Based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation of gas storage risk factors, the paper has established risk analytical hierarchy process of three accidents, destruction, leakage and surface settlement of gas storage in layered salt rock. The model has been used to evaluate operation risk condition of Jintan salt rock underground gas storage in Jiangsu Province. And weights distribution of effected by three accidents risk factors and risk grade of gas storage have been determined.

Therefore, this experience has to be documented and stored in the company database for usage in future projects. However, such an evaluation involves a complex decision-making process associated with numerous uncertainty factors, imprecise information and judgments. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been widely applied to evaluate alternatives related to multiple decision criteria. Nevertheless, the AHP is incapable of dealing with the inherent subjectivity and ambiguity existing in the mapping of the decision-maker judgment to exact numerical values. This paper introduces an attempt to store the experts’ subjective experience using a fuzzy AHP approach in an attempt to determine the dewatering main criteria weights. The approach employs triangular fuzzy numbers and the α-cut concept to better represent the degrees of uncertainty held by the decision-maker.

These factors affect each other and are difficult to distinguish accurately. In this context, the AHP and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method are combined to evaluate the comprehensive economic benefits of coastal enterprises. First of all, the weight of each evaluation factor is determined by using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) legally and quantitatively; then, the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model based on AHP is constructed to evaluate the evaluation scheme containing uncertain factors; finally, the application of AHP in state-owned and private enterprises proves that the evaluation method is scientific and feasible.

Selection of optimum biological treatment for coking wastewater using analytic hierarchy process

The design of biological treatment process for the coking wastewater (CW) is complicated since wastewater treatment demand is gradually increasing lacking the systematic strategy in efficiency evaluation and advisable selection. Therefore, this study develops a holistic approach by means of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) that uses numerical representation to rank the preferences of each participating alternatives for evaluation of the advanced biological technologies in CW treatment. Based on survey results, six types reactor combinations were selected as the alternatives, which were further classified as two group according to COD load. The AHP methodology consists of weighting and ranking procedures considering technical, economic, environmental and administration factors defined as criteria layers. Eighteen indicators were chosen as sub-criteria layers. Inclusively beneficial and sustainable biological processes were assessed and ranked along the AHP implementation. The results placed technical indicators to the top position among the criteria layers in the weighting descending order ‘technical indicators > economic indicators > environmental indicators > administrative indicators’, whereas the weight of indicators in sub-criteria layers fitted in the range of 0.005 to 0.151. The inclusive priority calculation integrating all weight indices of criteria and sub-criteria layers resulted in the anaerobic-anoxic-oxic (A/A/O) combination rising in the hierarchy of the low load group, whereas the oxic-hydrolytic-oxic (O/H/O) process was prioritized in the high load group. The accuracy and objectivity of AHP application was also supported by sensitivity and variability analyses that examines a range for the weights' values and corresponding to alternative scenarios.

Urban Regional Logistics Distribution Path Planning Considering Road Characteristics

Generally, road characteristics (such as the longitudinal slope and pavement damage) have an important effect on logistics distribution path, not only the vehicle fuel economy and driving safety but also the benefits and efficiency of logistics companies. It is necessary to explore the influence of road characteristics on logistics distribution path planning. First, a road characteristics evaluation value is defined to quantify road characteristics. With the application of analytic hierarchy process (AHP), the road characteristics evaluation index system with three criteria and eleven indices was built, and then the calculation of the road characteristics evaluation value is proposed based on the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. Secondly, a mathematical model of logistics distribution path planning is proposed, in which road characteristics and distance are comprehensively considered. Thirdly, an adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) is presented with customized crossover operator for the solution of the mathematical model. Finally, through simulation by a real example, the influences of road characteristics and distance on the optimal distribution path are discussed, and the results show the model considering the road characteristics and distance comprehensively achieves superior distribution paths to that considering the distance or road characteristics only.

