KELOMPOK MUSIK CV. BINTANG GRUP: MEDIA MERAWAT IDENTITAS ADAT BATAK MELALUI MUSIK DI SOLO RAYA

Migration is an activity that has become a tradition for the Batak people. The migration destinations extend beyond the island, one of which is in the Solo Raya area. The identity of the Batak community remains preserved during migration because their original customs and culture continue to be an integral part of their daily lives. The purpose of this journal is to explore the cultural life of the Batak community and the steps they have taken to preserve their traditional identity through music, specifically through CV. Bintang Group. The research method used in this journal is qualitative, collecting data through observation, interviews, literature studies, and several other methods. The findings indicate that the Batak community, represented by CV. Bintang Group, has successfully preserved their traditional identity through various means. These include teaching Batak music to their children, participat ing in cultural events outside of traditional Batak ceremonies, possessing a complete set of traditional Batak instruments, and being active on social media. The conclusion of this research is that the Batakcommunity has successfully maintained their traditional identity even while living in distant lands.

KARYA MUSIK LUNGUN: INTERPRETASI VOKAL ANDUNG BATAK TOBA DALAM KONSEP MUSIK KAMAR

Lungun is a musical work inspired by a tradition in the death ceremony of the Toba Batak people, called the andung tradition. Andung is a song of sadness that expresses one's feelings of grief for a loved one. Andung chanting is chanted by a pangandung (poet) using hata andung verses (Toba Batak fine literature) whose content tells the life history of someone who has died. In its current development, the andung tradition has shifted, and many cannot practice it because many younger generations can no longer speak hata andung, and andung singing which have been replacing with spiritual songs. The analysis of the andung tradition revealed distinct characteristics of the andung melody and the presentation of Gondang Sabangunan music for death ceremonies. The creation of the musical work Lungun aims to find out the musical form and its symbolic meaning. The method used is panca sthiti ngawi sani, which consist of five stages: (1) inspiration (ngawirasa), (2) exploration (ngawacak), (3) conception (ngarencana), (4) execution (ngawangun) and (4) production (ngabah). Lungun's musical work incorporates elements such as the Toba Batak scales, processed andung vocals, hata andung poems, rhythm processing, and Gondang Sabangunan playing techniques into chamber music performances. Lungun music has three parts: part I is mula-mula (beginning), part II is andung (vocal singing), and part III is poda (message). The symbolic meaning expressed in Lungun music refers to the values found in the Toba Batak community: the Dalihan Na Tolu Batak philosophy, the five levels of Toba Batak death, and the seven Toba Batak philosophies.

Penerapan Kearifan Lokal Samosir dalam Mengeksplorasi Bentuk-Bentuk Geometri

The purpose of this study is to investigate how the Batak people in Samosir use their local knowledge to understand geometric shapes. The literature review research method, which is a data collection strategy focused on the evaluation of relevant and current scientific literature related to the research problem, is used in this publication. The data sources in the study came from Google Scholar, Scopus, and SINTA. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the data analysis show that the way local knowledge is applied to the study of geometric forms shows how Batak culture has used geometric principles in religious ceremonies as well as art and construction. In addition to having a practical and aesthetic purpose, these geometric shapes have a deep philosophical feel that enhances the cultural identity and bond of the community with nature and its ancestors. Through the local wisdom of the Batak people in Samosir, geometric ideas have been successfully identified and applied to various parts of their lives, including traditional house buildings, traditional artifacts, and ulos weaving crafts. Overall, this study shows how the concept of geometry is used organically by Batak local wisdom, which is essential for preserving community peace, fostering cultural identity, and fostering spiritual ties with nature and ancestors.

