Comparative Analysis of Folk Song Styles in The Huizhou Region

The folk songs of the Huizhou region in Guangdong Province, China, are richly diverse and embody the area's profound cultural heritage. This study examines three distinct regional folk songs: the Huiyang Jiege, Ruhu Fishing Song, and Huidong Fishermen's Song, aiming to delineate their musical styles and cultural expressions and how they mirror the local culture. Utilizing both questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews, this research engages with 326 residents and 16 cultural experts from various counties within Huizhou City. The study methodically evaluates the artistic features of these folk songs—including melody, theme, and lyrics—and investigates their transmission in contemporary times. The findings reveal that while these songs stem from a common cultural background, they exhibit distinct regional traits in their expression and social roles. For instance, the Huiyang Jiege is noted for its simple structure, whereas the Ruhu Fishing Song and Huidong Fishermen's Songs focus more on emotional expression and social interaction. The study advocates for enhanced local government support and collaborative research initiatives with universities. Additionally, it suggests leveraging modern media technologies to promote and preserve these folk songs as vital cultural assets. By thoroughly analyzing these locally distinctive folk songs, this research contributes to the academic field of ethnomusicology and offers valuable insights into the preservation and perpetuation of regional culture.

Analysis of the artistic characteristics and singing of the aria “Ritorna Vincitor”

Verdi’s four-act opera “Aida” has achieved great success since its premiere in Cairo on December 24, 1871 and it remains a staple in major opera houses worldwide. The work poses significant demands on dramatic sopranos, specifically with its wide vocal range and intense dramatic conflicts. Analyzing its artistic characteristics and singing techniques helps vocal performers continuously improve their singing level and ability to portray characters, providing valuable references for vocal students. This paper uses “Ritorna vincitor” as an example, employing literature research, music analysis, and stage practice to introduce Verdi’s compositional techniques and style, and to study the piece from multiple angles such as form, harmony, mode, rhythm, melody, language, and stage performance, finally combining research with stage practice.

Art object – an integral component of shaping the architectural environment of a modern city

Shaping the image of a modern city, its aesthetic and artistic qualities, improving its appearance and attracting the attention of residents and guests of the city to his certain parts with the help of traditional, modern and exclusive art objects is an up-to-date question. The main purpose of the research was to theoretical materials, explored art object characteristics, functions, role in modern city architecture, and residents’ attitudes towards art object use in urban spaces. The research program included the following stages: preparatory, research and summarising with the integrated use of general scientific research methods. The methods included analysis of scientific literature, field research, analysis of architectural solutions, analysis of similar projects, and generalisation of previously proposed ideas for the formation of public space. As a result of the conducted comprehensive research, the main functions of art objects, the properties of art objects and the role of art objects in the formation of the architectural environment of a modern city in the system “art-objects – public space – residents” were summarised. The main characteristic features that art objects should have in the context of urban space are analysed and systematised. Through the survey of the city’s population, it was established that existing art objects in cities require thematic and compositional adjustments, since a group of art objects and each of them individually form the image of the city, reflect its uniqueness and originality. The survey revealed that residents for the formation of the urban environment prefer art objects of historical and cultural themes. In order to take into account the culture and traditions of the city’s residents during the design and placement of art objects, it is necessary to conduct a survey and expert evaluation, which should be an important part of the process of shaping the urban space. The theoretical and practical value of the research results lies in the fact that the materials, provisions and conclusions contained in it can be included in the preparations of educational materials on environment design and also used as recommendations for improving the process of forming of the image of the urban environment in the activities of government agencies, design organisations, and developers of regulatory documentation

Exploring the Artistic Features in Turgenev’s Fiction

Abstract This paper delves into the essence of the linguistic aesthetics employed in Turgenev’s fiction, with its finite intertextual implications and infinite extratextual connotation, to illuminate the beauty of implication and connotation in the art universe created by Turgenev. This paper introduces for the first time Turgenev as a master of the “halftones” technique. In his works, absolutes and extremes are absent while description of objects, scenes and emotions, character settings and even internal conflicts are all painted in “halftones”. Turgenev’s writing consistently reflects the beauty of opposition and contrast, versus collaboration and harmony. This paper uses intertextual implications and “halftones” to assess the artistic value of Turgenev’s fiction.

