Implications of the "Online Ojek Jacket" Symbol on the Culture of Solidarity of the Online Ojek Community D.I Yogyakarta

The online motorcycle taxi community in Yogyakarta Province has been recognized by the wider community with a strong culture of solidarity between fellow online drivers, and the culture of solidarity among online motorcycle taxis can be said to be well established until now. Then the results of this study are related to the implications of the online motorcycle taxi jacket symbol on the culture of solidarity of the Yogyakarta online motorcycle taxi community. And the results are as follows (1) The symbol of the online motorcycle taxi jacket gives the meaning that when the jacket has been used by individuals to work on the road, the individual has a strong attitude and sense of solidarity towards fellow online motorcycle taxis who are on the road. (2) The inherited symbol is a symbol of solidarity culture and although maybe one to another is not very familiar but interestingly when they have met on the road the online ojek have an attitude of helping each other (strong empathy) fellow online ojek.

Frontline Citizens: Liberation Movements, Transnational Solidarity, and the Making of Anti-Imperialist Citizenship in Tanzania

AbstractThis article explores the intricate relationship between transnational solidarity and citizenship in socialist Tanzania, renowned for its extensive and enduring support of liberation movements from the 1960s to the 1980s. Termed “frontline citizenship”, this unique political subjectivity, evolving in the 1960s, was shaped not only by Tanzania's geopolitical location, nationalist struggles against colonialism, and government efforts to instil attitudes of anti-colonial solidarity in the population, but also by initiatives of hosted liberation movements, Tanzanians’ embrace of global anti-imperialist currents from Cuba to China and Vietnam, and critiques of politicians in exile. The article highlights the gendered and generational aspects of the solidarity regime, scrutinizes contested material solidarities, and discusses the partial decline of the frontline citizenship discourse. It does so by investigating the role of media, the impact of the paramilitary National Service, and the dynamics of material support practices. Drawing on multi-archival research, interviews, memoirs, and secondary literature, with a focus on South Africa's African National Congress (ANC), the analysis challenges conventional views of state-sponsored solidarity, emphasizing the dynamic interplay between state initiatives and grassroots participation as well as “external” and “internal” actors. Conceiving socialist Tanzania's solidarity regime in this way contributes to a broader understanding of the intersection between anti-imperialist world-making, nationalist state-building, and everyday performances of citizenship.

THE EPISTEMOLOGY OF NEOPRAGMATISM SUCH AS THE PHILOSOPHICAL THOUGHT OF RICHARD RORTY

Firstly, I would like to provide an overview of the important traits and underlying characteristics of pragmatism, and then discuss the existence and establishment of Richard Rorty's thought on pragmatism, which was an earlier development of pragmatism classic. Richard Rorty's thoughts are also discussed with other modern philosophical thoughts in continental Europe, particularly on principles thought to be related to the principles of pragmatism. The possibilities of language, self and society are the principles discussed. It also mentions the inevitability of reality and objectivity of various points of view, thus giving rise to the need for attitudes of solidarity, or even the need for principles of solidarity in science. It is also mentioned that there are two notions of rationality, namely, objective, factual and obedient, as it is known so far, while the second meaning of rationality is cultured or civilized. Another part shown is the role of romantic poets and revolutionaries in breaking out of the impasse of language, thought and questions about the meaning of rationality itself. The other principle of truth is that it cannot be found, but must be done.

The Impact of Empathy and Fear on Solidarity during a Pandemic

It is believed that solidarity is motivated by positive collective feelings (group cohesion, social responsibility, etc.), as well as by individual empathy of group members. Motivation may change vector if all members of society are potential victims of a pandemic. An analysis of data obtained from an online survey of 331 Russian-speaking respondents (19 countries) from March 2021 to April 2023 revealed a weak link between empathy (both affective and cognitive) and the solidarity attitudes on safe behavior. On the contrary, a significant correlation was found between negative Ego-feelings (fear for oneself and health) and the expression of the most important solidarity attitudes -wearing masks, social distancing and vaccination. This contradicts the old tradition of considering individual empathy as the principal factor of collective solidarity. In particular, the bodily metaphor of rapprochement, embracing with others, which is the core of empathy, contradicts the requirement of physical distance. A positive correlation was also noted between the pronouncement of solidarity attitudes and the experience of material aid to strangers. Fears for oneself and empathy for others are experiences with opposite vectors. Fears can block empathy. Thus, the phenomenon of synchronous behavior of people, similar to solidarity, but with nonspecific negative motivation, was discovered. We believe that solidarity-like activity should be distinguished from conscious, trained solidarity based on the belief that suffering and unprotected groups and people need to be supported by the state and other citizens.

