Analysis of Physico-Chemical Factors of Ramganga River Water in Bareilly District

The systematic study was carried out to determine the physico-chemical parameters of water samples of Ramganga River in Bareilly district. The rivers are an essential water resource and used for several purposes. The water quality of all fresh water ecosystems is assessed by the physico-chemical. Water samples were collected from 3 sites along the river and analyzed using standard methods in laboratory. The physico-chemical characteristics were studied and analyzed for a period of 6 months from April 2022 to September 2022. Various physico-chemical parameters such as Temperature, PH, transparency, total dissolved solids, total suspended solids, DO, FCO2, Carbonates, Bicarbonates, chlorides, Calcium, Magnesium, Total hardness of lake were estimated throughout the year.

Optimizing Crop Yield Estimation through Geospatial Technology: A Comparative Analysis of a Semi-Physical Model, Crop Simulation, and Machine Learning Algorithms

This study underscores the critical importance of accurate crop yield information for national food security and export considerations, with a specific focus on wheat yield estimation at the Gram Panchayat (GP) level in Bareilly district, Uttar Pradesh, using technologies such as machine learning algorithms (ML), the Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT) crop model and semi-physical models (SPMs). The research integrates Sentinel-2 time-series data and ground data to generate comprehensive crop type maps. These maps offer insights into spatial variations in crop extent, growth stages and the leaf area index (LAI), serving as essential components for precise yield assessment. The classification of crops employed spectral matching techniques (SMTs) on Sentinel-2 time-series data, complemented by field surveys and ground data on crop management. The strategic identification of crop-cutting experiment (CCE) locations, based on a combination of crop type maps, soil data and weather parameters, further enhanced the precision of the study. A systematic comparison of three major crop yield estimation models revealed distinctive gaps in each approach. Machine learning models exhibit effectiveness in homogenous areas with similar cultivars, while the accuracy of a semi-physical model depends upon the resolution of the utilized data. The DSSAT model is effective in predicting yields at specific locations but faces difficulties when trying to extend these predictions to cover a larger study area. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers by providing near-real-time, high-resolution crop yield estimates at the local level, facilitating informed decision making in attaining food security.

Ehrlichia canis Infection in a Labrador Retriever Dog: A Case Report

A six-year-old Labrador retriever dog with a history of fever, inappetence, and unilateral epistaxis was presented to the Referral Veterinary Clinical Complex, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar. Clinical examination revealed the dog had pyrexia, an enlarged peripheral lymph node, and the presence of ticks on the body. The dog was suspected of having a haemoprotozoan infection, and a thin peripheral blood smear was submitted to the Division of Parasitology, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatanagar, Bareilly, for examination. A blood smear was screened for haemoprotozoan examination using Giemsa’s stain, which showed positivity for Ehrlichia canis. Treatment was initiated with Doxycycline at 10 mg/kg B.wt. orally once for 28 days, along with supportive therapy, which resulted in a significant improvement in the dog's condition. An incidence of E. canis was reported from the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh.

A Case Report on Hepatozoon canis Infection in a Dog

A thin peripheral blood smear collected from a four years of old dog (Labrador breed) was received from the Referral Veterinary Clinical Complex, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar to the Division of Parasitology, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar for the diagnosis of haemoprotozoan disease during the month of October, 2023. Blood smear was screened for the parasitological examination using Giemsa’s stain showed positive for Hepatozoon canis. The dog was treated with single dose of Imidocarb dipropionate @ 6.6 mg/kg subcutaneously and Doxycycline @ 5mg/kg orally for 28 days with supportive therapy. The dog was infected with Hepatozoon canis conventionally diagnosed as well as therapeutically managed. Incidence of H. canis was documented in a dog from Bareilly district of Uttar Paradesh.

Socio-Economic and Psychological Attributes of Sugarcane Grovers of Barelilly District of Uttar Pradesh

The study was conducted in Bareilly district U.P., and the result of study will assist to various government organisation, stakeholders, sugarcane industry and NGOs to frame a specific programme, plan and policy for their further developments. The sugarcane industry refers to processing, manufacturing and value addition of sugarcane produces to produce jaggery, sugar, bagasse, molasses, papers, plastic, alcohol and biofuels etc. It is one of the most important sectors of the Indian economy, as it contributes to the rural development, employment generation, and export earnings. The study was carried out with 100 respondents. The result explore that, majority of respondents (70%) belong to middle age group, most of them (80%) were literate with formally educated (25%) up to high school level, majority of them (58%) were belongs to other backward cast, with mostly of them (96%) were Hindu, their family were nuclear type (64%) with medium family size (65%), majority of them (42%) were small land holders, maximum (87%) had pukka house, and agriculture as a main occupation, majority of respondents (45%) belong to ₹120001- ₹180000 annual income, they were (100%) ensure participation in gram panchayat activity, majority of them (62%) have medium level of overall material possession, under the various aspect of material possession, most of respondents (93%) possess diesel engine, they were (100%) perform their agriculture field operation by use of sickle, most of them (99%) were also use bicycle as a transportation mean, they (100%) had cots as household materials possession, most of them (55%) were medium level of communicational media, also most of them (65%) and (66%) were have medium level of economic motivation and risk orientation respectively.

