People's Motives Toward Bone Fracture Alternative Treatment in District of Bandung Barat

The purpose of this study is to determine the community motive towards an alternative treatment of bone fractures in the district of West Bandung. Today, alternative treatment, especially fracture bone treatment is still popular with the societies, whereas technology and science in the medical world are growing very rapidly. The research method used is qualitative with phenomenology approach. The results of the study show some motives that are the reasons for choosing alternative treatment, among others: [1] Economic motives. The cost of alternative treatment of fractures is fairly cheap because it is not emphasized on a certain amount of cost. [2] Social motives. Believe in the neighbor's experience or experience of the public figures who have done the alternative treatment. [3] Psychological motives. Feel safe and not afraid when doing alternative treatments.

Importance-Performance Matrix Analysis (IPMA) Of Transport Disadvantage Variables on Social Exclusion in a Rural Context

Transport services are essential to support daily life. A lack of transport supply leads to the existence of transport disadvantaged (TDA) groups who are vulnerable to social exclusion, which happens when a particular group or individual is having difficulties to access certain activities that are considered normal in society. To tackle this phenomenon, the understanding of the influence of TDA variables on social exclusion is needed. The aim of this study is to analyze the influences of TDA variables on social exclusion in a rural context, with Cibeureum Village (Bandung Barat Regency) and Bunikasih Village (Subang Regency) as the study case. Both case studies provide different characteristics of accessibility. Partial Least Squares (PLS) Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is chosen as the method to analyze the influences of TDA variables on social exclusion. The PLS-SEM model is developed according to the social exclusion variable and four TDA variables, i.e., accessibility, individual characteristics, private vehicle existence, and travel behavior. IPMA is done after the PLS-SEM model is evaluated. The study reveals that among four of the TDA variables, accessibility has the most influence on social exclusion, hence interventions related to improving accessibility are needed to tackle social exclusion. More specifically, the provision of alternative modes is needed in both study areas, while in Bunikasih Village the cost of travel is also an important variable to consider.

Developing Teaching Materials Using Comic Media to Enhance Students’ Mathematical Communication

Teaching materials are a set of materials that are arranged systematically written or not, to create an environment or atmosphere that allows students to learn. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of how the development of teaching materials using comic media that enhance mathematical communication, as well as feasible and effective teaching materials developed. Research method used in this research is Research and Development. In the sense of research contains about how to develop teaching materials through several stages such as validation by experts, as well as revisions. Sources of data used in this study were students and teachers SMK Bandung Barat. The results showed that the teaching materials developed feasible and effective use for students of class X SMK Bandung Barat. Teaching materials received a proper assessment of the experts after going through several stages of revision, in addition to the effective teaching materials used by students seen from the liveliness and the value of classical completeness that reaches more 85% of students. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the developed teaching material gets the proper judgment from the expert, and effectively used in the learning by the students of X-1 Pharmacy class with the classical completeness reach 86% and the student activity is 91,4%.

The correlation of housing estate area with regional infrastructure development in peri-urban region of metropolitan Bandung Raya

Housing estates development in the peri-urban area is often used as a solution to meet the needs of urban housing. In this case, the development of housing estates built by developers, are including housing units as well as the facilities and infrastructure. Based on this practice, then two opposite opinions emerge about the participation of developers in the development of housing infrastructure. The first opinion acknowledges that residential developers have assisted the government in providing settlement infrastructure. Meanwhile, the second opinion considers the infrastructure development undertaken by the residential developers has precisely caused inefficient regional infrastructure development. This study aims to examine the correlation between the development of housing estates and the development of regional infrastructure by using simple linear regression analyses, in order to prove whether there is a relationship between the two variables. This research was conducted at West Bandung Regency (Kabupaten Bandung Barat), one of the regency that located in peri-urban of Metropolitan Bandung Area. Two variables used in this study consist of the area of housing estates variable and the infrastructure development variable. The infrastructure development variable is represented by The IKG score (Geographic Difficulties Index). In this study, two different levels of the area were conducted to the examination, the village, and the subdistrict. The result of this examination shows that there is a weak correlation between the variables of the housing estates area and The IKG, even though its relationship is getting stronger when the test performed on a larger area. Based on this research, it can be said that the development of housing estates infrastructure in West Bandung Regency has a lack of significant effect on the regional infrastructure development.