This can be seen in a community of online motorcycle taxi drivers when conducting associations. However, the association has faded along with the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Indonesia. This makes the community association of online ojek drivers unscheduled and unable to conduct associations between online motorcycle taxi drivers due to the implementation of community activity restrictions (PPKM). With conditions like this, the association of online motorcycle taxi drivers in a community in palangkaraya city is hampered. This study aims to find out how solidarity occurs between online motorcycle taxi drivers in Palangka Raya city after the Covid-19 pandemic when viewed from the point of view of social solidarity theory. This research uses qualitative-descriptive methods to describe each behavior of the activities of the object under study, so as to produce accurate information, also carried out with a sociological approach. The theory used is social solidarity as formulated by Emile Durkheim. All forms of data collection and processing are carried out by means of surveys as well as the author's participation in the activities of the online motorcycle taxi driver community in the city of Palangkaraya. The results of this study show that online motorcycle taxi drivers who in fact vary in ethnicity, religion and culture play an important role as actors in developing an attitude of social solidarity as a result of disaster fundraising or disaster sesame drivers, gatherings every two weeks on certain days, regular social gatherings that are carried out once a week on Saturdays.</p><p class="Normal1"> </p></td></tr></tbody></table>

Solidarity with Displaced People from Ukraine in Hungary: Attitudes and Practices

AbstractThe paper explores the attitudes of Hungarian civil society in the context of the war against Ukraine, the active agents of solidarity, and the general social atmosphere associated with welcoming displaced people. Based on a population survey from the summer of 2022, the paper draws an ambivalent picture. First, it highlights the exceptional momentum and mobilising power of civil solidarity both in terms of practical involvement and expressed attitudes. At the same time, the results also reveal the limits and vulnerabilities of civil solidarity—namely, its exposure to populist political discourses which cherish or condemn moral economies of assistance according to vested interests, as well as its embeddedness in a neoliberal reliance on citizens’ individual resources (disposable time and material means), and the salient inequalities in sharing the burdens of humanitarian support. All this reflects that the consensus and relative evenness of solidarity attitudes at the time of our survey were unevenly translated into practical help, burdening those already heavily charged with care responsibilities. With this finding, we underline the importance of exploring solidarity as a complex relationship of attitudes and practices; also, we highlight the need to include the perspectives of care in inquiries of the population’s attitude towards immigrant groups and categories. Our results are drawn from the application of multi-dimensional logistic regression models based on data from a statistical survey involving 1000 respondents representative of Hungary’s adult population.

A democratic country is a country whose government is run based on the principle of popular sovereignty. The people can use this power in various ways, such as elections, referendums, and petitions. The purpose of this writing is to maximize the performance of general election supervisors to realize democratic, honest and fair general elections. The research method uses descriptive qualitative analysis using data taken from literature sources and then analyzed. The results of the study that as election organizers must have an attitude of solidarity, integrity, mentality and professionalism. The responsibility of the election supervisor is the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu). Bawaslu as an institution responsible for implementing general elections is obliged to improve the loyalty, performance and behavior of election supervisors in order to achieve democratic, honest and fair general elections. Optimizing the behavior of election supervisors to improve integrity can be done with technical guidance, consolidation between election administrators and digitalization of supervisory applications

Breaking Out of the Cage of Anthropocentrism: Ecofeminism in Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Quartet and Other Essays

ABSTRACT This article examines the confluence of feminist and ecological concerns across Elena Ferrante’s literary corpus. After a discussion of Ferrante’s engagement with Giacomo Leopardi, this paper considers references to the climate emergency and the Campania waste crisis in her work. An analysis of ‘Tremore’ illuminates Ferrante’s ecofeminism — an ethics of radical openness to all living beings. Proposing an ecofeminist attitude of interspecies solidarity on a damaged planet, the tetralogy explores the concurrent oppressions of women and nonhuman animals. While the episode of Lila’s exploitation in the factory connects the butchering of animals to women’s physical and financial abuse at the hands of men, Lila’s characterization as a snake and a falcon challenges human exceptionalism. Smarginatura is understood as an experiment in ecological writing: rather than engaging in an aesthetic or anthropomorphizing contemplation of the world that entails remoteness, Ferrante reminds us of our enmeshment with every form of life.

