Key performance indicators to inform evaluation of wound care programmes for people with complex wounds: a protocol for systematic review.

The objective of the systematic review is to examine and summarise the available evidence in the literature of the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) to inform evaluation of wound care programmes and services for people with hard-to-heal (complex) wounds. The need for wound care is expected to grow with the continued ageing of the population and the resulting increased development of chronic conditions. This expected increase necessitates improvement of wound care programmes and services and their ability to deliver quality, evidence-based and cost-effective practice. The current literature lacks a systematic assessment of KPIs to inform evaluation of wound care services and programmes across various settings, and how the KPIs are used to improve the quality of wound care and achieve desired outcomes. This protocol sets out how the systemtic review will be undertaken. Primary studies will be screened from databases such as MEDLINE, CINAHL and Scopus, with unpublished studies and grey literature retrieved from Google Scholar and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses. The study titles and abstracts will be screened by two independent reviewers, using Covidence systematic review software to ensure they meet the inclusion criteria, who will then proceed with data extraction of the full-text using the standardised data extraction instrument. The reference lists of all studies selected for critical appraisal will be screened for additional publications. The two independent reviewers will critically appraise all studies undergoing full-text data extraction using the appropriate checklist from JBI SUMARI. At all stages, differences between reviewers will be resolved through discussion, with adjudication by a third, independent reviewer. Data points will be analysed with descriptive statistics and grouped, based on programme characteristics and publication status. Grey literature and peer-reviewed publications will form separate analyses. To answer review questions, the data will be summarised in a narrative format. A meta-analysis is not planned. At the time of writing, this protocol has been implemented up to the preliminary literature search. This review will address a current literature gap and systematically identify KPIs in wound care, allowing for programmes to evaluate their quality of care and improve their services in a methodical manner.

Ranking of asset maintenance process KPIs using Fermatean fuzzy Delphi and Fermatean fuzzy ELECTRE method

The paper aims to present a hybrid model for measuring the performance of business processes in complex organizations based on the subjective decision-making of expert teams. The subject of the research is finding ways to measure, analyze and improve the key performance indicators (KPIs) process. Obtaining the values of KPIs, which reflect the real state of the process, creates a basis for their ranking, i.e. insight into KPIs that are extremely important for the process as well as KPIs that are of lesser importance, but as such are not excluded from consideration because they are necessary for the beginning, realization and completion of the process. The model was compiled through five phases and was tested through a case study in a real business organization, which deals with the maintenance of complex combat systems. The obtained results helped the management to take certain measures in order to improve the performance of the maintenance process. In the model, it is proposed to form two expert teams, which make assessments based on experience and express them in linguistic terms according to a predefined scale. Modeling of linguistic expressions is realized using intuitive fuzzy sets of a higher order, more precisely Fermatean fuzzy sets (FFS). Selecting KPIs, decomposing the process into sub-processes and assessing the relative importance of sub-processes is carried out by one team of experts, while another team carries out the assessment of KPIs at the level of each sub-process. Determining the relative importance of sub-processes is realized using the Delphi method extended to FFS while reaching a consensus. The measurement of process performance, i.e. the value of KPIs, is realized using Multi-Criteria Group Decision-Making (MCGDM), such as the ELECTRE method extended with FFS. The sensitivity analysis of the developed model is realized by uncertainty modeling with q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets.

Additionally, the article presents empirical research findings on the multifaceted interactions between marketing initiatives and their target audience, employing diverse communication channels and methodologies. Statistical metrics and graphical representations are employed to elucidate the growth and maturation of the digital marketing field, offering insights into industry-specific trends, geographical variations, and the financial investments committed to this evolving domain. This article also delves into various Internet platforms that have significantly influenced the evolution of digital communications within the realm of commerce. The author systematically elucidates the distinctive approaches adopted by these platforms in advancing digital marketing strategies. Moreover, the article underscores the manifold advantages of digital marketing, with particular emphasis on the substantial reduction in transaction costs and the mitigation of governmental regulatory interference in economic activities. This reduction in regulatory influence is attributed to the emergence and consolidation of novel formal and informal protocols governing both domestic and international online transactions. Furthermore, it is observed that the digitalization of trade has hastened the globalization of economic relations, simplifying trade interactions and eradicating geographical boundaries between nations, particularly in the context of promoting branded products. In addition, the author underscores the critical importance of adhering to specific guidelines to gain a competitive edge through the utilization of digital communication technologies and tools. These guidelines encompass comprehensive knowledge about consumer and buyer behavior, analytical processing of sales data, rigorous assessment of key performance indicators against financial expenditures, optimization of return on invested capital and intellectual resources, and the development of a crisis model that encompasses challenges related to the synergy between financial operations, resource allocation, and marketing activities. Methodologically, this study employs a range of research methodologies including historiographic description, comparative analysis, synthesis of information and opinions, forecasting, tabular and graphical data representation, as well as modeling to elucidate strategic objectives and development trajectories.

