STUDENTS’ RECEPTION TOWARDS SEXUAL HARASSMENT CASE OF GEN-Z AT A PRIVATE UNIVERSITY IN DEPOK

Sexual harassment could happen everywhere, including workplace and university. This involves any person who has the opportunity to do the misconduct. Information about sexual harassment is now available on many media platforms, whether it is printed or online. As a group of young people who are highly aware of social problems, Gen Z circle have spoken up about this particular issue, starting from their own social network to national level. This study aims to explain the students’ reception towards sexual harassment case on media which took place in a private university in Depok, West Java. The author will lead the discussion into three categories, the causative factors, the forms, and students’ resistance of sexual harassment. The data collected from 122 students involved in focused group discussion and 4 students were interviewed. An article from Indonesian online media regarding sexual harassment was presented and the research allows the student to react to the news. The results show that student participants believe sexual drive is the main factor and any form of sexual harassment could happen if there is not consent. They disagreed if the perpetrator was treated badly like in the news, even though protection for the victim should be prioritized.

Teachers’ Role In Introducing Sexual Education Through Art To Early Childhood At RAB Perwanida Bendunganjati Pacet Mojokerto (Efforts To Prevent Sexual Harassment In Early Childhood)

Sexual harassment is a serious matter that will damage a child's future both in the short and long term. The consequences do not only affect the victims, but also their parents, families and economics. Indonesia’s current condition about this is very concerning where every year there is a lot of data that collects cases of sexual harassment and is not taken seriously. This has become a concern for parents and the public. Sexual harassment occurs due to the lack of knowledge of parents regarding sexual education for children and they only rely on sexual education in schools. However, sexual education in schools is rarely considered and implemented. Based on the background, this study discusses teachers’ role in introducing sexual education to early childhood at RA B Perwanida Bendunganjati Pacet Mojokerto (Efforts to Prevent Sexual Harassment in Early Childhood). The purposes of this study were to analyze (1) parents’ role in sexual education for early childhood. (2) Teachers’ role in introducing sexual education to students. (3) The media used by the teacher to facilitate the sexual education material. By employing qualitative research, this study was conducted in RA Purwanida group B with 18 students as subjects, one student guardian, and two teachers. The data in this study were carried out through 3 stages: Reduction, Data Presentation, and Documentation. The results of this study indicate that (1) Parents have provided sexual education to early childhood when they are at home. (2) The teacher has played a role in introducing sexual education through the media of images and singing methods. (3) Learning the sexual education in early childhood is more effective if it is explained concretely.

The effectiveness of the Bisindo-based rational emotive behavior therapy model in reducing social anxiety in deaf women victims of sexual harassment

PurposeSocial anxiety disorder is a common phenomenon that occurs in everyone with varying degrees, ranging from mild to severe. One of the causes of social anxiety disorder is a traumatic experience due to sexual harassment that has been experienced. In deaf women, this experience is made more difficult because of the language and speech limitations shared. As a result, irrational thoughts and beliefs arise for the victim. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Bisindo-based rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) model in reducing social anxiety in deaf women who are victims of sexual harassment.Design/methodology/approachThe research method uses single-subject research with multiple baselines across subjects. The research subjects were deaf women victims of sexual harassment who the National Government Organization Woman Crises Center in West Sumatra and the Association of Indonesian Special Education Professionals identified. Data were collected by observation and social anxiety scale and analyzed by graphical visual analysis.FindingsThe results showed that the Bisindo-based REBT was effective in reducing social anxiety in deaf women who were victims of sexual harassment.Research limitations/implicationsThe implementation of therapy in this study involved therapists, teachers and sign language interpreters. It requires extraordinary time and effort for the subjects to be able to reveal the sexual harassment they experienced. Furthermore, the small number of subjects meant that the results of this study could not be generalized widely. Therefore, this study has implications for future researchers to conduct experiments using the Bisindo-based REBT model on more subjects.Practical implicationsPractically, the results of this study have implications for a model for handling cases of sexual harassment in deaf women that can be used by women’s organizations and the Indonesian Association of Women with Disabilities.Originality/valueIt is recommended for counselors, psychologists and therapists to use the Bisindo-based REBT in dealing with cases of sexual harassment in deaf women because therapy that follows the characteristics of the victim’s language can help them to get the expected results.

