The Habit Of Dhuha Prayer In Shaping The Character Of Students At MTs An-Nur Pamekasan

This study examines the implementation of character education through the habit of Dhuha Prayer at MTs An-Nur Pamekasan. Character education plays an important role in shaping the nation's character and civilization, which is in line with the goal of national education, which is to educate the nation's life. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data is obtained through qualitative descriptive analysis by reducing data, presenting data to drawing data conclusions. Furthermore, the validity of the data was checked through triangulation techniques and using reference materials. The findings of the research are that the habit of Dhuha Prayer can provide character education value to students, create a school environment oriented to character development, students are also familiar with religious matters, discipline in any matter and responsible. And also several supporting factors in the form of teacher and parent motivation, student awareness and enthusiasm, as well as adequate facilities and infrastructure. There are also inhibiting factors, namely lack of time availability, lack of discipline and involving the family background of students who still have a minimal understanding of Islamic religious science.

Analytical Review of Awareness About Rare Diseases Among Sharjah University Students

Individuals with rare disabilities face several challenges, such as isolation, stigma, discrimination, and fewer educational and employment opportunities. Few studies have examined individuals’ knowledge regarding rare disabilities in the Emirati context. This study aimed to identify the level of awareness about rare diseases among Emirati students. A total sample of 200 students was recruited as participants from the University of Sharjah self-administrative questionnaire was distributed to collect primary data and to examine the level of general knowledge of rare diseases to identify the extent of Emirati society’s awareness of these disabilities and the necessary therapeutic interventions. Our findings revealed that the participants had low awareness of rare diseases in the Emirati context. Furthermore, statistically significant differences were found between the level of awareness of rare diseases and students’ specialization. We recommend that more field visits to be conducted to expose the students at the university with the institutions that care for people with rare disabilities.. Raising awareness around rare diseases and disabilities will help in integrating individuals with rare diseases into society. Although our study findings contribute to the literature on rare diseases and disabilities in the Emirati context, it also has important implications for policymakers.

The Concept of Ta'lim in the Qur'an and its Implementation Among Students of UIN Syahada Padangsidimpuan

The concept of ta'lim in the Qur'an emphasizes the importance of knowledge, understanding, and teaching for humanity, as reflected in various verses. This study investigates the concept of ta'lim in the Qur'an and its implementation among students at UIN Syahada Padangsidimpuan, focusing on both theoretical and practical aspects and their role in shaping student character. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through observations and interviews with relevant informants. The findings indicate that ta'lim, as understood by these students, involves the process of learning and teaching both religious and general knowledge in accordance with Islamic teachings. Implementation occurs through educational content that integrates theoretical knowledge with Islamic values. Supporting factors include an Islamic campus environment, the role of lecturers in integrating Islamic values into teaching, students' intentions to seek knowledge as worship, and policies emphasizing Islamic principles. However, challenges such as limited student awareness, negative environmental influences, and academic workload hinder implementation. Strategies to enhance ta'lim include strengthening the Islamic-based curriculum, improving teaching quality, fostering an Islamic campus environment, empowering student organizations, and using personal and motivational approaches. These efforts aim to foster students who embody both knowledge and Islamic values.

Microbiota awareness levels of medical students: the case of Trakya university

BackgroundHuman microbiota is noteworthy for its ability to encode a much greater variety and quantity of proteins than human cells. Despite its dynamic and complex nature, it has been associated with healthy living for over a century. The knowledge and attitudes of healthcare professionals, especially physicians, influence the use of pro-prebiotic interventions to modulate the microbiota. This study aimed to examine the awareness of medical students about the microbiota and the factors influencing their awareness.MethodsThe study was conducted between May 15 and August 15, 2023, with the participation of 235 medical students. The students were administered a 13-item questionnaire and the Microbiota Awareness Scale (MAS). The questionnaire and scale were administered face-to-face, and the results were statistically analyzed.ResultsThe students’ MAS total mean score was 70.34 ± 8.15. The MAS scores of medical students in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades who underwent clinical training, those who conducted research on microbiota independently, those who had previously used prebiotics/probiotics, and those who rated themselves highly on microbiota knowledge were statistically higher.ConclusionsThe study revealed that students’ awareness of the microbiota increased with advancing years of medical education, reaching a high level by the time of graduation. To enable future physicians to effectively communicate this knowledge to the public and incorporate it into clinical practice, it is crucial to provide comprehensive education on microbiota, probiotics, and prebiotics during medical training. Additionally, promoting scientific research and organizing activities in these areas are essential for fostering deeper understanding and practical application.

