hypothesized to be influenced by geographic location, which is often known as spatial heterogeneity. To overcome this problem, a spatial regression method is used on this research. This study aims to model the factors that are hypothesized affect malnourished toddlers in Bali Province using spatial regression methods, i.e. spatial autoregressive model (SAR) and spatial error model (SEM). Both models have 5 predictors variable, i.e. the percentage of toddlers aged between 6 - 59 months who received vitamin A, the percentage of babies with low birth weight (LBW), the percentage of households with clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), the percentage of children under five receiving exclusive breastfeeding, and the percentage of toddler health services, which are obtained from Bali Provincial Health Office. The results showed SEM method produced smaller AIC value and higher , with and AIC values ??of 96.24% and 60.84, respectively.

Cases of malnutrition among children under five in Pekanbaru City still occur, because of the lack of knowledge of parents in caring for and monitoring the growth and development of children and ignorance of parents in providing nutrition to their toddlers. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implementation of the Kampung KB program in improving family welfare. The research method used in this research is quantitative descriptive, where data sources were obtained from interviews, questionnaires and documentation. Input of this activity is that the enthusiasm of Family Members towards BKB counseling activities is high and gets good responses, and there are a variety of activities carried out in an integrated manner, but sometimes not all family members and cadres can be present during the implementation of the activity, because it has its own busyness. Process of this activity, that BKB implementation has been routinely carried out. Recording and reporting of activities has also been carried out well, but in meetings / counseling conducted more focused on improving the quality and knowledge of cadres only. Output of this activity, is that the understanding of the people who take part in BKB counseling activities is more understanding about child development. However, the increase in the number of family members participating in the BKB outreach was not optimal.

FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI STATUS GIZI BURUK PADA BALITA DI KELURAHAN SEI.LAKAM BARAT KECAMATAN KARIMUN KABUPATEN KARIMUN

Malnutrition is a severe level of malnutrition due to low consumption of energy and protein from daily food that occurs for quite a long time. Poor nutrition can affect children's growth and development, as well as children's intelligence. At a more severe level, when combined with poor care, poor sanitation, and the emergence of other diseases, malnutrition can lead to death. Data from Karimun district health office, there are 0.9% cases of malnutrition, 0.4% in Karimun sub-district and 1% in West Sei.Lakam sub-district in 2017. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that influence malnutrition status in toddlers. This study used an analytical survey with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted in February-July in Sei.Lakam Barat Subdistrict, Karimun Subdistrict, with a population of all mothers who have children aged 0-59 months totaling 869 people. The sampling technique is quota sampling with a total sample of 90 people. The measuring instrument used was a questionnaire which was analyzed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square statistical test at α 0.05. The results showed that there was a relationship between maternal knowledge and nutritional status of children under five (p = 0.047). There is no relationship between maternal education and nutritional status of children under five (p = 0.581). There is a relationship between the economy and the nutritional status of toodlers (p = 0.037). It is recommended that there be continuous health education activities on toddler nutrition for mothers of toddlers so that mothers can provide nutritious food for toddlers

Optimizing the Role of Cadres in Increasing Knowledge in the Early Detection of Malnutrition Cases in Toddlers

Malnutrition is a condition in which the body does not get enough nutrition to maintain health. There were 59 cases of malnutrition in Padang City in 2019. By finding cases early, the handling of children under five will be done more quickly. The health cadres have an important role in relation to early detection of malnutrition. To determine how much the cadres knowledge increased after being given cadre training. This type of research is analytic research design with Quasy experiment pre-test and post-test. The sample in this study was 20 cadres who were taken by using of the sampling technique cluster random sampling. the data obtained that there is no significant difference in cadres knowledge about PHBS with p value 0.317, and there is a significant difference in cadres knowledge about malnutrition with p value 0.001 and post nutrition with p value 0.008.