Perkawinan Kristen Tanpa Eksistensi Adat Batak Toba di Gereja HKBP Kota Denpasar

This research aims to explain and describe the Batak Community's views on Christian marriage without the existence of Toba Batak traditional ceremonies at the HKBP Church, Denpasar City. The method required for this research is a descriptive qualitative approach. The theory that is used as a tool to obtain information in this research is the structural functionalism theory by Talcott Parsons using the action subsystem of the AGIL scheme, including adaptation, goal-attatment, interpretation and latency. The subjects of this research were married Toba Batak people, young people who were about to get married, pastors and elders of the HKBP Church in Denpasar City. The results of this research are that couples who carry out a Christian wedding ceremony but do not carry out the Toba Batak traditional wedding ceremony can be caused by economic factors, education, not getting the blessing or approval of both parents of the couple's family, differences in beliefs and cultural values. as well as ethics. Several couples from the Toba Batak community of the HKBP Church in Denpasar City were mostly due to spending a lot on Toba Batak traditional peak party activities, specifically dowry money. Apart from that, there are thoughts of today's young people who are of the opinion that marriage according to Christian beliefs is already valid or official through a marriage blessing in the Church, but according to tradition, the couple still has debts that must be paid off immediately in order to be recognized and prayed for as having entered into a legal marriage. This occurs because of the transition to modernization which results in a shift in a socio-cultural structure such as kinship, traditional philosophy, roles or functions and etc.

Ecological, Socioeconomic, and Economic Factors Shaping Vegetable Oil Production in the Batak People Community of North Sumatera

Abstract This research delves into the intricate interplay between ecological, socioeconomic, and economic factors in the production of vegetable oils, with a specific focus on the Batak People community in Tapanuli-Toba Samosir, North Sumatra. The research highlights the profound importance of considering these multifaceted aspects within the context of farmers’ labour rights and community empowerment, thereby illuminating the industry’s broader implications. The study is structured into three principal dimensions: ecological consideration, socioeconomic dimensions, and economic viability. The study assesses farmers’ working conditions and wages, their engagement with national and international labour standards, and the extent to which the vegetable oil industry influences the socioeconomic well-being of the Batak People community. It analyses market dynamics, value chain processes, and the influence of government policies and subsidies on the industry’s economic prospects. By doing so, the research aims to discern how the vegetable oil industry can contribute to the region’s broader economic development. To foster knowledge exchange and collaborative problem-solving, an international seminar is proposed. This seminar will bring together academics, government researchers, industry experts, and community representatives. The event’s objectives include sharing research findings, addressing industry challenges, expanding networks, and crafting a sustainable framework for the vegetable oil sector. This research, alongside the international seminar, seeks to enhance our comprehension of encouraging sustainable practices and formulating policies that can serve as models for similar regions.

Tradisi Mangongkal Holi sebagai Penegasan Identitas Suku Batak

The Toba Batak community resides in various regions of Indonesia, yet they share traditions that unite their identity as Batak people. One such emblem of unity is the Mangongkal Holi tradition. The purpose of this research is to describe the Mangongkal Holi ceremony as an expression to affirm the identity of the Toba Batak people. The method employed to gather data for this study was through literature review. Three essential questions served as instruments in this research. First, what is the significance of the Mangongkal Holi ceremony? Second, how and when is this ceremony conducted? Third, what is the meaning behind this ceremony? The research findings reveal that despite the dispersion of Toba Batak people across different regions, after the passing of their relatives, they bring the ancestral bones to be unified at a place called the Monument. The process of collecting these bones at a monument is referred to as Mangongkal Holi. This ceremony is conducted based on family agreements, considering this tradition as a means of reunion among families. The ceremony holds significance as a gesture of reverence to the ancestors and as a symbol of kinship

Idiom-idiom Kematian pada Suku Batak Toba

This study analyzes 13 types of death idioms in the Batak Toba culture, a sub-ethnic group of the Batak people, to document and understand the uniqueness and complexity of their death customs. A qualitative literature review method was used to collect and analyze data from various relevant written sources. The results show that each death idiom reflects the conditions and social status of the deceased, ranging from the death of children to adults with great-grandchildren. The novelty of this research lies in the detailed documentation and in-depth analysis of each death idiom, providing insights into the values, philosophies, and beliefs of the Batak Toba regarding life and death. This research is significant in the context of cultural preservation and education for future generations. The researchers recommend further studies on the impact of modernization and social changes on the implementation of death customs, as well as the role of technology and media in documenting and disseminating knowledge about these traditions

