THE EFFECT OF USING QUIZIZZ APPLICATION AS AN ENGLISH LEARNING EXERCISE IN VOCABULARY MASTERY

This study aims to examine the impact of the Quizizz application on vocabulary mastery as part of English learning exercises among tenth-grade students at SMK Negeri 2 Panyabungan, focusing on recount text topics. It addresses challenges such as limited vocabulary mastery, low motivation and interest in learning English, and insufficient opportunities for practice. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed, involving experimental and control classes. Data collection included pre-tests, treatments, and post-tests using 20 multiple-choice questions on recount texts. The findings revealed that the experimental class, which used Quizizz, had a higher average post-test score (82) compared to the control class (67.5). Data analysis using the t-test showed a t-count of 4.965 and a sig. tailed (p) score of 0.001, with α = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (df) = 19. Since p < α (0.001 < 0.05), the alternative hypothesis was accepted, and the null hypothesis was rejected. These results indicate that using the Quizizz application significantly enhances students’ vocabulary mastery compared to traditional teaching methods. The study highlights the effectiveness of Quizizz in addressing vocabulary and engagement issues in English learning.

The Effect of Discovery Learning Model Assisted by PhET Media on The Critical Thinking Ability of Class X High School Students

This study aims to determine the effect of the discovery learning model assisted by PhET media on Alternative Energy material on the critical thinking skills of class X high school students in Cirebon city of 2024/2025 year. This type of research is a kuasi experiment. The research sample was an experimental class of 34 students and control class of 32 students with purposive sampling technique. The instrument was a student critical thinking skills test with the form of essay questions and has been validated by experts. In addition, based on the results of statistical tests, the instrument was declared valid and reliable with a value of 0.676. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 87 and the control class posttest was 81. The prerequisite test results stated that the samples were normally distributed and homogeneous. In addition, an independent t-test was conducted with a result of 0.002. These results indicate that there is a significant effect of the discovery learning model assisted by PhET media on Alternative Energy material for X grade high school students.

Eksplorasi Data Sains dalam Pendidikan: Membuka Wawasan Baru untuk Siswa SMA

Data science literacy is an important skill in the digital era, but high school students' understanding of this concept is still limited. This study aims to improve students' data science literacy through interactively designed training, including theory delivery and discussion sessions. This study was conducted in Surabaya involving 32 students from five partner schools. The research instruments included a pre-training questionnaire to measure the level of initial understanding, training materials in the form of presentations and educational case studies, and a post-training questionnaire to evaluate the results. The analysis was carried out quantitatively based on the results of the pre-test and post-test, and qualitatively through observation and discussion. The results showed a significant increase in student understanding, with the average post-test score increasing from 45% to 80%. Positive responses from students and teachers indicated that the case study-based training approach was relevant and effective. However, obstacles such as differences in student understanding levels and limited training duration were obstacles to implementation in maximizing knowledge for participants.

The Effect of Using Picture Word Card Media on the Beginning Reading Ability of Class 1 Students at SDN Inpres 2 Tangga

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of using picture word card media on the initial reading ability of class I students at SDN Inpres 2 Tangga. This type of research is experimental research, the research design used is Pre_Experimental Design with the One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design model. The data collection techniques used in this research are tests, observation and documentation. Data analysis uses descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The subjects in this research were class I students at SDN Inpres 2 Tangga, totaling 14 students consisting of 10 boys and 4 girls. The research results show that the average pretest score is 45.3571 and the average posttest score is 69.6429. This shows that there is an influence on the initial reading ability of class I students at SDN Inpres 2 Tangga and the results of the Paired Sample hypothesis test show that the significance value of 0.001 is smaller than 0.05, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. "There is an influence of the use of picture word cards on ability beginning reading for class I students at SDN Inpres 2 Tangga."

Pengaruh Metode Talking Stick Berbantuan Audio Visual terhadap Maharah Kalam

This study aims to examine the implementation of the talking stick method supported by audio-visual media in improving the maharah kalam (speaking skills) of seventh-grade students at MTsN 2 Kota Blitar. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, the study involved 35 students from class VII-A as the experimental group and 35 students from class VII-B as the control group. Research instruments included observation, tests, and documentation, with data analysis conducted through normality tests, homogeneity tests, and independent sample t-tests. The findings revealed that the average post-test score of the experimental group (81.4) was higher than that of the control group (77.2), with a t-value of 3.695 and a significance level of p = 0.001. These results indicate a significant difference between the two groups, leading to the conclusion that the talking stick method supported by audio-visual media positively influences students’ maharah kalam skills.