Knowledge and Adoption Extent of Farmers Towards Scientific Production Practices of Sugarcane in Bareilly District of Uttar Pradesh, India

The present study was conducted out in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, India. The study was planned to investigate the knowledge and adoption levels of improved cultivation practices by sugarcane growers. The district Bareilly was selected purposely for the study. There are 15 blocks in the in selected district then one block was selected based on maximum production of sugarcane. From the selected block 10 villages were selected based on maximum production of sugarcane. From each selected villages, 10 respondents were randomly selected by using simple random sampling method without replacement. Thus, total 100 respondents were selected. From the study it was found that the majority of respondents 66 per cent were found to have medium level of knowledge, with 69 per cent adoption level towards improved cultivation practices of sugarcane. In may be concluded that there is favourable result obtain from the study but there is a scope for the respondents who have belongs to low level of knowledge and adoption towards improved practices of production of sugarcane so they improve their socio-economic condition.

Crop Residue Management Initiatives in Changing the Farmers Behaviour and Farm Production in Bareilly district

The study was conducted in Bareilly District of Western Uttar Pradesh from 2022 to 2023 to ascertain the impact of In-situ Crop Residue Management (CRM) initiatives in changing the farmers’ behaviour and improving the farm production on farmers’ field. A total of 81 adopted farmers were selected purposively for the study. In-situ crop residue management increased from 13.6 to 92.6 per cent. Further, the manure and fertilizer usage in major crops viz. wheat, sugarcane, and mustard were reduced significantly among the adopted farmers on whose fields the demonstrations of crop residue management were conducted. The crop yield of wheat, mustard, and sugarcane increased significantly by 24.44, 42.48, and 18.31 per cent, respectively among the adopted farmers. Also germination, tillering/branching in plants, moisture in soil, and size of the grain increased due to the in-situ management of crop residue as reported by 70 to 80 per cent of the farmers. Adoption of crop residue management practices in wheat crop reduced the cost of cultivation by 4 per cent and gross and net return increased by 26.8 and 44.3 per cent, respectively.

A Study of Achievement Motivation in Relation to Locality and Academic Stream of Senior Secondary School Students of Bareilly District

The present study investigated the achievement motivation of senior secondary school students in relation to their locality and academic stream. A total of 200 students comprised of 100 rural (50 Science & 50 commerce) and 100 urban (50 Science & 50 commerce) students selected randomly from ten senior secondary schools of Bareilly district. Achievement Motivation Test (Ach.MT) developed by Dr. V.P. Bhargava (2009) was administered on the sample to assess the achievement motivation. Two way ANOVA was used to analyse the data. The results revealed that locality and academic stream of students had highly significant effect on achievement motivation, but there was no significant interaction effect of locality and academic stream on achievement motivation of senior secondary school students.

A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PRIMARY & SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN REFERENCE TO THEIR SELF CONFIDENCE

In the present study, an attempt has been made to compare the self confidence of primary and secondary school teachers of Bareilly District on the basis of 10 areas :-I- Physical Confidence, II - Technological Confidence, III - Social Confidence, IV - Psychological Confidence, V - Judgment Confidence, VI - Readiness Confidence, VII - Environment Confidence, VIII - Stage confidence, IX - Status confidence, X - Peer Independence Confidence. This study has been conducted on a sample of 114 primary and secondary school teachers selected randomly from schools affiliated to C.B.S.E. & U.P. Board. The main finding of the study exhibited significant difference between male and female, primary and secondary school teachers of C.B.S.E & U.P. Board. Male teachers were found to posses more physical confident as compared to that of female teachers. Further, significant difference in physical confidence was also found between male and female teachers of primary and secondary schools. No significant difference was found in other dimensions such as:-Technological Confidence, Social Confidence, Psychological Confidence, Judgment Confidence, Readiness Confidence, Environment Confidence, Stage Confidence, Status Confidence and Peer Independence Confidence.

