this study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and student career decision making. The method used in this study uses quantitative research with the correlation method. The results of hypothesis testing using SPSS 25 with the normality test results show that the significant value is 0.63, the data is normally distributed and the linearity test has a significance value of 0.332 deviation from linearity. The results of the research show that there is a significant linear relationship between the two variables. The results of the product moment correlation analysis show that the results of the correlation test show that H1 is accepted. Because the significance value (2-tailed) of the instrument is 0.000 <0.05, it can be concluded that there is a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and career decision making in class XII students at SMAN 1 Tegalwaru.

Making career decisions for students is not an easy matter. Sometimes, students encounter obstacles and doubts before deciding on a career path. To overcome individual uncertainty in making career decisions, it is necessary to have self-efficacy. Student self-efficacy in making student career decisions needs to be grown and developed. The symbolic modeling technique as an alternative in increasing self-efficacy in making career decisions was tested for its effectiveness in this study. The quasi-experimental in this study divided the research subjects into two groups, namely control and experiment where each group consisted of 16 students. The control group was given conventional treatment by the BK teacher, while the experimental group received treatment in the form of symbolic modeling techniques. The self-efficacy scale in making career decisions for students of class X SMA N 1 Tempel, was tested by t-test to determine the effectiveness of symbolic modeling techniques. The result of the hypothesis test is that the t-count value is greater than the t-table which is -2.380 1.703. Based on the results of the t-test, it can be concluded that self-efficacy in career decision making can be improved through symbolic modeling techniques.Keywords: symbolic modeling, self-efficacy, career decision making

Student Career Decision Making: Self-Efficacy and Future Orientation

This study aims to empirically examine the effect of career decision-making on self-efficacy and future orientation. This research method uses a quantitative using cluster random sampling technique. The number of subjects used amounted to 177 SMK students. The data analysis technique used multiple linear regression. The results of hypothesis testing together obtained an R-value of 0.693 with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.01). It is concluded that the hypothesis is accepted, that is, there is a significant influence between self-efficacy and future orientation on career decision-making. This means that a higher level of self-efficacy and future orientation strongly influence career decision-making. The first minor hypothesis test obtained a t-value of 4.834 with a significance level of 0.000 (p <0.01). It is concluded that the hypothesis is accepted; self-efficacy has a very significant positive effect on career decision-making. The results of the second minor analysis obtained a t-value of 2.832 with a significance level of 0.005 (p <0.05). It is concluded that the hypothesis is accepted; future orientation has a very significant positive effect on career decision-making.

Academic performance, family support, interest and career decision among undergraduate students in Nigeria

Studies in the five recent years have shown that more than half of Nigerian undergraduate students changed their study programs and career decisions. Notwithstanding this fact, lack of research addresses factors that affect the Nigerian undergraduate students made such a decision. Therefore, the present study aims to explore the influence of academic performance, family support, and interest on career decision of undergraduate students in Jigawa state Nigeria. A set of questionnaires was utilized as an instrument to collect the data from a total of 373 Nigerian undergraduate students. Drawing on correlational study using structural equation modelling approach, this study revealed that academic reason (t=3.452; β=0.191; P=0.001) and family support (t=4.554; β=0.234; P=0.000) have statistically significant correlation with career decision making of the students. On the contrary, interest was empirically proven to not have a significant relationship with the career decision making (t=0.899; β=-.056; P=0.369). Thus, it is concluded that academic reason and family support play more crucial role in determining the career decision of undergraduate students in Nigeria than their interest abilities. This study provides implication for Nigerian government and non-government organizations to massively educate parents and families so that they can encourage their children’s career paths and support their career choices.

