Ionic liquid with hydrogen bonding reducing leakage charge for enhancing triboelectric performance

Refining the dielectric layer of a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) has been shown to maximize its output performance. Among the available strategies, utilizing an ionic dielectric can improve the output performance notably through the internal formation of an electrical double layer (EDL). However, ions dispersed in the ionic dielectric inevitably cause leakage charge between the surface charged layer and electrode of the ionic dielectric; this reduces the charge density, directly affecting output performance. Here, we investigate optimization of the ionic dielectric of a TENG using various ionic liquids (ILs), with the alkyl chain lengths of the cations and fluoride of anions with different size, to achieve power enhancement based on the EDL effect while concurrently suppressing leakage charge via hydrogen bonding. To elucidate the power enhancement working mechanisms within the ionic dielectric, we characterize the chemical, mechanical, and electrochemical properties of the ionic dielectric, including formation of hydrogen bonds, ionic conductivity, and dielectric constant. These parameters are investigated by varying the ion types, molecular sizes, and concentrations of the ILs within the ionic dielectric. As a results, our findings reveal that an IL of OMIM+PF6- dissolved in a base material of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) significantly enhances the voltage and current by 2.3 and 2.9 times, respectively, compared to those of a conventional TENG with TPU. These findings are expected to be implemented across a wide range of TENGs, paving the path for their advanced applications in next-generation energy harvesting.

A review of the state of art and prospects in energy storage systems for energy harvesting applications

Due to the increasing trend in worldwide energy consumption, many new energy technology systems have emerged in the past decades. The implementation of energy storage system (ESS) technology in energy harvesting systems is significant to achieve flexibility and reliability in fulfilling the load demands. In this paper, several types of energy storage technologies available in the market are discussed to view their benefits and drawbacks. The main aim of this review is to provide a platform for readers especially those who seek to know more about ESS at a glance, to decide which ESS technology is best suited for any specific applications. This review would serve as a base for the initial state to make the right decision by referring to the criterias and characteristics of energy resources to get the optimal ESS technology. A comprehensive comparison among the various types of ESS technologies is outlined and elaborated to provide a better and clearer picture to the readers. Last but not least, the relevant recommendations and alternative choices for services related to the harvesting of solar PV energy are described too. It is hoped that the findings of this review article may be helpful to all readers interested in ESS technology.

Electromechanical strain response of phosphorene nanotubes

Nanomaterials that undergo structural or other property changes upon application of external stimuli are called stimuli responsive materials and are particularly suited for drug delivery, biosensing or artificial muscle applications. Two-dimensional (2D) black phosphorus is an ideal material for such applications due to its remarkable electromechanical response. Given that one-dimensional (1D) black phosphorus nanotubes (PNTs) are calculated to be energetically stable, it is possible that they can undergo similar electromechanical responses to their 2D counterparts, allowing their potential application as nanochannel devices for drug delivery. Using first-principles density functional theory, we investigated the electromechanical response of different-sized PNTs upon charge injection. Upon hole injection, the diameter of the PNTs expands up to a maximum of 30.2% for a (0,15) PNT that is 0.24 nm in diameter. The PNTs become highly p-doped as the valence band maximum crosses the Fermi level and undergoes switching from a direct to indirect band gap. The mechanism behind the electromechanical response was determined through analysis of the structural deformations, charge density distribution and Bader partial charges. It was shown that injection of charge alters the Young’s Modulus of the PNTs, as hole injection weakens the structural integrity of the nanotube, allowing a greater electromechanical response, with PNT-15 showing the largest decrease in the Young’s Modulus of 15.34%. These findings show that 1D PNTs are promising materials for the development of nanoelectromechanical actuators which could be used for drug delivery, energy harvesting or similar applications.

