Biomechanical and clinical studies have consistently demonstrated that the hip joint capsule is a vital contributor to the soft tissue and osseous structures that maintain native joint stability. Traditionally, arthroscopic hip surgeons have employed unrepaired capsulotomies or focal capsulectomy to gain access to the joint and treat associated pathology. Recently, there has been a growing focus on restoring native capsular integrity using various repair techniques. However, it is unclear whether capsular repair has an impact on clinical outcomes following arthroscopic hip preservation surgery.