Women’s learning motivations: Qualitative inquiry of doctoral students in civil engineering

Professional practice and engineering education are important developments in the field of engineering. Based on Social Cognitive Career and Motivation Theory, this study aims to understand the motivations, reasons, and career decisions of doctoral students of civil engineering. Specifically, the researcher aims to understand the motivations and reasons that may influence students’ decision-making processes, particularly those of women, in regard to joining a doctoral degree programme in engineering. An interpretative phenomenological analysis was utilised in this study, with three interview sessions and one focus group activity employed for data collection. The findings indicate that achievements regarding education and career goals (becoming leading engineers and engineering educators), interests in career development (achieving advanced qualifications to obtain higher leadership positions), and the importance of surrounding environments and individuals (integral to One Belt One Road opportunities) are the main motivations and sense-making elements in regard to career decisions. Government leaders, human resources planners, department heads, university leaders, organisational managers, and other researchers may use this study as a blueprint to reform and improve their human resources management and engineering education schemes based on the recommendations and desires of scientists.

Relationship between Family Support and Student Career Decision Making in Vocational High School

This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and student career decision making. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Binjai in class XI. This research includes quantitative research with correlational methods. The data collection technique is in the form of a questionnaire (questionnaire). The population of this study amounted to 266 students. The sample of this study amounted to 40 students. The sampling technique was done randomly. The results showed that from the results of the product moment correlation analysis hypothesis test of 0.942 > 0.312, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and (Ha) is accepted, it shows that there is a very strong relationship between family support and student career decision making.at SMK Negeri 1 Binjai.

Career path support for special needs students with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties in middle school in Japan: a qualitative study

Emotional and behavioural problems have marked adverse effects on school engagement and student performance. While previous studies have investigated the transition from primary to secondary school, middle to high-school transitions are not well-documented. Therefore, this qualitative study focuses on teachers charged with special needs classes in middle schools to identify their difficulties in supporting the career decisions of students with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. The study participants consisted of 18 teachers from special needs classes in Japanese middle schools. We identified three themes concerning teachers’ experiences: difficulties in determining students’ future trajectories, difficulties in collaborating with stakeholders, and teachers’ considerations of what is important. The findings suggest that the stigmas associated with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties interfere career path choices of such students. Therefore, future studies about these students are essential for supporting career path-related decision-making among the teachers, students, and parents.

The two-way perspective of tourism undergraduates towards (post-)viral world: The future of tourism, and vocational development and career

This timely paper explores the future of tourism and vocational career in the Covid-19 period from the perspective of undergraduate tourism students. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 30 students majoring in tourism faculty departments following the qualitative methodology. The findings demonstrate that vocational development and career planning in the Covid-19 era and the future of tourism are the main dimensions identifying students’ perspectives. The vocational and psychological pandemic effects are shaping the future career decisions of students. Furthermore, the future of tourism includes the elements related to tourist expectations and behaviours and trends in the (post-)viral tourism.

The Influence of Learning Motivation on Student of Hospitality Accommodation Career Decision Making

This study aims to analyze the influence of learning motivation on student career decision making. Respondents in this study were 51 Hospitality Accommodation students in the Family Welfare Education Study Program, Jakarta State University. Sampling using saturated sampling technique. The research method used is a quantitative method. The results showed that the influence learning motivation on decision making is a significant influence and indicate that an increase in learning motivation can improve career decision making in students.

Tool for Predicting College Student Career Decisions: An Enhanced Support Vector Machine Framework

The goal of this research is to offer an effective intelligent model for forecasting college students’ career decisions in order to give a useful reference for career decisions and policy formation by relevant departments. The suggested prediction model is mainly based on a support vector machine (SVM) that has been modified using an enhanced butterfly optimization approach with a communication mechanism and Gaussian bare-bones mechanism (CBBOA). To get a better set of parameters and feature subsets, first, we added a communication mechanism to BOA to improve its global search capability and balance exploration and exploitation trends. Then, Gaussian bare-bones was added to increase the population diversity of BOA and its ability to jump out of the local optimum. The optimal SVM model (CBBOA-SVM) was then developed to predict the career decisions of college students based on the obtained parameters and feature subsets that are already optimized by CBBOA. In order to verify the effectiveness of CBBOA, we compared it with some advanced algorithms on all benchmark functions of CEC2014. Simulation results demonstrated that the performance of CBBOA is indeed more comprehensive. Meanwhile, comparisons between CBBOA-SVM and other machine learning approaches for career decision prediction were carried out, and the findings demonstrate that the provided CBBOA-SVM has better classification and more stable performance. As a result, it is plausible to conclude that the CBBOA-SVM is capable of being an effective tool for predicting college student career decisions.