KEMAMPUAN PEMAHAMAN MATEMATIS SISWA SMP DI BANDUNG BARAT

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze students' mathematical understanding ability. The research approach used is qualitative with an analytical descriptive method so that obtained the description of students' mathematical understanding ability. The instrument used is the test of mathematical understanding ability, interview guidance, and questionnaire that has been done validation. The test aims to obtain a picture of student error answers based on the scores obtained. Interview guide to obtain information about student's mistakes. Questionnaires to know students' interest in math. The subject of the research is the students of class VIII in one junior high school in Kabupaten Bandung Barat as many as 36 people. The results showed that students made a mistake in determining the characteristics of the rectangular building. Students cannot complete the calculation of area and around the rectangle correctly. The students' understanding of mathematical ability lies in the low criteria so that improvement needs to be made. Students who can solve mathematical comprehension problems enjoy math lessons. Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemahaman Matematis Siswa SMK Menggunakan Pendekatan Kontekstual Pada Materi SPLTV

This study aims to examine and analyze about contextual approach to improve understanding ability in senior high school Bakti Utama. The population in this research is XI grade senior high school in Bandung Barat. This study was designed qualitative descriptive method. Based on the results and discussion students understanding ability had improved.

Information Literacy in TBM Pengelolaan Lingkungan Cibungur

Literacy activities as a backbone of a library or a TBM to support the literacy goal as a lifelong learner. TBM also has activities to improve the quality of life with a variety of activities undertaken so as to create self-sufficiency of citizens and improve their quality of life through a variety of information literacy activities. One TBM contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the surrounding community is the TBM Pengelolaan Lingkungan Cibungur, Bandung Barat District, West Java, Indonesia with a variety of literacy activities. The purpose of this study was to determine how the activity of literacy in a community TBM. The research method used in this study is a qualitative case study approach. Data consists of interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this research indicate that the information literacy has run quite optimal even though the concept is not fully understood by TBM, but literacy programming in practice has been implemented with the aim of making the community in Cibungur can catch up with other regions with a wide range of activities in order to increase knowledge, skills and soft skills.

APPLICATION RECIPROCAL TEACHING IN BUILDING OF STUDENTS' MATHEMATICAL CONNECTIONS ABILITY

This research is motivated by the lack of connection capabilities junior high school students in Bandung West. This study will examine the achievement of matemati connection capabilities of students usinglearning reciprocalteaching with the usual approach. The method used is an experimental method to design pretest-posttest control group, ie design involving at least two groups and randomly sampling classes. At the beginning and end of the study both classes were given the test. The population in this sample is the entire junior high school students in Bandung West whose characteristics have a low ability mathematical connections. Of the entire junior high school in West Bandung randomly selected and elected SMP Negeri Bandung Barat representing the characteristics of the population. The sample was selected randomly, where class G into the experimental class VIII, and VIII F be the class of the control. Collecting data in this study using a test description that has been tested first, and then score the mathematical connection capabilities of students were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics using two different test average. Based on the results, good data analysis and hypothesis testing, with α = 0.05 mathematical connection capability turns the achievement of students usinglearning model reciprocal teaching is better than the students who used the usual approach

Penyuluhan Program Literasi Informasi Kesehatan dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Sanitasi bagi Masyarakat di Kaki Gunung Burangrang Kab. Bandung Barat

The ability of the community to access information needs is still uneven among urban people and rural communities. The ability to access information is an open door that must be open to be able to process and understand information, especially in this case is health information. Sanitation is one component of environmental health, a deliberate behavior to civilize a clean life to prevent humans directly touched with dirt and other hazardous waste materials, in the hope of maintaining and improving human health. Therefore, the authors perform Community Service activities entitled "Health Information Literacy Program Counseling in Improving the Quality of Sanitation for the Community at the foot of Mount Burangrang Kab. Bandung Barat."Community Service Activities has a purpose to produce outcomes, namely: 1) Provide concrete knowledge and insight about health information literacy in improving the quality of sanitation for people in West Bandung regency; 2) Providing comprehensive knowledge and insight about health information literacy in improving the quality of sanitation for people in West Bandung Regency.Method of PKM implementation conducted in this extension activity is ice breaking method; Workshop methods, lectures, and action studies. Penyuluhan Peran Kader Dalam Meningkatkan Literasi Kesehatan Masyarakat di Desa Cimanggu, Bandung Barat