Investigation of key performance indicators for performance management of the manufacturing industry in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic

AbstractThe execution of constructive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is a critical tool for the Performance Management (PM) of the manufacturing industry to regulate operations. The companies rely on the PM strategies grounded on conventional KPIs assessment to achieve sustainability although the current dynamic manufacturing environment is undergoing complexities. The KPIs used in the past for PM are not mutually dependent, as they have not been adequately measured and updated to address emergency situations like the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for the Leather Products Industry (LPI). Monitoring of plentiful KPIs is inconceivable and literature is also not available. Realizing these gaps, this study accumulates suggestions from a wide-ranging context of 25 experts’ feedback. Initially, a set of KPI was identified through literature review and experts survey. Later, employing a Pareto analysis, 15 KPIs were identified from 48 KPIs. Then the finalized KPIs investigated utilizing linguistic Z-digits and Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) to find the “Cause-Effect” relationship. An industrial chronology is conferred to demonstrate the potency and functionality of the suggested method. The upshot signifies the “Target fulfillment within the delivery time during COVID-19” as the most important KPI for the studied case. The outcomes will assist the LPI managers to dictate crucial KPIs suitably and flourish the PM in attaining the goals and objectives.

Методическая основа комплексной оценки результативности бизнес-процессов в управлении качеством предприятия

The article explains the specifics of forming a methodology for the comprehensive assessment of key perfor-mance indicators of business processes in quality management. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that the existing methods of foreign and domestic scientists for calculating and evaluating business process indicators do not affect their relationship with the quality management of enterprises and do not describe the procedure for their automation. In addition, the author argues for the methodology of comprehensive assess-ment of key performance indicators of business processes of the quality management system, consisting of several stages: identification of processes, determination of their performance, expert evaluation of indicators, carrying out calculations according to specified formulas. An example of automating the calculation of key per-formance indicators of the business process “monitoring and measurement” of an industrial enterprise is pre-sented. This methodology allows to consider the strengths and weaknesses of the enterprise’s business pro-cesses for further development of corrective action plans to improve the quality management system.

Developing a Comprehensive Quality Control Framework for Roadway Bridge Management: A Case Study Approach Using Key Performance Indicators

Transportation infrastructures, especially roadway bridges, play a pivotal role in socioeconomic development. Recently, bridge engineers are increasingly facing the challenge in terms of shifting their strategy from building new facilities to maintaining the existing aging infrastructures, to preserve their service performance during the operational stage. In fact, the infrastructure administrators lack a quality control (QC) strategy for the existing roadway bridges, which leads to the decision-making application and tool being still minor. To overcome those challenging issues, this paper proposes a quality control framework for roadway bridge management using key performance indicators (KPIs). The case study methodology is suggested to be used and then conducted for several bridges, mostly in European countries. In which the performance indicators (PIs) and goals (PGs) are defined, after assessing the bridges and vulnerable zones, the derivation KPIs from those PIs are introduced and developed considering time functions and different maintenance scenarios. Eventually, a two-stage quality control framework will be proposed in which the static stage includes preparatory works, inspection responsibilities, and a quick assessment of KPIs; while the dynamic stage helps the decision maker in estimating the time remaining of the bridge service life, managing the evolution of KPIs as well as planning the best possible maintenance strategy. The selected two case studies are present and curated, which show the excellent potential to develop a long-term strategy for roadway bridge management on a lifecycle level.

Policy and Strategy Evaluation of Ridesharing Autonomous Vehicle Operation: A London Case Study

To understand the dynamics of an autonomous ridesharing transport mode from the perspectives of different stakeholders, a single model of such a system is essential, because this will enable policymakers and companies involved in the manufacture and operation of shared autonomous vehicles (SAVs) to develop user-centered strategies. The model needs to be based on real data, network, and traffic information and applied to real cities and situations, particularly those with complex public transportation systems. In this paper, we propose a new agent-based model for SAV deployment that enables the parametric assessment of key performance indicators from the perspective of potential SAV users, vehicle manufacturers, operators, and local authorities. This has been applied to a case study of three regions in London: central, inner, and outer. The results show there is no linear correlation between an increased ridesharing acceptance level and average trip duration. Without a fleet rebalancing algorithm, over 80% of SAVs’ energy expenditure is on picking up customers. By reducing pickup distance, SAVs could be a contender for a nonpersonal transportation system based on trip energy comparisons. The results provide a picture of future SAV systems for potential users and offer suggestions as to how operators can devise an optimal transportation strategy beyond the question of fleet size and how policymakers can improve the overall transport network and reduce its environmental impact based on energy consumption. As a result of its flexibility and parametric capability, the model can be utilized to inform any local authority how SAV services could be deployed in any city.

