R. ; Gezari, D. Y. Abstract We have mapped at 350 micron a 15' x 15' region of Sgr B2 with 3.5' resolution, and the central 2' x 3' region with 56" resolution. The observations show an extended low-surface-brightness region which is coincident with the regions of diffuse 100 micron, radio continuum, and molecular line emission, and a bright compact submillimeter source whose intensity distribution is similar to that of the core of the molecular source. The peak brightness temperature in the compact source is 23 K, which together with the gas temperature inferred from the CO observations suggests that the 350 micron optical depth is of order unity in the central 1' of the source.
