The title of this research is ’’Management infrastructure to improve competency of vocational students in Bandung.’’ (case of study research qualitative in SMK Pasundan 1 and SMK Bina Warga Bandung) This research as background with the fact at field which indicate cause low score of vocational high school students in Bandung with the score of UNBK 7, 2 is the cause of factor less infrastructure at the school, management means of infrastructure do not complete have consequence isn’t develop even descend of student competence in the major or skill program in that school. Low in the student’s practice score, could reach low of student compatitative ability in Bandung, that impact from management infrastructure uncompleted. The research purpose for knowing illustration of planning, implementation, evaluation, problem and solve the problem faced in management infrastructure to increase students of vocational high school competence in Bandung. Study as base in this research consist of base philosopycal, the rule of Permindiknas number 40, 2008 period about standard infrastructure in SMA/MAK theories specialists about management and student of SMK competition too. The research method used is descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The objects of the research are SMK Pasundan 1 and SMK Bina Warga Bandung, data obtained through observation techniques, documentation studies, and interviews. The Research results that can be decomposed based on research objectives, including description of the results at two research sites, in terms of planning in accordance with the vision, mission, strategy, and school policies, the implementation of infrastructure management is in accordance with the expected planning although there are still mismatches in several aspects facilities especially the fulfillment of their respective vocational labs, the evaluation of the process of infrastructure management is carried out by the principal or vice-principal, while the assessment of student competencies is carried out by the teacher authentically including attitudes, knowledge and skills competencies including practice exams and theories known as competency test, with different results at the two study sites. the problems faced include the availability of incomplete vocational books, infrastructure in the form of vocational practice laboratories incomplete, hospitality practice tools that are still very minimal, including land and not too extensive, resulting in ineffective student learning activities, especially student practice development activities. The solution carried out by the school, the process of teaching and learning of students into two parts, namely the morning and afternoon, resulting in full day classes. Furthermore, carrying out the TEFA program or industrial class that is being echoed by the government, the next solution is to create a digital library, a literacy corner, there is an ebook that can be downloaded directly so that the area of ​​the land is not a problem for the development of increasing the competency of vocational students in Bandung.

Evaluating Person-Centered Competencies: The Nurse Practitioner Student Competency Assessment (NPSCA)

Nurse practitioner education is transitioning to competency-based assessment. The application of a competency-based assessment framework is intended to create standards across academic programs and support the development of practice-ready graduates. Psychometrically sound instruments that assess competencies are scarce. The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties and the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning combined expertise to develop the Nurse Practitioner Student Competency Assessment instrument to assess attainment of nurse practitioner student person-centered care competencies. The rationale for this effort, the process for instrument testing, the timeline for dissemination, and suggestions for future opportunities are discussed.

K 대학교 핵심역량에 관한 종단 연구

This study aims to track the change process of core competencies of college students over time using the longitudinal data of the core competencies of students at K University. For the purpose of this study, 1,639 students enrolled in the 2019 academic year of K University who enrolled for 8 consecutive semesters were analyzed. The survey data used the scores for each FACE competency of four talent traits, namely Frontiership(F), Atruism(A), Culture(C), and Expertise(E) accumulated in the student competency assessment system. As a result of the analysis, students who were admitted through the occasional screening, in which students are selected by comprehensively evaluating their potential and personality in addition to their academic ability, obtained high competency scores in the Frontiership(F) area and Alturism(A) area, and the students who entered the regular screening based on merit-based selection obtained high competency scores in the Culture(C) area and the Expertise(E) area. Through this study, core competencies can be viewed as other forms of learning outcomes, and discriminatory learning outcomes according to gender and typical types were identified. It is hoped that this study will help in the development of customized curricula and extracurricula and in the formulation of university policies.

Strengthened the Concept of Numerical Literacy for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teachers Through Technical Guidance Follow-Up of Competency Assessment Results of Indonesian Students

The description of AKMI results needs to be conveyed to MI teachers so they can be used as a reference in developing numeracy literacy learning in class. In developing numeracy literacy learning, teachers need a good understanding and skills about numeracy literacy. So that it is necessary to strengthen the concept of numeracy literacy for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teachers through technical guidance following up on the results of the Indonesian Student Competency Assessment. This activity consists of lectures, discussions, questions and answers with teachers; collaboration and discussion between teachers and other teachers; and demonstration/practice. The partners involved in this activity were Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teachers in Magelang Regency, Central Java, totalling 31 people. This activity ran smoothly, was interactive, and the participants were enthusiastic. Many participants took the pre-test and post-test, as many as 29 people. There was an increase of 27 people, although it has yet to occur significantly. In contrast, as many as two people are still at the same value—as many as 29 people have done peer teaching. Thus, there was an increase in participants' knowledge and skills regarding numeracy literacy.