CULTIVATION OF CADRE ROLE IN IMPROVING COMMUNITY HEALTH LITERATION IN CIMANGGU VILLAGE OF BANDUNG BARAT DISTRICT. Community Service Activities has the objective to produce outcomes, namely: 1) Providing concrete knowledge and insight on the counseling of the role of cadres in improving public health literacy in the village Cimanggu, Bandung Barat District; 2) Provide an understanding of the importance of the role of cadres in improving the public health literacy in Cimanggu village, District of Bandung Barat. The method of PKM implementation conducted in this training activity is method of lecture method; Group discussion methods; and video playback methods. The conclusions of this PKM activity are: (1) As a benchmark for Kader members in Cimanggu village to be able to increase public health literacy for better village development; (2) Awakening PKM participants on the importance of the role of Cadres in improving public health literacy; (3) Increasing awareness of PKM participants on the importance of increasing public health literacy in order to support the successful development of Cimanggu village.

Physical Land Suitability for Civet Arabica Coffee: Case Study of Bandung and West Bandung Regencies, Indonesia

Indonesia has been widely known as the best Arabica coffee (Coffea arabica) producer, in terms of both aspects, quality and number of product. Currently, its production, however, declines to the 3rd rank internationally. Issues emerged in the coffee cultivation are: land unsuitability, low quality of seeds, and poor management. Among Arabica coffee types, wild civet coffee is the most expensive one and harvested from the coffee beans which have been digested naturally. The study aims to determine the physical suitability of land as well as the constraints related to land for civet Arabica coffee in selected study cases, e.g., Bandung and Bandung Barat. The research methods employ multi-criteria analysis, and combined with weighted overlaying techniques for mapping. The criteria include temperature, rainfall, humidity, duration of dry season, slope, altitude, type of soil, soil texture, and erosion potential. Parameters of civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) are land use, altitude, and temperature. Local policy strongly supports the extensive management for land and the increase of coffee export. Processing data involved matching the comparison between guideline requirements for the land suitability classes, characteristics of Arabica coffee and civet habitat. The results covered the profile suitable land of the civet Arabica coffee in the study areas.

PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN OPEN-ENDED UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PENALARAN MATEMATIK SISWA SMP

AbstractThis study aims or determining whether the achievement and improvement of mathematical reasoning of junior high school students who learn using open-ended approach is better than using conventional learning. The research conducted was experimental research. The population in this study was all junior high school students in Kabupaten Bandung Barat. While the samples were taken two classes VIII from one grade, where class VIII B became experimental class and class VIII A became the control class . The instrument used in the research was in the form of five essay tests that measure students' mathematical reasoning. To know the improvement of student's mathematical reasoning before and after learning activity, normalized gain calculation was done, then data of pretest and postes result were processed by normality, homogeneity and difference average tests. Based on the analysis of the data resul processing in this study, it could be concluded that the achievement and improvement of mathematical reasoning among students who learn using open-ended approach was better than using conventional learning.Keywords: Open-Ended Approach, Mathematical Reasoning

Pengelolaan Penjernihan Air Sederhana Secara Mandiri Di Level Komunitas Teori Dan Praktik

PKM activity is based on the phenomenon of many people who do not get access to drinking water services (SPAM) in standard quality. The PKM Objects is a community in Cikole village Lembang district, Bandung Barat regency whose predominantly work as farmers and use raw water sources to fulfil their needs and even for drinking water direct from the surface water comes from mountain spring water, without the appropriate water treatment standards. The water from the source accommodated through the water reservoirs and then distributed by gravity directly to each home with simple piping systems, without going through the process of screening and testing the water quality in advance. Regarding quality, the water requires the filtering, especially during the rainy season. Therefore through the PKM activity of "The Training of Environmental Sanitation Management: Water Treatment” hopes that the people, besides the understanding the standard criteria of water quality, are also able to do the water treatment through screening models / simple water purification that can be done independently by the community. The PKM activity has involved several related institutions, starting at the level community such as RT, RW, Kadus, water management, Cikole village officials and Lembang district, Bandung Barat regency.

