The article presents the results of a study devoted to some substantiation of the relationship between the composition of resources and the resource potential of the service sector. Based on the study of a number of works devoted to the analysis of the resource potential of the service sector, the article concludes that the interpretation of the resource potential of the service sector is ambiguous, as well as the lack of uniform approaches to determining the structure of the resource potential of the service sector. The scientific article proposes the author’s interpretation of the term resource potential of the service sector, on the basis of which a new vision of the relationship between the composition of resources and the resource potential of the service sector is presented. The study concludes that the processes of formation of resources in the service sector, as well as the processes of building and using resource potential, are a rather complex multifaceted process that requires a systematic approach and accounting, and the presented diagram of the relationship between the composition of resources and the resource potential of the service sector will allow a more reasonable approach to assessing resource potential of the subject of the service sector, and can also serve as an auxiliary tool in the development of organizational development strategies

METHODICAL APPROACHES TO THE ASSESSMENT OF RESOURCE POTENTIAL AND THEIR IMPACT ON THE TRANSPORT SYSTEM OF UKRAINE

Today, the transport system plays a vital role in ensuring the socioeconomic development of the country, and it optimizes various flow processes related to transportation. The effectiveness of the functioning of the transport system depends on the use of organizational and innovative reserves, which acquires particular importance in countering Russian aggression. The destruction of the infrastructure, which is observed in Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion, additionally actualizes the need to study issues related to the development of the transport system and the restoration of transport potential to ensure production processes and systematize flow processes in the socioeconomic sphere. The purpose of writing the article is the process of forming methodical approaches to assessing resource potential and their impact on the transport system of Ukraine. The proposed methodical approaches to the evaluation of the relationships between the parameters of the transport potential of Ukraine are based on the interpretation of the category “transport potential” by distinguishing its main parameters – resource provision and functioning results, between which there is a relationship, namely: the level of resource provision forms the operating results. Resource support is proposed to be characterized by statistical indicators that reflect material, human, and investment resources, and the results of functioning – by the value measurement of the volume of products sold by the type of economic activity “Transport, warehousing, postal and courier activities”. A correlation dependence between the volume of products sold in the transport system and the corresponding indicators of resource provision has been proven. It has been proven that capital investments have the most significant influence on the increase in the value of the results of the functioning of the transport sector. The functional form of the constructed correlation equations creates an economic-mathematical assessment of the actual state of the impact of material, human, and investment resources on the results of the functioning of the transport sector. Also, it provides an opportunity to structure resources to achieve the desired result and form forecasts of the development of the transport industry. It is possible to develop further the proposed methodical approaches in developing mechanisms for stimulating the gradual modernization of Ukraine’s transport system, which will be especially relevant in the post-war reconstruction of the country’s infrastructure and economy.

Concurrent 21. Presentation for: Conceptual model of the Lower Permian Kingia Sandstone (northern Perth Basin, Western Australia) as an alternative energy resource

Presented on Thursday 19 May: Session 21 The geothermal potential of the Kingia aquifer in the northern Perth Basin has been identified. In order to further assess resource potential, the occurrence, conditions, and properties of the Kingia Sandstone have been considered further. A new regional correlation supports the Kingia Sandstone being a regionally extensive unit deposited along the northern margin of the syn-depositional Dandaragan Trough. The unit is part of a falling-stage to lowstand system containing lower and upper shoreface, coastal, beach, and estuarine sands. Gross Kingia Sandstone thickness varies from 16 m on flanking terraces to at least 71 m in the basin depocenter. At depth, reservoir properties are preserved where iron-rich clay grain coatings inhibit cementation and preserve primary porosity. In such cases, net reservoir ranges from 3 to 58 m thick (18 m mean) and net porosity range is 12–19 p.u. (15 p.u. mean). The prevailing geothermal gradient is ~37°C/km with heat flow in excess of 90 mW/m2. Resultant Kingia aquifer temperatures exceed 115°C. Given the presence of hot, porous Kingia aquifer, the potential for geothermal power generation is strong. Production of Kingia brine to surface facilities allows for power conversion via established binary Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology. A scalable Kingia opportunity could help to meet Western Australia’s decarbonisation aspirations by contributing to the replacement of coal-fired and gas-fired power plants, plus supply of low-carbon power to local urea, hydrogen, and gas projects. An enhanced understanding of Kingia porosity distribution, reservoir compartmentalisation, flow performance, and ultimate energy delivery remain key uncertainties subject to future de-risking activities. Comprehensive approach to assessing resource potential of rural territories (on the materials of the ishim district of the Tyumen region)

The article is devoted to the topical problem of rational and efficient use of rural areas. The development of rural areas depends on many factors: natural and climatic, socio-economic, environmental pollution, anthropogenic factors, etc. An integrated approach will determine the integral potential of the municipal district. Today, a comprehensive methodology is widely used in order to cover as many indicators as possible for a more detailed study of the current situation. The point score does not always reflect the required level of detail of the feature. Under the score, information is encoded that characterizes the feature to one degree or another. When using a point scale, components identical in characteristics are formed into one group. The methodology of an integrated approach to the assessment of rural areas has not been sufficiently studied, and it is also necessary to develop a set of measures to increase investment attractiveness, which will make it possible to make the right organizational and managerial decisions at the regional and local levels.