THE MUTUAL-BENEFIT PARTNERSHIP MANAGEMENT MODEL FOR VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS AND WORK/INDUSTRY SECTOR

This study aims to: (1) explore information related to the partnership management model currently in Vocational Schools (VHS); and (2) creating a partnership management model expected by the industry and work sector. The research method used was an instrumental case study. The subject of this research was VHS, and the industry and work sector and the data was collected through interviews, documentation, and observation. The data analysis technique used was ATLAS.ti 9 software and the validation was carried out by triangulation through Chief Section of Vocational School and the other related Vocational Schools. The results of the study indicated that (1) the partnership management model currently in Vocational Schools was still limited to planning, implementing, and evaluating students; and (2) the management model desired by the industry and work sector included guidelines for partnership, education and training standards, student guidance systems, skills testing standards, and student competency assessment standards. Therefore, it is essential that the government issue regulations or laws that bind the world of work in realizing the partnership between VHS and world of work. Then, schools should involve the world of work in collaborative management so that there is an integration between what the school expects and the results obtained by students. The world of work should help realize the role of VHS through a structured partnership programs aiming mutual benefit suitable to the needs of world of work

Strategies for Teaching Suicide Content in Social Work Education: A Survey of Social Work Instructors

ABSTRACT Suicide is a major public health issue in the United States and schools of social work have an important role to play in educating future social workers in suicide prevention. This article describes the results of a survey of BSW and MSW practice instructors (N = 259) exploring the strategies used to teach suicide content, including resources used to support their teaching and assignments to evaluate student competency with suicide prevention knowledge and skills. Most instructors (74.1%) use written resources such as practice textbooks and journal articles to support their teaching, although there are some differences between the practices of BSW versus MSW instructors. Fewer (34.0%) used an assessment of student competency working with clients with suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Implications for social work practice instructors are described, including the need to stay current on best practices in suicide assessment and intervention, expand the use of written resources for diverse groups, the use of culture in suicide assessment, maintaining up-to-date, current resources for students, and developing assignments which can effectively evaluate student competency and skill working with clients with suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

Undergraduate paramedic student competency assessment: A grounded theory study explaining how assessors in Australia and New Zealand determine student competency to practice

Purpose: With the transition of paramedic education from a vocational training platform to an academic environment, the absence of a standardised paramedic university curriculum has resulted in little congruity in assessment, including expectations regarding competency assessment. The application of differing standards in assessment processes in undergraduate paramedic programmes has raised questions regarding the competence of graduates. Aim: This research aimed to discover how paramedic assessors in academia and ambulance services determine the professional competence of undergraduate paramedic students within Australia and New Zealand. Methods and analysis: Glaserian Grounded Theory (GGT) was chosen as the methodology as it describes an experience or problem and provides a means of understanding what is happening in the area of interest. Twenty-two paramedic assessors participated in the enquiry. Theoretical sampling directed methods of data collection which included interviews and the use of literature and professional documents. In keeping with GT, constant comparative analysis was used to analyse data. Results: Three categories emerged from the analysis. These are engaging, measuring and moderating. Commonalities and interaction between these categories confirm the presence of the Basic Social Process ‘aligning’ and associated concepts and properties inherent in the emergent substantive theory Paramedic Assessment Process. Conclusion: PAP describes and explains the process that academics and on-road paramedics employ to assess the practice competence of paramedic students and highlights situations that raise concern about assessment practices that may compromise the rigour and validity of assessment outcomes.