Optimizing Clinical Reasoning: Unpacking the Impact of Virtual Patient Educational Duration in Cancer Care and Nursing Students’ Experiences

Background: Teaching clinical reasoning to nursing students is essential for professionalizing and improving cancer patient care. This study investigates how training duration with Virtual Patients (VPs) impacts clinical reasoning and learners’ evaluation of their experiences. Materials and Methods: The present semi-experimental study was conducted with a pretest–post-test design and a control group. Through the census sampling method, 74 nursing students from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Iran, (in their 4th and 5th semester) who had taken the cancer course were selected (2019-2022) and, upon obtaining their consent, were enrolled in the study. The study began with a pretest, followed by engagement in five VP scenarios over 6 weeks, which was followed by the post-test phase. Data were collected via 23-item tests and the Huwendiek Questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed in SPSS software using correlation tests and t-tests. Results: The outcomes revealed a noteworthy disparity between the mean scores recorded in the pre-test and post-test stages after training, for both the 4th and 5th semester cohorts (p ≤ 0.001). Moreover, a notable discrepancy surfaced between the duration of training with VPs and the average post-test score (p ≤ 0.001). The correlation coefficient, for the 4th semester, stood at 0.65, while for the 5th semester, it was 0.213. Notably, the participants exhibited contentment with the learning experience through VPs. Conclusions: The survey found that 85.60% of participants prefer using VPs for clinical reasoning education. Our study underscores the link between the duration of VP interaction and improved clinical reasoning skills in nursing students.

The Influence of Community Empowerment Training for Inland Water Transport Ship Loaders on Students’ Knowledge and Skills

The causes of shipping accidents, as identified by the KNKT investigation, included technical, weather, and human factors. As a result, community empowerment training was conducted in 2023 for loaders of inland waterway transport vessels Class I. This training aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge, insight, and skills regarding loading arrangements and stability testing of inland waterway vessels. The study employed a quantitative descriptive method using primary data from evaluations, including pretests and posttests administered to 30 training participants. The analysis technique utilized was the paired t-test. Results obtained through the Wilcoxon Matched Pair test indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, leading to the conclusion that participants’ knowledge improved after completing the training. The findings revealed that, out of 30 training participants, only 2 experienced a decrease in scores. Conversely, 28 participants showed positive results (positive rankings), indicating an increase in scores. The average pretest score was 73.67, which increased to an average posttest score of 92.50 following the training. These results were further supported by the significant difference shown in the paired t-test analysis. In conclusion, there was a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge after the training. It is recommended that the program be expanded to include more participants to ensure that the broader community, particularly ship operators, benefits from increased knowledge of shipping safety and proper ship loading practices.

MOOC-Based PBL Model to Improve Chemical Literacy Skills In Content, Procedural and Epistemic Knowledge Aspects

This study explores the effectiveness of a MOOC-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing chemical literacy across three dimensions—content, procedural, and epistemic knowledge—among grade 10 high school students. Employing an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, the research gathered data through chemical literacy tests, interviews, and observations. The participants comprised 80 students from three districts in Central Java, Indonesia. Quantitative analysis using Rasch modeling revealed a significant improvement in scores, with an average pretest score of 44.82, increasing to 66.50 post-intervention. The effect size of 1.1819 was categorized as "good," indicating the model's potential for fostering learning. However, the average post-test score remained below the minimum completion criterion of75.80. Qualitative findings highlighted weaknesses in the problem orientation stage of the PBL model, particularly in connecting students’ prior knowledge to new learning objectives. This stage is critical for setting the foundation for subsequent PBL phases, suggesting that insufficient scaffolding may have hindered optimal learning outcomes. To enhance the effectiveness of MOOC-based PBL, the study recommends restructuring the problem orientation stage to align better with students' initial knowledge levels. These findings underscore the promise of integrating MOOC-based PBL in chemistry education while emphasizing the need for refinements to address identified challenges. By bridging gaps in problem orientation and fostering deeper connections between prior and new knowledge, this approach could more effectively support the development of chemical literacy, providing valuable insights for educators and policymakers.