The ideological and artistic features of the travelogues about Turkey in the Russian parent state literature of the 1920s (based on Summer in Angora by E. Lanceray and Istanbul and Turkey by P. Pavlenko)

The article discusses the travelogues of Turkey by E. Lanceray and P. Pavlenko. If, until 1917, the Russian literature had described Turkey from the ethnographical and geographic perspectives or had made it a part of modernist vision, in the 1920s, the authors wrote mainly about its political, social and cultural changes. The aim of the article is to analyze Turkey’s image in the parent state literature of the 1920s, close the lacuna in its Asian text and form a more complete understanding of the Russian literary process of that period. The article uses the descriptive, biographical and culture-historical methods of research. It concludes that so different writers as Lanceray and Pavlenko representing the unlike generations and artistic worlds and making different accents in their writings – on ethnography and the formation of a new statehood, respectively – are prone to interpret the revolutionary changes taking place in Turkey optimistically. Therefore, the Turkish motive and thematic vector should be viewed as a relevant stage of forming the ideology and aesthetics of a new artistic method, which is to be known as socialist realism subsequently.

Innovative Cultural Transmission Paths Analysis for Local Opera Based on Data Mining

With the rapid development of society and cultural diversity, local opera, as a representative of traditional art, faces dual challenges of inheritance and innovation. The inheritance of traditional Chinese opera often relies on oral instruction, but in modern society, this method is no longer suitable for the rapidly changing cultural environment. The purpose of this study is to explore in depth the innovative cultural dissemination path of local opera through data mining techniques. This paper uses data mining techniques to explore and analyze the inheritance of innovative culture in local opera, and to study the inheritance paths. This paper proposes a data mining-based method for analyzing and identifying the paths of inheritance of innovative culture in local opera. This paper focuses on two aspects of technology clustering and technology theme association, and the research paths are divided into flexible clustering based on data enhancement and technology evolution path identification based on theme extraction. Firstly, the heritage changes of dating tunes are discussed. Secondly, the unique artistic esthetics of the dating tune is compared with the artistic characteristics of Henan opera and the three-stringed book. Through the research and learning experience of the Dai Yongqu, it is easier to thoroughly understand the artistic essence and cultural connotation of the Dai Yongqu, and that exposure to the Dai Yongqu is a process of touching traditional culture. In the text clustering section, the data co-occurrence frequency matrix is constructed based on the results of multiple clustering, transforming the problem of determining the number of clusters into a co-occurrence frequency problem with semantic information of the text, thus achieving the purpose of flexible clustering on demand. In a comparison with existing methods, the text representation method using data-enhanced coding achieves better semantic coding results. The flexible clustering method can differentiate the data better than the clustering method with a defined number of clusters and obtains clustering results with high intra-class similarity and high inter-class differentiation.

As one of the traditional Chinese crafts, Yi embroidery carries rich cultural connotation and historical value. In recent years, with the implementation of rural revitalization strategy, the protection and inheritance of Yi embroidery culture has become an urgent problem to be solved. Through field research and literature research, this paper takes Nanhua County as an example to explore the artistic characteristics and specific contents of Nanhua embroidery culture, and discusses the characteristic development measures, difficulties faced in the development process and future innovation paths of Nanhua Yi embroidery culture from the perspective of rural revitalization. For the inheritance and innovation of Yi embroidery culture, the author puts forward the following paths: government departments take the lead to increase investment, and multi-subjects cooperate to participate in the construction of embroidery cultural innovation system; With the help of brand effect to enhance market competitiveness, combined with popular elements such as national style to broaden the industrial space; With the rural revitalization policy as the starting point, promote the embroidery industry and other industries embedded development; Develop the digital protection and inheritance of Yi embroidery culture. In the future, it is also possible to further explore the value and significance of Yi embroidery in contemporary society, integrate Yi embroidery into a broader framework of cultural heritage protection, carry out interdisciplinary research, and combine the knowledge of anthropology, sociology, cultural heritage protection and other fields to deeply explore the multidimensional significance and complexity of Yi embroidery culture.

Traditional Ethnic Furniture in Tibetan Culture

Ethnic furniture is a kind of furniture unique to ethnic minorities in China. The furniture of various ethnic groups has unique features in structure, color, and pattern application. Due to its geographical, economic, and cultural reasons, ethnic furniture can carry and express culture through its own characteristics such as shape, color, and building process. Ethnic furniture includes Tibetan furniture, Bai furniture, Yi furniture, Dai furniture, Korean furniture, Mongolian furniture, Miao furniture, Uyghur furniture, and so on. This ethnic furniture has strong regional cultural and artistic characteristics, reflecting the national cultural connotation it represents. With the development of history and cultural characteristics, it can be said that furniture is another form of history. When one enters the home of the Tibetan people, one will be overwhelmed by the pieces of carved and exquisite cabinets, tables, boxes, and other furniture. Tibetan furniture is a part of the life of Tibetans, as Tibetans control the development and style of Tibetan furniture. Therefore, this paper studies Tibetan furniture, as it has great significance in Tibetan culture.

