Assessment of the ‘students’ perceptions of education using Dundee Ready Environment Educational Measure (DREEM) inventory at Princess Nora bint Abdulrahman University, Saudi Arabia

BackgroundEducational settings in professional health education establishments significantly shape students' academic, social, and emotional experiences. These environments encompass physical, psychological, and social infrastructures of programs or institutions, which jointly influence learning and development. This study analyzed the educational environment at Prince Nora University in Saudi Arabia, a renowned institution in health education.AimThe primary aim of this study was to evaluate the perceptions of the educational environment among students at Prince Nora University using the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) inventory. The DREEM inventory is a renowned and validated tool designed to gauge students' perceptions across various dimensions of their educational experience.MethodsEmploying a cross-sectional survey design, the research gathered data from a sample of 321 students enrolled in the College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Prince Nord University. The DREEM inventory, which measures the academic, social, and emotional aspects of the learning environment from the student's perspective, was utilized to collect the information.ResultsThe findings from the study indicated a positive perception of the educational environment among the students, with an overall mean score of 113.84 out of 200 on the DREEM inventory. Analysis of the subscales revealed that the Student Perceptions of Atmosphere (SPoA) received the highest scores, indicating a favourable environment, while Student Social Self-Perceptions (SSSP) scored the lowest, suggesting areas that may require attention and improvement.ConclusionThe study successfully showed the utility of the DREEM inventory in assessing the educational environment at Prince Nora University, highlighting its effectiveness as a tool for understanding student perceptions. The positive overall score suggests a conducive learning atmosphere, though the disparity in subscale scores points to potential areas for enhancement. Recommendation: The research suggests that Saudi Arabian universities should implement the DREEM inventory to assess and enhance their educational settings, ultimately delivering a comprehensive and nurturing learning experience for students.

The Role of Cloud Computing Technology in Supporting Educational Accessibility and Scalability

Education is very important for human life. Many of them are vying for the best education in the world to guarantee a better future. The thing that is very concerned about in Education is learning and also the right method of teaching, because that way it can give birth to a competitive and quality generation. One of them is the role of cloud computing technology, which is a combination of the use of computer technology and internet-based development. A way or method that makes it easy for users to access information without knowing what is in it, being expert with it or having control over it. Cloud computing is an important technology that has helped many institutions and schools use distance learning, and can support Education's accessibility and scalability. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of cloud computing technology in increasing the accessibility and scalability of more advanced education and being able to create a generation that is highly competitive and virtuous. The method used in this study uses a quantitative method by distributing questionnaires to respondents as many as 15 statements about the use of cloud computing technology in education. The results of this study proved to be a very effective role for cloud computing technology in improving education, because this technology can increase students' interest in learning and make them enthusiastic in learning, so as to create an interactive learning atmosphere. The implication of this latest technology is to make learning more interesting and easily accessible anytime and anywhere by students. Navigating the Path to inclusive Education in Primary Schools in Arusha Region, Tanzania: A Descriptive-Correlational Study on Key Implementation Factors

This study navigated the path to inclusive education in primary schools in Arusha Region, Tanzania. The study used the descriptive correlational design. Out of the population of 14,881 stakeholders, the study had the sample size was 1,163 subject including 370 mainstream pupils, 278 mainstream teachers, 346 special needs learners and 169 special needs teachers. Sources of data were a questionnaire, an interview schedule, an observation schedule and Focus Group Discussions. Data analysis involved the thematic approach, descriptive statistics and regression analysis. While the running of inclusive education requires supporting tools and infrastructure, the schools did not have sufficient infrastructure and science and technology facilities to support the inclusive learning atmosphere. While primary schools had suitable classrooms, toilets, and playing grounds, the lighting, ventilation, and sound system were limited in quality. Based on the conclusions, the established shortcomings in infrastructure and technological equipment call for the school budget to include special education requirements. Finally, there is a need for schools to propagate appropriate cultural norms that cherish the value of humanity for both teachers and learners to respect special needs learners, providing necessary support for special needs learners to study comfortably without any discrimination.

IMPROVING STUDENTS VOCABULARY MASTERY THROUGH ENGLISH FUN LEARNING WITH BLOOKET GAMES AT SMP SANTO ANTONIUS, JAKARTA TIMUR

This research aims to improve the vocabulary mastery of seventh grade students at Santo Antonius Middle School, East Jakarta, through fun English learning using the Blooket game. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) involving 22 students as samples. This research was carried out in two cycles, where each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection was carried out through qualitative and quantitative techniques. Qualitative data was obtained from interviews with students before and after the cycle, as well as observations during class activities. Quantitative data was obtained from tests before and after the action. The results showed that the use of the Blooket game significantly increased students' vocabulary mastery. Based on these findings, it is concluded that learning vocabulary through interactive games such as Blooket can create a fun and effective learning atmosphere.