Colonoscopy quality improvement after initial training: A cross-sectional study of intensive short-term training.

Background and study aims High-quality is crucial for the effectiveness of colonoscopy and can be achieved by high-quality training and verified with assessment of key performance indicators (KPIs) for colonoscopy such as cecum intubation rate (CIR), adenoma detection rate (ADR) and adequate polyp resection. Typically, trainees achieve adequate CIR after 275 procedures, but little is known about learning curves for KPIs after initial training. Methods This cross-sectional study includes work-up colonoscopies after a positive screening test with fecal occult blood testing (FIT) or sigmoidoscopy, performed by either trainees after 300 training colonoscopies or by consultants. Outcome measures were KPIs. We assessed inter-endoscopist variation in trainees and learning curves for trainees as a group. We also compared KPIs for trainees and consultants as a group. Results Data from 6,655 colonoscopies performed by 21 trainees and 921 colonoscopies performed by 17 consultants were included. Most trainees achieved target standards for main KPIs. With time, trainees shortened cecum intubation time and withdrawal time without decreasing their ADR, reduced the proportion of painful colonoscopies, and increased the adequate polyp resection rate (all P < 0.01). Compared to consultants, trainees had higher CIR (97.7 % vs. 96.3 %, P = 0.02), ADR after positive FIT (57.6 % vs. 50.3 %, P < 0.01), and proximal ADR after sigmoidoscopy screening (41.1 % vs. 29.8 %; P < 0.01), higher adequate polyp resection rate (94.9 % vs. 93.1 %, P = 0.01) and fewer serious adverse events (0.65 % vs. 1.41 %, P = 0.02). Conclusions Trainees performed high-quality colonoscopies and achieved international target standards. Several KPIs continuously improved after initial training. Trainees outperformed consultants on several KPIs.

Approach to Regional Tourism Potential Assessment in View of Cross-Sectoral Ecosystem Development

The regional tourism industry along with its various components and stakeholders involved in the development of regional tourism products (TP) and the value chain can be interpreted as ecosystems. A concept of creating a regional cross-sectoral ecosystem is presented and described. It brings together all interested parties (actors), including government authorities and various business representatives. The approaches to determining the level of attractiveness of a region for the formation of a tourism ecosystem based on the assessment of its tourism potential (TP) are the research subject. The research methodology presents an algorithm for assessing the tourism ecosystem formation attractiveness through assessment of key performance indicators assessing territorial TP. The purpose of the study is to develop strategic guidelines for increasing the efficiency of using tourism potential to form a regional ecosystem (a case study of the Penza Region). The conducted analysis has highlighted strategies (institutional; business image; cultural and educational; innovation and technology) that determine the key vectors for the development of tourism potential of the Penza Region.

Spatial decision support system for low-carbon sustainable cities development: An interactive storytelling dashboard for the city of Turin

The evaluation of city sustainability considering economic, social, and environmental subsystems is a fundamental field in urban planning. It directly affects the quality of urban economies toward efficiency and innovation with minimal resource consumption. This requires the use of appropriate SDSS (Spatial Decision Support Systems) which take into account inclusive approaches to engage local stakeholders. The study aims at developing an interactive dashboard to aid decision-makers in sustainable urban planning processes to co-create future transition strategies with the employment of spatialized outputs. The dashboard enables the evaluation of the sustainability performance of the city by the selection and assessment of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) as a part of the MOLOC European Interreg Project. The study proposes a multidisciplinary GIS-based framework for the spatial evaluation of KPIs which can support scenario development by providing targeted suggestions for local development planning. Outcomes represent a useful interactive SDSS tool within a storytelling dashboard which is combinable with multi-criteria decision models at the city scale. The spatial distribution of results evidences the strengths and weaknesses of the city and facilitates the implementation of low-carbon action plans, avoiding unnecessary investments. The methodology illustrated was applied to the city of Turin as the case study, however, it can be implemented in other European urban contexts intending to achieve sustainable spatial planning since the methodological framework modulates to the territorial specificities of a place, always including all aspects of sustainability to be assessed.