A systems approach to multilingual language attitudes: A case study of Montréal, Québec, Canada.

People are shaped holistically by dynamic and interrelated individual and social-ecological systems. This perspective has been discussed in the context of varied aspects of bilingual experiences, namely language acquisition and development. Here, we applied a Systems Framework of Bilingualism to language attitudes, which may be especially responsive to social-ecological influences. One hundred twenty-three French-English bilingual adults (M age = 21.20, SD = 3.21) completed self-report questionnaires on demographic information and their attitudes toward languages. A subset of these bilinguals (n = 73) completed a social network survey. We used language-tagged social network analysis and geospatial demographic analysis to examine the role of individual characteristics (i.e., first language), interpersonal language dynamics (i.e., person-to-person interactions), and ecological language dynamics (i.e., neighborhood language exposure). At an individual level, we found that bilinguals' language background (i.e., first language) predicted attitudes of solidarity toward a language (i.e., whether a language is associated with personal identity and belongingness). When considering sociolinguistic layers of influence, we found that bilinguals' social network and neighborhood-level language exposure jointly predicted their attitudes of solidarity toward a language, as well as their attitudes toward the protection of minority languages. While most studies have examined language experience in a unidimensional nature, the present study investigated multilingual language attitudes by considering multiple systems within a social-ecological framework. Taken together, the results suggest that several interrelated interpersonal and ecological systems are associated with language attitudes, which could have important implications for planning future language policies in multilingual societies such as Montréal.

Values and Solidarity of Young Finnish Millennials and Generation X

It has been claimed that, in many countries and societies, there has been a generational change in youth values towards postmodern values that indicate postmaterialism. This paper tests that proposition by comparing youth values and solidarity attitudes in the Nordic welfare state of Finland among Generation X (born in the 1960s and 1970s) and Millennials (born in the 1980s and 1990s). The data were gathered from young people in 1992, 1995, 2011, and 2015 by same attitude scales relating to solidarity, environmental issues, gender, work, science and technology, immigration, economic well-being, and politics. Factor analysis was used to identify the value structures of young people. Common to the value structures of both generations were humanism, traditionalism, individualism, and globalism. The findings indicate a decline in postmaterialist values during the periods of economic recession, which affected solidarity attitudes. It was easier, for example, to show solidarity towards people of one’s own country than to people of foreign countries. Generation X youth presented a more socio-democratic type of solidarity towards citizens, while Millennials showed liberal solidarity towards the poor. Young females of both generations were more likely to support postmaterialistic values, such as gender equality, tolerance of different ethnic groups, globalization, and environmentalism. By contrast, young males had more materialist values and greater faith in science and technology. Positive attitudes towards the future were found among young Millennials, which could support the broad identity horizon. Young people of Millennials showed greater variety in their value structures than the young people of Generation X. They revealed neoliberal attitudes in their value structures, which came closer to the ideology of economic liberalization. Nationalist values were also found among the young people of Millennials. The research findings and implication will be critically discussed.

