Simulation of Water Absorption of Epoxy Reinforced Composite Using Polynomial Model on MATLAB Environment

Application of MATLAB software for water absorption test, which entails the rate by which a material diffuses and retain water molecule, on epoxy reinforced with coconut shell fiber (CSF), aluminum oxide (Al2O3), and silicon carbide (SiC) composites have been investigated. Five specimens (E, S1, S2, S3 and S4) were developed using compression molding on different percentage of fibers. The water absorption test was conducted using suitable American Society for Testing and Material (ASTM) which involves different water solutions. It was observed that sample ‘E’ shows maximum water absorption maybe due to absence of reinforced fibers. Specimen S1 indicated less water absorption, maybe due to presence of natural filler. Sample S4 shows trend on least water absorption, maybe due presence of higher percentage of natural synthetic fibers. Validation of the experiments using 2020 Commercial License Model MATLAB software, which were compared with the experimental result using the root mean square error (RMSE) statistical parameter and graph of point of intercept. The predicted data developed through the MATLAB software, established 95% confidence bounds on RMSE, which indicated 0.012 range of standard deviation between the experimental and simulation results, which avoids the under fitting and over fitting problem, also, when compared using a graph of point intercept, followed the same trend of result from the experiment.

Evaluation of the machinability of CW614N brass alloy

Brass alloys are widely used materials for general and industrial applications. However, the lead content in them forces manufacturers to develop new ecological types, the properties of which must be gradually specified in order for the product to be produced and processed more efficiently. The article deals with the evaluation of the machinability of CW614 brass by investigating the influence of technological parameters on the surface roughness of the machined surface and the intensity of vibrations during machining. The measured data were statistically processed; with the help of regression analysis, mathematical formulations of the influence of input parameters on monitored variables were defined and based on them, functional dependencies were plotted in the MATLAB software application. The results showed that at the CW614N brass alloy machining, the feed rate has the greatest influence on the surface roughness Ra, but the depth of cut has the greatest influence on the vibration intensity.

<abstract><p>We investigated the leptospirosis epidemic model by using Caputo and Fabrizio fractional derivatives. Picard's successive iterative method and Sumudu transform are taken into consideration for developing the iterative solutions for the leptospirosis disease. Employing nonlinear functional analysis, the stability and uniqueness of the proposed model are established. Sensitivity analysis is taken into account to highlight the most sensitive parameters corresponding to the basic reproductive number. Various solutions to the proposed system have been interpolated by graphs with the application of Matlab software.</p></abstract>

APPLICATION OF MATHLAB APPLICATIONS IN IMPROVING STUDENT COMPETENCE UMSU MATHEMATICS EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM NUMERICAL METHOD COURSE 2019-2020 ACADEMIC YEAR

This study aims to describe the role of MATHLAB software in numerical method lectures, improve students' ability to solve numerical problems through learning assisted by MATHLAB software, improve students' abilities in formulating algorithms through learning assisted by MATHLAB software, improve students' abilities in programming through assisted learning MATLAB software; and describing student responses after numerical learning assisted by MATLAB software. This research is a quantitative research. To prove the hypothesis and answer the problems in this study, several statistical tests were carried out as follows:1. Test the description of the data, namely: making a data frequency table, testing the average value, and standard deviation.2. Prerequisite test, namely: normality test with Liliefors table and homogeneity test.3. Hypothesis testing, namely: statistical tests to see how much improvement in student competence is using the MATLAB software application in the numerical method course. The tests used are regression and correlation tests to see the increase in student competence using the MATLAB software application. The research method used is experimental. The population of this research is UMSU 7th semester students in the 2019/2020 academic year as many as 98 students.

:In the course of digital signal processing, MATLAB software can be used in combination to change the traditional teaching form, to show students rich teaching content, to stimulate students’ interest in learning and to improve teaching quality.This paper first introduces the characteristics of digital signal processing course, and then analyzes the advantages of MATLAB software and digital signal processing course. The application of MATLAB software in digital signal processing course teaching is explored in detail in order to provide reference for teaching practice.

