The Municipality in Motifs: Batik Marunda as a Reflection of Jakarta's Modernity

Batik Marunda is among the batik centers that are characterized by the theme of contemporary Jakarta. Therefore, it is important to see how the visual elements in batik shape the concept of the city of Jakarta as the identity of the motif. The aim of this research is to analyze the identity of batik motifs through visual analysis using Kevin Lynch's theory and visual language. The purpose is to see the potential of the city as a source of inspiration in the development of local batik motifs, with the concept of paths, edges, districts, nodes, and landmarks. Based on the results of the analysis, significant visual elements that represent the image of Jakarta in batik motifs produced by Marunda batik were identified. Analysis on the aspects of visual language in the elements of shape, line, color, composition and texture, is used to translate the aesthetic and representative values of the city image in batik motifs. Methods of research for visual analysis involved field observation, visual documentation and descriptive qualitative data analysis. Results of the study elaborate that the image of Jakarta is formed from elements of the city's landmark areas, such as buildings, bridges, vegetation and others. Marunda batik motifs illustrate local uniqueness by emphasizing urban elements as its identity. The goal of the present study is to develop local batik that utilizes the potential of the urban environment as a source of creative inspiration, while also serving as a visual chronicle of Jakarta's municipal growth and transformation.

Exploration of Jlamprang Batik Motifs using Digital Printing Techniques to Apply Please on Men's Shirt

This research aims to find out 1) the development of the jlamprang batik motif, 2) the application and placement of pleats on men's shirts with the jlamprang batik motif, and 3) the finished results of the exploration of the jlamprang batik motif using digital printing techniques to apply pleats to men's shirts. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. Data collection is carried out using questionnaires or questionnaires. The instrument scale used is the Likert scale rating. The data analysis technique used is average value. Local Wisdom of Cirebon Ethnic Megamendung Batik Motifs in the Context of Ethnopedagogy

Local wisdom in the form of Cirebon ethnic megamendung batik has great potential to be integrated into learning in elementary schools, but currently its application is still limited. This research aims to analyze the symbolic meaning and values ​​contained in megamendung batik and identify the material content that can be conveyed in science and science learning. Qualitative methods with a micro ethnographic approach were used in this research, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, documentation studies and in-depth interviews. The results of this research are that megamendung has symbolic meaning and values ​​contained in the batik. The symbolic meaning contained is that we as humans, when we are at the top, must always protect our fellow citizens. The values ​​contained in the Megamendung batik motif are Islamic values, moral values ​​and artistic values. From the results of this research, it can be concluded that megamendung can be used as a learning resource. Through megamendung batik, several material contents can be conveyed, including history, values ​​such as moral values, Islam, which can be seen from the motifs, colors and structures of the batik. Then the next material content can be delivered through a project, namely drawing and coloring Megamendung batik motifs

Contemporary Batik on The Verge of Risk: The Urgency of Copy Right Registration for Legal Protection

Contemporary batik is characterised by motifs or patterns containing freedom of expression, not bound by tradition and patterns that tend to be more modern. In Purworejo Regency, there are 48 contemporary batik craftsmen, but only 6 craftsmen have copyright certificates for their contemporary batik motifs. While other craftsmen do not yet have a copyright certificate. Though copyright is a legal protection needed for a work, one of them contemporary batik. Copyright is an exclusive right granted to the copyright holder to use, reproduce or give permission for it on a work. This study aims to analyse the legal protection of contemporary batik through copyright registration. To achieve these goals, this research was conducted using normative sociological legal research methods. Normative sociological means that the research is conducted by examining existing legal materials, then analysing how its implementation in society in accordance with the problems faced. Legal materials collected will be reviewed comprehensively and analysed deductively with a systematic presentation. The results showed that copyright registration provides legal protection against contemporary batik motifs. Through this copyright registration, the creator will get a copyright certificate, where the certificate can be proof of legal ownership of batik motifs. Legal protection provided in the form of preventive protection, namely prevention so that no one else who imitates the contemporary batik motif. Furthermore, protection repressive, namely case settlement can be done through the path of litigation or non-litigation when there is a case related to batik motifs contemporary.

Batik Pattern Classification Using Machine Learning Approaches

Batik is one of Malaysia traditional textile art form that is well known. By using Artificial Neural Network (ANN), k-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN) and Decision Tree methods, this study aims to classify Kelantan batik designs according to flora, fauna and geometry motifs. 133 images of the three categories were collected from social media and underwent pre-processing techniques. Image augmentation was done to enhance the diversity and quality of available training data for machine learning models. Digital transformation on the images based on colour features was developed to classify the three types of batik motifs. Image embedding was employed which returned a vector representation of each image in a data table in Orange software. The data divided into training and testing dataset, with a ratio of 8:2. The performance of each machine learning techniques were compared. The findings showed that ANN produced an excellent performance as indicated by classification accuracy (CA) of 87.9% for original images and 82.2% using Luminance Gradient image transformation technique. ANN also returns the highest AUC score indicating it is the best in distinguishing the images motif. Results from confusion matrix showed that ANN have the least misclassification for batik classification. Based on the result, it signifies that ANN performs the best classification among the three approaches.

Revealing the Relationship of Batik Motifs Using Convolutional Neural Network

This study explores the use of Convolutional Neural Network to identify and classify regional batik motifs, a significant aspect of Indonesian cultural heritage. The CNN model was optimized with Adam optimizer and used to extract distinctive features from the batik patterns. Subsequently, a hierarchical clustering method was employed to construct a relationship tree depicting the link between batik motifs based on their region. The research findings demonstrate that the CNN model effectively classifies batik motifs with an accuracy of up to 88%. The study provides insights into the intricate connections between regional batik designs and contributes to the preservation and understanding of Indonesia's cultural heritage.