NILAI DALIHAN NA TOLU DALAM MEMBANGUN HIDUP BERSAMA: TINJAUAN RELASIONALITAS ARMADA RIYANTO

The author focuses on the kinship system in Batak Toba culture, known as Dalihan Na Tolu. This kinship system is interpreted as identity and even serves as a guiding principle in the traditional cultural activities of Batak Toba. Dalihan Na Tolu consists of three hearthstones used for cooking. These three hearthstones are depicted as the kinship system in Batak Toba culture. The three hearthstones are Hula-hula, Dongan Tubu, and Boru. In Batak Toba culture, each person will assume one of the roles among these three elements. For the Batak people, Dalihan Na Tolu plays an important role and serves as the heart of every ceremony and relationship with others. Meanwhile, according to Armada Riyanto, self-giving transcends the relationship between "I" and "others." The research method employed by the author is a literature review involving critical analysis of various Batak culture books and previous research studies that discuss Dalihan Na Tolu. The methodology used is Armada Riyanto's relationality. This study, finds that Dalihan Na Tolu is a guiding principle for Batak people in their relationships with others. This kinship system is a local cultural heritage with profound philosophical values

The Meaning of Mangolusi in The Batak Toba Wedding Ritual

This study explores how the meaning of Mangulosi in the traditional wedding rituals of the Batak Toba people is deeply explored and uses ethnographic communication theory to present the wedding customs of the Toba Batak people. (Hymes in Kuswarno 2008: 22) and the constructivist paradigm. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, documentation, literature review, combination/triangulation and sources. The researcher used the traditional Toba Batak marriage subject, namely Mangulosi, as a data source to analyze the series of questions asked in the study with reference to the theory used. Research findings show that the traditional marriage landscape is in disarray. Toba Batak is a sacred custom that all members of the Toba Batak community perform or must perform, both at the time of marriage and after death. As for , the event begins with a marriage proposal from the groom's family (first her ) to the bride's family. Traditional Wedding the Mangulosi event at Batak Toba begins with a marriage proposal from the groom's family to a woman from the bride's family. Eksistensi Nilai Ketuhanan Dalam Budaya Batak Toba

This research was conducted with the aim of determining the existence of divine values ​​in Toba Batak culture. This research method is to use a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study approach. This research is intended to find out the extent of the existence of divine values ​​in Toba Batak culture, even though it is known that the Toba Batak people have different religions. In conclusion, the results of this research show that Toba Batak culture still highly upholds divine values, and the presence of God can be experienced through encounters with others and the universe. The Toba Batak people believe that the experience of God is present and realized through the application of daily life. It is at that moment that God is experienced as the foundation and soul of all creatures.

A shift of inheritance tradition in Batak migrant communities in Yogyakarta

This article examines the shift in customary inheritance in the Batak community that migrated to Yogyakarta. Traditionally, among the Batak people, the patrilineal system is a cultural heritage still preserved today. The enactment of the patrilineal system is one of the causes of the unequal position of Batak women's inheritance rights because only men have the right to become heirs. Interaction with people of different ethnicities, customs, and customs in overseas places not only expands the horizons of Batak nomads but also allows them to change their point of view so that leaving the roots of Batak customs will be inevitable. Until now, some Batak nomads still make boys as heirs, but it is undeniable that there is a mixture of heterogeneous communities in overseas areas that can give rise to a shift in the views of Batak nomads so that they become more open, such as accepting women as heirs with different parts. Equalizing the position between men and women through the division of inheritance indicates a shift in Batak inheritance customs that apply in the environment of the migrants. The emergence of the balance of position between men and women in the implementation of inheritance increasingly shows that the non-maintenance of customary rules that do not give inheritance rights to women is not solely preserving the identity of the Batak Toba people overseas. However, it should be suspected as one of the dynamics that emerged in the settlement of heritage by Toba Batak nomads.

RE-Interpretasi Teologis Mangido Pasu-Pasu Dari Tulang Dalam Ritus Pernikahan Di Desa Huta Manik Kec. Sumbul

The aim of this research focuses on the issue of how to understand and interpret Mangido pasu-pasu's theological RE-interpretation of bones in wedding rites in Huta Manik village. The research method used is Qualitative Descriptive research, and Contextual theology method using a Synthesis approach model where theology is built on the basis of one's own cultural perspective and the culture of others. The data collection technique for this research is using semi-structured interviews and documentation in the form of pictures. Based on the results of research conducted by the author, in the context of this research, the theological Re-Interpretation of Mangido Pasu-pasu includes a re-examination of the meaning and theological values ​​contained in this practice, with a new and in-depth perspective or interpretation. This research focuses on the problem of the meaning of the Mangido Pasu-pasu tradition where Toba Batak people still think that Pasu-pasu Tulang is equivalent to God's Pasu-pasu, and Toba Batak people also think that Tulang is God's representative.