Equity Strategies in the Design of Student Competency Assessment

Introduction. The article presents the current situation of the problem under consideration in the works of Russian and foreign authors. The diffi of assessing competencies as complex, deeply latent and interdisciplinary in nature learning outcomes are considered. The study is relevant due to the need to ensure the reliability of estimates. Its novelty lies in the presentation of an algorithm for the development of competence assessment based on the modelling of the construct and conditions for the manifestation of competencies in the process of students’ activities when performing a complex task.Purpose. A systematic presentation of modern approaches to the authentic assessment of competencies based on the theory and practice of pedagogical measurements and experience in designing and using tools based on models of evidencebased argumentation that ensure the fairness of the evaluation process and the authenticity of the evaluation results.Materials and Methods. As theoretical methods, work with sources, collection, generalization, structuring and analysis of information on existing approaches to assessing the students’ competencies in Russia and abroad were used. In the practical part, the experience of organizing and conducting various forms of evaluation of learning outcomes in the context of competence-based learning of students was used.Results. Modern approaches and mechanisms for designing evaluation tools based on models of reasoned proof of evaluation results based on the theory and practice of pedagogical measurements are proposed. Extended pattern designs have been created for teachers, and developers of assessment tools and procedures, ensuring the authenticity of the results through the analysis and interpretation of data, considering contextual information about the activities of the subjects in the assessment situation.Discussion and Conclusion. The interrelation of the problems of competence assessment with their complexity and interdisciplinarity is analyzed, and an appeal to the models of S. Tulmin and R. Mislevi is proposed in the process of developing evaluation tools. The trends in control development and evaluation activities for the measurement of training quality are shown.

The Mutual-Benefit Partnership Management Model for Vocational High Schools and Work and Industry Sector

The number of students interested in attending Vocational High School (VHS) has increased year by year. However, the quality of graduates is at low level and the unemployment rate of VHS graduates accounts for largest proportion among other levels. According to some previous research, there have been the unemployment of the Business Management Vocational High School graduates. This study aims to: (1) explore information related to the partnership management model currently in Vocational Schools; and (2) creating a partnership management model expected by the industry and work sector. The research method used was an instrumental case study. The object of this research was Methodist Vocational School and Nur Azizi Vocational School, and the industry and work sector. Informants from the school are the principal, vice principal of curriculum, vice principal of student affairs, vice principal of infrastructure and facilities, vice principal of partnership relations, head of expertise program, head of principal, supervising teachers, and teachers of productive subjects. The subject of research in the industry and work sector was the field work practice instructor. Data collection techniques using interviews, documentation, and observation. The data analysis technique used was ATLAS.ti 9 software. The data validation was carried out by triangulation through Chief Section of Vocational School and the other related Vocational Schools. The results of the study indicated that (1) the partnership management model currently in Vocational Schools was still limited to planning, implementing, and evaluating students; and (2) the management model desired by the industry and work sector included guidelines for partnership, education and training standards, student guidance systems, skills testing standards, and student competency assessment standards. Refining the Loop of Continuous Improvement

Academic assessment of student competency is essential to measure learning within a gerontology program. In its self-evaluation, a program must assess its student learning outcomes. JoAnn Damron-Rodriguez et al. (2019, p. 423) proposed a systematic approach that has several levels. The key is to utilize a competency-based education model. Moreover, to satisfy workforce goals the gerontology program must adopt the AGHE competencies that reflect the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to serve older adults at an acceptable level of care. The next step involves generating well-articulated quantitative or qualitative measures of student learning outcomes (SLOs) consistent with the program’s mission statement that include twelve competency domains. SLO measures include test grades, assignments, projects, portfolios, field experiences, essay questions, multiple choice items, and so on. The program’s enhancement loop requires the evaluation of SLOs, faculty discussion of them, and a continuous modification cycle "closing the loop" to reach the program’s goals.

Hierarchical linear modeling for determining the effect of ICT literacy on mathematics achievement

This study aims to identify the effect of ICT literacy on mathematics achievement in grade 8 by using the Indonesian Student Competency Assessment's (Asesmen Kompetensi Siswa Indonesia or AKSI) 2019 questionnaire data. A multistage probability sample of 13,079 students was analyzed using a two-level hierarchical linear model (HLM) which student achievement scores are the first level laid in schools as the second level. The results of the analysis revealed that SES, the number of smartphones and computers that students have at home, the availability of ICT at home and school, the use of ICT for education, and perspective on the benefits of ICT in daily life have a positive influence on mathematics literacy achievement, while the easiness of access to the use of digital devices in schools has negative influence at the student level. At the school level, the high mathematics literacy achievement of students is influenced by the location of the school and the number of certified teachers. School accreditation and completeness of learning facilities in schools are not factors upon better students toward their mathematics literacy achievement. However, the interaction between the easiness of access to the use of digital devices in schools and the completeness of learning facilities in schools have an influence in increasing students' mathematics literacy achievement. Based on the diversity component, it is known that the diversity of students' mathematical literacy achievement explained by the student level and school-level variables are 33.24 and 0.18, respectively.