The problem of this research is how is the study of eco-criticism in the novel Because of Your Grace that I Miss by Emy Agustini Sulaiman. The purpose of this study is to describe eco-critical studies in the novel Due to Your Grace that Kurindu by Emy Agustini Sulaiman which focuses on the study of respect for nature, the study of attitudes of moral responsibility towards nature, the study of solidarity with nature, the study of compassion and care for nature and study the attitude of not disturbing natural life. The research method used in this method is descriptive qualitative method. The source of the data and the object of this research is the novel Due to Your Grace that I Miss by Emy Agustini Sulaiman. The data collection technique in this research is the documentation technique. Researchers use triangulation techniques in the process of validating data in research. The data analysis technique used in this study is content analysis. The results of the analysis obtained are in the form of first there are as many as 10 citations which contain a study of respect for nature, secondly there are 9 citations which contain a study of the attitude of moral responsibility towards nature, thirdly there are 6 citations analyzing the attitude of solidarity towards nature, fourth there are 7 citations which contains a study of attitudes of compassion and concern for nature, the fifth as many as 10 citations which contain a study of attitudes not to disturb natural life. It is hoped that the results of this research can later be used as a means to develop the ability to respect nature and examine the meaning of every existence of natural life. THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION TEACHERS AS A MODEL IN IMPROVING SOCIAL ATTITUDE OF STUDENTS AT SMP NEGERI 3 PAMBOANG MAJENE REGENCY

Exemplary has a very large influence in the formation of the good personality of learners, especially to raise the social attitudes of learners. Social attitudes are closely related to the formation of attitudes towards students in order to become figures who always do better things to human beings. The purpose of this research is to determine the role of Islamic Education Teachers as role models in improving Social Attitudes of Students at SMP Negeri 3 Pamboang, Majene Regency. The type of research used by the authors in this study is qualitative. Qualitative research which builds meaning based on field data. This qualitative research procedure produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken form obtained by observable people. The data collection is carried out by having interview. The results showed that the role of Islamic Education Teachers as a model in improving the socialattitude of students at SMP Negeri 3 Pamboang, namely, islamic education teachers always show an attitude of care and respect of learners, apply good speech , Always take care of the feelings of the learners and give full attention to the learners. Therefore, the social cycle of students grows well, especially the attitude of cooperation, solidarity and tolerance.

RELEVANSI SPIRITUALITAS INKARNASI SANTO MONTFORT DALAM MENUMBUHKAN SOLIDARITAS, MENGATASI INDIVIDUALITAS DI TENGAH BUDAYA HEDONIS

The purpose of this paper is to examine the incarnation spirituality of Saint Louis Marie de Montfort and its relevance in today's hedonic culture. The background of this paper is the increasingly rapid development of technology and economics which has spawned the seeds of egoism and killed the spirit to live caring for each other and the attitude of solidarity in living together. The method used in this paper is the historical-factual-critical analysis method. Meaning, the author will explore Montfort's writings that talk about the Incarnation, then analyze them based on their historical context and confront them with contemporary theological reflections. Subsequently, logical conclusions will be drawn to answer the questions raised. Based on the analysis obtained, Montfort’s Incarnation spirituality is still relevant for the Church today. The fact that the Incarnation spirituality he elaborated finds its origine in God who showed solidarity towards humans, by itself invites the Church and all humanity to cultivate a spirit of solidarity.

Living Hadith in Sumbayang Ampek Puluah Tradition at Pandai Sikek, West Sumatra

<p class="abstrak"><em>Sumbayang Ampek Puluah</em> or Forty Days Prayer is an annual tradition carried out by the congregation of Surau Gadang Haji Miskin, Koto Tinggi Pandai Sikek, West Sumatra. This paper examines the transmission lines and reasons for the <em>Sumbayang Ampek Puluah</em> tradition's existence and survival. This research studies living hadith using the phenomenological and sociological-knowledge approaches of Peter L. Berger. Field facts show that the <em>Sumbayang Ampek Puluah</em> tradition is carried out every 15<sup>th</sup> of the month of Sha'ban to the 25<sup>th</sup> of the month of Ramadan. This study found that there are three motivations for the congregation to implement this tradition, apart from the large reward (<em>pahala</em>) of the congregational prayer: (1) because of the large <em>Sumbayang Ampek Puluah fadilah</em> mentioned in the hadith, especially if the time of its implementation is in the month of Ramadan; (2) to preserve the traditions of the ancestors; (3) because other congregations influenced them. The benefits of this tradition are calm and peace of mind, discipline in worship, maintenance of kinship ties, and the growth of a high attitude of solidarity among fellow worshippers. Thus, they are determined to preserve and teach it to the next generation.</p>