A mobile-optimized convolutional neural network approach for real-time batik pattern recognition

This research focuses on preserving and sharing knowledge about Indonesian batik, a blend of art and technology symbolizing the nation's creativity. To address declining awareness of batik types, a mobile application is introduced for real-time recognition and classification of batik motifs. The goal is to maintain appreciation and understanding of this cultural heritage. Using the EfficientNet convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture, the study enhances model accuracy with effective scaling. A dataset of 1350 images representing 15 batik types supports robust model training and evaluation. Results demonstrate successful implementation, yielding an Android app capable of deep learning-based real-time recognition with an 83% accuracy rate. This innovation aims to empower users to identify and appreciate distinct batik types, ensuring cultural preservation for current and future generations.

PENGEMBANGAN LEMBAR KERJA PESERTA DIDIK (LKPD) BERBASIS ETNOMATEMATIKA PADA MATERI TRANSFORMASI

This study aims to produce teaching materials in the form of ethnomathematics-based worksheets on Lampung batik motifs in understanding valid and practical geometric transformation concepts. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D). This research produced a product in the form of ethnomathematics-based worksheets on transformation material at SMP PGRI Kesumadadi. The research procedure used is the Borg and Gall development model which goes through several stages including: potentials and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, product testing, and product revision. In the product trial stage, a limited trial was carried out involving 15 class IX students at SMP PGRI Kesumadadi. The research instruments used were material expert validation sheets, media expert validation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The results of this development research show that the assessment of the material expert validation obtained an average validation result of 88.12% with the validation criterion of "Very Valid". Furthermore, the results of the validation of media experts obtained an average validation result of 91.66% with the validation criterion of "Very Valid". The results of the analysis of the student response questionnaire at the limited trial stage obtained a percentage of 92.6% with the practicality criterion "Very Practical".

Fractal geometry is a part of mathematics that discusses the shape of fractals or any form that is self-similarity. A fractal can be broken down into parts that are all similar to the original fractal. Fractals have infinite detail and can have self-similar structures at different magnifications. In many cases, a fractal can be generated by repeating a pattern, which is usually in a recursive or iterative process. In mathematics and art, two values are considered to be a golden ratio relationship if the ratio between the sum of the two values to the large value is equal to the ratio between the large value to the small value. A Fibonacci sequence is a sequence of numbers that has a unique shape. The first term of this sequence of numbers is 1, then the second term is also 1, then for the third term it is determined by adding the two previous terms so that a sequence of numbers with a certain pattern is obtained. Pascal's triangle is a geometric rule of binomial coefficients in a triangle. Shapes that resemble fractal geometry, golden ratios and Fibonacci numbers are found in many places in this realm, for example the shapes of various plants, animals, as well as in humans themselves, even the universe. This fractal geometry can also be used to design batik motif creations, architectural design or musical art. This paper describes how a fractal object can be made with geometric transformations that can be used to develop batik motif creations. And also look at the relationship between fractal geometry, the golden ratio, Fibonacci numbers, and Pascal's triangles and the shapes of these shapes that exist in this nature.

Penciptaan motif batik kabumian sebagai ikon Kabupaten Kebumen

Each region has local potential which is visualized in the form of art. However, there are several regions that do not yet have the characteristics of batik in that area. One of them is Kebumen Regency. Creating batik motifs inspired by natural potential and icons in Kebumen Regency, knowing how to visualize and how to apply them to written batik. Descriptive qualitative methods, with interviews, literature studies, observation, documentation and visual studies were used in this research. The research results show that after going through several exploration processes looking for existing potential, there are 5 sources of ideas used as the main motif, namely rice, coconut, swallows, boats, and shrimp. The batik cloth is made using the written batik technique and the dyeing process using the dyeing technique. The dyes used are indigosol o4b, ib, and 14r which are fixed using HCl and nitrite solutions. The results of this study, the batik made contains 5 elements that are the reference or icon of Kebumen Regency and in the future can become the characteristic batik of Kebumen Regency.

This design uses descriptive qualitative research with a scientific background of phenomena that occur in the field, through the process of collecting data from literature studies and field studies which are analyzed in detail and then explained descriptively, so that they can be used as a reference in designing the intended facilities. The design of the Surabaya Typical Batik Training Center and Gallery has an exclusive space concept, namely specializing Surabaya batik to be enjoyed in a luxurious room atmosphere and varied spatial experiences so that the space is not monotonous and makes Surabaya batik motifs a strong and bold design characteristic in that space.

This type of research is qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. The methods used for data collection are interviews, observation and documentation. The pattern of applying appropriate technology design based on CNC machines in the stamp batik industry aims to accelerate production. With this technology, the efficiency and quality of batik stamp production are significantly improved, reducing reliance on manual processes that take a lot of time and effort. The methods used include intensive training and mentoring to batik craftsmen in the use of CNC machines to create batik patterns with high precision. The results show a significant increase in the speed and consistency of production, as well as a decrease in the error rate in making batik motifs. In addition, the use of CNC technology has a positive impact on the productivity and income of batik artisans, ultimately improving their well-being. The pattern of applying this technology not only speeds up the production process but also improves the quality of the final product, so that batik stamp can be more competitive in the global market.
