New tripartite entangled state generated by an asymmetric beam splitter and a parametric down-conversion amplifier

In three-mode Fock space we construct a new tripartite entangled state |α, γθλ which makes up a new quantum mechanical representation. The state |α, γθλ can be generated by using the set-up composed of an asymmetric beam splitter and a parametric down-conversion amplifier. We then show how to use |α, γθλ to find new squeezing operator and new squeezed state.

Continuum variable entangled state generated by an asymmetric beam splitter

For an asymmetric beam-splitter a new kind of entangled state \(\left| \eta ,\theta \right\rangle \) is introduced, we then derive the integration measure with which such states can make up a complete and orthonormal representation in two-mode Fock space. We then show how to use \(\left| \eta ,\theta \right\rangle \) in finding new squeezing operator and new squeezed state, whose generation can relies on the asymmetric beamsplitter.

Loophole-free four photon EPR experiment

A loophole-free four photon EPR experiment requiring only 67% detection efficiency which prepares independent photons in a nonmaximal singlet-like spin state by means of an asymmetrical beam splitter is proposed. The experiment does not suffer from the usual poor net detection efficiency and can therefore serve to close the low detection efficiency, the no enhancement, and the spacelike separation loopholes.

Closure of the enhancement and detection loopholes in the Bell theorem by the fourth order interference with photons of different colours

A loophole-free Bell experiment requiring detection efficiency as low as 67% is proposed. The experiment uses different frequency photon interference of fourth order at an asymmetrical beam splitter and a resulting non-maximal entanglement.

Jones’s Matrix Representation of Optical Instruments I: Beam Splitters

A general method is provided for constructing Jones's reflection and transmission matrices of any beam splitter. Derivations are presented for the various known configurations. The method uses Abelès's matrices and pays special consideration to the different expressions of Jones's matrices relative to the various beams in an interferometric arrangement. The reversibility of the beam splitter in its action on the amplitude or phase, or both, of an incident light is studied. It is finally suggested that, even for an asymmetric beam splitter configuration, the symmetry of the interferogram can still be preserved by adjusting the thickness of the beam splitter in a prescribed manner.
