AbstractA spatial light modulator (SLM) modulates one of the properties (amplitude, phase, polarization) of an optical wavefront that may be electrical, optical or pressure sensitive. This SLM is formed via surface‐assisted assembly of a two‐dimensional array cholesteric liquid crystal bubbles in an electro‐optical cell. This SLM device serves as an input transducer enabling active or bistable processing operations to control of light transmission or scattering. This finding will be useful for optical display and touch applications.