Long short-term memory (LSTM) neural networks for predicting dynamic responses and application in piezoelectric energy harvesting

Abstract Long Short-Time Memory (LSTM) deep neural networks are capable of learning order dependence in sequence problems and capturing long-term, non-linear temporal dependencies between the input and out of a system. With the long-term vision to model dynamical systems to which analytical or numerical methods are impossible or difficult to apply, this paper presents a study of modeling system dynamics and predicting responses using the LSTM networks, which have demonstrated excellent capability in predicting single-mode responses in a prior study. However, the LSTM network exhibits difficulties in modeling and predicting multi-mode responses accurately. To resolve the multi-mode issue, this paper presents an approach that obtains an equivalent network consisting of a set of sub-networks learned on isolated modes, and demonstrates its effectiveness on a simulated 2-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) mass-spring-damper system of nonlinear Duffing springs. The second part of the paper is focused on the application of the proposed approach in piezoelectric energy harvesting. Experiments are conducted on a harvester subjected to random base-motion excitation and exhibiting nonlinearity in its multi-mode response. Both the direct and mode-separation LSTM modeling approaches are applied to predict the output voltage given a random base-motion excitation. The mode-separation approach outperforms the direct approach significantly, and yields an excellent match between the actual and predicted responses. Specifically, for a test electrical voltage response of RMS value 0.2241 V, the difference between the actual test and predicted responses by using the mode-separation approach has an RMS value of 0.0504 V, compared to 0.1645 V obtained by using the direct LSTM approach. It is also much lower than the RMS value of 0.1835 V obtained by using the attention-based LSTM network, another comparison method. Leveraging a deep learning strategy, the validated approach opens up opportunities for accurately modeling energy harvesting systems of high complexities and/or strong nonlinearities.

Synergetic Improvement of Flexoelectric Coefficient in Liquid Crystal Embedded Flexible PVDF Polymer Composite for Energy Harvesting Applications.

Flexoelectricity is the universal electric polarization of dielectrics upon exertion of a non-uniform strain gradient. With the advancement of nano-technology and miniaturization of electronic devices, flexoelectricity holds the promise to address the power requirements for such device operation. The direct flexoelectric effect in liquid crystal (LC) embedded poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) polymer films is examined for the first time by the application of external strain on the films. Physical characterizations such as Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), dielectric spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) are carried out to study the composite films' intrinsic and extrinsic properties like dielectric, crystallinity, and morphologies. The value of the flexoelectric coefficient (μ12) increases with the concentration of LC incorporation. At 3wt%, μ12 attains a maximum value of 68nCm-1, which is more than a threefold increase compared to that of the pure PVDF film. The role of Maxwell-Wagner-Sillars (MWS) polarization in determining flexoelectric polarization in polymer composites is also discussed. Moreover, the influence of the microstructure and domain size formation in determining the flexoelectric response are discussed in detail to infer the behavior of the flexoelectric coefficients of the films. Potential device applications based on this phenomenon have been proposed for future research in sensing and actuation.

Triboelectric power generation performance of polyvinyl alcohol using ZnO–CuO–AgO trimetallic nanoparticles

AbstractTriboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), a new technology for gathering sustainable energy, have attracted much scientific interest. In this study, we describe a unique method for modifying the triboelectric power generation performance of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) by adding ZnO–CuO–AgO (ZCA) trimetallic nanoparticles to improve the performance of TENGs and answer the requirement for ecologically benign and biodegradable materials. Hydrothermal synthesis adopted to create ZnO–CuO–AgO trimetallic nanoparticles ensures a distinctive structure with a large surface area, essential for enhancing triboelectric power generation. From the AFM results, it is evident that 1% PVA/ZCA showed the highest output voltage of 0.27V. Despite following the general trend, at higher concentrations of ZCA nanofiller in the PVA matrix, the enhancement of output voltage is not observed, which can be attributed to the non-uniform distribution. The effect of spin-coated film thickness and nanoparticle concentration on the triboelectric performance of the PVA nanogenerator is studied by monitoring the open-circuit voltage in response to various mechanical stimuli. Finally, the developed biodegradable nanogenerators in this study can be used for sustainable energy harvesting applications such as wearable electronics, self-powered sensors, and environmental monitoring systems.

Synergistic Optimization of Europium‐Doped Yttria for Photoluminescence and Triboelectric Nanogenerator Applications

In recent years, multifunctional applications of the same material have gained wide recognition in various fields. The present study reports the synthesis, characterization, and multifunctional applications of europium (Eu)‐doped yttrium oxide (Y2O3) nanophosphor. Synergistic optimization of Eu‐doped Y2O3 results in enhanced photoluminescence (PL) and triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) performance. Eu‐doped Y2O3 nanophosphors are synthesized using an autocombustion method, and comprehensive characterizations are conducted. The investigations indicate that the Eu doping significantly influences the PL intensity, with the highest emission observed at 3 mol% for powders. The synthesized nanophosphors are blended with silicone to fabricate hybrid films, which are utilized for energy harvesting applications using TENG technology. The TENG devices fabricated with these hybrid films demonstrate a notable relationship between the Eu concentration and the electrical output, achieving peak performance at 1 mol% Eu doping. The maximum output voltage of ≈535 V, short‐circuit current of ≈38 μA, and power density of 800 mW m−2 are observed. Further, TENG is demonstrated in a self‐powered UV photodetector application. The present results contribute to the improvement of sustainable energy technologies and open up a new window for multifunctional materials.