FROM STORYTELLING TO STORY WRITING: THE IMPLEMENTATION OF READING TO LEARN (R2L) PEDAGOGY TO TEACH ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN INDONESIA

It is widely acknowledged that the use of stories supports the development of literacy in the context of learning English as a first language. However, it seems that there are a few studies investigating this issue in the context of teaching and learning English as a foreign language. This action-oriented case study aims to enhance students’ written narrative achievement through a pedagogical intervention that incorporates oral story sharing activities. In this paper, the intervention will be briefly described and the preliminary findings from the students’ written texts will be presented. This study which was conducted in a lower secondary school in Bandung Barat region, Indonesia implemented the intervention within eight learning periods. The intervention comprised the following stages: (1) preparing before reading (stories), (2) detailed reading, (3) joint rewriting, and (4) individual rewriting. Before and after the intervention, students’ narrative texts were collected and analysed in terms of how each text achieved its purpose, how it moved through stages and phases of meaning, the control of field, relationship with the reader and its coherence. The preliminary findings indicate that there is a shift in students’ ability from writing fragmented and spoken-like language to more literate written narratives. It is expected that this study which implemented R2L pedagogy in the Indonesian context will contribute to English language teaching in EFL contexts.

­­­­­­Kemiripan dan Evaluasi Produksi Aksesi Kenikir (Cosmos caudatus Kunth.) dari Jawa Barat

ABSTRACT<br /><br />Kenikir (Cosmos caudatus Kunth.) is an Indonesian indigenous vegetable which is potential to be developed. Exploration conducted in Bogor, Sukabumi, Bandung, Bandung Barat, Subang, Garut, Majalengka, Kuningan, and Tasikmalaya had succesfully collected 20 accessions of Cosmos sp. The objectives of this study were to observe similarity and estimate the yield of Cosmos accessions from West Java. Clusters analysis grouped 20 Cosmos accessions into three clusters. Cluster I consisted of Pendeuy, Saribakti, Karang agung, Sindangbarang, Langensari, Perbawati, Sudajaya girang, Karang tengah, Argalingga, Warnasari, Sukaresmi, Ciwidey, Jalan cagak, Lebaksiuh, Tugu selatan, Ciwarak, Linggarjati and Babakan accessions. Cluster II and III consisted only one accession each which were Ciaruteun and Dramaga, respectively. Seven accessions from different sub cluster were evaluated to estimate the yield. A significant variability was found among the accessions. Results showed that those accessions were significantly different on plant height, stem girth, numbers of primary branches, number of leaf, leaves width, leaves length, days to flowering and yield. The results showed that Dramaga and Ciaruteun acessions were recomended to be developed because of its high yield. <br /><br />Keywords: characterization, cluster analysis, exploration

IDENTIFIKASI MOLEKULER BROAD BEAN WILT VIRUS 2 (BBWV2) DAN CYMBIDIUM MOSAIC VIRUS (CYMMV) ASAL TANAMAN NILAM (POGOSTEMON CABLIN BENTH.)

Molecular identification Broad Bean Wilt Virus 2 (BBWV2) and Cymbidium Mosaic Virus (CymMV) from patchouli plant (Pogostemon cablin Benth.). Several viruses have been reported to be associated with mosaic disease on patchouli plant in Indonesia. This study aims to identify the two viruses in patchouli cultivation in West Java by studying the molecular characterization. Mosaic symptomatic leaf samples taken from patchouli cultivation in Manoko (Bandung Barat District, West Java Province). RNA extraction was performed using Xprep Plant RNA mini kit. RNA amplification with RT-PCR technique using primers for the cp gene region of BBWV2 and CymMV. The PCR product was sent to PT. Science Genetics Indonesia to do sequencing, then analyzed nucleotide sequences. Results of RT-PCR were performed successfully obtained DNA bands with size accordance with the predictions of the primer design for BBWV2 and CymMV cp region. Further, based on nucleotide and amino acid sequence analyses, the two virus isolates were confirmed as BBWV2 and CymMV respectively. Phylogenetic analyses revealed that BBWV2 Manoko clustered with BBWV2 from Singapore (original host of Brazilian red-cloak), China (pepper) and South Korea (chili). Whereas, CymMV Manoko become one cluster with CymMV from India (Phaius sp.), Indonesia (Dendrobium), China (vanilla), Thailand (Oncidium), Hawai (Dendrobium) and South Korea Cymbidium).