Analysis of the Legends of the Siahan and Siregar Hundul-Hundulan Stones

The problem in this research is the intrinsic elements and sociological values of literature contained in the Legend of Batu Hundul-Hundulan Siahaan and Siregar. The legend of Batu Hundul-Hundulan is a form of story owned by the Toba Batak people, specifically those in Huta Nagodang Village, Muara District, North Tapanuli Regency. The arrangement and events that occur in the Legend of Batu Hundul-Hundulan are structured and translated into a story and explore the cultural values in it. The method used in writing this article is a qualitative descriptive method using field techniques. The purpose of writing this article is to describe the intrinsic elements and sociological values of literature in the folklore of Batu Hundul-hundulan Siregar and Siahaan. This article is analyzed by utilizing structural theory along with literary sociology. The results found in this article are the intrinsic elements of the Batu Hundul-hundulan Siregar and Siahaan stories including: theme, plot and setting, character and characterization, point of view, as well as message and moral message. The literary sociological values contained in this story include: Conflict, responsibility, mutual help, cooperation, loyalty, a sense of belonging, caring and trust. The Symbolic Meaning of Traditional Woven Fabric Ulos as A Spiritual Expression in Batak Toba Rituals

Every society in the world has a certain ability to produce traditional woven cloth as a result of its culture. Likewise, for the Batak people, the traditional woven cloth is called ulos, it is accepted as a symbol of a Batak spiritual expression. In the Batak tradition, giving or receiving a ulos is done based on the rules and procedures generally accepted in society. Giving and receiving ulos also represents a number of ideal values from the people who adhere to it. In substance, these are the values that are symbolically conveyed to someone and it is hoped that they will be realized in the future, accompanied by hopes and prayers. Typically, giving ulos does not have to take into account the particular religion or belief of the person receiving it, and the person to whom the ulos is given receives it with joy. So, ulos itself is universal because it is able to strengthen the solidarity of Batak people of different religions, both personally and collectively. The theory used refers to Clifford Geertz's theory regarding religion as a symbol system found in every culture. In Sandra Niessen's perspective, ulos is an expression and spiritual image of the Toba Batak people. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out research through a study process to find out whether the traditional ulos woven cloth is closely related to the spiritual values that the Batak have had since ancient times.

Spiritual being in Parmalim theology of the Batak people in North Sumatra

This article explains the religious system of Parmalim sect found in the Batak lands of North Sumatra. The problem in the research is how the Parmalim theology is constructed and several aspects related to the religious ceremonies. In Parmalim, theology and religious rituals tend to be more dominant with natural theology. The main teachings of this sect mostly come from narratives and cultural texts and ethical teachings of the Batak community. This community still exists today because of its ability to adapt to the culture of the community and the support of the traditional Batak leaders themselves.Contribution: The study provides vital insights into the religious composition of the Parmalim sect and the socio-cultural factors contributing to its resilience. It contributes to the broader understanding of religious diversity, tolerance and the role of leadership in the survival of such communities, aligning with the journal’s focus on religious studies and cultural dynamics.

This article will discuss the role of "debata" theology of calling within the context of Christian faith in Batak society, Indonesia. "Debata" theology of calling refers to the teachings and customary traditions of the Batak people that regulate the duties, responsibilities, and obligations of individuals within the community. This article will analyze how "debata" theology of calling influences the practices and perceptions of the Christian faith among the Batak community. The literature sources utilized in this article include research, books, and papers related to Christian theology and Batak culture.