Optimisation and Reliability for Geometrical Tolerance Value against Positional Characteristic in Rotational Shaft System

In the process of manufacture and installation, geometrical dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) should be taken into consideration to improve reliability and reduce the adverse impact on critical parts of the rotating system. GD&T must be considered by manufacturers and assembly worker. This paper presents an analysis of geometrical tolerance (GT) values in rotational shaft using the genetic algorithm (GA) method. GA optimization uses a geometric mathematical model. Mathematical models were developed using the offset and algebraic methods to calculate the ideal geometric features that best fit a set of positioning points based on the standard equations criteria. The calculation using the Matlab software application will use the optimal GA parameter. There is a combination of four genetic parameters associated with size population, crossover, mutation and stop state will develop algorithm performance which will produce optimum GT value. The geometric tolerance value for the position characteristic was analyzed to determine and predict the probability and reliability shaft in rotational system. Comparative values of each GT value are compared to find out the reliability values obtained can be used and verify the GT value requirements require mathematical representation. Tolerance analysis at the design stage to evaluate and predict quality by considering the probability of failure rates. The Actual value of the radius must be small from the allowable radius (Ract <Rallow) to cope with the high failure rate throughout the operating period. Due to dynamic nature of the shaft round and the possibility of a variable size of shafts, the GT value should be analyzed to ensure that the value obtained is correct and can be optimum solution to this problem. The GT value to be considered is at the center of the shaft involved which will affect the relevant components. Impact of GT value on the destruction of system critical component such as bearings, gear and couplers as benchmark for review for the optimization of shaft geometric tolerances in rotating machines to overcome the problem and improve concentricity shaft. The contribution of this study is to examine the effect of shaft size and the value of geometric tolerance on system reliability. Estimating and predicting levels of reliability more accurately improves system life, knows the system's impact accurately, knows the security level of a rotating system and also knows the quality of the mechanism at the design level.

ІНФОРМАЦІЙНО-ВИМІРЮВАЛЬНА СИСТЕМА ДЛЯ ВИЗНАЧЕННЯ АМПЛІТУДИ РЕЗОНАНСНИХ КОЛИВАНЬ ЗАКРІПЛЕНОГО ПОЛІМЕРНОГО СТРИЖНЯ НА ОСНОВІ ЦИФРОВОЇ ОБРОБКИ ТА АНАЛІЗУ ЗОБРАЖЕННЯ

For the experimental determination of the real part of the complex dynamic Young's modulus and the tangent of the mechanical loss angle of the polymeric materials, the method of shear oscillations of the fixed sample is used. The essence of the method is to measure the amplitude of the resonance oscillations of the sample, in the form of a rod when the frequency of the disturbing force changes. Based on the values of the amplitude of the transverse oscillations of the sample at different frequencies, a resonance curve is constructed, the parameters of which are the oscillation frequency and the relative amplitude. The structure of the information-measuring system for determining in real time the amplitude of the resonant oscillations of the rod in the set frequency range is presented. The determination of the amplitude of the oscillations is based on the digital processing and analysis of the image of the sample obtained by the webcam. The information management system hardware and digital image processing algorithm is implemented in the MATLAB software application using the capabilities of the graphical user environment and the NI-VISA package. The proposed sequence of operations of digital image processing which consists of capturing RGB image, converting the image to monochrome, improving the image by changing the brightness of pixels, local averaging with defined pixel window size and impulse response of the filter, border selection on the image and binarization of the image by clipping threshold of brightness. The algorithm for determining the amplitude of oscillations is based on the determination of the right and left boundaries and the linear size of the area of the binary image with pixel values equal to one relative to the vertical baseline. In addition to determining the left and right boundaries, the algorithm provides for the adjustment of the vertical baseline to the image of the sample oscillations. Based on the obtained results the possibility of constructing a resonance curve of the relative amplitudes of oscillations of the sample from the frequency of its excitation is shown.

Applying Linear Programming in Employee Scheduling Problem during Off-Season: A Case Study

To improve competitive positioning, the effective utilisation of resources has become a favourable consideration for small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs). Among others, the scheduling of staff in SMEs has been regarded as a common problem. So, the present work is an attempt to solve this problem, particularly during the low production days. The study aim is achieved in steps. In the first step, the associated query is transformed into the linear programming problem, and in the second step, the application of MATLAB software is utilized to solve the problem. As a case study, the issue of scheduling for 8-hour shift is discussed. Study results are found in favour of both workers and employees. The study's assumptions may treat as its limitations.