The Effect of Motivation on Employee Performance in Biological Product Division of PT Medion Bandung Barat

This research was conducted at Biological Product Division of PT Medion Bandung Barat, aimed to determine correlation of motivation and employee performance, and also to analyze the effect of motivation on employee performance at Biological Product Division of PT Medion Bandung Barat. Respondents of this research were 45 people, selected with simple random sampling technique. The methods used were descriptive and associative, which tested the connection using the Spearman rank correlation analysis, and to determine the accuracy of measurement using the validity and reliability test. Results of the validity and reliability test of variables X and Y are valid and reliable. Calculations were performed using SPSS software version 19. The result of this study showed that motivation is in the category of good and employee performance is also in the category of good. Results showed the correlation of motivation with employee performance at Biological Product Division of PT Medion Bandung Barat with correlation coefficient of 0,568. Based on the criteria champion, this relationship is in the criteria of strong enough relationship. Results of this calculation showed the coefficient of determination is 32, 26%. It is showed that the hypothesis is proved that there is an influence of motivation to employee performance at Biological Product Division of PT Medion Bandung Barat.

Penerapan Learning Cycle 5e untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Koneksi dan Komunikasi Matematis Siswa

ABSTRACT The research was grounded by the results of previous research which showed that mathematical connection and communication ability students are not as expected. One of models learning for enhancing mathematical connection, communication ability is Learning cycle 5E (LC 5E). The purpose of this research is to comprehensively describe the enhancement of students’ mathematical connection & communication ability as a result of LC 5E. This research is a quasi-experiment study that applies two learning models: LC 5E and conventional learning. Population of this research is all student in SMP Negeri 3 Lembang, Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Sampling used by purposive sampling, VIII D and VIII E represent as sampling. Each class is grouped based on mathematical prior ability (MPA: upper, middle, lower levels). Research instruments are mathematical connection and comunication test. Data anaysis applies t-test, Mann-Whitney test, one way ANOVA test, and descriptive analysis. Data analysis is based on the whole students and level of MPA. The result obtained are: 1) the enhancement of students’ mathematical connection ability who were taught under LC 5E is better than those who were taught under conventional learning; 2) there is different enhancement mathematical connection ability who were taught under LC 5E learning based on MPA (upper, middle, lower levels); 3) the enhancement of students’ mathematical comunication ability who were taught under LC 5E is better than those who were taught under conventional learning; 4) there is different enhancement mathematical comunication ability who were taught under LC 5E learning based on MPA (upper, middle, lower levels) Keywords: Learning cycle 5E, mathematical connection ability and mathematical communication ability.

THE DYNAMIC IMMERSION SOFTWARE: TEACHING ENGLISH VOCABULARY FOR YOUNG LEARNERS

The ability in mastering vocabulary holds an important part in the process of learning a language including English. By analogy, English is a weapon whereas vocabulary is the bullet. It will be useless for someone who has a sophisticated weapon without having a great number of bullets. Hence, mastering vocabulary in a language is very important thus emerge techniques or method to master vocabulary. One of the teaching method is Dynamic Immersion Method (DIM). Therefore the purpose of this research is to analyze the process of mastering vocabulary using DIM applied in Rosetta Stone computer software, in one of Elementary schools in Cipatat, Kabupaten Bandung Barat and to know their perception toward the use of it. There are 21 students from the 4 th grade who become the participants of this research. In the process of collecting data, the writer uses observations and interview to see the process of using DIM and the students’ perception to the use of it and then analyzes elaborately based on the purpose of this research. . It was found that DIM in this study is considered successful because it enables students not only to memorize the words in English better but also to learn English vocabularies in meaningful context. The topic discussed in each slide is within the young learners’ world. Thus, the teaching of vocabulary in Dynamic Immersion software into certain extent is successful because the material might be interesting, the learning environment seems enjoyable, the period is relatively short and the material could attract young learners to learn vocabulary better. PENGARUH OBJEKTIVITAS DAN INTEGRITAS AUDITOR INTERNAL TERHADAP KUALITAS AUDIT

This research is aim to know the influence of objectivity and integrity of internal auditors towards the audit quality partially and simultaneously, whether it significantly affects or not towards the audit quality on Inspektorat Daerah of Kota Bandung, Kota Cimahi, Kabupaten Bandung, and Kabupaten Bandung Barat. The method used for this research is the descriptive method, and the analysis used is the multiple linear regression analysis. The sampling technique for this research is saturated sampling. The result of the research with 5% signification level shows that objectivity and integrity of internal auditors simultaneously influences the audit quality where the value F (91,837) > the table F (3,232), and objectivity of auditor partially influences significantly the audti quality where the value T (4,914) > the table T (2,021) as well as the integrity of auditor influences significantly the audit quality where the value T (10,721) is bigger than the table T (2,021).
