Study of Sediments Water Resources System of Zayanderud Dam through Area increment and Area reduction Methods, Isfahan Province, Iran.

Zayandehrud dam's lake with the capacity of 1.6* 109 CM is located 115 Km from Isfahan city at the center of Iran. The dam adopts water resources from Zayandehrud River which originates from western hill slopes of Isfahan Province. The purpose of the dam is to provide drinking water to Isfahan Province, water for agriculture and industry in that province and conservation of historical buildings on the river such as old bridges. At the present time, dam is also used for different tourism purposes. However, the occurrence of drought in recent years reduced the capacity to 150 MCM and had harmful impacts on the different water resources system of the area such as dryness of Gavkhooni swamp, reduction of agricultural and industrial water availability. In this study, the different aspects of Zayandehrud dam's lake utilization and the Investigation of Sediments Water Resources System of Zayanderud Dam through Area increment and Area reduction Methods are evaluated.

Estimation of Delta Profile in the Indravati Reservoir

In case of the Upper Indravati Hydro Electric Project in the Orissa state of India, the topography of the reservoir area governed the location of the water intake, which is situated about 6.6 km from the upstream edge of the water spread. The total length of the reservoir is 43 km. When the delta arrives at the intake, the water draws a heavy charge of sand and coarser sediment that will damage the turbines. Reasonably accurate prediction of the period required for the sediment delta to travel down to the intake position therefore achieved crucial importance. Three different methods were used to predict the time rate of delta development: (1) a mathematical model; (2) the empirical procedure developed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), based on the observations about the topset slope, foreset slope, and pivot point, made when the reservoir is in operation; and (3) a procedure based on sediment distribution following the empirical area reduction method. Results achieved by each of the three methods compared well, indicating that such comparative analysis increases confidence in quantitative predictions and improves the predictive methods for delta profile.

Normal values of left ventricular function have been determined in 24 patients by means of biplane angiocardiography. Global parameters were chamber volume, ejection fraction and muscle mass. Regional ventricular function was determined by means of an orthogonal and radial axial system. Radial axis shortening parameters showed smaller standard deviations and smaller coefficient of variations than orthogonal parameters. The smallest coefficient of variation elicited regional area reduction methods. Women showed significantly lower chamber volumes and muscle mass than men. There was no difference between the two sexes in the ejection fraction and wall thickness.