Analisis Kasus Pelecehan Seksual Di Universitas Islam Indonesia Menggunakan Pendekatan Hak Asasi Manusia

Human rights that must be upheld and respected by each citizen for the sake of honor and protection of human dignity. However, human rights violations still occur frequently, as reflected in the persistence of sexual violence experienced by women. Likewise, Ibrahim Malik (IM) took advantage of his popularity and good image as an Outstanding Student (mapres) to attract victims. The purpose of this research is to find out how the sexual harassment case committed by IM began, the actions taken by the victim, and then the response from the Indonesian Islamic University (UII) where IM studied about the case. The method used in this paper uses secondary data as a bibliography, with data analysis used in a qualitative descriptive manner. The results of the temporary research show that IM received sanctions for his actions by revoking the title of outstanding student from the Islamic University of Indonesia because he had violated the ethics and morals of being an outstanding student. It started with a complaint from one of the victims to the Yogyakarta Legal Entity Institute on April 17, 2020, followed by complaints from other victims who told similar incidents, where the incident occurred in 2016. Until May 4, 2020, there were 30 complainants out of 30 people who reported sexual harassment by the same perpetrator, IM. The owner of the Twitter account @lnddwrhy stated that the hope of the victims through the Yogyakarta Legal Aid Institute regarding this case, if summarized, was for UII to make regulations related to the prevention and handling of cases of sexual violence on campus so that similar cases would not occur again because the alma mater of the majority of victims came from the same campus as IM, there is also no longer a group of people who provide a stage for IM in the form of glorification, including at UII where IM is pursuing a bachelor's degree

We cannot deny the fact that everyday newspaper is overloaded with cases of harassment, rape, sexual assault and so on. Now-a-days smartphone is used by almost everyone. So, an android based application can be utilized effectively to provide safety and security to our daughter, wife, mother and, sister. It must guide the women about the current location and during emergency provide necessary help to her.

“Sexual misconduct at workplace and Indian corporate and securities law: exploring corporate disclosures of sexual harassment cases by Indian companies in #MeToo era”

PurposeThis paper aims to focus on compliance of workplace sexual harassment-related provisions under Indian companies and securities law, based on an empirical analysis of companies’ sexual harassment-related disclosures contained within their directors’ annual reports (ARs). Specifically, sections devoted to sexual harassment-related disclosures, inbuilt within directors’ ARs for the financial year 2019–2020 for a selected sample of companies listed under the National Stock Exchange, have been analysed.Design/methodology/approachTo examine the nature of companies’ disclosures to demonstrate their compliance with statutory requirements under the POSH law, aligned with the Companies (Accounts) Rules, 2014 and Securities and Exchange Board of India’s regulations, an empirical-based, descriptive content analysis of ARs of 200 listed companies were used.FindingsThis study primarily finds that the majority of companies from the sample have disclosed to have prepared a corporate-level policy, as required under the POSH law. As also required under the POSH law, companies, reportedly, have constituted an Internal Complaints Committee to adjudicate and dispose of incidents related to sexual misconduct reported at their workplaces. However, companies lack in disclosing qualitative information, with sufficient detail, on many important aspects related to prevention and resolution of reported cases of workplace sexual harassment.Originality/valueThis paper adds to the broader narrative of the lacunae within the disclosure and reporting requirements on enhancing the liabilities of the companies to prevent and address sexual harassment under India’s corporate and securities regulations.