Building Capacity of Conservation Area Stakeholders in Managing Invasive Species

One of the ecological challenges in managing conservation areas is the colonization and establishment of alien and/or native plant species, especially after forest disturbances. The capacity stakeholders to determine the invasiveness risk of these plant species groups and then management strategies to monitor changes in vegetation structure and species composition is critical. The community engagement program aims to improve the capacity of conservation area stakeholders to identify plant species, including invasive species, and assess the risk of invasive species. Focus group discussion (FGD) were conducted online and offline and targeted stakeholders of the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam–BKSDA) of Central Java Province. Three FGD sessions were held on the topics: (1) forest monitoring and invasion ecology, (2) plant species identification and invasive species monitoring techniques, and (3) vegetation and invasiveness risk analysis. During the discussion, target groups shared ideas and lessons learned related to managing invasive species in the field. The results showed a significant increase in the capacity of the target group (p=4.546e-09), as the average pre-test score was 56.25 ± 13.68 compared to the average post-test score of 75.70 ± 20.27. The target group understands the definition of an invasive (alien) species, the factors that determine the success of this species invasion, and the positive and negative contributions alien species to the newly established ecosystem. Some gaps that need to be addressed relate to methods and criteria for identifying species invasiveness in invasive species risk analysis. As a follow-up, a practical training on invasive (alien) species risk analysis was conducted at different occasion and funding sources.

Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Project Based Learning terhadap Kemampuan Menulis Cerita Rakyat Kelas V SD Negeri O6 Ladang Padi

This study aims to describe the effect of the Project Based Learning model on the ability to write folk tales among fifth-grade elementary school students. The method used is a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The subjects of this study were fifth-grade students of SD Negeri 06 Ladang Padi. The sample consisted of two classes: class VA as the experimental group and class VB as the control group. The experimental class implemented the Project Based Learning model, while the control class used a text-based teaching method. The students' ability to write folk tales was measured through a pretest and posttest administered to both groups using the same question, consisting of one item. The statistical data analyzed included normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing, processed using SPSS 23 software. The results showed that the hypothesis test produced a significance value of 0.00 < 0.05, indicating that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected.The influence of the Project Based Learning model can be seen in the significant improvement in the experimental class. The improvement in students' ability to write folk tales was evidenced by the difference in the average posttest scores between the experimental and control classes. The experimental class achieved an average posttest score of 80.13, while the control class scored 60.12 on average. These findings demonstrate that the implementation of the Project Based Learning model significantly affects the ability to write folk tales among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 06 Ladang Padi.

Hybrid Learning Microsite Project STEAMER: Computational Thinking and Creative Thinking Abilities of Prospective Elementary School Teachers

Introduction: Prospective teachers' computational and creative thinking skills show quite low results because classroom learning is less innovative. This requires the use of innovative models. This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the Hybrid Learning Microsite Project STEAMER in improving prospective elementary school teachers' Computational and Creative Thinking Skills.Methods: The study subjects were prospective elementary school teachers from 10 Educational Personnel Education Institutions in six provinces. This method of study used a mixed approach. Data were collected through tests, interviews, and observations. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Quantitative data were analyzed using Multivariate statistics, SEM LISREL 8.80, while Miles and Huberman data analysis techniques were used to analyze qualitative data.Results: This study shown that the average post-test score in the experimental class increased by 69.95 and in the control class by 55.65. This study concludes that the application of the learning model has implications for the variables of creative and computational thinking abilities by 29.6% and 10.6%.Conclusions: The implementation of the STEAMER Hybrid Learning Project has influenced students' computational and creative thinking abilities through a series of model stages, such as reflection, conducting research, finding strategies, implementing design results, and communicating the results of the developed project.

Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Terhadap Keterampilan Menyimak Siswa Kelas V Sekolah Dasar

This study aims to determine the effect of using the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) learning model on the listening skills of fifth-grade students. The research was conducted in classes VB and VC at UPT SDN 015 Sumber Sari, involving a total of 62 students, during the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, specifically in July 2024. The study utilized a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design, involving two classes: VC as the experimental class with 32 students and VB as the control class with 30 students. In the experimental class, learning was conducted using the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) model, while in the control class, conventional teaching methods were applied. Students' listening skills were assessed through pretests and posttests in audio format, each consisting of 20 questions. The data collected were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing through the SPSS 24 application. The results showed that hypothesis testing using the t-test produced a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. These findings suggest a significant effect of applying the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) learning model on students' listening skills. This improvement was evident from the average posttest scores, with the experimental class achieving an average of 83.48, higher than the control class's average of 71.74. Thus, this study confirms that the use of the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) model is effective in enhancing the listening skills of fifth-grade elementary school students.