The poetry of Maria Konopnicka in the context of belarusian-polish literary connections.

The purpose of the article is to study the artistic features of the lyrics of Maria Konopnicka, analyze the ideological and aesthetic foundations of her creative method and poetic style, as well as scientific understanding of the place and role of this bright representative of Polish positivism literature within the Belarusian cultural and historical paradigm. The introduction substantiates the novelty and relevance of the study of the poetic heritage of M. Konopnicka in the context of Belarusian-Polish literary ties. In the main part, on the example of individual poems, the ways of artistic comprehension by the poetess of a number of aesthetic, philosophical and socio-political ideas that are relevant both among the Polish and Belarusian creative intelligentsia are shown. This fact led to the emergence of literary followers, translators and interpreters of M. Konopnicka’s work, one of which is Yanka Kupala, the first national poet of Belarus. Also, the genuine interest of Belarusians in the Polish writer is explained by common cultural and historical values and traditions, a similar orientation towards representatives of the previous era (Adam Mitskevich, Juliush Slovatsky and some other Polish-Litvinian romantics). In summary, conclusions are formulated about the ideological and aesthetic searches of M. Konopnicka, as well as about the place of her poetry in the system of realism and the context of Belarusian-Polish literary ties.

Sculpture art, as a kind of plastic art, is inevitably affected by it, and has made remarkable development in application and participation, and people's understanding of sculpture art is more diversified. This paper combines cases to analyze the specific presentation of post-modernism artistic characteristics in sculpture art works from multiple perspectives, providing new thinking dimensions for contemporary sculpture creation.

The Artistic Characteristics of Biological Art

National and Western Characteristics of Composition in the Concerto for the Bamboo Flute “Four Songs of Northern Shaanxi” (“陕北四章”) by Cheng Dazhao

Shaanxi, as one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilisation, has an ancient history and culture, and the music of the province is imbued with a distinct local fl avour. The bamboo fl ute concerto “Four Songs of Northern Shaanxi” was created by Cheng Dazhao based on the intonations of the folk songs of Shanbei, and therefore the work has pronounced local characteristics. Within the framework of the article, the artistic characteristics and technique of performing the concert are analysed and considered. In the process of analysis, it was established that the composition technique of the “Four Songs of Northern Shaanxi” and the methods of performing the work differ from those accepted in traditional music. The characteristic features of the concert are fully refl ected in the innovation and breakthrough in performance technology, as well as the integration of Western techniques and national musical material. The composition of the work incorporates Western compositional techniques without destroying the traditional cultural characteristics and beauty of the national music contained in the work. Thanks to stylisation and the national musical language, the work conveys the characteristics of the music culture of Northern Shaanxi.

Perceptions of Halal-friendly attributes: a quantitative study of tourists’ intention to travel non-Islamic destination