Responding to emerging needs: Development of adapted performance indicators for physiotherapy student assessment in telehealth

Clinical placements in 2020 have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 global pandemic. Ensuring that effective clinical placement opportunities continue during this time remains the priority of the Clinical Education Managers Australia and New Zealand (CEMANZ). Supporting educators to assess student competency when service delivery models are altered to embrace telehealth services, has been integral to achieving this. Telehealth has been widely adopted to maintain services and contact with patients during the pandemic. Physiotherapy clinical educators voiced concern about the applicability of the Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice (APP) tool in this emerging learning environment and sought guidance from University Clinical Education Managers. This paper describes representative consensus across Universities regarding use of the Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice (APP) tool and the development of adapted APP performance indicators for use in telehealth. Clinical educators can use these adapted performance indicators to guide assessment of student competency for students completing placements in a telehealth setting.

PELAKSANAAN PROGRAM KAMPUS MENGAJAR PERINTIS PADA SEKOLAH DASAR TERDAMPAK PANDEMI COVID-19

The Pioneer Teaching Campus is a form of student concern for the education of elementary school students both in villages and cities, who are currently experiencing very uncomfortable conditions due to the pandemic. The purpose of implementing the Perintis Teaching Campus program is to empower students to assist the teaching process at elementary schools around the village / city where they live. The research method used is a qualitative approach with observation techniques. From the observations it can be concluded that the first program implemented, namely training on the adaptation of online learning technology for UPT SDN 59 Gresik students went well. The offline learning process method that will be applied is the use of video media projector technology for student thematic learning, the use of the Quizizz application for student evaluation work, as well as introducing AKSI (Indonesian Student Competency Assessment) and the Learning Module from the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Best Practices in Suicide Pedagogy: A Quantitative Content Analysis

The authors used a quantitative content analysis methodology to explore the available literature on pedagogical practices for teaching counselors how to work with suicidal clients. From an initial pool of 71 potentially applicable articles found in Counseling, Psychiatry, general mental health, Psychology, and Social Work journals, 26 articles were found to meet inclusion criteria by specifically exploring the impact or efficacy of different pedagogical practices relevant to suicide response in counselor training. These 26 articles were coded using quantitative content analysis procedures. Results indicated that more research is necessary to determine best practices for teaching suicide response to counselors in training. Additionally, these training practices should include attention to the CACREP standards and should be theoretically grounded in pedagogical frameworks. Ideally, future research in this area would focus more heavily on assessment of student competencies and how well students are prepared to respond to suicide.

The Effect of Global Awareness on Students' Reading Skill Based on Aksi Data

The Indonesian Student Competency Assessment (Asesmen Kompetensi Siswa Indonesia-AKSI) is a national survey aims to monitor the quality of education system across provinces. The results of the AKSI are expected to provide inputs on policies to improve the quality of learning outcomes in particular and the quality of education in general. The objective of AKSI is to measure students’ cognitive abilities, which include science, mathematics and reading. In addition, AKSI also collects data through questionnaires, one of which is about Global Awareness. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of student gender, parent’s education level, interest studying other cultures, adaptability and communication, understanding of global problems, tolerance, environmental awareness and school quality on students’ reading literacy skill. The data used in this study are data from the 2019 AKSI survey of 15.738 grade IX students and school accreditation of 1.805 junior high schools in Indonesia. The results of parameter estimation and hypothesis testing using the multilevel regression model concluded that gender, father's education, adaptability and communication skills, understanding of global problems, tolerance of religious and cultural differences and school quality affect students’ reading ability.

Implementing a Real-time Workplace-based Assessment Data Collection System Across an Entire Medical School's Clinical Learning Environment.