Awareness and Attitude Toward Artificial Intelligence Among Medical Students and Pathology Trainees: Survey Study.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is set to shape the future of medical practice. The perspective and understanding of medical students are critical for guiding the development of educational curricula and training. This study aims to assess and compare medical AI-related attitudes among medical students in general medicine and in one of the visually oriented fields (pathology), along with illuminating their anticipated role of AI in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-enhanced health care. This was a cross-sectional study that used a web-based survey composed of a closed-ended questionnaire. The survey addressed medical students at all educational levels across the 5 public medical schools, along with pathology residents in 4 residency programs in Jordan. A total of 394 respondents participated (328 medical students and 66 pathology residents). The majority of respondents (272/394, 69%) were already aware of AI and deep learning in medicine, mainly relying on websites for information on AI, while only 14% (56/394) were aware of AI through medical schools. There was a statistically significant difference in awareness among respondents who consider themselves tech experts compared with those who do not (P=.03). More than half of the respondents believed that AI could be used to diagnose diseases automatically (213/394, 54.1% agreement), with medical students agreeing more than pathology residents (P=.04). However, more than one-third expressed fear about recent AI developments (167/394, 42.4% agreed). Two-thirds of respondents disagreed that their medical schools had educated them about AI and its potential use (261/394, 66.2% disagreed), while 46.2% (182/394) expressed interest in learning about AI in medicine. In terms of pathology-specific questions, 75.4% (297/394) agreed that AI could be used to identify pathologies in slide examinations automatically. There was a significant difference between medical students and pathology residents in their agreement (P=.001). Overall, medical students and pathology trainees had similar responses. AI education should be introduced into medical school curricula to improve medical students' understanding and attitudes. Students agreed that they need to learn about AI's applications, potential hazards, and legal and ethical implications. This is the first study to analyze medical students' views and awareness of AI in Jordan, as well as the first to include pathology residents' perspectives. The findings are consistent with earlier research internationally. In comparison with prior research, these attitudes are similar in low-income and industrialized countries, highlighting the need for a global strategy to introduce AI instruction to medical students everywhere in this era of rapidly expanding technology.

Current level of rheumatology teaching amongst undergraduate medical students: a systematic literature review.

Data from the British Society of Rheumatology demonstrate a lack of exposure to rheumatology for medical students, potentially impacting career choice. We conducted a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on quantity, type and quality of rheumatology teaching for undergraduate medical students. This SLR was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42023472169). Articles published in English-language until February 2024 were included. Information was extracted on demographics, method(s) and hours for rheumatology teaching, and students' and educators' feedback, where reported. Eight cross-sectional studies were included, published between 1981 and 2024. Studies were conducted in UK (3); USA (2); Australia (1); Pan-European (1) and Uganda (1). Year of rheumatology teaching at medical school was reported in four studies (three UK; one USA). The three UK studies taught rheumatology in the latter years of study; in the USA study, rheumatology was taught every year. Duration of exposure to rheumatology was 15-96h per student. Reported teaching methods included lecture-based, rheumatology inpatient service, shadowing consultations and patient education. Student feedback was available in one (UK based) study- four students felt they had limited exposure to rheumatology; eight considered it "niche". Factors identified for poor exposure to rheumatology included lack of full-time rheumatologists on the school's faculty; lack of specialty training programmes in local hospitals; greater emphasis on acute specialties (e.g. emergency medicine). Exposure to and student awareness of clinical rheumatology has markedly decreased over time. Given the ageing population and increase in multimorbidity, there is a need to increase exposure and encourage entry to rheumatology training. Key Points • There are clear differences between the methods of rheumatology teaching between institutions and countries. • Teaching hours dedicated to undergraduate rheumatology education have overall markedly decreased over time, resulting in variable student awareness of the depth and breadth of this speciality. • The overall lack of exposure to rheumatology in undergraduate programmes has been associated with a lack of uptake of rheumatology as a career amongst medical students globally. • Our results indicate a need for a minimum required number of hours of teaching dedicated to rheumatology, delivered by specialists as well as a standardised undergraduate curriculum of competencies to better reflect the needs of our increasingly ageing and multimorbid population.