Sexual Harassment in Cyberspace in the Perspective of Islamic Criminal Law and National Law

Sexual harassment in verbal and non-verbal forms has become increasingly prevalent globally. This study revealed cases of sexual harassment in cyberspace in accordance with National Law regulations in Indonesia on immortality, such as the Criminal Code and Law Number 4 of 2008 concerning Pornography and Law Number 13 Of 2006 on Legal Protection of Witnesses and Victims. Meanwhile, in the Islamic legal order, sexual harassment in cyberspace is seen in the discussion of the Jinayah Fiqh, classified as jarimah takzir and contains elements of abomination or insulting acts. The legal protection for victims of sexual harassment in Islamic law is in the form of imposing sanctions on perpetrators, which the government determines following the magnitude of their crime. The hope of strengthening immoral punishment has become necessary for Indonesia by considering the spirit and value embodied in Islamic criminal law.

THE ROLE OF LEGAL OFFICE IN HANDLING CASES OF SEXUAL HARASSMENT TOWARD IMPOVERISHED SOCIETY

Sexual harassment is something that is common in Indonesia and other countries because the cases occur almost every year. Legal protection for victims of sexual harassment is stated in the Law. But in fact, Indonesian law itself has not been able to fully provide firm legal consequences for perpetrators of harassment and protection for victims. In fact, there is still legal inequality between victims and perpetrators due to social inequality where the victim comes from an impoverished society so the perpetrator can pass the trial because they can afford to pay a lawyer to defend himself. Therefore the purpose of this study is to find out how is the role of law enforcement officials toward the victims of sexual harassment, especially women. This study used the descriptive qualitative method. The data was obtained from Indonesian language-based books. This study used the theory of Karl Marx which states that there is a conflict between social classes, where the interests are conflicting and irreconcilable because of different social and economic order positions. From the research, it can be concluded that legal injustice that occurs in Indonesia is due to law enforcement officials who are not wise or cannot take a good role in handling cases of sexual harassment against women. In addition, it is influenced by social class where it is difficult for lower-class people to get justice because upper-class people dominate the law which will lead to divisions in the communities.

Paradigma Pemahaman Mahasiswa Mengenai Pelecehan Seksual di Lingkungan Kampus

This paper aims to provide education and understanding of forms of sexual harassment, because it is felt that with education about sexual harassment female students know how to prevent and protect themselves in order to avoid cases of sexual harassment in the campus environment. This problem is focused on women who have always been subject to property for sexual treatment. In order to approach this problem, theoretical references from Collier 1992 were used. The data was collected through the results of a questionnaire taken from several students' answers throughout Indonesia and then analyzed quantitatively and collected direct opinions from several students using qualitative analysis. This study concludes that women have always been the object of sexual harassment, this has motivated students to raise awareness and try to prevent this from happening. Therefore prevention efforts can be prevented from the smallest thing, namely yourself.

Peran Sekolah Islam Terpadu Dalam Pembentukan Sikap, Moral Dan Akhlak Generasi Muda (Peran SD Swasta IT Petak Batuah)

Various cases of violence, harassment, abuse and other criminal cases are happening and are in the spotlight today. This happens because of the lack of attitude, moral and religious character education or character education. Seeing this situation, the existence of an Integrated Islamic School is one of the answers in guiding, educating and improving the character of children from an early age. This study aims to describe the role of IT Private SD Petak Batuah in the formation of attitudes, morals and morals of the younger generation. This study uses qualitative research methods that use data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and document studies. Data analysis uses descriptive qualitative analysis which includes the stages of reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the existence of the IT Petak Batuah Private Elementary School has played a role in shaping the attitudes, morals and morals of its students, where educational activities in schools are not only to educate children intellectually, but also to shape the personality and character of students as a whole, described in several ways. as follows: 1) The implementation of school education combines general education with Islamic education, seen in educational activities that are in the packaging of Islamic teachings and values. 2) There are religious activities designed to shape the character of students which include routine habituation activities every day as well as activities on certain days which include; dhuha prayer in congregation, additional hours, yasin tahlil, and watching together one day. 3) schools shape the personality of students through the example that educators do in their various activities, becoming real examples in various words and actions that are seen by students.