Newborn Care Practices and Associated Factors Influencing Their Health in a Northern Rural India

In developing countries, neonatal mortality is the most neglected health issue by the health system, leading to its emergence as a public health problem. A study was undertaken to assess the influence of factors and newborn care practices influencing newborn health in the rural area of Bareilly district. The descriptive cross-sectional study was organized in the rural areas of Bareilly. Study participants were selected based on the mothers who gave birth to a baby during the last six months. The mothers who delivered in that area within six months were included and, using the semi-structured questionnaire, data were collected. Data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS 2021 version for windows. Out of 300 deliveries, nearly one-quarter of the deliveries, 66 (22%), were happening in homes, and most of the deliveries, 234 (78%), happened in hospitals. It was observed that unsafe cord care practices were observed more among nuclear families, 8 (53.4%), than joint families, 7 (46.6%), and it was found to be statistically insignificant. The Unsafe feed was given 48 (72.7%) more commonly among home deliveries than institutional deliveries 56 (23.9%). Mothers' initiation of delayed breastfeeding was nearly the same in both home and hospital deliveries. Delayed bathing was observed in nearly three-fourths of mothers, 125 (70.1%), aged 24-29 years, followed by 29 (16.8%) in the age period of 30-35 years. The practice of essential newborn care still needs to improve in Bareilly; there is a need to create awareness among the mothers and family members on newborn and early neonatal care aspects, such as promoting exclusive and early initiation of breastfeeding and delayed bathing practices.

Impact of Soil Health Card Scheme on Soil Fertility and Crop Production Among the Adopted Farmers

The study was conducted in Bareilly district of western UP regarding adoption of recommendation of soil health card scheme and its impact on productivity and economics of different crops i.e. wheat, paddy and sugarcane. It was found that only 40 per cent farmers owned soil health card. However, due to adoption of SHT based fertilizer recommendations there was a significant increase in crop yields of wheat (30.80%), paddy (29.80%) and sugarcane (32.90%). In addition, the adoption of SHT based fertilizer recommendation had a significant reduction in production cost by Rs. 2130, 2164 and 3122/- per acre of wheat, paddy and sugarcane crops, respectively. Also, the net increase in farmer’s income was realised from one acre of wheat, paddy and sugarcane was about Rs. 11197, 12058 & 29187, respectively. Thus, the application of SHT under field condition has reduced the production cost and increased the farmers’ income.

Test to Measure Farmers’ Knowledge on Management of Parasitic Infestation in Dairy Animals

The test was developed during in 2022 in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh state to measure farmers’ knowledge on management of parasitic infestation in dairy animals. A total number of 86 items were subjected to experts for relevancy testing and finally selected 69 items for the item analysis. These 69 items were pretested on 36 respondents from other than the study area. Based on the item analysis score, difficulty and discrimination index were calculated. The items with difficulty index ranging from 30 to 80, discrimination index above 0.3 were selected. Ultimately, 30 items were selected for the final knowledge test for dairy farmers on management of parasitic infestation. The reliability of the developed test was measured by using Cronbach’s alpha method and found to be 0.8. The overall test content validity index (CVI) was found to be 0.93 which considered fit for test. Thus, the reliability and validity of the current test indicate the consistency and precision of the results. The developed test will help in assessing the knowledge level of farmers regarding parasitic infestation management and accordingly, the awareness and training programs can be planned to enhance the knowledge level of farmers.

Immunization coverage in a rural area of Bareilly district: a cross-sectional community-based study

INTRODUCTION: Infectious diseases are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in children. Immunization remains a cost-effective method for child survival against vaccine-preventable diseases. Despite all the interventions put in by the government for 100% immunization coverage, there remain pockets of low coverage, especially in rural areas.Our aim was to estimate the immunization coverage and assess sociodemographic factors associated with immunization among children aged 12-23 months in a rural area of Bareilly. METHODS: The present cross-sectional study was carried out in the field practice area under RHTC from January 2016 to June 2016 using a 30 by 7 cluster sampling technique. A total of seven children aged 12-23 months were interviewed from each cluster on a preformed, pretested, and semi-structured questionnaire, thus giving a sample size of 210. Statistical analysis was done using the Chi-square test. RESULTS: More than two-thirds (69%) of study participants were completely vaccinated, whereas about 31% were partially or not vaccinated. Immunization coverage was found to be highest for BCG (80.4%) and lowest for the third dose of DPT (69.0%). The most common reason for partial or non-immunization was found to be unawareness (45.5%) and fear of side effects (43.9%). CONCLUSION: There is a need to create awareness and increase knowledge among caretakers of children about the importance and benefits of getting immunization for their children as a major step toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) goals.