Background & Objectives: Workplace-based assessments (WBAs) are a vital aspect of medical student competency assessment for the core Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs), but pose significant challenges since assessment must occur in real-time during the routine care of patients. We developed an online WBA system designed to overcome these challenges, and implemented it across an entire undergraduate medical education program to address the need for EPA competency assessment. We describe the development and implementation process, and present initial results from our inaugural medical student cohort. Methods: The WBA tool was designed to be student-driven, easy to use, and minimally disruptive to clinical care. Students trigger assessments by choosing the desired EPA to be assessed within a custom-built Qualtrics XM survey application. Their clinical assessor is prompted to select their level of involvement in the activity using the modified Ottawa co-activity scale and provide brief written feedback. Direct verbal feedback at time of discussion is encouraged. Results: 3,568 WBAs were completed. The mean number of assessments per student for all EPAs combined was 24.27 with a range of 1-103. All students completed at least one WBA. Over the course of 12 months, the mean number of EPAs recorded per student in this cohort was lowest for EPA 10 (Recognizing a Patient Requiring Urgent or Emergent Care and Initiate Evaluation and Management) (mean=0.36; range 0-4; n=53) and was highest for EPA 6 (Provide an Oral Presentation for a Clinical Encounter) (mean=5.46; range 1-17; n=803). The mean number of minutes it took to complete the assessments was 2.7 minutes with a standard deviation of 1.2 minutes (n=2,803). Conclusion: An electronic application-based survey collecting real-time WBAs to assess progress toward attaining competence in EPA performance resulted in increased assessment data within a medical school cohort.

토픽모델링을 활용한 국내외 수학교육 평가 연구 동향 분석

Research into assessments in mathematics education has broadened from summative assessments focusing on students achievement to those focusing on students’ cognition, curriculum, teaching and learning, teacher knowledge and quality, and affective domains. Considering these changes in assessment research, we examined the characteristics of domestic assessment research in mathematics education by comparing 237 articles published in KCI journals with 857 articles published in SSCI journals from 2000 to 2020 August. We used LDA topic modeling to examine research trends over time. The findings indicated that there were different keyword distributions by period between domestic and international mathematics education journals. There were nineteen research topics in both journals; five topics were similar while nine topics were different. In addition, the hot topics in international and domestic mathematics education journals were found to be curriculum assessment and student competency assessment, respectively. Based on these findings, we discussed practical implications for the development of assessment research in domestic mathematics education.

E-portfolios and Entrustable Professional Activities to support competency-based education in dietetics.

The concept of Entrustable Professional Activities, recently pioneered in medical education, has emerged to support the implementation of competency-based education. Although competency-based frameworks are widely used in healthcare professional education to develop outcomes-based curricula, assessment of student competency in professional placement settings remains challenging. The novel concept of Entrustable Professional Activities together with established methods of competency assessment, namely e-portfolios and self-assessment, was implemented in the "[La Trobe University Dietetic program in 2015-2016. This study aimed to appraise the e-portfolio and evaluate the use of Entrustable Professional Activities to assess competence. A mixed-methods evaluation, using qualitative and quantitative surveys with follow-up structured consultations, was conducted with final year dietetics students and their supervisors. Dietetics students were comfortable with Entrustable Professional Activities and competency-based assessment, whereas supervisors preferred Entrustable Professional Activity based assessment. All stakeholders valued student self-assessment and the ongoing use of structured e-portfolios to develop and document competency. The use of structured e-portfolios, student self-assessment, and the emerging concept of Entrustable Professional Activities are useful tools to support dietetics student education in professional placement settings.

Assessing Competence of Undergraduate Paramedic Student Practice: A Preliminary Evaluation of the Australasian Paramedic Competency Assessment Tool

Introduction With the recent introduction of registration for paramedics, and an absence of assessment tools that align undergraduate paramedic student practice to competency standards, this pilot study undertook to develop and evaluate a competency assessment tool designed to provide a standardised approach to student competency assessment. This paper reports the first part of a two-part enquiry evaluating the efficacy of the Australasian Paramedic Competency Assessment Tool (APCAT) to assess the practice competency of undergraduate paramedic students. Methods With a focus on gathering professional opinion to evaluate the usability of the tool and inform its development, a mixed methods methodology including a survey and open-ended questions were used to gather data from paramedic educators and on-road assessors in Australia and New Zealand. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and content analysis. Results The outcome of the evaluation was positive, indicating that 81% agreed or strongly agreed that the tool was user-friendly; 71% believed that expectations of student performance and the grading system was clear; 70% found year level descriptors reflected practice expectations; and 66% believed that the resource manual provided adequate guidance. Conclusion The APCAT is simple and aligns student practice expectations with competency standards. Results indicate the support for a consistent approach for assessment of undergraduate paramedic student competence. Further research will be undertaken to determine the efficacy of using this tool to assess students in the clinical setting.