Enhancing Problem-Solving Skills in Elasticity and Hooke’s Law through Problem-Based Learning with PhET Media and Mechanics Kits

This research was conducted in Class IX of SMA Negeri Posigadan. This research aims to determine the influence of the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by PhET media and Mechanics Kit on problem-solving ability in elasticity and Hooke's law. This research employs an experimental method. The population of this research comprises all grade IX students in the odd semester of SMA Negeri Posigadan for the academic year 2023/2024. The research sample was selected using random sampling, consisting of two classes: the experimental class, with 22 students applying the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by PhET media and mechanics Kit, and the control class, with 22 students applying the conventional model. Data for this research were obtained using test instruments in six essay questions. The results indicate that the experimental class received an average pretest score of 35.7 and an average post-test score of 82.1. Meanwhile, the control class obtained an average score of 31.3 and an average post-test score of 62.6. Both classes were found to have a normal distribution (obtained and homogeneity (obtained . Subsequently, both classes were given different treatments, and a post-test was administered at the end of the lesson. From the statistical data analysis (one-tailed t-test), it obtained or 5.031.68, indicating a significant influence of applying the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by PhET media and Mechanics Kit on problem-solving abilities in elasticity and Hooke's law.

Efektivitas Metode Discovery dan Problem Basic Learning dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas dan Output pembelajaran IPAS Kelas V

This study examines the effectiveness of Discovery Learning and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methods in improving the quality and learning outcomes of grade V students in IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) subjects. Using a quasi-experimental approach as well as a nonequivalent control group design, this study was conducted at MIN 4 Jombang with 64 students divided into experimental (n=34) and control (n=30) groups. Data collection can be done with pretest-posttest assessments, learning quality questionnaires, and observation sheets. The results of this study showed a very significant difference between the two methods, where the Discovery Learning class achieved a higher average posttest score (89.12) than the PBL group (85.33). In addition, the learning quality questionnaire showed that the Discovery Learning group had higher scores in the aspects of motivation, activeness, and participation than the PBL group. Statistical analysis using t-test proved a significant difference between the two groups (t=3.214, p=0.002). This study found that the greater effectiveness of Discovery Learning in encouraging independent exploration and creating a deeper understanding, which has a positive impact on the quality and learning outcomes of students in IPAS subjects.

Improving Understanding of Pancasila Values Based on Bruce and Weil Model in Science Learning in Elementary School

This study aims to improve students' understanding of Pancasila values in science learning in elementary schools by applying Bruce and Weil's learning model, especially the Social Interaction Model, which emphasizes the importance of cooperation and discussion. The research was conducted on grade IV students at SDN 19 Kampung Baru Kota Pariaman using the experimental method and Static Group Comparison design. Two groups were involved: an experimental class that applied the Bruce and Weil model, and a control class that used the conventional lecture method. Data were collected through learning outcome tests and analyzed statistically. The results showed that the application of the Bruce and Weil model had a significant effect on improving the understanding of Pancasila values. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 85, while the control class reached 70. Hypothesis testing resulted in a tcount of 22.70, greater than the ttable of 1.68 at the 0.05 significance level, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Bruce and Weil's model proved effective in improving the understanding of Pancasila values through active participation of students in science learning. This model is recommended as an effective alternative to integrate Pancasila values in science learning in elementary schools.

Fostering patriotism through education on the conservation of Indonesian endemic animals to students in Selangor, Malaysia

Indonesia, the world's largest archipelago with rich biodiversity, faces significant challenges in conserving endemic animals such as the Komodo dragon, Sumatran tiger, Bornean orangutan, and Javan rhinoceros. This Community Service (CS) program aimed to raise awareness and knowledge among Indonesian students abroad, particularly in Selangor, Malaysia, about the importance of conserving these animals. The program comprised four stages: a pre-test, educational sessions, a virtual tour, and a post-test. Results showed a significant increase in students' understanding, with the post-test average score reaching 85%, compared to 40% on the pre-test. The educational sessions successfully motivated students to participate in conservation efforts, demonstrating the effectiveness of the educational and participatory approach.