Recent advances of sweat sampling, sensing, energy-harvesting and data-display toward flexible sweat electronics

Sweat contains diverse types of biomarkers that can mirror an individual’s health condition. The forefront research of sweat monitoring primarily focuses on sensing basic parameters, i.e., sweat rate and single electrolyte imbalances in controlled laboratory settings. However, recent works show the potential of sweat for the rich biomarkers in aspects of comprehensive health status display, timely safety alarming, and energy harvesting. The advances in wearable flexible electronics enable continuous, real-time, noninvasive detection of multiple sweat components, providing molecular-level insights into human physiology and psychology information; additionally, the efficient sweat extraction technologies of flexible electronics promote its application in energy harvesting, contributing to advancing a flexible sweat platform. This review comprehensively explores flexible sweat-based electronics, encompassing four key aspects: sweat sampling methods, sweat-based sensors, sweat-based energy harvesters, and sweat data display methods. Firstly, the traditional sweat-based platform is discussed in sweat sampling, sensing, and data analysis. Then, the development of wearable sweat sampling methods is discussed with a comparison of the traditional sweat collection methods. After that, the recent advances in sweat-based biosensors for monitoring diverse sweat analytes, such as the perspiration volume, glucose, lactate, and uric acid levels, are summarized. Subsequently, this review also highlights the recent progress and potential value of sweat-based energy harvesters in sweat-activated batteries and bio-fuel cells. Furthermore, multiple data display methods are proposed to achieve accurate feedback on health status, such as colorimetric techniques, light-emitting diodes, actuators, etc. Finally, this review concludes the main current challenges faced in practical applications of sweat-based bioelectronic systems and proposes a vision for the future evolution of this promising field.

New stable inorganic BX (X= P, As, Sb) biphenylene and graphenylene monolayers: A first-principles investigation

Porous two-dimensional (2D) materials with semiconducting property are promising candidates for a variety of multifunctional energy harvesting applications. Motivated by the successful synthesis of porous organic biphenylene and graphenylene materials, herein, we demonstrate the ground-state properties of a new family of b-BX and g-BX monolayers inorganic biphenylene and graphenylene monolayers using first-principles calculations based on density functional theory. Stability tests show that the b-BX and g-BX monolayers are energetically, mechanically, dynamically, and thermally stable. Moreover, g-BX (X = As, Sb) monolayers are auxetic 2D materials. According to the HSE06 electronic band structure results, these monolayers of b-BX and g-BX exhibit moderate and wide indirect bandgap semiconducting properties. These novel ground state properties of b-BX and g-BX monolayers demonstrate their aforementioned potential applications in addition to optoelectronic, thermoelectric, and flexible electronics. Besides all these newly proposed b-BX and g-BX monolayers expand the family of inorganic biphenylene and graphenylene non-magnetic materials.

Nanoscale Cu2ZnSnSxSe(4−x) (CZTS/Se) for Sustainable Solutions in Renewable Energy, Sensing, and Nanomedicine

The importance and breadth of applications of the family of quaternary chalcogenides with the formula Cu2ZnSnSxSe(4−x) (CZTS/Se) where x = 0–4 are steadily expanding due to the tunable optoelectronic properties of these compounds and the Earth abundance of the elements in their composition. These p-type semiconductors are viewed as a viable alternative to Si, gallium arsenide, CdTe, and CIGS solar cells due to their cost effectiveness, Earth’s crust abundance, and non-toxic elements. Additionally, CZTS/Se compounds have demonstrated notable capabilities beyond solar cells, such as photoelectrochemical CO2 reduction, solar water splitting, solar seawater desalination, hydrogen production, and use as an antibacterial agent. Various routes have been explored for synthesizing pure CZTS/Se nanomaterials and significant efforts have been dedicated to reducing the occurrence of secondary phases. This review focuses on synthetic approaches for CZTS/Se nanomaterials, with emphasis on controlling the size and morphology of the nanoparticles and their recent application in solar energy harvesting and beyond, highlighting challenges in achieving the desired purity required in all these applications.