Learning is an activity that results in a change from those who do not know to know, from those who are unable to become capable. While learning refers to two concepts, namely learning and teaching. When the learning process takes place there will definitely be students who are not interested in the learning material delivered by the teacher. To overcome this, teachers must make innovations and updates in learning so that students can get motivation to learn and a pleasant learning atmosphere so that it is easier to accept material. Technology in the world of education is a learning system that supports learning so that learning becomes fun and achieves the desired results. Many learning platforms on the internet can be accessed for free, one of which is Quizziz. Quizizz is a platform for creating an interactive quiz game that can be used in class or outside the classroom in the form of homework. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with class VIII B students at SMPN 2 Semarang as the subject. Data collection techniques used are observation and documentation. The data analysis technique that the researcher used included three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and concluding data. The results that the researchers got from the application of Quizziz as an explanatory text assessment tool for class VIII B students at SMPN 2 Semarang. interactive quiz media on explanatory text material at SMPN 2 Semarang shows that the use of the Quizziz application is beneficial for teachers and students even though there are still drawbacks.

Integrating Religious Values into Indonesian Language Learning: Pedagogical Approaches and Impacts

This study examines the integration of religious values into Indonesian language learning and its pedagogical impacts on students’ linguistic and moral development. Employing a qualitative research methodology, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with language teachers, classroom observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that various pedagogical approaches, including storytelling, thematic lessons, collaborative activities, and contextual learning, effectively embed religious values within the language curriculum. These strategies not only enhance students' engagement and motivation but also promote critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and social skills. The study highlights that integrating religious values into language lessons fosters a positive learning atmosphere, reduces anxiety, and encourages active participation, thereby improving language proficiency. Furthermore, the integration contributes significantly to students' moral and ethical development, helping them internalize values such as honesty, empathy, and social responsibility. Despite the benefits, challenges such as potential bias and the need for teacher training were identified. The study recommends developing comprehensive guidelines and frameworks in collaboration with educational experts, religious scholars, and community leaders to ensure inclusivity and effectiveness. By addressing these challenges and fostering an inclusive environment, the integration of religious values can enhance Indonesian language learning, contributing to the formation of well-rounded individuals proficient in language and grounded in ethical principles. This research provides valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and scholars, advocating for the incorporation of religious values in language education to promote holistic student development.

Pengaruh Kompetensi Sosial Guru Terhadap Proses Pembelajaran: Studi Kualitatif Di Kelas 5 SDN Batukali

Social competence is the ability of teachers to communicate and interact with students during the learning process. This competence is very important so that teachers can be good examples for students, help students develop individuals who are full of empathy, attention, and concern for others. This study aims to assess in detail the influence of social competence possessed by class teachers. This study uses a qualitative approach. The main subjects of the study, namely grade V teachers and supporting objects, namely students. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's theory, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the social competence of grade V teachers, including inclusive attitudes, polite communication, adaptability, and communication with the professional community, had a positive effect on the learning process. Teachers who are effective in social competence create a pleasant learning atmosphere, increase comfort, motivation, and student learning achievement. This study concludes the importance of strengthening social competence in improving the quality of the learning process in the classroom.

Strategi Writing in the Here and Now untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Siswa Menulis Teks Rekon di SMA Pangeran Antasari, Medan

This research was motivated by the low ability of students in writing recon texts. This is because learning still dominates theory over practice, so that students are only able to understand the theory of recon texts, not able to write recon texts. One learning strategy that is believed to be able to improve student learning outcomes is the writing in the here and now strategy for students in writing class X recon texts at Pangeran Antasari High School. This research aims to describe the process and results of implementing the writing in the here and now strategy in improving students' skills in writing recon texts. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research that describes events or phenomena systematically. The data for this research is in the form of 24 student essays. The data analysis technique used is a test technique, namely students are asked to write a recap text. This research shows that the writing in the here and now strategy is very effective in improving students' ability to write recon texts for class X SMA Pangeran Antasari Medan as evidenced by the students' writing. The writing in the here and now strategy also makes the learning atmosphere more active and enjoyable for students by providing collaboration between students.

