The spatial implications of academic achievement in Year 12: Rethinking discourses of disadvantage in rural locations

Rurality is an identified point of disadvantage in measures such as the Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA) and school resourcing models. However, socioeconomic disadvantage is commonly used as an explanation for lower average student achievement in rural locations. Thus, policies are often directed towards reducing disadvantage associated with socioeconomic status, and rurality is overlooked. This research tests the validity of these assumptions using a matched study approach. We examine data on New South Wales (NSW) students, schools and courses to investigate how the English and Mathematics achievement levels of students in their final year of secondary school are associated with family and school characteristics across locations. The findings show that socioeconomic variation does not fully account for differences in achievement in rural locations. Instead, rurality appears to mediate other effects on student achievement in a complex interplay of factors contributing to lower average results. This highlights the need to consider the specificities of rurality in schooling, particularly the role of rural knowledges and perspectives in schooling and student achievement.

Effectiveness of Discovery Learning Model Based on Team Games Tournament Assisted with Thematic English Media on Learning Achievement

Learning achievement in learning is very important because the success of learning carried out in teaching and learning activities can be seen from student learning outcomes. Learning achievement is the result achieved by students or someone after carrying out learning activities. Thematic learning achievements at SD N 1 Patukangan class IV in 2018/2019 still vary widely. Not all students' Thematic learning outcomes are high or good. There are several Thematic learning achievements that are unsatisfactory. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using the discovery learning model based on team games tournaments assisted by thematic workshop media on student achievement in class IV SD N 1 Patukangan. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental method with a research design using Nonequivalent [Pre-Test and Post-Test] Control Groups Design (NCGD). The results showed that the experimental class mean was 82.50, while the control class showed a result of 71.09. This shown that the average learning achievement of students in the experimental class is higher than the average learning achievement of students in the control class. The n-gain results in the experimental class show moderate criteria with an average gain of 0.45 while those in the control class show moderate criteria with an average of 0.30. This shows that there is the effectiveness of the discovery learning model based on team games tournament assisted by thematic workshop media on student achievement. IMPROVING LEARNING ACHIEVEMENT THROUGH INTERPERSONAL INTELLIGENCE AND SELF-REGULATED LEARNING

The material in accounting computer lessons utilizes technology used to present problems to students. Thus, generating differences in student achievement based on various factors. To see the effect of interpersonal intelligence and self-regulated learning on student achievement. This study uses a survey method based on a quantitative approach. The Affordable population of this study is the eleventh-grade students in the Department of financial accounting SMKN Jakarta with 174 students. Simple random sampling is used as a sampling technique. The sample was taken randomly without certain criteria so that students who have high or low achievement can be a research sample. Known results of the average (mean) student achievement in this study into Category B (Good). Furthermore, students who have interpersonal intelligence and self-regulated learning are in the “low” category and the “high” category. In this study, teachers as educators in schools can guide and train students ' social relationships by forming study groups regularly so that students can improve interpersonal relationships with other students, besides that students can understand each other's learning needs to form learning strategies that will produce learning goals to be achieved. The findings of this study stated that there is a relationship between computer accounting learning achievement of vocational school students with interpersonal intelligence and self-regulated learning positively.

EFEKTIVITAS PENGGUNAAN PHET SEBAGAI MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN FISIKA UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PENGUASAAN MATERI FLUIDA STATIS

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using PhET as a medium for learning physics to increase mastery of inert fluid material for students in class X State High School 4 spooky eastern part. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative with a research design that is a one-group pretest and posttest. This research was conducted with a population of students of class X IPA at SMA Negeri 4 SBT. The sample of class X IPA-1 was 21 students who were taken at random. The data in this study were collected through test and non-test instruments, test instruments in the form of pretest and posttest, and non-test test instruments in the form of student worksheets (LKPD). The results showed that in the initial test, 100% of students failed the qualification, with an average achievement score of 7.83. The maximum achievement score is 25.8, while the minimum is 1.72. The results of the analysis of cognitive aspects during the learning process using PhET as a learning medium showed that the average student achievement score was 92.23, which was an excellent qualification. These results are collected based on completing the questions in the LKPD. The ability of students to learn shows a change. The average score of the student's final test achievement reached 91.17, which was an excellent qualification. For the N-Gain test, results obtained 0.8, which is in the high category. In the effectiveness test that the results of the calculation of the t-count 48.45 and t-table 2.080 with a significant level of 5%, the t-count value is 48.45 > t-table 2,080 where 21 students (100%) are declared effective. Thus it can be concluded that the use of PhET as a practical physics learning media to improve students' mastery of static fluid material class X State High School 4 SBT