The main performance indicators (KPI) are ministerial performance targets imposed by the ministry of education on all universities under its auspices. The state university of Surabaya to realize the main performance indicators (KPI) from the ministry divided the performance with 7 faculties. The Faculty of Engineering is one of the 7 faculties that have been targeted by UNESA. The decision-making process from the various alternatives that exist requires the existence of a criterion. One of the methods used in this research is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Aspects of performance appraisal that will be used as criteria include the following: Performance Assessment Based on the increasing quality of higher education graduates, Increasing the quality of higher education lecturers, Increasing the quality of curriculum and learning, Improved governance of work units within the Directorate General of Higher Education. From some of these weaknesses in monitoring and realizing the main performance indicators of the university, it is necessary to make software to make it easier for the dean to monitor performance. An Assessment of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of Energy Efficient Retrofits to Existing Residential Buildings

Quantifying the wider benefits of energy efficient building retrofits is crucial to incentivise householder retrofit investments. This research recognises the value of key performance indicators (KPIs) for assessing and demonstrating retrofitting benefits and provides an assessment of KPIs for evaluating retrofits. An integrated framework for evaluating retrofits using a set of economic, social, and environmental KPIs is proposed. This KPI framework is then applied in a pre- and post-retrofit assessment of five case study dwellings located in Ireland, revealing its usefulness in demonstrating the wider benefits of retrofitting to householders, with a view to driving retrofit investment. Three of these case study dwellings had state-of-the-art retrofit technologies installed as part of the works, including heat pumps and solar PV systems. In addition to demonstrating the wider benefits of retrofitting, the framework allowed for the identification of potential causes for differences in performance of these technologies across households, as well as patterns of underperformance. Such insights are useful for the future design of these technologies and retrofit packages, as well as policy measures, which support householders in the adoption and use of these measures. The results demonstrate that householders experience various benefits from retrofitting. Showcasing the different benefits that householders receive from retrofitting, and their satisfaction with the retrofit works, can serve to de-risk retrofit investments, and inspire others to seek similar benefits through retrofitting. Applying the developed framework to a larger, comparable sample size, can distinguish the retrofit packages, which perform best across the KPIs and various household profiles. Furthermore, the application of the developed framework can serve as an evidence base for retrofit designers, contractors, and policy makers in the design of retrofit packages and policy measures that will maximise the benefit for householders.

MIKADO: a smart city KPIs assessment modeling framework

Smart decision making plays a central role for smart city governance. It exploits data analytics approaches applied to collected data, for supporting smart cities stakeholders in understanding and effectively managing a smart city. Smart governance is performed through the management of key performance indicators (KPIs), reflecting the degree of smartness and sustainability of smart cities. Even though KPIs are gaining relevance, e.g., at European level, the existing tools for their calculation are still limited. They mainly consist in dashboards and online spreadsheets that are rigid, thus making the KPIs evolution and customization a tedious and error-prone process. In this paper, we exploit model-driven engineering (MDE) techniques, through metamodel-based domain-specific languages (DSLs), to build a framework called MIKADO for the automatic assessment of KPIs over smart cities. In particular, the approach provides support for both: (i) domain experts, by the definition of a textual DSL for an intuitive KPIs modeling process and (ii) smart cities stakeholders, by the definition of graphical editors for smart cities modeling. Moreover, dynamic dashboards are generated to support an intuitive visualization and interpretation of the KPIs assessed by our KPIs evaluation engine. We provide evaluation results by showing a demonstration case as well as studying the scalability of the KPIs evaluation engine and the general usability of the approach with encouraging results. Moreover, the approach is open and extensible to further manage comparison among smart cities, simulations, and KPIs interrelations.

Responsible research and innovation in practice an exploratory assessment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in a Nanomedicine Project

While originally intended to transform research and innovation practice, the concept of responsible research and innovation (RRI) has largely remained a theoretical, policy-oriented construct, thereby engendering a perception that RRI indicators are very different from organizational or business indicators. As there is currently limited experience with RRI in businesses, in an attempt to gain more insights into RRI in practice, this paper focuses on an exploratory assessment of key performance indicators (KPIs) in a nanomedicine project. Based on correspondence analysis, we visually demonstrate associations among KPIs of RRI dimensions and of organizational ongoing R&D dimensions implying that these two indicators are not entirely different from each other and may even be potentially aligned. This finding may stimulate the motives of the RRI uptake in practice.