Speechreading ability is related to phonological awareness and reading comprehension in adults with hearing impairment in China

ABSTRACT We investigated whether phonological awareness mediated the relationship between speechreading and reading comprehension in Chinese adults with hearing impairment (HI) and normal hearing (NH). Speechreading, phonological awareness, and reading comprehension tests were administered to 154 young adults with HI and 97 young adults with NH in China. Results revealed significant correlations between speechreading, phonological awareness, and reading comprehension in adults with HI, but not those with NH. Phonological awareness did not mediate the relationship between speechreading and reading comprehension in either group of participants. These results suggest that visual speech information (speechreading) contributes to the development of phonological representations in adults with HI, which in turn supports reading comprehension. This relationship was not observed in the adults with NH. Teachers and clinicians working with HI students need to have an understanding of this difference, and take into account the developmental nature of the relationship between speechreadaing, phonological awareness and reading comprehension in the HI students for differentiated reading intervention. If attention to the visual speech information via speechreading indeed contributes to better phonological awareness, HI students may benefit from other visual methods to develop component skills that are foundational to reading success.

Metacognitive problem solving: exploration of students’ perspectives through the lens of multi-dimensional engagement

Solving chemical problems entails content knowledge and mastery of problem-solving processes. However, students sometimes lack metacognitive processes required for problem solving in chemistry. This study investigated how first-year chemistry students engaged with the metacognitive problem-solving scaffold Goldilocks Help. Data was collected from an activity, which involved students reflectively comparing their problem-solving attempts to an expert solution. These comparative reflections (N = 373) were thematically analysed to investigate scaffold engagement in three dimensions: cognitive, emotional, and behavioural. Findings showed that scaffold use, coupled with self-reflection, allowed students to identify flaws in their solutions that were either problem specific or related to their problem-solving skills. Students were able to propose improvement strategies, such as posing prompting questions to themselves and finding multiple alternatives for evaluating an answer. Students, who initially lacked structured problem-solving skills, found that scaffolding helped them to slow down metacognitive processes that would otherwise be rushed through or engaged with on a surface level. Students’ resistance to the scaffold was due to fear of making a mistake or viewing the scaffold as requiring extra time and effort. Within a semester, many students demonstrated an improvement in successful and structured problem solving but some required more practice to internalise the scaffold. Our findings also indicated that students’ reflections on problem solving became more sophisticated as a result of continued exposure to the scaffold and iterative opportunities to compare their work to expert solutions, to self-assess, and to reflect. Further research on reflective writing in chemistry education should focus on the ipsative nature of such assessments, i.e. processes focusing on students’ own progress, growth, and improvement, compared to their previous performance, while recognising the power relations operationalised in course-embedded reflections. From the teaching practice perspective, having an awareness of students’ thoughts, emotions, and actions can help instructors differentiate between levels of student capabilities, mindsets, and needs for extra support, allowing teaching efforts to be directed at promoting metacognitive and structured problem solving.