Droplet-based mechanical transducers modulated by the symmetry of wettability patterns

Asymmetric mechanical transducers have important applications in energy harvesting, signal transmission, and micro-mechanics. To achieve asymmetric transformation of mechanical motion or energy, active robotic metamaterials, as well as materials with asymmetric microstructures or internal orientation, are usually employed. However, these strategies usually require continuous energy supplement and laborious fabrication, and limited transformation modes are achieved. Herein, utilizing wettability patterned surfaces for precise control of the droplet contact line and inner flow, we demonstrate a droplet-based mechanical transducer system, and achieve multimodal responses to specific vibrations. By virtue of the synergistic effect of surface tension and solid-liquid adhesion on the liquid dynamics, the droplet on the patterned substrate can exhibit symmetric/asymmetric vibration transformation when the substrate vibrates horizontally. Based on this, we construct arrayed patterns with distinct arrangements on the substrate, and employ the swarm effect of the arrayed droplets to achieve three-dimensional and multimodal actuation of the target plate under a fixed input vibration. Further, we demonstrate the utilization of the mechanical transducers for vibration management, object transport, and laser modulation. These findings provide a simple yet efficient strategy to realize a multimodal mechanical transducer, which shows significant potential for aseismic design, optical molding, as well as micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS).

Exploring the Mn doped BaTe alloy for spintronics and energy harvesting applications

In the present study, the ferromagnetic semiconductor behavior of Mn doped BaTe is reported along with their physical properties. The calculations are done by full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) approach within spin-polarized density functional theory (SP-DFT). Formation energies were computed to satisfy the stability of reported alloys. The spin-polarization is included in the calculations to study the electronic (band structure (BS), density of states (DOS)) and magnetic characteristics. Ba1−xMnxTe elucidates the magnetic semiconductor nature with direct band gap (Eg) in both spin channels while indirect Eg (1.66 eV) is observed for pure BaTe compound. Stable ferromagnetic (FM) states are vindicated owing to the p-d hybridization which are contributors in inducing magnetic moments (μ B) at interstitial and non-magnetic sites. The optical parameters (reflectivity, absorption coefficient, refraction, optical conductivity and dielectric function) were computed within an energy range of 0–10 eV. Thermoelectric (TE) features are also figured using Boltaz-Trap code in terms of thermal and electrical conductivity, figure of merit, Seebeck coefficient and power factor. The analysis of optical parameters suggests that the considered alloys is active within visible to UV-range, having potential applications in optoelectronic, photovoltaic and thermoelectric applications.

Multimodular Wide-Band Capturing Nanohybrids: Role of Carbon Nanotubes in Slowing Charge Recombination in Supramolecular C60-BisstyrylBODIPY-(Zinc Porphyrin)2 Donor-Acceptor Molecular Cleft.

The importance of diameter-sorted single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) noncovalently bound to a donor-acceptor molecular cleft, 1, in prolonging the lifetime of charge-separated states is successfully demonstrated. For this, using a multistep synthetic procedure, a wide-band capturing, multimodular, C60-bisstyrylBODIPY-(zinc porphyrin)2, molecular cleft 1, was newly synthesized and shown to bind diameter-sorted SWCNTs. The molecular cleft and its supramolecular assemblies were characterized by a suite of physicochemical techniques. Free-energy calculations suggested that both the (6,5) and (7,6) SWCNTs bound to 1 act as hole acceptors during the photoinduced sequential electron transfer events. Consequently, selective excitation of 1 in 1:SWCNT hybrids revealed a two-step electron transfer, leading to the formation of charge-separated states. Due to the distant separation of the cation and anion radical species within the supramolecules, improved lifetimes of the charge-separated states could be achieved. The present supramolecular strategy of improving charge separation involving SWCNTs and donor-acceptor molecular clefts highlights the potential application of these hybrid materials for various light energy harvesting and optoelectronic applications.

Structure-Foldable and Performance-Tailorable PI Paper-Based Triboelectric Nanogenerators Processed and Controlled by Laser-Induced Graphene.