Video Capsule Endoscopy and Ingestible Electronics: Emerging Trends in Sensors, Circuits, Materials, Telemetry, Optics, and Rapid Reading Software

Real-time monitoring of the gastrointestinal tract in a safe and comfortable manner is valuable for the diagnosis and therapy of many diseases. Within this realm, our review captures the trends in ingestible capsule systems with a focus on hardware and software technologies used for capsule endoscopy and remote patient monitoring. We introduce the structure and functions of the gastrointestinal tract, and the FDA guidelines for ingestible wireless telemetric medical devices. We survey the advanced features incorporated in ingestible capsule systems, such as microrobotics, closed-loop feedback, physiological sensing, nerve stimulation, sampling and delivery, panoramic imaging with adaptive frame rates, and rapid reading software. Examples of experimental and commercialized capsule systems are presented with descriptions of their sensors, devices, and circuits for gastrointestinal health monitoring. We also show the recent research in biocompatible materials and batteries, edible electronics, and alternative energy sources for ingestible capsule systems. The results from clinical studies are discussed for the assessment of key performance indicators related to the safety and effectiveness of ingestible capsule procedures. Lastly, the present challenges and outlook are summarized with respect to the risks to health, clinical testing and approval process, and technology adoption by patients and clinicians.

Concessionaire’s Performance Assessment in Public-Private Partnerships:

This article describes the authors’ experience with Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) being dealt with by the Italian Autonomous Province of Bolzano/South Tyrol. All PPPs considered by the Province and other local authorities must be compulsorily envisaging the enforcement of an effective performance control system during operations, in order to provide a timely assessment of key performance indicators (KPIs) and, in case of non-compliance, to levy relevant penalties to the private partner. Measuring a concessionaire’s performance during operation stage in PPP arrangements is an essential requirement set forth by European standards, in order for PPPs to be accounted off public balance. In the Guide to Statistical Treatment of PPPs, Eurostat sets out that PPP contracts must contain provisions that allow for the Operational Payments to be adjusted for unavailability of the asset and poor service performance by the private partner. Unlike concessions, where the private party bears most of the risks and the majority of revenues come directly from user charges, in PPPs the public party is the major purchaser of the services provided by the operator. The investment repayment is assured for the greatest part by regular availability-based payments granted by the acquiring administration throughout contract duration. In the latter case, it is essential to ensure that a substantial risk portion is transferred to the private party, by contractually defining a clear set of performance levels to be matched during Operations, and making sure that an efficient and sound performance control system is in place to check if requirements are met. The paper considers a toolkit for analyzing the profit of an enterprise, which includes reasonable indicators of analysis and assessment, supplemented by indicators of the industry's focus of the enterprise, which reflect and characterize the features of the activities of trade enterprises in a competitive environment. Evaluation of the company's activities in terms of the obtained financial result (profit) should not be limited to the analysis and assessment of cash flows, costs, investments in R&amp;D, profit and profitability, but should also include industry indicators in order to quickly assess the company's profit, it is necessary to conduct an analysis and assessment of key performance indicators of the enterprise, such as the reputation of the company, the business activity of the enterprise, the breadth of the market for the products manufactured, the market position. For a generalized assessment of this approach, a toolkit is required in the form of an integral criterion for analyzing and assessing profit.

АНАЛІЗ ЕФЕКТИВНОСТІ В ХОЛОДНИХ ЛАНЦЮГАХ ПОСТАВОК ПІДПРИЄМСТВА

The article is devoted to the study of the efficiency analysis system in the cold chains of food industry enterprises. Models of the relationship between the total costs of logistics and key performance indicators of food industry enterprises have been investigated.Economic instability and the increasing importance of the logistics component in the economies of all countries require the development of new methods for assessing supply chains in order to find effective ways to reduce costs and increase the competitiveness of enterprises. A detailed review of literature sources allowed the author to choose a method for assessing key performance indicators that gives the most accurate assessment results, and also choose the factors of argumentation in comparison with other methods of economic analysis. By modeling business processes in cold supply chains and then controlling their parameters, you can describe actions and quickly respond to changes in the external and internal environment. A set of performance indicators for an enterprise's logistics can be based on the following system: typical key performance indicators; typical key performance indicators of business processes; clarification of key performance indicators of logistics solutions. An algorithm has been developed for assessing the impact of economic indicators on the efficiency of cold supply chains, taking into account the use of models, which allows to identify the directions of changes to ensure the required level of efficiency of the enterprise's logistics system, like everyone else. Approaches and models for evaluating performance indicators in cold supply chains of food industry enterprises have been formed. The proposed approach allows us to trace the impact of costs arising in holonic supply chains on economic performance indicators. The developed complex three-level model of analytical assessment of key performance indicators of the refrigeration supply chain of food industry enterprises allows us to trace the relationship of the model of total logistics costs with key performance indicators. Application of the proposed approach makes it possible to describe the transportation process taking into account all types of restrictions (technological, technical, organizational, administrative) and proceed to a reasoned development of measures to improve the efficiency of individual operations for the transportation of perishable products.