Framing Analysis of Online Sexual Harassment News Against Online Motorcycle Bikes by Online Media Detik.com and Viva.co.id

The issue of sexual harassment through online or online networking is a topic that is being seriously highlighted by various parties and comes to the fore in the term Online Gender-Based Violence (OGBV). This research focuses on the perspective of mass media reporting in bringing up a phenomenon of online sexual harassment to the public. Specifically, the study discusses the phenomenon of online sexual harassment cases that are actually experienced by men, namely Online Motorcycle Taxi (Ojol) drivers. This fact was analyzed textually using Robert Entman's model framing analysis method of two news manuscripts from two different online media, namely Viva.co.id and Detik.com. This research with a qualitative descriptive approach aims to find out the framing efforts and construction of reality made by the two online media around online sexual harassment cases against Ojol drivers through their respective news texts. The results of the study concluded that the two news stories on the online media had tried to insist on participation to the managers of the application service to provide protection to Ojol drivers which showed the partiality of the media to the victims. Based on the theory of media setting agendas, both news stories have included the agenda of the media and the agenda of the audience, but have not given a significant portion to the authorities as a policy agenda to come up with a solution to this problem of online sexual harassment

Did #METOO advance the feminist movement in China? A typical Chinese case study of sexual harassment. Impact of power relations and morality

The #METOO campaign sparked worldwide attention to the issue of sexual harassment in 2017. Shortly afterward, sexual harassment cases also followed in Chinese universities. This study uses framing theory and content analysis, analyzing typical case news reports after the rise of the #METOO movement. Firstly, the study showed that Chinese news media mostly reported with social frame and individual frame, and seldom used the gender discrimination frame. Secondly, Although Chinese media actively promoted the progress and solution of sexual harassment cases, they mainly solved the problem from the perspective of power relations and failed to continue to dig into the problem of sexism. However, the way of reporting from the perspective of power relations may further influence the teachers’ image in China and even bring negative stereotypes.

Investigating experiences of Afghan female university students towards online harassment

The principal aim of this study was investigating experiences of Afghan female university students towards online harassment, its effects and coping strategies. Also, it aimed to study the differences of participants’ experiences by age, class, and first language. The data were gathered from 150 undergraduate female students of Takhar University randomly via a Likert scale questionnaire containing 36 statements. SPSS version 25.0 was used for analyzing the data. Descriptive statistics were employed to determine the frequency and percentage. Inferential statistics one way-ANOVA test was also used to determine the difference in the experience of participants by age, class (year of study), and first language toward the issue. The outcome of the study revealed that 54–81 percent of the respondents that forms the majority have not experienced online harassment. Also the finding denoted that the effects of online harassment on the victims are considerably low because the majority of them have not experienced online harassment. Besides, the result indicated that forty five percent of the partakers agreed to use some coping strategies against online harassment such as: talking face to face with the harasser, talking online or via phone, reporting the case to the administrator of university, searching Internet for advice, asking their teachers to include online harassment preventive matters in their teachings’ programs, cleaning the received online messages, ignoring and keeping silence, deleting from their contacts individuals that they do not like to keep contact with them, and sharing the cases of harassment with their friends or family members. Moreover, the outcome represented that there is not any considerable distinction in the experience of participants by age, class, and first language concerning online harassment.

Artificial intelligence to manage workplace bullying

This research links the efficiency of artificial intelligence (AI) to the work climate. The aim is to compare whether workers would feel comfortable dealing with a case of harassment at work with an AI system, or whether they prefer to deal with people. This is a pioneering study, unanswered in the literature. A questionnaire has been applied and a sample of 329 workers was obtained, from which it has been possible to conclude, that in cases where there is a good working environment, they feel more comfortable talking to people than to robots, and vice versa when the working environment is bad. Moreover, it is concluded that when workers trust their human resources (HR) departments, they prefer to deal with people regarding a problem such as bullying and that when they trust AI systems, there is a greater preference to interact with robots than when they do not trust them.