Teologi Katolik Menerangi Pemahaman Masyarakat Batak Toba Tentang Roh

The writing of this thesis begins with the emergence of the author’s awarenes of the importance of understanding spirits of the Toba Batak culture in harmony with Catholic Theology. The meaning of spirit in Toba Batak culture is often understood both among the Toba Batak people and from other tribes, as a custom of idol worship. Chatolic Theology confirms that the spirit is a divine power that work in every creation, transport in all living things and is active in humans, specifically the Holy Spirit that is bestowed by God in every human being. The existence of the Holy Spirit in human being is a gift fom God himself to support human being to life. The religion and cultural customs are not two things that go in contradictory directions, but they are two features that strengthen each other. The culture is inherent in human existence from birt, and the religion is a way for human being to identify the faith in Jesus Christ himseft. A human being who is cultured and trough the help of the Holy Spirit will be able to experience oneness with God. Thus, the Religion and culture are two characteristics that lead human beings to the equal goal, namely human self-improvement.

Malim Belief System in The Toba Batak Community in Air Kulim Village, Bathin Solapan District, Bengkalis Regency

This research is entitled "Malim Belief System in the Toba Batak Community in Air Kulim Village, Bathin Solopan District, Bengkalis Regency". The aim of this research is to describe the historical background, as well as look at the forms of rituals contained in the malim belief system in Air Kulim Village. The theory used in this research is Victor Turner's ritual theory which explains rituals. The method used is qualitative research. The data collection techniques are field observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used in this research are collecting data, reducing data, displaying data and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that the presence of this malim belief system originated from the Batak people in the North Sumatra area, which was spread by King Sisingamangaraja. Then King Sisingamangaraja gave a mandate to Raja Mulia Naipospos to lead the malim belief and disseminate the malim belief system. Until now, the malim belief system has developed into several areas in Indonesia, one of which is Air Kulim Village. Through a husband and wife who initially came to Air Kulim Village to migrate looking for work. In the Malim belief system there are several rituals that they still carry out today, namely: ceremony mararisabtu, ceremony martutuaek, ceremony pasahat tondi, ceremony mardebata, ceremony mangan na paet, ceremony sipaha sada, ceremony sipaha lima. Some of these rituals are still carried out by adherents of the malim belief system in Air Kulim Village as a form of worship to Debata Mulajadi Nabolon.

New House Ceremony

This research aims to find out about the new house ceremony, specifically in the Batak toba custom, by exploring and documenting what is known as "Mambongoti Bagas" practiced by the Batak tribe, especially the Toba subgroup. Mamongoti Bagas is an important ceremony since the house is a sacred place for Batak people, especially when it is new. This ceremony takes place in the owner's new house, and the goods used can vary. The method used is to observe the Mambongoti Bagas tradition of the Batak Toba tribe. The results of the research show the celebration of the new house of the tobayang Batak tribe is also called "Mambongoti Bagas" The ceremony begins with respect in the form of local cuisine, "Namalum" (pork neck) to Tulang and Tondong, and they will give ulos to the owner of the house (Suhut), blessings (pasu-pasu) to Suhu, Boru, and Sanina give food namely manuk (dayok), batur manggoluh and rice to Suhut, then prayers and advice.

The Application of Frieze Groups and Crystallographic Groups in Generating Batak Toba Ornament Motifs Using a Matlab Graphical User Interface

Gorga is a carving or sculpture typically found on the exterior of a Toba Batak traditional house. The Batak people use fractal (geometric) dimensions in Batak gorga carvings. In mathematics, repetitive and symmetrical patterns in planes that result from transformations are included in the plane symmetry groups. Ethnomathematics is a cultural approach to the concept of mathematics. A frieze group can be defined as a symmetrical group which arises from a unidirectional translation and subsequently generates a linear pattern that recurs exclusively in a single direction. There are seven different pattern types in the frieze groups. Meanwhile, crystallographic patterns are flat two-dimensional patterns that form a lattice. There are 17 crystallographic types of patterns with five different types of unit lattices. The purpose of this study is to generate motifs for Batak ornaments based on frieze groups and crystallographic groups using a Matlab Graphical User Interface (GUI). A total of 119 new motifs were generated based on seven types of patterns in the frieze groups, namely, F1,F2,F3,F4,F5,F6, and F7. Meanwhile, in the crystallographic groups, 153 new motifs were generated based on nine types of patterns, namely, p1,p2,pm,pg,cm,pmg,pmm,cmm, and pgg. To keep with trends, the new motifs generated can be used in everyday life as decorations or business symbols that are characteristic of the Toba Batak region.
