The Research of Computer Complex Network Reliability Evaluation Method Based on GABP Algorithm

With the wide application of computer network, network security issues become increasingly prominent. Currently, the most commonly used network security evaluation method is risk assessment method, as well as to test and evaluation system of safety degree by software vulnerability scanning tools and so on. However, network security is related to computer, communication, physics, mathematics, biology, management, social, and many other fields, which is complicated system engineering. As a result, poor operational safety exist in the existing method, thus in this paper, the research of computer complex network reliability evaluation method based on GABP algorithm is put forward.

Elgamal Signature for Content Distribution with Network Coding[

Network coding is a slightly new forwarding technique which receives various applications in traditional computer networks, wireless sensor networks and peer-to-peer systems. However, network coding is inherently vulnerable to pollution attacks by malicious nodes in the network. If any fake node in the network spreads polluted packets, the pollution of packets will spread quickly since the output of (even an) honest node is corrupted if at least one of the incoming packets is corrupted. There have been adapted a few ordinary signature schemes to network coding that allows nodes to check the validity of a packet without decoding. In this paper, we propose a scheme uses ElGamal signature in network coding. Our scheme makes use of the linearity property of the packets in a coded system, and allows nodes to check the integrity of the packets received easily.

Policy Misuse Detection in Communication Networks with Hidden Markov Models

With the recent advances in computer networking applications, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are widely used to detect the malicious connections in computer networks. IDS provide a high level security between organizations while preventing misuses and intrusions in data communication through internet or any other network. Adherence to network usage policies is crucial since a system or network administrator needs to be informed whether the information is compromised, if the resources are appropriately used or if an attacker exploits a comprised service. Server flow authentication via protocol detection analyzes penetrations to a communication network. Generally, port numbers in the packet headers are used to detect the protocols. However, it is easy to re-map port numbers via proxies and changing the port number via compromised host services. Using port numbers may be misleading for a system administrator to understand the natural flow of communications through network. It is also difficult to understand the user behavior when the traffic is encrypted since there is only packet level information to be considered. In this paper, we present a novel approach via Hidden Markov Models to detect user behavior in network traffic. We perform the detection process on timing measures of packets. The results are promising and we obtained classification accuracies between %70 and %100.

Study of Computer Network Resource Sharing for Advanced Engineering Applications

Resource sharing is based on network resource sharing, in which many Internet enthusiasts share the information collected by themselves with the world through some platforms for not pursuing any interests. Along with the wide application of computer network in the groups of users, a good communication platform between the Internet and users has begun to be produced, and also network resources gradually trend to the development of resources sharing, but are no longer simply enjoyed by a certain user. To analyze and further know the advantages of computer network resource sharing, it is necessary to combine with their actual application conditions. This is analyzed in this paper.

The maximum flow problem of uncertain network

The maximum flow problem is one of the classic combinatorial optimization problems with many applications in electrical power systems, communication networks, computer networks and logistic networks. The goal of the problem is to find the maximum amount of flow from the source to the sink in a network. A network is called uncertain if the arc capacities of the network are uncertain variables. The main purpose of this paper is to solve the maximum flow in an uncertain network by under the framework of uncertainty theory.

Scalable Hypergrid k-NN-Based Online Anomaly Detection in Wireless Sensor Networks

Online anomaly detection (AD) is an important technique for monitoring wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which protects WSNs from cyberattacks and random faults. As a scalable and parameter-free unsupervised AD technique, $(k)$-nearest neighbor (kNN) algorithm has attracted a lot of attention for its applications in computer networks and WSNs. However, the nature of lazy-learning makes the kNN-based AD schemes difficult to be used in an online manner, especially when communication cost is constrained. In this paper, a new kNN-based AD scheme based on hypergrid intuition is proposed for WSN applications to overcome the lazy-learning problem. Through redefining anomaly from a hypersphere detection region (DR) to a hypercube DR, the computational complexity is reduced significantly. At the same time, an attached coefficient is used to convert a hypergrid structure into a positive coordinate space in order to retain the redundancy for online update and tailor for bit operation. In addition, distributed computing is taken into account, and position of the hypercube is encoded by a few bits only using the bit operation. As a result, the new scheme is able to work successfully in any environment without human interventions. Finally, the experiments with a real WSN data set demonstrate that the proposed scheme is effective and robust.

On the 2-MRS Problem in a Tree with Unreliable Edges

This paper extends the well-known most reliable source (1-MRS) problem in unreliable graphs to the 2-most reliable source (2-MRS) problem. Two kinds of reachable probability models of node pair in unreliable graphs are considered, that is, the superior probability and united probability. The 2-MRS problem aims to find a node pair in the graph from which the expected number of reachable nodes or the minimum reachability is maximized. It has many important applications in large-scale unreliable computer or communication networks. The #P-hardness of the 2-MRS problem in general graphs follows directly from that of the 1-MRS problem. This paper deals with four models of the 2-MRS problem in unreliable trees where every edge has an independent working probability and devises a cubic-time and quadratic-space dynamic programming algorithm, respectively, for each model.