PurposeThailand's Halal-friendly destination attributes are the focus of this study. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of Halal-friendly attributes on tourists’ intentions to visit non-Muslim destinations. Also, this study analyzes the impact of Muslim tourists’ attitudes on Halal-friendly characteristics and their intentions to visit countries that are not predominantly Muslim.Design/methodology/approachTo accomplish objectives, a survey was used to gather the data by using a convenient non-probability sampling approach from Muslim-majority countries Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. A proposed structural equation model was used to assess the influence of the variables above on the outcomes.FindingsThis study found that the factors of Halal-friendly facilities and Halal-friendly service positively influence the visiting intentions of Indonesian, Malaysian and Brunei Muslim tourists. In contrast, the social environment, food/beverages and local and staff attributes do not influence visit intentions. The tourist attitude mediates the relationship between the intention to visit and three dimensions of Halal-friendly attributes (social environment; food/beverage; and locals and staff).Research limitations/implicationsThis study did not investigate different kinds of dimensions for Muslim tourists visiting Thailand, such as preferences regarding personnel and families, cultural and artistic characteristics and the attributes of events and festivals. These dimensions cover a wide range of Halal-friendly tourism aspects. Second, this research did not investigate the associations between the demographics of Muslim tourists (age, gender, education level and income level) and the model variables. Such an investigation could have helped business developers and marketers in Thailand develop an efficient strategy for target marketing. The results of this research provide fundamental guidance and information for tourist enterprises in non-Muslim nations on how to enhance Muslim travellers’ images and intentions. However, because of the influence of other variables, locations in various areas of Asia, Africa and Europe may exhibit somewhat different effective qualities (e.g. environment, culture, history, etc.).Practical implicationsThis study sheds light on the factors contributing to visitor satisfaction in the context of a desire to go to a Halal-friendly site. This insight from this study can be adapted and applied by tourism managers and marketing executives to build or develop the Halal-friendly destination image of a tourist destination (Phuket) in the right dimensions. It is a possibility that the image of a tourist attraction has a tight relationship with travelers’ perceived value, contentment and loyalty (Hsu et al., 2008; Khunrattanaporn, 2013; Pike, 2008). Battour et al. (2022) found that Muslims’ behavioural intentions are affected by the Halal attributes of the destination. It indicates that Halal attributes are very important for Muslim tourists when selecting a destination. To attract Muslim tourists, this study can be used for strategies and planning.Originality/valueThis study sheds fresh light on the concept of Halal tourism. It examines the perspective of Muslim tourists using Halal goods or services in anticipation of a future trip to a non-Muslim location (Phuket). This study is crucial for destination tourism operators, managers and marketers who lead Muslim tourists to non-Muslim destinations.

C-E Translation Analysis of the Article Artistic Characteristics of Opera Character Paper-Cuts in Xinjiang in the CEA Framework

The Chinese government promotes the spreading of Chinese culture worldwide to enhance the soft power of China internationally. In this circumstance, translation of folk culture holds great significance since it constitutes an integeral part of cultural heritage, and through translation, a wider audience can appreciate these diverse cultures in different areas of China and better understand the Chinese culture in general. Based on the background of rural cultural reconstruction and the urgent situation of inheriting the precious intangible cultural heritage, the student translator took the article On the Artistic Characteristics of Opera Character paper-cuts in Xinjiang Area of Shanxi Province as the source text for her translation project. The framework of “Comprehension, Expression and Adaptation” is chosen to analyse the translation process: how the translator solved the problems encountered in understanding the text in source language, expressing the similar meaning in target language and adaptations made to bridge the cultural gap between the two languages.

Mr. Hisaishi, an internationally renowned music giant, has successfully spread his film score and unique music style in China. By analyzing the artistic features and lyrical functions of Hisaishi’s film score, this paper explains the spreading process of Hisaishi’s music in China, its acceptance of Hisaishi’s music, and Hisaishi’s successful cooperation with Chinese directors. It also analyzes its extensive influence in Chinese pop culture through concerts, cultural markets, and other communication methods, as well as its enlightenment to developing the Chinese cultural industry. This paper concludes that the development and dissemination of Chinese pop culture can be inspired, and pop culture can also build brands and make classics. In addition, in developing and disseminating popular culture, it should focus on finding a joint force between aesthetic self-discipline and heteronomy and the formation of a cultural industry chain.

It examines how modern garden designers are drawing inspiration from historical precedents while introducing innovative elements to cater to the tastes and needs of contemporary society.

Virtual Interactive Display Space Design of Intangible Cultural Heritage

This paper focuses on the design and generation of the virtual interactive exhibition space of intangible cultural heritage, aiming to provide an innovative path for the inheritance and display of intangible cultural heritage through digital technology. Through in-depth study of the connotation and characteristics of intangible cultural heritage, combined with AR augmented reality, holographic projection, motion sensing interaction and other modern technological means, the design and generate a creative, interactive and immersive virtual display space. The design not only shows the historical origin and artistic characteristics of the intangible cultural heritage, but also emphasizes its modern value and innovative development, aiming to enhance the public's cognition and interest in the intangible cultural heritage, and promote the inheritance and development of the intangible cultural heritage. The research in this paper provides new ideas and methods for the digital protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, and helps to promote the inheritance and innovation of intangible cultural heritage in modern society.

Based on the investigation of Xie Caihua, the inheritor of Xiangshan paper-cut, this paper analyzes the artistic features of Xie Caihua's paper-cut from four aspects: space, composition, quantity and scale.At the same time, the main influencing factors are discussed. At present, the main function of paper-cut in Xiangshan has changed, and the evolution of its form of expression also presents a certain paradigm.