Smart interactive whiteboard in EFL class at Islamic university

This research aims to investigate students’ perception of using Smart Interactive Whiteboard in the English as a foreign language (EFL) classroom in the State Islamic University in Jambi city. This research employs a quantitative survey method, utilizing a questionnaire as the primary data collection tool. The questionnaire consisted of 26 five-point Lickert-scale items in order to measure the students’ perceptions about (1) Perceived Learning Contribution, (2) Motivation, (3) Perceived Efficiency, and (4) Perceived Negative Effects. The results of the survey show that students like having smart, interactive whiteboards in the classroom. The results show that these technological tools help people learn, get motivated, feel like they are working well, and don't have any bad affects. The combination of audio and visual elements makes it easier to understand and provides a stimulating learning environment. Students also say they are more engaged, focused, involved, and excited about learning. Smart, interactive whiteboards are thought to make classrooms more visible, more organized, and better at keeping track of time. The fact that most students disagree with the idea that these tools have bad results shows that they like using them. Overall, the results show how smart interactive whiteboards can be benefited for positive learning experiences, motivation, efficiency, and student engagement in a positive and pleasant learning atmosphere.

The Use of Scavenger Hunt Game to Promote an English Learning Atmosphere For Young Learners

The learning atmosphere is one aspect that can support success in the learning process. However, to create a good and enjoyable learning atmosphere, teachers must use a technique or strategy that is suitable, one of which is the use of the Scavenger Hunt game. This research aimed to describe the use of a Scavenger Hunt game in promoting the English learning atmosphere which is conducted at MIS Mambaul Islam Soko Tuban. To explain the extent of the Scavenger Hunt game in promoting the English learning atmosphere, the researcher employed a case-study research approach to get more information in detail. The data were collected through the observation and questionnaire. The population of this research was the fifth-grade students of MIS Mambaul Islam Soko Tuban in the academic year 2023/2024 which consisted of 24 students. The result showed that the use of the Scavenger Hunt game was effective in promoting the English learning atmosphere evidenced by the fulfillment of good and positive Atmosphere learning criteria after the implementation of the Scavenger Hunt game.

Path modeling of factors that predict self-regulated learning

Students can encounter significant challenges when transitioning from high school to university. Students must possess the necessary skills to adjust to the self-directed learning atmosphere of the university, however frequently lack the ability to take responsibility for their own learning. This study employs path-modeling techniques to investigate and analyze the multifaceted relationships between various factors, that can predict self-regulated learning as they impact learners' academic achievements in higher education settings, as informed by an extensive review of existing literature. The population for this study were university undergraduates using a researcher-designed questionnaire for data collection. The data collected was modelled reflectively using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Results show that the measurement model assessment showed strong reliability and convergent validity of the latent constructs. However, only technology significantly predicted self-regulated learning as contributing to students' academic success in higher education. The findings from this study contribute significantly to understanding the nuanced pathways through which various learning indicators interact to predict students' self-regulation as influencing students' academic performance in the higher education space. Insights gained from the analysis offer valuable implications for relevant stakeholders aimed at fostering properly tailored conduct that enhances students' academic success in higher education.

Movies as Tools for Enhancing ESL Learning: Insights into Students’ Emotions and Experiences

Numerous studies have reported that ESL students often struggle with poor motivation, low self-confidence, and high levels of anxiety. Watching movies has a strong potential to ignite these students’ interest in learning English, thereby enhancing their language learning journey. However, integrating movies into language learning is only effective if it positively impacts students’ anxiety, motivation and self-confidence. This study explores university students’ emotional factors along with their experiences to determine whether movies enhance their language learning. An online questionnaire via Google Forms was distributed to 76 participants, including 43 students from the LG241 program (Malay Language for Professional Communication) and 33 from the LG242 program (Arabic Language for Professional Communication) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam. Data were extracted and analysed using SPPS version 29 via descriptive statistics. Results showed that movies created a calm and non-intimidating learning atmosphere, fostering increased self-motivation and self-esteem while reducing anxiety. Students also reported improved language skills, as movies provided real-life examples of English usage and immersive learning environments. This study demonstrates that integrating movies into English lessons can improve students’ emotions and experiences, making language learning more effective. Collecting ESL students’ feedback on using movies for language learning helps educators identify areas for improvement. By incorporating students’ perspectives, educators can develop more effective teaching methods, ultimately enhancing the learning experience through unconventional means.