A Survey on Biologically Inspired Algorithms for Computer Networking

Biologically Inspired Algorithms (BIAs), processes that mimic how organisms solve problems, offer a number of attributes well suited to addressing challenges presented by future computer networking scenarios. Such future networks will require more scalable, adaptive and robust designs to address the dynamic changes and potential failures caused by high heterogeneity and large scale networks. A variety of biological algorithms demonstrate characteristics desirable to network design, and significant effort has been placed on analyzing and developing the corresponding BIAs and applying them to computer networking applications. This paper provides a comprehensive survey of BIAs for the computer networking field, in which different BIAs are organized and explored based on their: (1) biological source; (2) mathematical model; (3) major application; (4) advantages to corresponding "classic" approach; (5) limitations and border conditions; and (6) potential directions for future applications. The paper also compares performance amongst each type of BIA, and compares BIAs that are inspired by different biological sources but are applicable to similar networking applications. The paper concludes by offering a framework for understanding the application of BIAs to problems in the computer networking space.

A Cloud-Based Design of Smart Car Information Services

Although modern Smart Car technologies are growing rapidly, there are many challenges to be addressed. The limited processing capabilities of the contemporary in-car computers in smart cars may cause bottlenecks in smart control. The content in smart car applications can hardly be extended. In addition, the traditional software installation approach that is used in smart cars is neither economical nor convenient. To address these issues in smart cars, this paper presents a Cloud-based Information Integration Platform that has the ability to improve flexibility and enhance the value of smart cars. In this work, the architecture of the Cloud-based Information Integration Platform was designed based on new technologies such as Cloud computing, Web Services, and Controller Area Network Applications. This service-oriented solution has a vertically integrated architecture that uses full information gathering and service driven synergies. To achieve the smart control and information sharing in smart cars, we also designed a Smart Car Information Service as the user interface to implement smart car applications through customized business processes. This fills the information processing gap between the smart car and cloud computing. The proposed platform can be used for different usage scenarios, such as car diagnosis, car repair facilitation, etc.

Design and Implementation of Heterogeneous Database Exchange Based on Xml

Data exchange is one of the important components of all kinds of computer network applications, is the main method to remove the “information isolated island” and is also the difficulty during the development of informalization. This paper presents a method which converts the relational database to XML(Extensible Markup Language). The method can be used to dump data between Heterogeneous Databases using XML. This paper also explains a program for implementing exchange between heterogeneous databases with PHP Programming Language by XML. The program dumps and backups between MySQL and MSSQL using XML as intermediate storage. Both ADODB and native function of PHP are used to connect the databases, and there is a comparison and evaluation about pros and cons between them. SimpleXML class of PHP is used for reading and writing.

A comprehensive study of path-level performance evaluation and traffic aggregation for discrete-time tandem network

A simple and systematic path-level performance evaluation method mainly composed of a decomposition technique and a parameter-fitting algorithm is proposed in this paper. With comprehensive considerations, this method works for a discrete-time tandem network with input of two-state Markov-modulated Bernoulli processes (MMBPs), which have potential applications in computer and communication networks. Of course, this proposed method offers convenience of traffic aggregation and decomposition for multiple MMBPs. Furthermore, it can be easily extended to work for tree-type networks. To validate the proposed method, several experiments are conducted to demonstrate that the proposed method has good accuracy in terms of delay, delay variance, and packet loss probability. For further checking the effectiveness of this method, comparisons with some closely related methods in the literature are also made.

Structural Models for Dual Modality Data With Application to Network Tomography

We propose models for the joint distribution of two modalities for network flow volumes. While these models are motivated by computer network applications, the underlying structural assumptions are more generally applicable. In the case of computer network flow volumes, this corresponds to joint modeling for packet and byte volumes and enables computer network tomography, whose goal is to estimate characteristics of source-destination flows based on aggregate link measurements. Network tomography is a prototypical example of a linear inverse problem on graphs. We introduce two generative models for the relation between packet and byte volumes, establish identifiability of their parameters, and discuss different estimating procedures. The proposed estimators of the flow characteristics are evaluated using both simulated and emulated data. Finally, the proposed models allow us to estimate parameters of the packet size distribution, thus providing additional insights into the composition of network traffic.

Brain activity associated with graphic emoticons. The effect of abstract faces in communication over a computer network

AbstractIn this paper, we describe the brain activities that are associated with graphic emoticons by using functional MRI (fMRI). We use various types of faces, from abstract to photorealistic, in computer network applications. A graphics emoticon is an abstract face in communication over a computer network. In this research, we created various graphic emoticons for the fMRI study and the graphic emoticons were classified according to friendliness and level of arousal. We investigated the brain activities of participants who were required to evaluate the emotional valence of the graphic emoticons (happy or sad). The experimental results showed that not only the right inferior frontal gyrus and the cingulate gyrus, but also the inferior and middle temporal gyrus and the fusiform gyrus, were found to be activated during the experiment. Furthermore, it is possible that the activation of the right inferior frontal gyrus and the cingulate gyrus is related to the type of abstract face. Since the inferior and middle temporal gyrus were activated, even though the graphic emoticons are static, we may perceive graphic emoticons as dynamic and living agents. Moreover, it is believed that text and graphics emoticons play an important role in enriching communication among users. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