Laser-induced graphene (LIG) technology has provided a new manufacturing strategy for the rapid and scalable assembling of triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG). However, current LIG-based TENG commonly rely on polymer films, e.g., polyimide (PI) as both friction material and carbon precursor of electrodes, which limit the structural diversity and performance escalation due to its incapability of folding and creasing. Using specialized PI paper composed of randomly distributed PI fibers to substantially enhance its foldability, this work creates a new type of TENG, which are structurally foldable and stackable, and performance tailorable. First, by systematically investigating the laser power-regulated performance of single-unit TENG, the open-circuit voltage can be effectively improved. By further exploiting the folding process, multiple TENG units can be assembled together to form multi-layered structures to continuously expand the open-circuit voltage from 5.3 to 34.4Vcm-2, as the increase of friction units from 1 to 16. Last, by fully utilizing the unique structure and performance, representative energy-harvesting and smart-sensing applications are demonstrated, including a smart shoe to recognize running motions and power LEDs, a smart leaf to power a thermometer by wind, a matrix sensor to recognize writing trajectories, as well as a smart glove to recognize different objects.

Terahertz and Infrared Plasmon Polaritons in PtTe2 Type-II Dirac Topological Semimetal.

Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are electromagnetic excitations existing at the interface between a metal and a dielectric. SPPs provide a promising path in nanophotonic devicesforlight manipulation at the micro and nanoscale with applications in optoelectronics, biomedicine, and energy harvesting. Recently, SPPs have been extended to unconventional materials like graphene, transparent oxides, superconductors, and topological systems characterized by linearly dispersive electronic bands. In this case, three-dimensional Dirac and Weyl semimetals offer a promising frontier for infrared (IR) and terahertz (THz) radiation tuning by topologically-protected SPPs.In this work, we investigate the THz-IR optical response, of platinum ditelluride (PtTe2) type-II Dirac topological semimetal films grown on Si substrates. We detect SPPs generated on microscale ribbon arrays of PtTe2in the far-field limit,finding an excellent agreement among measurements, theoretical model, and electromagnetic simulation data.The far-field measurements have been further supported by near-field infrared data which indicate a strong electric field enhancement due to the SPP excitation near the ribbon edges. The whole results of this paper, indicate that PtTe2ribbon array appears an idealactive layout for geometrically tunable SPPs thus inspiring a new fashion of optically tunable materials in the technologically demanding THz and IR spectrum. Highly conductive triple network hydrogel thermoelectrochemical cells with low-grade heat harvesting

Quasi-solid thermoelectrochemical cells (TECs) are promising candidates for wearable energy harvesting devices as they enable the continuous conversion of low-grade heat into electricity. However, the TEC performance remains limited by inadequate ionic conductivity. Herein, a triple-network hydrogel consisting of polyacrylamide/poly(vinyl alcohol)/cellulose nanofiber (PAAM/PVA/CNF) is synthesized via a freeze-thaw method, and soaked in the thermogalvanic redox couple Fe(CN)63−/4– as the electrolyte. By optimizing the polymer composition and soaking time, a superior ionic conductivity of 168 mS cm−1 is achieved while maintaining a thermopower of ∼1.69 mV K−1. The high ionic conductivity is provided by the fractal microstructure of the hydrogel, as revealed by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). Moreover, the as-fabricated thermoelectric generator array exhibits an exceptional power output of 28.7 μW at a temperature difference of 11.9 K. This work provides insights on the development of wearable thermoelectric materials for practical and reliable energy harvesting applications.

Li-metal free “in aqua” lithiation and re-lithiation of protected graphite anode for 4-V class aqueous lithium-ion capacitor

Lithium-ion capacitors, typically composed of a capacitive cathode and a pre-lithiated graphite anode in non-aqueous electrolyte, are promising power sources for energy harvesting applications with higher energy densities than standard electrochemical double layer capacitors. Superior energy density can be achieved by using pseudocapacitive cathodes in an aqueous electrolyte coupled with a water-stable protected anode. Lithiation of the graphite anode is one of the performance-governing processes influencing the working voltage, energy density, and cyclability of such power sources. Here, we report an effective, time-efficient, and safe lithiation procedure without the need of lithium metal or lithium-containing compounds as electrodes. The “in aqua” electrochemical lithiation of graphite is performed by using an over-sized activated carbon cathode and the salt dissolved in the aqueous electrolyte as the source of lithium ions. Subsequently, the protected anode (LixC6 + Li) is used as the counter electrode in an aqueous hybrid supercapacitor showing ∼70 % of capacity retention after 10,000 cycles. Nonetheless, the cycle life and capacity retention of the protected anode was further extended via an “in aqua” re-lithiation process allowing a 95 % retention of the initial capacity after 10,000 galvanostatic charge/discharge cycles.