Peningkatan Prestasi Belajar Melalui Model Pembelajaran Think Pairs Share (TPS) Pada Mata Pelajaran IPA Kelas IV SDN Tirtosari, Magelang

The purpose of this study was to improve science learning achievement using the Think Pairs Share (TPS) learning model for class IV at SD N Tirtosari. This study uses PTK method. Data collection techniques with interviews, observations, field notes, and tests. Sources of data are teachers and students as research subjects. The data analysis technique is descriptively taken from the average achievement score and the percentage of student completeness. Based on the research, it was concluded that the use of the TPS learning model could improve the learning achievement of fourth grade students at SD N Tirtosari. In the pre-action the average student achievement was 69.28 with a completeness percentage of 42.85%, in cycle I it increased from 5.86 to 75.14 with a completeness percentage of 57.14% because it was not in accordance with the percentage of success then proceed to cycle II . In cycle II there was an average increase of 11.71 so that the average student achievement was 86.85 with a completeness percentage of 100%. From this description it can be seen that there has been an increase from the pre-action stage, cycle I to cycle II.

Application Of Snowball Throwing Model Learning To Improve Social Studies Learning Outcomes For Class Vi Students At SD Negeri 0807 Tanjung Baru

This research is motivated by the low student learning outcomes in social studies subjects. This happens because the teacher does not use a different learning model and does not use the potential of students to provide material, and students are less cooperative in their learning. This research uses qualitative and quantitative methods. The results of the study increased the assessment of lesson plans from 81% to 97%, teacher ratings from 82% to 97%, and student ratings from 75% to 95%. The average academic achievement of students ranged from 72 to 86. It was concluded that the snowball throwing model improved the social studies learning achievement of 6th graders at SD Negeri 0807 Tanjung Baru

Hybrid and Collaborative Networks Approach: Online Learning Integrated Project and Kolb Learning Style in Mechanical Engineering Courses

Engineering education is very important to prepare quality graduates. An alternative hybrid and collaborative networks approach in learning is the current choice. This study aims to explain the online learning integrated project and Kolb learning style in mechanical engineering courses to enhance students' academic achievement which is implemented through a hybrid and collaborative networks approach. The research method used is a quantitative approach with the posttest control group design method. We carry out learning activities using Project and Kolb Learning on higher education students from Mechanical Engineering Education who take part in learning this project. Students who participate are limited to small groups, which are divided according to their learning styles groups, and the implementation is carried out in a hybrid and collaborative through e-learning and face-to-face. Collecting data using Kolb Learning Styles Inventory, and achievement test. While the data analysis used descriptive analysis and one-way Anova with the help of SPSS software. The results of this study indicate that there is a difference in the average academic achievement of students based on the four learning style groups, and the thinker learning style group has the highest average academic achievement among the four. The selection of appropriate learning styles and learning models has an impact on optimal and effective academic achievement.

The substantiveness of socioeconomic school compositional effects in Australia: measurement error and the relationship with academic composition

This study examines the effect of school socioeconomic composition on student achievement growth in Australian schooling, and its relationship with academic composition utilising the National Assessment Program—Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) dataset. Previous research has found that school composition predicts a range of schooling outcomes. A critique of school compositional research has been that measurement error may have biased findings of compositional effects. Prior studies have found that socioeconomic compositional effect sizes are small when models include academic composition. The relationship between socioeconomic and academic compositions has yet to be fully determined. Multi-level regressions and structural equation models were compared to estimate the degree of bias in socioeconomic compositional effects due to measurement error. Multi-level path models were used to test if academic composition mediated the relationship between socioeconomic composition and achievement growth. The results showed that measurement error did not bias compositional effects in the dataset, and academic composition mediates the relationship between socioeconomic composition and achievement growth. We argue that school value-add research should include academic composition to account for contextual effects. The socioeconomic compositional effect is of practical significance to policy makers and educational researchers due to its relative size compared to average student achievement growth. Potential reforms include ensuring public subsidies to private schools in Australia do not increase school segregation and the amelioration of the effects of residential segregation through school funding reforms.