MALARIA PARASITE STATUS IN THE STATE OF UTTAR PRADESH BETWEEN 2018 AND 2022

Background: To the best knowledge of the author, there is no report on the current status of Malaria in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. This study is an attempt in that direction.
 Materials and Methods: The study design included an analysis of the 2017 and 2018 annual reports as well as the website of the of the National Centre for Vector-Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC).
 Results: Bareilly District in Uttar Pradesh had a low Annual Parasite Incidence (API) of Malaria of 0.06 in 2017 which increased to 7.32 in 2018.
 Conclusions: If interventions like the treatment of asymptomatic carriers take place, it is expected that the API in this district and the entire state will come down quickly.

A Study of Family Climate of Male and Female B.Ed. Teacher-Trainees of Bareilly District

Thepurpose of this study is to find out the difference of different dimensions of family climate of B.Ed. teacher-trainees in relation to their gender. Descriptive survey method was used for this study. A Sample of 160 B.Ed. teacher-trainees was selected by using random sampling technique from four B.Ed. colleges of Bareilly district. Family Climate Scale developed by Harpreet Bhatia & N.K. Chadha (2019) used for data collection. Data was analyzed using Mean, S.D. and t-test. Finding reveals thatsignificant difference has been found inacceptance, independence and control dimensions of family climate of male and female B.Ed. teacher-trainees.

Assessment of IPHS standard in sub-centre for providing maternal and child health services at Bareilly District of Uttar Pradesh

A sub centre is the most peripheral point of contact of the public health system with the population at large, so most of our demographics depend on the efficient functionality of these centres. The study facilities were assessed in terms of availability of infrastructure, logistics, human resources and find out the disparity in the facilities existing at Sub Centre in comparison to IPHS norms. A community-based cross- sectional study was conducted in Bhojipura block, rural field practice area of department of Community Medicine, Shri Ram Murti Samarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly India. The study was conducted from May 2014 to Sept 2014. All 24 Sub-centres catering to 100 villages of Bhojipura block covered in the study. All the assessed sub-centre’s provided Ante-natal care (ANC), Child care including immunization (as per given government schedule), Family Planning and contraception & facilities under Janani Suraksha Yojna (JSY), whereas only 78.9% provided Intra-Natal Care (INC) and 63.1% of them provided Post-Natal Care (PNC).

Socio-economic Predisposing Factors of Malnutrition among School Going Children in Bareilly District of North India: A Cross-sectional Study

Background: Malnutrition remains the ever challenging, public health concern irrespective of age and economic status. Although nutrition is essential irrespective of age but it has peerless role in the school days. The present study was conducted to assess the socio-economic predisposing factors of malnutrition among school children in the Bareilly district of North India. Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out in Bareilly district of North India. A total of 465 school children were examined for nutritional status and socio-economic factors responsible for malnutrition. Applying multi-stage random sampling technique and pretested, pre-validated schedule was used for data collection which was compiled and analysed with Epi-Info software version 7. Results: The study revealed 40% prevalence of malnutrition among school children. Socio- demographic factors such as gender, caste, type of family and residence were found statistically significant different with nutritional status of child (p<0.05). However, socio economic factors such as parental education, employment and socio economic conditions were discovered inversely related with malnutrition (p<0.05). Conclusion: The study indicates the necessity to accelerate the government’s coping strategies to win over malnutrition in especially in underserved population of country.

Spatiotemporal analysis of environmental and physiographic factors related to malaria in Bareilly district, India.

ObjectivesThe aim of this study was to explore the spatiotemporal clustering of reported malaria cases and to study the effects of various environmental and physiographic factors on malaria incidence in Bareilly district, Uttar Pradesh, India.Methods Malaria surveillance data were collected from the state health department and cleaned into an analyzable format. These data were analyzed along with meteorological, physiographic, and 2019 population data, which were obtained from the Indian Meteorological Department, National Aeronautics and Space Administration web portal, the Bhuvan platform of the Indian Space Research Organization, and the 2011 Census of India.ResultsIn total, 46,717 malaria cases were reported in Bareilly district in 2019, of which 25.99% were Plasmodium vivax cases and 74.01% were P. falciparum cases. The reported malaria cases in the district showed clustering, with significant spatial autocorrelation (Moran’s I value=0.63), and space-time clustering (p<0.01). A significant positive correlation was found between monthly malaria incidence and the monthly mean temperature (with a lag of 1−2 months) and rainfall (with a lag of 1 month). A significant negative correlation was detected between the elevation of blocks (i.e., intermediate-level administrative districts) and annual malaria reporting.Conclusion The presence of space-time clustering of malaria cases and its correlation with meteorological and physiographic factors indicate that routine spatial analysis of the surveillance data could help control and manage malaria outbreaks in the district.