Методика интегральной оценки ресурсного потенциала сельскохозяйственных организаций региона

Abstract. Purpose. The article tests the methodology of determining an integral indicator of the resource potential of agricultural organizations of the Kurgan region in the context of districts. Based on the results obtained, internal and external threats were systematized according to the functional components of the resource potential, which will make it possible to develop the right set of actions to overcome or level them, as well as the need to find new approaches to increasing investment attractiveness, especially in rural areas. The purpose of the proposed methodology is to assess resource potential, identify threats and determine investment-attractive territories by the types of investments attracted (private, public). Methodology and methods. The methodology is based on the assessment of the following types of functional components of the resource potential: land, labor, material, innovative, financial. For each type, a system of indicators was selected that reflect the state and effectiveness of their functioning. In order to avoid accidental fluctuations, a sample of indicators for 3 years was made with subsequent averaging. Each indicator system undergoes a normalization procedure. All this makes it possible to bring the system of heterogeneous indicators to a single foundation, and, therefore, makes it possible to integrate their influences. Taking into account the significance of each indicator participating in the calculation, an integral assessment is formed for each group of indicators, and then, by simple summation, an integral indicator of the resource potential. Results and scope. The methodology was tested according to the annual reporting of agricultural organizations of the Kurgan region. The sample was made for three years in the regions of the region. The calculations make it possible to arrange the territories according to the level of resource potential and its functional components. Moreover, the methodology allows you to identify the weakest aspects of resource potential, and, therefore, to correctly develop a set of measures to eliminate threats and determine investment-attractive territories by the types of investments attracted (private, public). Scientific novelty. The advantage of this approach is the ability to determine the level of resource potential of both an individual business entity and a certain territory. Moreover, the system of indicators included in the model may vary depending on the purpose of the study, the composition of the functional components. The mathematical tools used, the information base make the technique available for use, conducting analytical studies.

A dual-porosity model for evaluating petroleum resource potential in unconventional tight-shale plays with application to Utica Shale, Quebec (Canada)

Unconventional tight to shale reservoirs vary from tight sandstone/siltstone to organic-rich mudstone/shale, commonly with mixed lithologies. In such reservoir systems, matrix pores and organic pores with different origins and distinct physical and chemical properties co-exist for hydrocarbon storage. Traditional resource assessment methods, designed for conventional reservoirs, cannot handle the two pore systems properly. This study proposes a dual-porosity model to respond to the need for a new method in assessing hydrocarbon resource potential in such reservoir systems. The dual-porosity model treats the two types of pores separately and derives the resource estimates from different sources of data, thus better characterizing unconventional reservoirs with complicated pore systems. The new method also has the flexibility of assessing resource potential for the entire spectrum of mixed lithologies ranging from a complete tight to a pure source rock (organic–rich shale/mudstone) reservoir. The proposed method is illustrated through the assessment of the in-place petroleum resource potential in the Upper Ordovician Utica Shale of southern Quebec, Canada. The results of the application suggest that the proposed approach effectively handles the two pore systems in tight-shale reservoirs effectively and provides a useful tool for estimating resource potential in unconventional plays.

Encouraging renewable energy in the offshore environment

Traditionally, offshore energy exploitation has occurred through production of fossil fuels. However, increasing attention is being focused on various forms of offshore renewable energy as it can reduce fossil fuel emissions, create green jobs, lead to local economic returns for coastal communities, and facilitate movement towards a low-carbon economy. Recent research indicates the presence of significant offshore energy in the form of winds, waves, currents, and tides. Spurred by the promising potential of these resources and an improving policy environment, efforts are under way in different offshore areas to assess resource potential, examine various technical approaches, and install renewable energy devices. Obstacles to development of this industry remain, and include technical difficulties, potential environmental impacts, and lack of funding. These obstacles must be overcome before the industry can become a viable alternative to carbon-based energy sources. Policy alternatives to overcome these obstacles, to stimulate offshore renewable energy development, and to level the playing field for these resources are discussed.

Choosing and evaluating sites for tidal current development

Tidal energy has been used since Roman times, although the use of tidal currents as a possible industrial energy source is a more modern concept. Unlike wind power, however, there is still no consensus on the most appropriate technology for resource exploitation. Similarities with wind power can cause errors of interpretation, especially when attempting to assess resource potential. The energy availability estimates that have been produced have, until now, only taken account of the apparent current flow speeds before the extraction of energy. As demonstrated in this paper, this may not be appropriate, especially for large energy extraction rates, which alter the underlying hydraulic nature of the flow environment. In a simple hypothetical channel linking two infinite oceans, a maximum extraction of 10 per cent of the apparent raw kinetic flux would appear to be acceptable. The limitations on sea loch type environments may, however, be less restrictive.