Holistic-Comprehensive Approaches to Improve Nutritional Status of Children under Five Years

Background: Malnutrition has been identified as the leading cause of illness and death in almost half of children under 5 years. Hence, to prevent the impact of malnutrition on physical and psychological development, family physicians need to explore new approaches in the health care delivery models that go beyond the scope of practice. A holistic-comprehensive approach will help the physicians develop a more thorough assessment of nutritional status. This study aims to determine factors associated with the nutritional status of children under five years using holistic-comprehensive approaches.Design and Methods: A case–control design was implemented, with emphasis on the identification of cases and control groups; 48 children confirmed malnutrition cases and 48 control without malnutrition were recruited from a Community Integrated Health Center in East Java, Indonesia. The characteristics of agent, host and environment between groups were compared and analyzed using correlation coefficients, odds ratio, logistic regression analysis, and Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS).Results: The SEM-PLS results showed that environmental factors have a greater influence on nutritional status (t-value >1.96), compared to the host factors. Furthermore, environmental factors having significant associations with nutritional status were poor socioeconomic status, low maternal educational level and not having exclusive breastfeeding. Also, the results of correlation coefficients and OR showed that birth weight (p=0.000, OR=33) and socioeconomic status (p=0.000, OR=22.3) had strong correlations with nutritional status.Conclusions: Holistic-comprehensive approaches can be used as new ways to determine factors that may be associated with nutritional status of children under 5 years of age.Significance for public healthMalnutrition among children under five years old causes a global developmental delay in many areas, namely physical, cognitive, and social, which is linked to increased risk of infectious diseases. The epidemiologic triangle is a model for explaining the causal factors of malnutrition, which include the health status of children under five years and other family health factors. This paper showed factors associated with malnutrition cases of children under five years of age using holistic-comprehensive approaches based on epidemiological triangle model.

Sistem Pendukung Keputusan Menggunakan Metode Fuzzy Simple Additive Weighting (F-SAW) Untuk Menentukan Status Gizi Buruk Balita Pada Puskesmas Tetaf Kecamatan Kuatnana Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan

Di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), status gizi buruk pada balita setiap tahun terus mengalami kenaikan. Kabupaten Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) berada pada posisi ke tiga teratas pada tahun 2016 yaitu 442 kasus. Proses penentuan status gizi buruk yang dilakukan pihak puskesmas Tetaf, kecamatan Kuatnana kabupaten TTS saat ini masih bersifat manual. Hal ini berdampak pada pelayanan yang kurang tepat. Untuk itu dibutuhkan sebuah sistem yang bisa memberikan keputusan sebagai rekomendasi pengambilan kebijakan untuk memberikan pelayanan yang tepat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sistem pendukung keputusan (SPK) penentuan status gizi buruk balita, dengan menggunakan metode fuzzy-simple additive weighting (F-SAW) dengan 4 kriteria yaitu, usia (umur), perbandingan berat badan/umur (BB/U), perbandingan tinggi badan/umur (TB/U) dan jenis kelamin (JK). Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan pengujian akurasi. Pengujian akurasi mendapatkan tingkat akurasi sebesar 100% dari 50 data, dengan jumlah status balita gizi kurang sebanyak 8 orang, jumlah status balita kekurangan gizi ada 7 orang, serta balita yang mengalami gizi baik ada 35 orang.

Nutritional Status of Under-5 Children in a Slam of Dhaka City and Influence of Immunization and Socio-economic Condition on Malnutrition

Background: In slum area there is a very high prevalence of malnutrition. Many factors can cause malnutrition, most of which relate to immunization, socio economic condition and repeated infections, particularly in underprivileged population.
 Objectives: To observe the nutritional status and effect of immunization and socio economic condition on malnutrition among under-5 children in a selected slum of Dhaka city.
 Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted among 384 under-5 children randomly selected from PWD slum in Dhaka city. It was carried out during January- 2013 to December-2014. Anthropometric measurements like wasting was determined from weight for height Z-score, stunting was determined from height for age Z-score, underweight was determined from weight for age Z-score and malnutrition also assessed by Mid Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC). Data were analyzed using SPSS version 21.
 Results: In this study in slum 40.36% were found malnourished according to MUAC, according to weight for height Z-score wasting was present in 29.43% children, according to height for age Z-score stunting was found in 28.39% and according to weight for age Z-score underweight was found in 46.89% children. There is a decreased number of malnutrition cases when family income rise. Out of the 384 study children 68% were completely immunized, 16.9% were incompletely immunized and rest 15.1% were not immunized. Number of MUAC malnutrition, wasting, stunting and underweight cases increases in cases of incomplete immunization and no immunization.
 Conclusions: Overall, nutritional status of the under-5 child of slum of PWD is not satisfactory. Family income and immunization status plays role in malnutrition. So socioeconomic condition should improve and mass immunization programshould be implemented in urban slum areas.

