A study has been made of the action of carboxypeptidases A and B on native egg-white lysozyme and on lysozyme modified by enzymic and chemical means. Chromatographic identification of the amino acid residues thus released have indicated that, in agreement with previous findings, lysozyme possesses the C-terminal tripeptide structure: cystinylarginylleucine.