Teacher-to-Classroom Assignment and Student Achievement

We study the effects of counterfactual teacher-to-classroom assignments on average student achievement in U.S. elementary and middle schools. We use the Measures of Effective Teaching (MET) experiment to semiparametrically identify the average reallocation effects (AREs) of such assignments. Our identification strategy exploits the random assignment of teachers to classrooms in MET schools. To account for noncompliance of some students and teachers to the random assignment, we develop and implement a semiparametric instrumental variables estimator. We find that changes in within-district teacher assignments could have appreciable effects on student achievement. Unlike policies that aim at changing the pool of teachers (e.g., teacher tenure policies or class-size reduction measures), alternative teacher-to-classroom assignments do not require that districts hire new teachers or lay off existing ones; they raise student achievement through a more efficient deployment of existing teachers.

Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Role Playing dalam Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa pada Materi Pernikahan dalam Tinjauan Hukum Islam Siswa Kelas XII MIPA 1 SMA NEGERI 2 Sigli Tahun Ajaran 2020/2021

This classroom action reseach aims to: (1) determine the improvement of student learning outcomes; (2) knowing teacher activities, dan (3) knowing student activities in applying the role playing learning model to marriage material in a review of Islamic law in class XII MIPA 1, with the focus of the reseach on increasing student achievement on the subject of marriage in a review of Islamic law by applying the role playing learning model. The reseach design used is Classroom Action Reseach, which is carried out in an integrated and systemic manner in stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Int the first cyclye, the average student learning outcomes on the subject of marriage in the Islamic law review was 56% with a sufficient category. In the second cycle the average student achievement on the subject of marriage in the Islamic law review was 86% with a good category. The increase in the average score of students in the subject of marriage in Islamic law review is 86%-56%=30%. Thus, the result of this study indicate that the application of the role playing learning model can improve student learning outcomes on marriage in the Islamic law review class XII MIPA 1 at SMAN 2 Sigli in the 2021/2022 academic year.

Application E-Learning Based on Cloud Computing at the Faculty of Engineering, Batam University

The development of information technology and the increasingly widespread use of the internet has changed the learning process in higher education, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, many higher education are conducting distance learning processes by implementing cloud computing-based e-learning. This is also in line with the government's recommendation that we apply health protocols to break the chain of the Covid-19 virus, such as studying and working from home. Batam University, in this case, the engineering faculty, includes those implementing cloud computing-based e-learning for distance learning The purpose of this research is to see how far the implementation of e-learning based on cloud computing according to users, in this case, are lecturers and students of the engineering faculty of Batam University, knowing the readiness of lecturers and students towards the process and products of e-learning itself and satisfaction from the lecturers and students. at the University of Batam at the engineering faculty during the e-learning implementation process. This research method uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods by distributing questionnaires to lecturers and students in the university environment at the engineering faculty which consists of 4 (four) study programs namely mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, and information systems After processing the data using the validity test, reliability test and qualitative analysis, it was obtained that the lecturer respondents agreed with the implementation of cloud computing-based e-learning by 41%, with an average Respondent Achievement Level (TCR) of lecturers of 81.82% in good category. Student respondents' answers strongly agree with the implementation of e-learning based on cloud computing of 44 with an average Student Achievement Level of Respondents (TCR) of 80.47% in good category.

Profile Analysis of Students' Problem-Solving Abilities on Impulse-Momentum Physics Material

The potential possessed by students is not only contextual. However, it must be comprehensive and essentially understand the concept of science. Based on the results of a preliminary study conducted at SMAN 2 Garut using interview techniques with Physics teachers, it was revealed that students' learning in schools had implemented various learning models. The achievement of learning outcomes from each learning model is different depending on how the implementation of the learning model is carried out by adjusting the appropriate learning materials. Characteristics of students who are different in the class cause various student responses to differ from the learning model. The average student learning achievement in the aspect of problem-solving at the school for physics is 22% overall. The learning model will be judged appropriate for the material if, in the delivery of learning materials, students can achieve appropriate learning objectives and with certain aspects of the learning component by using indicators of achievement of certain aspects. Students' problem-solving ability in learning Physics subjects has difficulty because students' understanding of learning materials is only theoretical and focused on problem-solving through various formulas or equations in Physics learning materials. Initiating learning with various active learning models with various stimuli and involving student participation makes it easier for students to understand learning materials. The highest answer analysis on problem description questions is 26.5625% with the lowest and lowest criteria on the assessment of the logical procession aspect of 12% which represents the student's problem ability profile is still low on this material.

