Different composition waterflooding (DCW) is an enhanced oil recovery method based on altering the content of the injected water. There are multiple parameters of rock, brine and oil that play a role in impacting the success of the DCW. In such complex processes AI can be a tool efficient in investigating the process for screening and decision making through classification and regression. In the oil and gas industry with the burgeoning amount of data AI/ML are becoming more the necessity due to its efficiency in handling such large data and processing it to convert data into information and into knowledge for efficient decision making. Through this work, a review of the sustainable modus operandi of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools and Machine Learning (ML) is performed. The comprehensive review covers the applications of AI in Oil & Gas and EOR and more particularly DCW. Also a look at the future challenges and way forward to make this AI/ML as sustainable practice for the success of projects and improved efficiency in the O&G industry is discussed.
