Roy Mayer is an Associate Professor of Education in the Department of Guidance and Pupil Personnel Services at California State University—Los Angeles. In addition, he is an active consultant to school districts and various agencies. He has been a teacher, a counselor, and a school psychologist in the public schools and has served on the faculties of Indiana University and Southern Illinois University. He has published numerous articles on behavior analysis and has co-authored, with Beth Sulzer, the text Behavior Modification Procedures for School Personnel. They are now writing a new book on the same topic. He is also currently writing, with Roger McGookin, Behavioral Consulting: Helping Teachers and Parents. He was prompted to write this article in response to David H.