Once they are seated: the impact of radical right parties’ political representation on attitudes of trust and solidarity

AbstractA close reading of the literature on radical right parties (RRPs) suggests that these parties erode trust and solidarity in European democracies when they pit ‘the pure people’ against political and legal institutions, elites, and immigrants. I propose the conjecture that RRPs with seats in the national parliament have better conditions for spreading nativist and populist messages that may erode trust and solidarity between a society’s residents, between ethnic groups, and towards its political and legal institutions. To test this research question, I combine nine waves of European Social Survey data from 17 countries and data on national elections spanning the years 1999 to 2020. Two-way fixed effects models estimate that RRPs representation in the national parliament is associated with a reduction in public support for redistribution of ca. 18% of a standard deviation. Additionally, I demonstrate that this inverse relationship runs parallel to growing welfare chauvinistic beliefs and that it is stronger in countries with weak integration policies. Contra theoretical expectations, the radical rights’ political representation has not produced any change in societal levels of anti-immigration attitudes, institutional trust, or social trust. While the findings persist across a wide range of robustness checks and other model specifications, threats to identification in the form of non-parallel pre-trends and unobserved sources of confounding, means that one should be cautious in interpreting the findings in a causal manner.

From vision to transformation: integrating human rights courses in higher education in India

Human Rights Education (HRE) is critical to human development and societal transformation. In India, although HRE emerged in the 1980s, its incorporation in higher education has not yet reached its full potential. Using the state of Tamil Nadu as our case study, this paper evaluates the integration of courses on human rights in universities and colleges, using a descriptive qualitative approach to analyse the nature and content of such courses, their compliance with India’s apex institutional directives, and the challenges faced. The researchers conclude that there is a disconnect between the vision of policy makers and actual implementation of HRE in practice. It is suggested that wider holistic application of HRE in higher education is needed, so that learning becomes a transformative force, empowering the young to develop attitudes of solidarity, tolerance, and respect for social justice.

The results of the analysis of the data found indicate that the moral message contained in this study reflects the life of a person, both from the lower middle class or the upper middle class, must be able to face problems and not leave problems and not leave problems but solve problems so that they will be resolved soon. A Survey of Wuat Wa’i Ritual Culture As Solidarity Value Of Golo Lebo Community

Pesta sekolah or known wuat wa’I ritual is a form to support and the togetherness from the Manggarai community to help others who have difficulties in funding their son and girl in education. The purpose of this research is to find out why the wuat wa’I ritual culture has been survive until now in Golo Lebo Village. The research used qualitative type in a descriptive approach. Determination of informants in this study using snowball sampling technique. The symbol used during the event (prayer) is to slaughter a white chicken as an offering. The meat was eaten together and the inside is put in a container and then given to the ancestors as a symbol that they are also present at the ceremony and always guide the prospective nomad, and that hope can be symbolized by the expression lalong bakok du lakom lalong rombeng du kolem which means to go with a hope that the return will bring success. And if they finished college later, a thanksgiving event will also be held by slaughtering a black chicken as an expression of gratitude and gratitude to God and the ancestors who had protected and guided them while completing their studies in out of their land. In wuat wa'i ritual in an attitude of solidarity is manifested which is not hindered by certain forms of diversity. All community groups are present together to help the parties concerned. As conclusion that Wuat wa'i is very well known by the wider community in Manggarai. Because it is not told orally and handed down from generation to generation, but all people, from young children to adults are always involved in the wuat wa'i event.

Smart Parenting in Building Children’s Personality Through Religion-Based Habituation

The purpose of this study is to analyze and examine the role of religion-based habituation in the development of children's personalities in Besuk Agung village. Problems in the development of children are the subject of this case study, which focuses on a specific object. Observation and in-depth interviews are used to gather the information. Observations and interviews can be strengthened by documenting the results of the research. It is necessary to employ data reduction, presentation, and conclusion techniques when analyzing the data. Findings from the study show that religious habituation can help children develop their communication skills by providing ongoing learning and exposure to educational films, as well as by teaching them about Islam and its stories. It is thus possible to train children to control their emotions, learn to be fair, honest, helpful, and willing to share a high attitude of solidarity and mutual respect through religious-based habituation.