Enhancing Middle School Teachers' Competence through Training and Mentoring in Artificial Intelligent Technology

SMP Negeri 3 Selat is located in Duda Utara, Selat District, Karangasem Regency, Bali Province, Indonesia. Situational analysis shows that most teachers have not utilized artificial intelligence (AI) technology optimally in education. In fact, artificial intelligence technology has the potential to help teachers' work in improving the quality of learning. The purpose of this study was to see the effectiveness of training and mentoring activities in improving teacher knowledge about AI technology and its utilization, as well as improving teacher skills in utilizing AI technology for compiling learning administration; designing learning processes and compiling teaching materials. The data used were primary data from training and mentoring participants consisting of 20 teachers of SMP Negeri 3 Selat. The data were in the form of quantitative data, namely pretest and posttest scores. The data analysis stage began with a plot of pretest and posttest scores and a bar chart plot of grouped data, both of which showed a significant increase in scores after being given intervention in the form of training and mentoring. Paired t-test. To see how big the effect of the training and mentoring intervention was, Cohen's effect size was calculated, the percentage change in pretest and posttest scores. The paired t-test results show that there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Based on Cohen's size, it was found that the training and mentoring intervention had a very strong effect on changes in pretest and posttest scores. In addition, it was also found that the percentage of changes in pretest and posttest was 106.85% and it can be 95% certain that the average posttest score in the population is estimated to be 32.76 to 45.24 points higher than the average pretest score, due to the intervention in the form of training and mentoring. This is reinforced by the pretest and posttest difference plot showing that there was a significant increase in scores after the intervention.

Training and Mentoring Strengthening Literacy and Numeracy in Recovery Learning in Musi Banyuasin Regency

They are strengthening training and mentoring​​​ literacy and numeracy in Musi Banyuasin Regency through training and mentoring for Principals and Vice Curriculum in Junior High Schools (SMP). Based on the results of the National Assessment and the Program for International Students Assessment (PISA) 2022, post-pandemic learning recovery is essential in Indonesia, especially in improving student literacy and numeracy. This activity aims to strengthen participants' understanding and competence in designing and implementing learning that integrates literacy and numeracy by the Merdeka Curriculum. The methods used in this activity include counselling, intensive training, and assistance in designing learning tools, such as Learning Implementation Plans (RPP), learning media, and assessments. The activity also includes evaluation through pretests and posttests to measure changes in participant understanding. The results show significant improvement in literacy and numeracy understanding, with the average posttest score of participants increasing from 50 to 70. The evaluation results showed high satisfaction from participants with the material provided and its relevance to needs in the field. This activity strengthened collaboration between education managers and learning communities and positively impacted the recovery of education quality in Musi Banyuasin Regency post-pandemic. Hopefully, this activity can be sustainable in improving literacy and numeracy at the junior high school level.

DIORAMA: AS A LEARNING MEDIA FOR SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES (IPAS) ON ECOSYSTEM MATERIAL IN GRADE IV OF SDI CENDEKIA ASSALAM BANGILAN

Teaching Science and Social Studies (IPAS) in elementary schools often faces challenges in delivering abstract concepts such as ecosystems. Conventional teaching methods, which are less interactive, make it difficult for students to understand the relationships between ecosystem components. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of diorama media in improving students' understanding of ecosystem material in Grade IV of SDI Cendekia Assalam Bangilan. The research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving 27 students in the experimental group using diorama media and 25 students in the control group using conventional teaching methods. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests and analyzed using the t-test. The results showed that the average post-test score of the experimental group was higher (85.4) compared to the control group (73.8). Statistical analysis indicated a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05), demonstrating that diorama media is effective in enhancing students' understanding of ecosystem concepts. These findings support constructivist learning theory, which emphasizes the importance of visual experiences and interaction in learning. This study suggests that diorama media should be widely applied to other materials requiring concrete visualization. Additionally, further research can explore the impact of diorama media on other skills such as critical thinking or student collaboration.

Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension by Using Integrated Multimedia in MAN 1 Bandar Lampung

This study examined the impact of integrated multimedia instruction on students’ reading comprehension achievement compared with the traditional print-based instruction. This research applied a quasi-experimental design involving two groups: experimental and control. In this experiment, there were 38 students assigned to the experimental group and 37 in the control group from 12th graders at MAN 1 Bandar Lampung. The experimental group received instruction that integrated text, picture, audio, video, and an interactive quiz in a single web post, whereas the control group used print-based instruction. Pre-test results showed relatively equal initial abilities with mean scores of 62.7 and 60.0 respectively for the experimental and control group, t = 0.697, p = 0.488. In comparison, after treatment, the average post-test score in the experimental group is remarkably higher at 83.3, while that of the control group is a mere 70.3, with t = 6.784; p-value = 4.38 × 10⁻⁹. This confirms that integrated multimedia instruction significantly improves students’ reading comprehension as compared to the print-based one. Integrating multiple media into a single web post tends to be more effective in bringing improvement to students’ reading achievement. This finding gives educators valued information on how to better use multimedia tools in order to improve reading instruction outcomes.