Children and Stunting Phenomenon in Indonesia: Legal Perspective

Indonesia is a country with abundant natural resources, yet the case of malnutrition has gone on since a longtime ago. The non-serious handling of malnutrition causes various health conditions such as stunting. Thiswill influence economic capacities and productivity; thus, it becomes a serious threat. This research uses aquantitative method, by using primary and secondary legal sources.Stunting may have implications on children’s health both in the short and in the long run. It may influence thecountry’s economy. The roles of the government, parents, family, and the society is not enough in protectingchildren from stunting. The government has not maximally implied various programs in preventing andhandling stunting, thus the rate of stunting is not yet according to the standard given by WHO. This describessome aspects and the citizens’ rights which are not yet fulfilled, including the rights to live, the right forhealth, the right for children to grow, and other rights.

COVID-19 and nutritional deficiency: a review of existing knowledge.

COVID-19 has resulted in an ongoing global pandemic, which spread largely among people who have had close contact with the infected person. The immunopathology of the SARS-CoV-2 virus includes the production of an excess amount of pro-inflammatory cytokines "a cytokine-storm". The respiratory system (main), cardiovascular system and the gastrointestinal tract are the most affected body systems during viral infection. It has been found that most of the patients who require admission to hospital are elderly or have chronic underlying diseases. Higher cases of malnutrition and co-morbidities like diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases are reported in elderly patients due to which, the immune system weakens and hence, the response to the virus is diminished in magnitude. A deficiency of micronutrients results in impaired immune responses leading to improper secretion of cytokines, alterations in secretory antibody response and antibody affinity which increases susceptibility to viral infection. The deficiency of various micronutrients in COVID-19 patient can be treated by appropriate nutritional supplements, prescribed after evaluating the patients' nutritional status. Here we aim to highlight the role of a few particular nutrients namely Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Omega-3 fatty acids, Zinc and Magnesium along with the synergistic roles they play in enhancing immunity and thus, maintaining homeostasis.

CREATING EFFECTIVENESS OF NUTRITION POLICY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM IN SUBANG REGENCY

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the nutrition improvement program policy in Subang Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method through observation and interviews, literature study, and documentation. Data triangulation and obtained from key informants directly and relevant to the problem under study are sources of data. The results showed that the policy program for improving Subang Regency nutrition has been running but has not been effective, including several factors such as limited human resources who manage the program. The availability of additional food for infants and toddlers is still insufficient. For this reason, it needs to be considered so that the program can be carried out properly following the stated objectives. The government needs to pay more attention to the adequacy of nutrition workers. To provide maximum service to the community. The implementation of nutrition improvement programs must be more activated, maintained continuously, and improved communication and socialization, built both cross-program and cross-sectoral to reduce malnutrition cases. PENERAPAN DATA MINING DENGAN ALGORITMA NEURAL NETWORK PADA SISTEM INFORMASI PREDIKSI KASUS BALITA GIZI BURUK DI PROVINSI NUSA TENGGARA BARAT

One of the main objectives of national development is to improve the quality of human resources sustainably. This effort begins with a majors focus on the child's development from conception to adulthood. During this period of growth, the fulfillment of children's basic needs such as care and nutritious food to make them healthy, intelligent, and productive human resources. The case of malnutrition among toddlers and children is one of the priority issues handled by the government. Although from year to year there is a decrease in the number of children with malnutrition, the incidence rate in Indonesia is still high compared to other developing countries. Malnutrition is a condition caused by low consumption of energy and protein in daily food intake so that it does not meet the Nutritional Adequacy Rate (RDA). West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is a province with high cases of malnutrition, namely 29.5% above the tolerance limit set by WHO, which is 20% of the total number of children under five. Data from the NTB Health Office states that in 2018 there were 217 cases of malnutrition spread across ten districts/cities. In this study, the authors researched the distribution and factors causing malnutrition in the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) region. Enhancing capacity of Zimbabwe's health system to respond to climate change induced drought: a rapid nutritional assessment.