The Relationship between Academic Motivation Levels and Career Decisions of Physical Education and Sports Science Students

Aim: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between academic motivation levels and career decisions of physical education and sports science students. Methods: In accordance with the aim of the study, the research model was designed based on correlational survey model. The universe of the research is made up of students of Istanbul City Public and Foundation Universities, Physical Education and Sports Vocational School of Higher Education and Faculty of Sports Science, while the sample is made up of 398 voluntary students. Participants were asked to fill personal information forms, academic motivation scales and career decision scales. The data gathered were transferred to the SPSS 25 packaged software, and correlation and regression analyses were performed. Conclusion: In conclusion, it was determined that students of physical education and sports science have a good level of academic motivation while the perception of career decision is at medium level. It was determined that, there is a low level relationship between academic motivation and informed career decision and uninformed career decision, a medium level relationship between academic motivation and career decision general score, and that the academic motivation level predicts the career decision and explains 22% of the total variation. Stress, workplace bullying, and career decision of male nursing students: a qualitative inquiry of male undergraduate nursing students

Background: This study aims to understand and explore the relationships between stress, workplace bullying, and experiences of male nursing students in South Korea. A shortage of nursing professionals is currently a significant problem in the health and social care system. Although the government has established enrolment plans and scholarships for potential nursing students, long-term solutions still have not been found. The number of newly registered male nursing professionals is still significantly low. Based on the self-efficacy approach and social cognitive career and motivation theory, three research questions guided this study: (1) What are the sources of stress for male nursing students in South Korea? (2) How would male nursing students describe their position, role, and experience as male individuals in South Korea? (3) Do gender role, gender discrimination, gender bias, and gender inequality influence the experience of male nursing students in South Korea? Method: With the qualitative inquiry, 20 male nursing undergraduate students were invited. The results indicated that stress from the gender role, discrimination and social bias due to their gender and nursing position caused the relationships between stress, workplace bullying, and career decision. Results: Based on the results, male nursing students face stress, burnout, pressure, and gender bias, which may influence their career decision and long-term development. Conclusion: Therefore, government departments, university leaders, medical facilities managers, and human resource planners should take this study as the opportunity to reform and polish the government policies and regulations to answer the gender discrimination and bias in the health and social care profession.

Profile and Career Decisions of First Year Medical Students Studying at a College Located in western India

Introduction:The attitude of the students and the reasons for choosing a career, medicine in particular are of importance as input for educators to create a medical graduate.Objectives:To get an account of medical students’ reasons for choosing medicine and to document qualities of a good doctor as perceived by them. Method: Cross-sectional study was conducted through self-administered & semi- structuredquestionnaire in August 2019, at a government run Medical College of India to a batch of 200 students. Results: Majority of students were involved in some kind of sports. Honesty, good communication skills, desire to serve humanity, patience were qualities of good doctor quoted by majority of them while compassion, empathy, clinical acumen was mentioned by less than half of them. Majority of them listed self-interest or passion as the predominant reason to choose medicine as a career.A fifth of the students mentioned influence of Family or Parents as reasons to join the course. Conclusion: Compassion, empathy, Clinical acumen as qualities of a good doctor was mentioned by less than half of them. During the one month foundation program and professionalism modules the areas identified can be stressed upon.