AN IMPACT OF GAME-BASED TEACHING ON VOCABULARY LEARNING OF THIRD GRADE STUDENTS IN SHENZHEN QIANHAI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

This research discussed game-based teaching in third-grade English as an entry point and proposed corresponding teaching strategies for existing problems. The objectives of this research were: 1) to find out the impact of game-based teaching on the English vocabulary learning of the third-grade students in Shenzhen Qianhai Elementary School; and 2) to find out the satisfaction level of third-grade elementary school students with the use of game-based teaching methods to improve their English learning. This study aims to inspire third-grade English educators. According to the analysis of the data using SPSS, the results revealed that the average of mean scores was 3.66 and the average of S.D. was 0.71, with the highest mean score (=4.0) and the lowest score (=3.50), while the highest S.D. was 0.85 and the lowest S.D. was 0.53. Then, by looking closely at how English is taught through games in third-grade classrooms now and finding the problems teachers are having putting it into practice, several major problems become clear. These include teachers' biased views of game-based teaching, teachers' haphazard use of game methods, a lack of variety and newness in game materials, and students who aren't interested enough. Building upon these findings, the research proposes tailored teaching strategies aligned with the learning characteristics of third-grade students and the demands of the English curriculum. These strategies include meticulous preplanning to ensure the suitability of game teaching, providing moderate guidance to enhance student participation and engagement, fostering interactive learning atmospheres through verbal and non-verbal exchanges, and facilitating post-game reflection to stimulate critical thinking and optimize teaching effectiveness.

Implementing crossword puzzles using crosswordlabs.com in the campus program teaching at an elementary school

Islamic religious education learning is an important part of the educational curriculum that aims to form a good understanding, values and attitudes towards Islamic teachings. In order to increase student participation and change the learning atmosphere, it is necessary to use engaging learning media. One of the most widely used and practical media is crossword puzzles. This study aims to describe or explain the students’ responses towards the use of crossword media in Islamic religious education learning at SDN Kesamben II Plumpang. The research method is qualitative descriptive research. The data were obtained through direct observation, interviews, and analysis of documents related to the use of crossword media in Islamic religious education learning. The research participants consisted of thirty students of fourth, fifth, and sixth grade learning Islamic religious education at SDN Kesamben II Plumpang. The result shows that the use of crossword puzzle media in Islamic religious education learning has several advantages and has a positive impact on students’ learning activities. It can be concluded that the use of crossword media can be an alternative that attracts students to learn Islamic religious education.

Pengaruh Management Etika dalam Lingkungan PIAUD Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Ibnu Ruysd Kotabumi

This research aims to examine the influence of ethical management on the learning environment in Early Childhood Education (PIAUD). Good ethical management is thought to be able to create a positive, safe learning environment and support children's holistic development. The research method used is a quantitative method with a survey design. The population of this study were all teachers and parents of students at PIAUD Husnul Amal Kotabumi. Samples are taken randomly from the population., Data was collected using a questionnaire consisting of questions about ethical management and the learning environment. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics and linear regression to test the effect of ethical management on the learning environment. The research results show that ethical management has a positive and significant influence on the learning environment in PIAUD. Teachers who consistently apply ethical values ​​in teaching and interacting with students succeed in creating a learning atmosphere that is more comfortable, safe and supports children's development. These findings indicate that good ethical management is an important factor in creating a conducive learning environment in PIAUD., This research suggests that PIAUD managers implement clear ethics policies and carry out strict supervision to ensure their implementation. Apart from that, training for teachers regarding the importance of ethics in education is also recommended to improve the quality of the learning environment.

Enhancing Students’ Ability in Composing a Well-Developed Paragraph through Social Constructive Learning Facilitated by Peer-Assessment

A social constructive learning refers to a context used to build a collaborative learning atmosphere to have in-depth learning by empowering students’ performances and progress cooperatively. It is needed to upgrade students’ proficiency in delivering an idea through a written expression. Therefore, the students can build up their writing ability constructively. This is a descriptive qualitative study that is used to explore a meaningful learning experience in a paragraph writing class using peer-assessment. This research involved 23 students at the second semester of the English department of State Islamic Study of Ponorogo. The data were gathered from a performance test of all the participants, supported by the data derived from interviews, and documentation was also conducted to support the data of the students’ ability in writing. The data were analyzed interactively through (1) data reduction; (2) data display; and (3) conclusion. The results of the study showed that the students were triggered to rearrange their writing confidently because their peers showed their weaknesses and gave suggestions on their mistakes. It boosted the students to write better, so that, the students could produce the expected paragraph writing outcome after they were actively upgrading performances in writing through ongoing learning. Hence, the students were directed to elaborate their writing ability through interactive, constructive, and reflective activities. This paper was aimed at describing the implementation of social constructive learning in a paragraph writing class mediated by the use of peer-assessment. The implication of this study is to promote the students to learn paragraph writing faster since this learning triggered the students have experiences in learning together by checking, sharing, solving, and formulating a solution.