Optoelectronic and transport properties of Lead-Free halide based Na2AgTlZ6 (Z = Cl, Br, I) double perovskites for energy harvesting applications

The bandgap engineering and deliberate band edge manipulation of perovskites make them potential candidates for the photovoltaic industry. Here we theoretically investigate the structure, density of states, and photovoltaic and thermoelectric characteristics of Na2AgTlZ6 (Z = Cl, Br, I) using WIEN2k code. The incorporation of Br and I at the Cl site caused the increase in lattice constant which leads to the decrease in bulk modulus and Debye temperature. The computed values of Poisson (<0.26) and Pugh (<1.75) ratio verified their brittle nature. The bandgap analysis reveals direct bandgap nature and bandgap value lie in the visible region for parent composition and infrared and far infrared when Cl is replaced with Br and I. The density of state plots uncovers the shifting of energy states in valence and conduction bands towards the Fermi level with the increasing number of electrons in the halogens. The increase in the value of dielectric constant, refractive index, and shifting of peaks towards lower energy value is witnessed with atomic number of halogen atoms. The viability of these compositions for thermoelectric devices is further confirmed when electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient dependent Figure of merit and power factor are evaluated in the temperature range of 200–800 K. In addition, the anisotropic nature of studied compositions is explored through the computation of the modulus of elasticity including Young’s modulus, Shear modulus in addition to compressibility, and Poisson’s ratio.

Numerical investigation of smart material-based structures for vibration energy-harvesting applications

Abstract The present work deals with energy-harvesting devices, which are useful in scavenging power using piezoelectric materials. Utilizing classical beam theory and classical plate theory, finite element modelling has been carried out to optimize the performance of output power of a cantilever beam and a flexible rectangular plate. Harmonic oscillations and base excitation will be the two different forcing functions used to drive the system. Based on this, numerical investigations of the performance of output power for the piezoelectric cantilever beam and flexible rectangular plate with different cases are considered. The present work is also useful for designing the piezoelectric cantilever beams and plates to extract maximum output power within the frequency ranges from 0 to 200 Hz. Numerical investigations on the piezoelectric cantilever beam and flexible rectangular plate with different cases reveal that the performance of output power is influenced by factors like load resistance, applications of with and without host structures, and different design parameters like unimorph, bimorph, embedded, line- and cross-type piezoelectric patch arrangements.

Design and experimental investigation of a positive feedback magnetic-coupled piezoelectric energy harvester

A positive feedback magnetic-coupled piezoelectric energy harvester (PFM) is proposed to address the limitations of current piezoelectric energy collectors, including restricted acquisition direction, limited acquisition bandwidth, and low energy output. Firstly, the dynamic theoretical model of the energy harvester was established, and the optimization factors were explored, providing a solid theoretical foundation for subsequent research endeavors. The energy capture characteristics of rectangular beam and compound trapezoidal beam were compared through finite element simulation analysis. Subsequently, an experimental platform was constructed and an optimized experimental methodology was devised to analyze the energy capture characteristics and enhance the performance of the energy harvester. The results demonstrate that the positive feedback magnetic-coupled PFM with a trapezoidal beam exhibits superior energy capture efficiency. Furthermore, it is observed that the optimized energy harvester possesses wide frequency coverage, multi-directional capabilities, low-frequency adaptability, and facilitates easy vibration. When the 45 kΩ resistor is connected in series and subjected to a longitudinal external excitation amplitude of 0.5 g, it is capable of generating an average voltage and power output of 4.20 V and 0.39 mW respectively at a vibration frequency of 9 Hz. Similarly, when exposed to a transverse external excitation amplitude of 1 g, it can produce an average voltage output of 6.2 V and power output of 0.85 mW at a vibration frequency of 19 Hz. When the inclination angle of the energy harvester is set to 35 degrees, the maximum voltage output occurs at a frequency of 18 Hz and the Z-axis to X-axis force ratio of the energy harvester is 1.428. These research findings can serve as valuable references for piezoelectric energy harvesting applications in self-powered microelectronic systems.