Extent at Which Vocational Guidance Influence Career Decision of Vocational and Technical Students

Personal guidance centers on problems of personality, physical and emotional development, interpersonal relations and similar matters. But vocational guidance given to students may or may not influence their career after graduation. This study thus examined extent at which vocational guidance influence career decision of vocational and technical students. This is a descriptive research design of the survey type. 220 technical students were sampled all technical education students in Ilorin metropolis. Frequency count and mean were used answer the research questions and Hypothesis was tested with t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The findings established that vocational guidance has been able to influence career decision making of vocational and technical education students to a high extent. Also, there was no significant difference in the impact of vocational guidance on career choice of junior and senior vocational and technical education students. It was therefore recommended that Vocational and Technology Education students should be exposed to the importance of guidance services and what counseling is all about in order for them to make good career decisions.

Development of Group Counseling with Modeling Techniques to Increase Efficiency in Career Decisions of Students

This study aims to develop a guidebook for group counseling on modeling techniques to improve self-efficacy in career decision making for vocational students. This research is a type of research and development (R&D). The product acceptance tester of this manual involves 5 experts and practitioners of guidance and counseling. Testing the validity of the content of the manual product using the Lawshe formula and testing the effectiveness by finding the effective contribution (nn effect size) using the Cohen-D formula. The results of the acceptance test data analysis with the Lawshe CVR test obtained a value per item (CVR> 0 or 1) for all items, then the results of the Lawshe CVI analysis obtained a score of 1, then this result means that the value of the content validity of the product content of the group counseling guidebook Modeling technique is high, calculate the effectiveness of the guidebook and get the results 3.17 So based on the value of the effectiveness of the above then according to the criteria. If the value of effect size > 0.50 then the group counseling guide modeling technique is effective to minimize self-efficacy students'in making career decisions. This shows that the level of effectiveness of the modeling technique group counseling guidebook for SMK students is very good, so it is important to develop it for students in school.

Evaluation of a transdisciplinary project-based environmental public health curriculum for primary and secondary students

BACKGROUND AND AIM: The aim of this research was to develop, evaluate, and enhance a transdisciplinary project-based curriculum in which students engage in citizen-science to introduce them to the field of environmental public health, a subject not traditionally taught outside of tertiary education. The curriculum was designed to educate students on identifying hazards, assessing exposures, estimating and communicating risks, and developing and evaluating education-, policy-, and technology-driven solutions. METHODS: The curriculum was developed by graduate students and taught successively over the span of two years by teachers in four different public education settings. Curriculum strengths, weaknesses and impacts were documented through student and teacher questionnaires and interviews, which was then used to enhance the curriculum after each round of implementation. RESULTS:Student feedback indicated a need to limit lecture-based teaching in favor of hands-on activities; include technology-based and career-focused learning; and allow more autonomy in project selection. Teacher feedback indicated a need for guidance in citizen science project implementation; adoption of quiz-based student evaluation tools; alignment with common core standards; and unit independence to facilitate partial curriculum adoption. CONCLUSIONS:Results suggest that a community-focused project-based transdisciplinary curriculum can impact student knowledge, perceptions, behaviors, motivations and career decisions; but it requires teachers step outside the tradition of compartmentalized learning and standardized testing. The resulting curriculum highlights the need for, and aims to prepare students in, inter-professional collaborative approaches to solve today’s complex systems-dependent environmental public health problems. Career awareness is very necessary to develop the potential that exists in students to help understand, plan and make career decisions of students, because the function of career awareness is very important, a career awareness measurement tool is needed, namely in the form of a career awareness questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability . The subjects of this study were 24 students of SMKNPP Cianjur class X totaling 24 students. From the results of the validity test of 30 statements, there were 3 questions that were declared valid and the validity test got a value of 0.400 which means that it is included in the moderate category meaning that the questionnaire that has been compiled tends to show the same results and if it is tested again on time and on other subjects, the results are not far away. different.