Performance Evaluation of Agro-tourism Clusters using AHP–TOPSIS

The aim of this article is to recognize the key critical success factors (CSFs) that determine the performance of agritourism clusters using combined analytical hierarchy process (AHP)-the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method. The operational performance of agritourism clusters was determined using integrated approach, and 11 CSFs were initially identified through systematic literature review. Furthermore, experts validated and finalized nine CSFs that can determine the sustainable performance of agritourism network. Totally 15 experts (including practitioners and agritourism supply chain partners), were engaged in data collection process. The AHP application exhibits that destination attractiveness (D5) has the highest priority (0.156) among all the dimensions followed by local community contribution and sustainable livelihoods (D9). Furthermore, TOPSIS demonstrates that Pithoragarh (C7) has the ideal best value (0.7705) indicating that this cluster is performing the best among all the clusters followed by Almora (0.7209). The identification of CSFs to evaluate the performance of clusters in Uttarakhand, India can serve as guiding tool for the agritourism practitioners. The examination of pertinent issues with the focus on major support required, bottlenecks in adoption, key benefits of sustainable agritourism activities and most common sustainable practices are expected to provide new understanding about the sustainable agritourism business-based issues in India. The only limitation of this study is the geographic coverage and limited demography of the respondents. This study is one of the first efforts on assessing agritourism supply chain practices in India, with the special reference to Uttarakhand state.

Evaluation Research and Application of Cloud Service Provider Based on Real-Time Data

How to choose the right supplier from many cloud service providers has become a research hotspot. Basing on real-time data, we propose a method for evaluating and choosing the supplier of Machine Tool. Firstly, we establish the index evaluation system of Machine Tool’s performance. Secondly, we apply analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and entropy method to determine the weights of performance indexes. We obtain the performance assessment by the weights. Thirdly, taking the cost into consideration, we calculate the comprehensive assessment score. Finally, we take two service suppliers as example, and draw a conclusion that the service capability of supplier 2 is better than that of supplier 1. The assessment method proposed in this paper provides a reference for matching the service provider and the service demander.

Application of analytic hierarchy process for selection of heat transfer meters

At the present time, the process of super-viscous oil deposits development is of current interest among the oil companies. The production of super-viscous oil in the Republic of Tatarstan is carried out using the steam-assisted gravity method. The article proposes a method for solving the problem of selecting a heat meter devices on sites of the Ashalchi field for the production of super-viscous oil. Analytic hierarchy process was used and the parameters required for the optimal selection of heat meters have been determined in the course of investigations. Based on these parameters, a hierarchy for the heat metering unit and a pairwise comparison matrix for the main criteria of the flowmeters have been made. As a result of the analysis, the optimal flowmeter in terms of the chosen criteria has been selected.

Application of AHP for Supplier Selection in Construction Companies

The procurement process is an important process in supply chain management as it is the spearhead of the entire process. In carrying out the procurement process, there are often problems with the supplier selection activities. This is because the supplier selection process spends a lot of time and resources collecting data and conducting careful analysis that will affect the entire decision alternative. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to determine the best supplier, there are 4 variables that are reference in conducting the selection of suppliers, such as: cost, quality, delivery, and service. The result in the selection of the supplier company is cost with a weight of 0.268, quality with a weight of 0.290, delivery with a weighting of 0.248, and the service with a weight of 0.194 where conclusions obtained from the analysis of the selection of the best suppliers and in accordance with the criteria, namely PT. CBL for iron suppliers, PT.SAS for cement suppliers, and PT. Citra BSD for suppliers of natural materials

The aim of this paper is to propose a management model which would assess the state of the business and indicate the improvement points, as well as to demonstrate the applicability of the model in a case of the postal company. An A’BA model is proposed which represents a combined application of Analytic Hierarchy Process – AHP method as a multi-criteria decision making tool and theory of business areas. The research consists of two parts. To define the most important influencing factor on business performance, the experts are interviewed. A new concept is proposed and applied in the process of aggregating experts’ assessments based on their mapping in a plane. This creates the appropriate surface, and the position of its centroid in relation to the Saaty’s scale defines the final score of pairwise comparison - an indicator of the relationship between two elements that are compared. In the second part, additional experts from the determined area are involved to define an approach for detailed analysis of the most important factor. In this case, the approach included a survey of employees based on the specialized questionnaire. AHP-QFD in assessing the outcome of gemba kaizen events

The study shows the application of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) as a tool in assessing the outcome of the Gemba Kaizen Event. AHP-QFD method is used to analyze the process of prioritizing the Lean strategy, tools and technique for a Gemba Kaizen Event performed at a manufacturing company. The data obtained from the Gemba Kaizen Event were analyzed with AHP-QFD method in which the research evaluated the best combination and prioritization of lean elements to be deployed systematically. The analysis shows the linkage between the needs and lean strategies. The study found that the main strategy to implement Lean depends on the needs of the production situation of the company. The approach is mainly about improvement in process flow, standardization of the process, creation of Kanban Pull System and process visualization for control of the production.