Towards sustainable practices: Evaluating student engagement in solid waste management at A’sharqiyah University, Oman

Mass consumption combined with urbanization causes massive waste production, contamination of the environment, and problems for public health. Over half of the sustainable development goals are addressed by tackling solid waste management (SWM) challenges. There are significant risks to the SWM in universities and higher education institutes due to students’ low understanding and involvement in waste segregation and recycling practices. Thus, this study assesses the level of awareness of students at A’Sharqiyah University, Oman, in terms of SWM practices and waste segregation. A quantitative research methodology using an online survey was applied. The survey collected information on demographic data, awareness and attitudes toward SWM, waste generation, and the ability to gain more knowledge about these practices through participation in awareness programs. Results show that 72.3% of students have knowledge of SWM practices. However, a concerning 33.65% lacked awareness or knowledge in this area. Furthermore, 78.6% of students expressed interest in participating in awareness programs to enhance their understanding of SWM. This study is considered a preliminary screening, and the next step will be the application of an extensive program for all students and following up about solid waste disposal and segregation methods in students’ hostels.

This study aims to assess the level of student readiness in facing and adapting green technology at Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic. Green technology, which refers to technologies that minimize negative environmental impacts, is gaining attention as a solution to the challenges of climate change and the depletion of natural resources. However, the effectiveness of implementing this technology requires a high level of readiness from all parties, including students. Some of the main issues related to green technology that need attention include awareness, access, and institutional support. Although green technology is recognized as important, the level of awareness and understanding among students is still low. This is because students may not realize the importance of green technology in their daily lives or future careers. Moreover, students' attitudes towards green technology are sometimes mixed. Some students see it as difficult or require a large investment. Such attitudes may stem from a lack of emphasis on the long-term benefits of green technology to the economy, environment, and society. This study uses a quantitative approach through the distribution of questionnaires to 71 students from Semester Five (5) of the Diploma in Business Studies and Semester Four (4) of the Diploma in Material Measurement at Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic. The questionnaire covers aspects of students' knowledge, attitudes, practices, and awareness of green technology. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the level of student readiness. The results show that students at Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic have good knowledge, attitudes, and awareness regarding green technology. However, there is a slight lack of actual practice of green technology in their daily lives. Therefore, this study suggests that higher education institutions strengthen curricula related to green technology, provide more opportunities for student involvement in green technology programs, and increase awareness through educational campaigns. It is hoped that this recommendation will increase the level of student readiness and facilitate the transition to the wider use of green technology in the future.

Examination of Environmental Awareness of Students Studying in Landscape Architecture Departments

The discipline of landscape architecture plays an important role in many environmental issues such as increasing green areas in urban areas, supporting biodiversity, and managing water resources. This study was conducted to determine the environmental awareness levels of landscape architecture students in Turkey and to understand how educational programs affect this awareness. In the study, first of all, all universities and faculties providing undergraduate landscape architecture education in Turkey were examined, and then landscape architecture departments in different universities and faculties were included in the scope of the research. Surveys were administered to students studying in the landscape architecture departments of the specified faculties to measure their environmental awareness levels. In addition, it was analyzed how the courses taken by landscape architecture students affected their environmental awareness. Thus, effective strategies were developed and suggestions were presented to increase environmental awareness in landscape architecture education.

This article is devoted to the study of the level of competence of students of 4 universities of Krasnodar in relation to food poisoning caused by staphylococcal toxin. The work analyzes the awareness of students about the etiology, manifestation of the disease and prevention of this food poisoning. As is known, there is a certain correlation between non-compliance with the principles of rational nutrition among students, including the consumption of products with an indefinite shelf life and/or improper storage conditions, and an increased risk of staphylococcal toxicosis. Due to the increased academic load, the intensity of the educational process, and small breaks between academic classes, university students lack time for a full meal. In this regard, they can eat in public catering establishments that potentially do not fully comply with sanitary and epidemiological requirements and technological regulations for food production, which may pose a threat to their health. It should also be noted that the low degree of sanitary and hygienic education among students is one of the significant factors that determine the relevance of the problem of staphylococcal toxicosis among students. According to the results of the survey, deficiencies in students' knowledge were identified and the most vulnerable groups were identified. The results of the survey confirm the demand for preventive activities aimed at improving the awareness of university students about staphylococcal toxicosis.

