A user may utilize a computer to enlarge her memory and her processing capability. The latter presupposes programming abilities, but the former doesn't. A software package (ABC) was developed which can be used to store an arbitrary file to a computer memory. How fast and how far can users progress in the use of ABC system? This was studied in an empirical action research. At the first stage a test file was provided. The users very soon learned to update the test file and to request various reports from it. Later the users defined the schema of the first application file; in this they needed relatively little help from the expert. Training through experience was the principle adopted here. As a result of this experiment a more controlled training program than the present is recommended.