WHISTLEBLOWING PELECEHAN SEKSUAL DI TEMPAT KERJA: DIFERENSIASI ANTARA PRIA DAN WANITA

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of job insecurity and organizational citizenship behavior on the intention to become whistleblowing. To obtain sufficient statistical results, this research uses 48 respondents who have knowledge of cases of sexual harassment that occurred in the organization where they work. To examine the relationship between constructs and the potential differences in perceptions that exist, the researchers used a path analysis technique assisted by the Smart PLS version 3. The results showed that the constructs of job insecurity and organizational citizenship behavior had a significant impact in shaping intentions to become whistleblowers in cases of sexual harassment in Indonesia. organization where they work. Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine Position Paper: The Clinician's Role in Addressing and Preventing Maltreatment in Sport-10-year Anniversary.

In 2011, the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine released their first position paper on Abuse, Harassment, and Bullying in Sport. Since this time, there have been significant advancements within the global sport landscape, including the emergence of regulatory bodies and initiatives aimed at prioritizing athletes' health and well-being. While the shift to a more proactive approach for safeguarding athletes is evident and promising, athletes continue to be affected by cases of maltreatment. To advance safe sport, it is critical that all supporters of safe and healthy performance are aware of their roles and responsibilities for preventing and addressing maltreatment, including the Canadian sport medicine community. In this updated position statement, recent advancements in research on issues of maltreatment are summarized and specific recommendations are provided on how the medical community can contribute to appropriately identifying, treating, and preventing harm in sport, as well as their role in advocating for the health and well-being of athletes in their care.

Engaging men in gender transformative work in institutions of higher learning: A case of the men's hub at Makerere University.

It was noted that globally, sexual harassment (SH), abuse, and exploitation in higher education institutions (HEIs) remain a problem. In Uganda, it regularly made headlines in the media. Yet, it was only after high-profile cases were reported in the media that a spotlight was put on the problem. Moreover, despite there being policies on sexual harassment, changes in reporting processes, and a roster for the swift investigation of sexual harassment cases, sexual harassment persisted in the respective units of Makerere University. The study reported here was based on a project code-named "Whole University Approach: Kicking Sexual Harassment out of Higher Education Institutions in Uganda" (hereafter referred to as the KISH Project). It was action research intended to move beyond feminizing SH interventions and draw in all the key stakeholders with respectively tailored interventions that were need-based. The project applied multiple interventions targeting different stakeholders (including students, academic and support staff, and administrators) to address gaps, prevention, and support for the survivors of SH in HEIs. One of the project components is a "men's hub," which is aimed at providing space for both male staff and male students to hold dialogs on positive masculinity and call them to act as agents of change in a bid to address sexual harassment within higher education institutions (HEIs). As a platform that brings men together to discuss the issues of sexual harassment, the sessions at the men's hub enhanced their confidence and ability to prevent and respond to sexual harassment as well as their knowledge about the issues of masculinity and how they relate to sexual harassment. It was found to be an empowering platform with opportunities for awareness creation and the potential for amplifying the role of men in influencing change by speaking up and acting on their masculinity to address sexual harassment.

Islamic Perspectives on Religiusity and Students' Attitudes Toward Sexual Harassment

There are many negative impacts of sexual harassment cases, both physically and psychologically. Ironically, cases of sexual harassment where students are the victims continue to increase daily in academic and religious-based educational institutions. This study aimed to determine the Islamic perspective on the role of religiosity on sexual harassment attitudes in students. This study uses a qualitative approach through literature study by collecting, reading, and analyzing various Islamic sources, both the Qur'an, Al-Hadith, books and relevant journals. The study results show that someone with religiosity will be careful in maintaining his attitude, such as staying away from acts of sexual harassment, not tolerating this attitude and being kind to his victims. It shows that religiosity is a factor that can influence a person's attitude towards acts of sexual harassment.