Leadership Styles and the Level of Skills Awareness among Student Leaders at a State University

Leadership plays a crucial role in creating a vision, pursuing a mission, and establishing organizational strategies. People express their leadership styles in various ways. A leader's effectiveness is defined by their performance in directing and influencing activities to achieve objectives (Dabke, 2016). This quantitative study investigated the relationship between leadership styles and skills awareness among student leaders at a state university. Utilizing a structured questionnaire, the study examined four definite leadership styles: Authoritative, Democratic, Facilitative, and Situational, alongside an extensive Skills Awareness Scale. A purposive sample of 43 student leaders, primarily under the age of 23, were included in the study. Of these, 61.9 % were female and 38.1 % were male. To examine the relationships between skill awareness and leadership methods, data were gathered and analyzed using ANOVA, multiple regression, chi-square tests, and descriptive statistics. The results of the study showed a moderate level of general skills awareness (mean = 3.341), suggesting a considerable amount of room for skill development. Although student leaders showed flexibility to many leadership styles, the authoritative approach stood out as uniquely significant. Students with more authoritative tendencies are likely to have better skills awareness, according to a statistically significant link between skills awareness and authoritative leadership (r = 0.318, p .040). No statistically significant differences in leadership styles were found by the one-way ANOVA test (p =.193), suggesting that student leaders take a flexible, nuanced approach rather than rigidly following one leadership styles. With the exception of the authoritative style, the Kruskal-Wallis test further demonstrated that leadership styles do not substantially alter levels of skill awareness. These results highlight the value of focused leadership development initiatives that support student leaders in developing their skills, especially in establishing authoritative leadership traits. The study advances knowledge of the intricate relationships between developing student leaders' leadership styles and skill awareness.

This research aims to provide political education to students at SMAS Budi Satrya ahead of the 2024 Regional Elections. The problem in this study is that the political participation of novice voters in elections and regional elections is still low. This is due to the limited knowledge they have about elections/regional elections. Therefore, political education is needed for novice voters to increase their political participation. This political education is expected to increase the political awareness of students to participate in the Regional Election process. Data collection techniques are carried out by interviews and observations. Data validation is carried out by data triangulation. The results of this study show that political education has an impact on the knowledge and interest of students of SMAS Budi Satrya Pilkada.

Counseling on the Prevention of Early Marriage in Adolescents at Smpn 5 Praya Timur

Child marriage among teenagers has become a serious social issue, particularly in Central Lombok Regency. This phenomenon shows a tendency for teenagers to opt for marriage at a young age rather than continuing their education, which brings negative impacts on health, education, and socio-economic welfare. According to data from BKKBN NTB, in 2015, West Nusa Tenggara had the second-highest rate of child marriage in Indonesia, with a percentage of 5.81%. Despite government regulations aimed at preventing early marriage, their implementation has been less than optimal. SMP Negeri 5 Praya Timur, located in Beleke Lebe Sane Village, East Praya District, Central Lombok Regency, faces this issue directly, with many students deciding to leave school to marry at an early age. A lack of understanding regarding the negative impacts of early marriage, particularly related to reproductive health and education, is one of the primary causes of this phenomenon. The community service activity conducted at SMP Negeri 5 Praya Timur aimed to provide comprehensive counseling to students about the dangers of early marriage and the importance of continuing education to higher levels. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which involved active participation of students in understanding issues related to early marriage. This counseling was expected to raise student awareness about the risks of early marriage and motivate them to pursue further education. The results of this activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the negative impacts of early marriage and the importance of education as a path to a better future.