Implementation and evaluation of a B-Learning modality in an undergraduate Obstetrics and Gynecology course for medical students

Introduction: The Medicine career at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile has undergone subsequent adjustments in its study plan. In this context, the theoretical-practical course of Obstetrics and Gynecology changed according to current paradigms in Medical Education. This research aims to describe the implementation and evaluation (student satisfaction and learning) of a blended learning (B-Learning modality) course in Obstetrics and Gynecology for medical students. Methods: A retrospective and descriptive design was used. Student satisfaction and learning was analized comparing the B-Learning to the face-to-face teaching previously used. Results: Students with the B-Learning modality reported dedicating more time to the course, better achievement of learning outcomes, and better perception of assessment and feedback. The average achievement of students with the B-Learning modality was slightly lower than that of other students; however, they demonstrated better performance on more complex assessment questions. Student satisfaction with the learning process was higher for B-Learning than face-to-face classes. Conclusions: B-Learning students had a similar level of learning attainment compared with the face-to-face modality but showed better performance on assessment questions that required a higher level of integration. This information is vitally important in the context of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, as much medical education has had to be carried out remotely during this time.

Pengembangan Cerita Rakyat Aceh Berbasis Literasi di MTsN 1 Lhokseumawe

Learning success is influenced by many factors. Generally, everything relies on the teacher's competency factor. It is natural that teacher professionalism is now highly demanded in order to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. One of the teacher competencies required in his profession is to prepare to learn well and mature. most teachers enter the class without careful preparation. Even if there is a Learning Implementation Plan (RPP), it is not homemade but photocopying from another teacher/person or from the internet. The main capital of the teacher enters the class using textbooks or worksheets written by others. This requires training for teachers in the preparation of teaching materials. The purpose of this study was to develop literacy-based folklore teaching materials (reviewed based on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills) for class VII students of MTsN 1 in Lhokseumawe City. The results of the study stated that the validity of the developed learning devices included in the valid category with an average value of RPP validity of 4.03, teaching material 4.12, LKS of 4.42, and items was in the valid category. Learning tools developed through literacy folklore materials based on Aceh have met the effective criteria. Effective criteria viewed from: (1) student learning completeness classically has reached 87% in trial II; (2) achievement of learning objectives of at least 75%; (3) achievement of learning time is at least the same as ordinary learning. Increasing student literacy using Aceh folklore teaching materials on the material is the average student achievement in the first trial of 69 increased to 87 in the second trial, on average each student indicator increased from the trial I to trial II. Students have met the completeness criteria in a classical manner. This is due to the material and problems that exist in teaching materials and worksheets developed according to the conditions of the student's learning environment and referring to literacy. By applying literacy, students will be actively involved in the process of completing Indonesian language material. Theoretically, the learning time used during learning using literacy has met the effectiveness criteria. By using teaching materials, students are first given questions in writing, so that from these problems students can think, observe, make guesses, explain, and analyze to knowledge with the guidance of the teacher.

Comparative Analysis of Prospective Physics Teachers’ Learning Achievement in Terms of Cognitive Style (Field Dependent and Field Independent)

This study aims to determine the comparison of student achievement with field-dependent (FD) and field-independent (FI) cognitive styles. The method used in this research is a comparative descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 30 prospective physics teacher students who were studying at the University of Mataram. Research data were taken using the Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT) and documentation of the study result card (SRC). GEFT is used to determine cognitive style while documentation is used to determine the cumulative achievement index (CAI) of students. Based on the results of the t-test at the 95% confidence level (α = 0.05) with the degree of independence (dk = 2= 28), it shows that there are significant differences in learning achievement between FI and FD students. The average learning achievement of FI students (CAI = 3.15) tends to be better than that of FD students (CAI = 3.37).