Application of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) Method in Determining Dike Construction for Handling Tidal Flood

Tambak Lorok in Semarang is one of the areas that often undergoes tidal floods. The construction of dam and dike infrastructure is an effort to overcome tidal floods. As one part of the flood control system, the dike has an important role. The construction projects requires an alternative selection method of dike construction in order to function optimally. This research aims to determine the order of priority criteria and alternative construction of dikes. The data were obtained through questionnaires to experts in the field of dike construction. The aspects of criteria used to analyze alternative dike construction are : functions and benefits, site conditions, costs and construction implementation. The dike construction alternatives include a Concrete Sheet Pile (CSP), Parapet Wall with reinforced Corrugated Concrete Sheet Pile/CCSP and landfill with Geotube Components. The questionnaire were processed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method with the Expert Choice v.11 application. The results showed consistency ratio (CR) of 5%, which means that research data were consistent and could be accounted for. Based on weighting in pairwise comparisons, the priority criteria in selecting type of dike construction are : functions and benefits (33%), site conditions (32%), cost (18%) and construction implementation (17%) The priority alternative dike construction is reinforced Corrugated Concrete Sheet Pile/CCSP (39.7%), landfill with geotube components (3.28%) and Cylindrical Concrete Piles (CSP) (27.5%). Dike construction with reinforced CCSP is a top priority in the handling of tidal floods in the Tambak Lorok.

Collective decision-making for developing emergency management capabilities

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to explore the applicability of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to collective decision-making of local and state disaster managers for their efficient and effective allocation of limited financial resources.Design/methodology/approachFor the implementation of AHP, this study conducted an AHP survey with state and local disaster managers in post-Katrina Louisiana, the USA.FindingsThe AHP analysis disclosed a preference gap between local and state managers. It also identified frequent interaction with partners, leadership and communication, as the most critical capabilities to develop for effective emergency management.Research limitations/implicationsThis study discussed the value of consistent and careful management of the collaborative relationship. This study is context-specific in disaster type (Hurricane) and locality (Louisiana). Other AHP studies or similar multi-criteria decision-making models should be implemented in different contexts.Originality/valueEven with clear advantages of collective decision-making in the emergency management field, a model for collective decision-making has been rare. This study explored the applicability of AHP to the collective decision-making for the efficient and effective allocation of limited financial resources.

Eco-Banking in Relation to Financial Performance of the Sector—The Evidence from Poland

With the advent of corporate social responsibility, practical aspects of environmental responsibility have gained importance and recognition among both manufacturing and service enterprises, including financial services. This trend is also evidenced extensively in the literature. On the other hand, the literature reveals a significant gap in the research into the matter of environmental responsibility of banks in the light of their financial effectiveness. In addition, the European Union (EU) regulations require banking entities to provide reports of any activities related to protection of natural resources. Two important dilemmas arise in this context—how to measure the environmental involvement of the banking sector and how to relate this type of involvement to the sector’s financial effectiveness? We applied Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), linear ordering methods—standardized sum method and synthetic measure of development, Pearson’s and Spearman’s correlation coefficients, Student’s t and Mann-Whitney U tests and boxplots to measure environmental responsibility of banks and to examine the empirical relationship between environmental engagement and bank financial performance data. We also used analytical methods for the study of financial and non-financial reports of banks. We posited three research hypotheses related to measurement of environmental involvement of banks (ecologization) and to correlations between the sector’s financial effectiveness and its environmental involvement. The study does not confirm any direct influence of banks’ financial results upon the scale of their environmental involvement. Based on the above, the we also made an attempt at explaining the results and identifying directions of further research into the subject.

AHP, Fuzzy SAW, and Fuzzy WPM for the Evaluation of Cultural Websites

The evaluation of cultural websites is a complicated procedure that depends on several criteria. The main contribution of this paper is on showing how this process may be implemented. For this reason, different multi-criteria decision-making methods are combined and compared for processing the results of the evaluation. More specifically, the paper provides the criteria for evaluating a website of cultural heritage and presents the application of Analytical Hierarchy Process for estimating the weights of the criteria. Then, it compares two different multi-criteria decision-making models, fuzzy simple additive weighting and fuzzy weighted product model, for being combined with Analytical Hierarchy Process and processing the results of the evaluation. The evaluation involves 29 websites of the conservation labs of the international museums and useful conclusions are extracted about the application of all methods and the combination of Analytical Hierarchy Process with fuzzy simple additive weighting and fuzzy weighted product model.

