Two experiments were conducted to study the relationships of egg production before and after force-molting. Two hundred Single Comb White Leghorn (SCWL) hens at 66 wk of age were either preselected (Experiment 1) or randomly selected (Experiment 2) and subjected to force-molting. After force-molting, approximately 150 hens were transferred into individual laying cages and daily egg production was recorded. The average number of eggs laid during the 44-wk period was 209 per hen in Experiment 1 and 205 per hen in Experiment 2. The number of eggs produced in the second cycle varied from 0 to 297 per hen in both experiments. The number of eggs produced in the first and the second cycle was not correlated (R=0.26, P>.05). The number of eggs produced in the second cycle correlated better to total eggs produced in both cycles than to eggs produced in the first cycle.