Development of Mathematics Learning Devices with Problem Based Learning Model to Improve Student's Mathematical Connection Ability

This study aims to: (1) analyze how the validity, practicality and effectiveness of learning tools developed through problem based learning models in algebra in class VII SMP Negeri 4 Tarutng; 2) analyze how to increase mathematical connection skills after using learning tools developed through algebraic material models in class VII SMP Negeri 4 Tarutung. This research is categorized into Development Research using the Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel learning device development model, namely the 4-D model (Four D Model). This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 4 Tarutung which is one of the junior high schools in Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra Province. The subjects in this study were grade VII students of SMP Negeri 4 Tarutung, namely grades VII-A and VII-B in the 2021/2022 academic year. The results of the study show that: (1) learning devices with Problem Based Learning are included in the valid, practical and effective categories; (2) The improvement of students' mathematical connection abilities after using the problem based learning model on algebraic material based on the average achievement of students' mathematical connection abilities based on the posttest results of the first trial was 77.75, increasing to 82.25 in the second trial. Thus, there was an increase in the average score of students' connection abilities of 4.5. CONVERSATION TEXT ON INDONESIAN LESSONS USING IMAGES IN CLASS V STATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 101938 ADOLINA, PERBAUNGAN DISTRICT

Many educators still use conventional teaching materials, namely teaching materials that are ready to use, just buy, instant, without the effort of planning, preparing, and compiling their own and less attracting children's attention in learning. So the image media is used as a development effort in learning Indonesian. This study aims to determine the quality of teaching materials based on the validation of material experts and media experts, to determine the attractiveness of teaching materials based on student responses, and to determine the average increase in student achievement based on pretest and posttest scores. This research was carried out at SDN 101938 Adolina, Perbaungan District, for the 2021-2022 academic year. This research is development research. The subjects of the study were the fifth grade students of SDN 101938 Adolina, Perbaungan District, for the academic year 2021-2022 with a total of 36 students. Data collection techniques used are tests, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is the percentage and the average. The results of the overall quality of teaching materials are good with a percentage of 78%. The results of the attractiveness of teaching materials based on student responses in the limited trial obtained a percentage of 87% with a very interesting category, while in the large group trial a percentage of 85% was obtained with a very attractive category. The average value of the pretest is 6.09, while the average value of the posttest is 8.44, so it can be concluded that there is an increase in the average student achievement.

PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE NUMBER HEAD TOGETHER UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR TEMATIK TERPADU TEMA BERBAGAI PEKERJAAN

This study aims to determine whether the application of Number Head Together type of cooperative learning can improve Integrated Thematic Learning Outcomes on the Theme of Various Jobs for Fourth Grade Students of UPTD SD Negeri 136 Barru in Semester One of the Academic Year 2021/2022. The subjects in this study were 23 fourth grade students. The indicator of research success is an increase in students' ability to understand the themes of various jobs which can be seen in the final grades in each cycle where the average student achievement increases. After taking action in the form of implementing cooperative learning with the Number Head Together type, the average final score in the first cycle was 83.3 or in the good category and an increase in the second cycle was 85.3 where 78.26% of students reached the very good category, 21.74% of students achieved good category. The results showed that the application of Number Head Together type of cooperative learning can improve the Integrated Thematic Learning Outcomes in Various Jobs for the fourth grade students of UPTD SD Negeri 136 Barru.

Development of Learning Model Based on Discovery Learning Assisted by Geogebra Applet to Improve Students' Creative Thinking Ability

This study aims to: (1) To find out validity, practicality and effectiveness of the Geogebra Applet-Assisted Discovery Learning-Based Learning Model which was developed to determine students' creative thinking abilities; (2) To find out the improvement of students' creative thinking skills by developing a Geogebra Applet-Assisted Discovery Learning-Based Learning Model. This research is a development research or development research. The development of the Geogebra Applet-Assisted Discovery Learning-Based Learning Model was carried out following the development stages as a result of the modification of the development model proposed by Plomp. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Kutapanjang, Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh Province. The subjects of this study were students of class VII-1 and VII-2, totaling 25 students. The results showed that: (1) Geogebra Applet-Assisted Discovery Learning-Based Learning Model was categorized as valid, practical and effective; (2) The improvement of students' creative thinking skills after using the Geogebra Applet-Assisted Discovery Learning-Based Learning Model on the rectangular flat shape material is the average achievement of students' creative thinking abilities from trial I to trial II, from 74.72 to 80.4.
