Objective To investigate the characteristics of ASCUS by AutoCyte PREP test (Lct)in postmenopausal women. Methods Analysis was carried on 223 postmenopausal women with a Lct result of ASCUS. The results of the biopsy under colposcopy in 82 of them were compared with that of non-menopausal women. All women with ASCUS were reexamined by Lct 3-6 months after treatment or observation. Results Postmenopausal and non-menopausal women with ASCUS who have ahnomal colposcopic results were received biopsy under colposcopy. The rate of abnormality had significant difference between two groups in chronic cervicitis( P = 0.004 ), CIN Ⅱ ( P = 0.022 ) and CIN Ⅲ ( P = 0.037 ). The rate of abnormality had no significant difference between two groups in CIN Ⅰ ( P = 0.422) and SCC ( P = 0.301 ). There were 14. 80% ( 33/223 ) of postmenopausal women remained to be ASCUS 3-6 months after treatment or observation, no significant difference compared with 14.52% (54/372) of non-menopausal women ( P = 0.925 ). Conclusion The characteristics of ASCUS in postmenopausal women is that the rate of cervix diseases is low, but unneglectable cervix diseases still exists in them.
