The article examines the expansion of the piggyback traffic segments in Russia, the development of the geography of the running of container-piggyback trains. The advantages of piggyback transportation in comparison with automobile transportation are indicated, the factors of influence on the external environment are compared. The authors investigate the possibilities of organizing the regular movement of piggyback trains for the Russian Railways holding company, taking into account the Concept of organizing piggyback transportation in 1520 Space. The reasons and main effects that contribute to the development of piggyback transportation on the railways of Russia are given.