Application of analytic hierarchy process in landslide susceptibility mapping at regional scale in GIS environment

Landslides are very unpredictable and hazardous phenomenon in the hilly regions. The failure of slopes in hilly regions causes economic losses and fatalities. Aim of this study is to prepare a landslide susceptibility map of Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh (H.P.), India. The factors like slope, aspect, drainage characteristics, geological and lithological are considered for preparation of landslide susceptibility map. The weightage of causative factors are calculated using analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The weighted linear combination technique is used in GIS environment to calculate the landslide susceptibility index. The landslide susceptibility map is divided into four categories according to their susceptibility towards landslides. It is found that a significant area lies under high and very high susceptibility towards landslides. The results of the study can be used by the construction engineers, urban planners and environmental engineers.

Application of AHP to Road Selection

The analytic hierarchy process (AHP), a decision-making method, allows the relative prioritization and assessment of alternatives under multiple criteria contexts. This method is also well suited for road selection. The method for road selection based on AHP involves four steps: (i) Points of Interest (POIs), the point-like representations of the facilities and habitations in maps, are used to describe and build the contextual characteristic indicator of roads; (ii) form an AHP model of roads with topological, geometrical, and contextual characteristic indicators to calculate their importance; (iii) select roads based on their importance and the adaptive thresholds of their constituent density partitions; and (iv) maintain the global connectivity of the selected network. The generalized result at a scale of 1:200,000 by AHP-based methods better preserved the structure of the original road network compared with other methods. Our method also gives preference to roads with relatively significant contextual characteristics without interfering with the structure of the road network. Furthermore, the result of our method largely agrees with that of the manual method.

Classical, fuzzy, hesitant fuzzy and intuitionistic fuzzy analytic hierarchy processes applied to industrial maintenance management

A multi-criteria problem involves the consideration of two or more criteria in the prioritization of alternative solutions. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a leading multi-criteria method. Consistency checking is a great advantage of AHP. Since in AHP priorities come from pairwise compariso ns, it is possible to check the consistency of these comparisons. However, a problem occurs when comparisons fail the consistency check. Then, the excluding options are to review some comparisons (Option 1) or to keep the comparisons (Option 2). This paper presents an AHP application in the maintenance management of an industrial plant. Industrial maintenance is not in the core business of an organization. However, maintenance costs can account over 50% of production costs. One of the first maintenance management decisions is on the maintenance strategy. Shall maintenance anticipate the occurrence of failure? Or shall maintenance be performed after an equipment breakdown? Answering those questions with classical AHP resulted in inconsistent comparison matrices. In that case, Fuzzy AHP (FAHP) were applied, avoiding this situation. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to present the applications of four AHP models: Classical AHP and three models of FAHP, including hesitant fuzzy sets and intuitionistic fuzzy sets. The application of Hesitant FAHP (HFAHP) and Intuitionistic FAHP (IFAHP) are the novelty of this paper. The four AHP models were also applied in the same case of maintenance management of an industrial plant. Results were very similar, but experts could express their preferred model.

Analytic hierarchy process: An innovative technique for culturally tailoring evidence-based interventions to reduce health disparities.

Latinos in the United States represent a disproportionate burden of illness and disease and face barriers to accessing health care and related resources. Culturally tailored, evidence‐based interventions hold promise in addressing many of these challenges. Yet, ensuring patient voice is vital in the successful development and implementation of such interventions. Thus, this paper examines the application of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to inform the augmentation and implementation of an evidence‐based chronic disease self‐management programme for underserved Latinos living with both minor depression and chronic illness. The process of AHP allows for direct input from the individuals that would utilize such a programme, including afflicted individuals, their family members and the health educators/promotores that would be responsible for implementation. Specifically, 45 participants, including 15 individuals with chronic disease, 15 family members/caregivers and 15 promotores, partook in the Stakeholder Values Questionnaire, which elicited preferences and values regarding major goals, processes and content for the intervention. AHP was employed to analyse pairwise comparison ratings and to determine differences and similarities across stakeholder groups. This analytical technique allowed for the adaptation of the EBI to stakeholders' specific priorities and preferences and facilitated complex decision‐making. Findings not only shed light on similarities and differences between stakeholder groups, but also the magnitude of these priorities and preferences and allowed the intervention to be driven by the participants, themselves. Applying AHP was a unique opportunity to optimize the decision‐making process to inform cultural adaptation of an EBI while considering multiple viewpoints systematically.