IntroductionZimbabwe experienced the negative effects of the devastating cyclone Idai which affected several districts in the country, and the drought due to low rainfall that has affected the whole country. As a result of these catastrophes, the food and nutrition security situation in the country has deteriorated. For this reason, we carried out a rapid assessment of the health facilities in 19 sampled high global acute malnutrition and high food insecurity districts from the ten provinces of Zimbabwe to ascertain the preparedness of the facilities to respond to drought effects.Methodswe conducted a rapid nutritional assessment in 19 purposely selected districts with highest rates of global acute malnutrition from the 10 provinces of Zimbabwe. From these districts, we selected a district hospital and a rural health facility with high number of acute malnutrition cases. We adapted and administered the WHO recommended checklist (Multi-Cluster/Sector Initial Rapid Assessment (MIRA) as the assessment tool. We used STATA to generate frequencies, and proportions.Resultsabout 94% (16/19) of the districts had less than 50% health workers trained to manage acute malnutrition. A total of 26% (5/19) of the district hospitals and 32% (6/19) of the primary health care facilities were not admitting according to integrated management of acute malnutrition (IMAM) protocol. Twelve districts (63%) had none of their staff trained in infant and young child feeding (IYCF), 58% (11/19) had no staff trained in growth monitoring and 63% (12/19) of the districts had no trained staff in baby friendly hospital initiative (BFHI). A total of 60% of the provinces did not have combined mineral vitamin mix stocks, 80% had no resomal stocks, 20% did not have micronutrient powder stocks and 30% had no ready to use supplementary food stocks in all their assessed facilities. Fifty percent (50%) of the health facilities were not adequately stocked with growth monitoring cards. Manicaland had the least (20%) number of health facility with a registration system to notify cases of malnutrition.Conclusionwe concluded that the Zimbabwe health delivery system is not adequately prepared to respond to the effects of the current drought as most health workers had inadequate capacity to manage acute malnutrition, the nutrition surveillance was weak and inadequate stocks of commodities and anthropometric equipment was noted. Following this, health workers from six of ten provinces were trained on management of acute malnutrition, procurement of some life -saving therapeutic and supplementary foods was done. We further recommend food fortification as a long-term plan, active screening for early identification of malnutrition cases and continuous training of health workers.

Spatial Bayes Analysis on Cases of Malnutrition in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

Abstract Malnutrition is a condition of serious nutritional disorders that occurs when food intake does not match the amount of nutrients needed. This nutritional disorder is fatal to a toddler’s health if not treated immediately. For this reason, the purposes of this study are to model and map malnutrition cases by taking into account regional aspects using the Bayes spatial analysis whose inference uses INLA (integrated nested Laplace approximation). The spatial Bayes model used is a generalized linear mixed model, by including random effects in the form of conditional autoregressive spatial structured components. The response variable is the number of cases of malnutrition in 22 city districts in Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province, which is assumed to have a Poisson distribution. In spatial modeling, the fixed effects as the explanatory variables are included, i.e. the number of children under five given complete immunization, the poverty depth index, the number of maternal and child health services, population density and the average duration of breastfeeding. The results of spatial modeling show that the poverty depth index is the main variable that has a significant effect on the number of malnutrition cases. From the results of spatial mapping, it can be seen that there are regional links that affect the number of malnutrition cases, including in Sumba Barat Daya, Sumba Barat and Sumba Utara which have a high probability of malnutrition risk rather than in Sumba Timur.