APLIKASI REPRESENTASI REAL TIME GELOMBANG ELECTROCARDIOGRAPH DISKRIT

Penelitian ini membuat metode untuk merepresentasikan secara real time durasi gelombang tiap siklus dari rekaman elektrokardiograf (selanjutnya disingkat EKG) data diskrit. Data gelombang yang berupa hasil grafik, diolah melalui pengolahan sinyal digital sehingga hasil gelombang didapatkan berupa data diskrit dan bisa diolah kembali menjadi datagrafik. Durasi waktu antara peak R to peak R digunakan sebagai periode waktu tiap siklus. Pergeseran waktu mundur setengah HR merupakan akhir gelombang dari siklus sebelumnya dalam berupa tampilan aplikasi sehingga siapapun dapat mengaplikasikan dan melihat data rekam medis secara real time dengan data masukan berupa data diskrit. Data diskrit dari MIT-BIH dan hasil pengukuran yang dilakukan sendiri digunakan sebagai data untuk memperoleh jumlah cycle dalam rekaman EKG, posisi R tiap siklus, durasi tiap siklus, dan nilai heart rate dengan menggunakan aplikasi software MATLAB. Hasil penelitian berupa data rekaman hasil EKG yang disimpan tidak lagi dalam bentuk gambar melainkan data diskrit, yang dapat ditampilkan secara real time.

PENGEMBANGAN BAHAN AJAR BERBASIS SOFTWARE MATLAB PADA MATA KULIAH METODE NUMERIK

Teaching materials is one of the important aspects of a lecture process, in which there are clues to how a student can achieve the target lectures. Algorithm is a major part of the numerical course that is widely used in various disciplines, such as data processing of experimental results, as well as in product sales model. Through the application of Matlab software, mastery of the algorithm in solving problems with various methods can be tested. The research method used is Research and Development, while the development model using Didaktis Design Research (Didactical Design Research / DDR). Mathematics Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University Singaperbangsa Karawang, is the place of research implementation. This research involves students contracting numerical course courses conducted in the semester V. Matlab programming packages provide the thinking space of the user in designing a problem solving which is then translated into the corresponding instructions. Given the limitations of teaching-learning variations or textbooks with software-based, it is hoped that the outcomes of this research can add references and reading materials to those interested in applied mathematics.

Design of the Control System for Chinese Mitten Crab Nurturing Megalopa Based on Fuzzy-Control Technology

Using the indoor control system of breeding mitten crab could increase the survival rate and quality effectively. This paper based on the analysis of environmental water quality of breeding mitten crab, according to the characteristics of crab cultivation of water environment, then the method of fuzzy control was proposed to realize the automatic control, the application of MATLAB software complete the design of the fuzzy controller. Combining STC12C5A08AD single chip as mainly control unit and fuzzy control method, design the hardware and software of the crab cultivation environment control system, and the design of fuzzy controller. In the case of the pH control test results, the system performance approximately for the time constant of a character of first-order inertial of 27.535s, which caters the requirement of pH value of crab cultivation. The invention of this controlling system can be a fundament of control of aquaculture environment.

Study on Treatment of Wastewater System Based on ARM

In this paper, ARM processor and real-time embedded operating system will be used in controlling system of sewage disposal, compared with the traditional controlling system of sewage disposal online PLC, not only improved the timeliness, reliability and scalability, but also enhanced the system speed. While, in order to control the low-cost, the Fuzzy-PID compound control algorithm used to control the amount of purifying agent, the algorithm can be adapt to the nonlinear and time-varying and improve accuracy. In this paper, the application of Matlab software to carry on the simulation experiment, proved the feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithm at last.

Application of MATLAB-Based Regression Analysis Model in Enterprises

Prediction analysis is the prerequisite and basis of decision-making. Regression analysis is one of quantitative forecasting methods for prediction and forecasting of the variable change based on causality. Research on Thin Film Thickness Uniformity for Deposition of Rectangular Planar Sputtering Target

Abstract Magnetron sputtering coating is widely applied in the large area deposition, and thin film thickness uniformity, deposition ratio, utilization ratio of target material and other problems in coating industry are paid great attention. As one of the most important parameters for testing sputtering process, the study on the related issues of thin film uniformity is of great theoretical and practical value. The fundamental theory on deposition of sputtering coating is analyzed based on existing theories, and the modelof deposition flux that is composed of fast- and slow-moving particles is applied to the rectangular planar magnetron sputtering target. Through the application of Matlab software and the numerical calculation of thin film deposition uniformity of a rectangular planar magnetron sputtering target, it is easy to come to the following conclusions: the thickness uniformity will reduce with the increase of target-substrate distance and with the decrease of erosion zone of the target ends. When the erosion zone of the target ends increases to some extend, the thin film thickness uniformity will become higher with the increase of target-substrate distance and then become lower. There are two tendencies for thin film thickness uniformity with the increase of length-width ratio of target erosion zone, that is, it will become a little lower when the length is a constant, or become higher when the width is a constant. And the thin film thickness uniformity will become lower with the decrease of po wer and the increase of gas temperature. The deposition rate will become higher with the decrease of target-substrate distance, or the increase of power and gas temperature.

The Application of MATLAB Software on the College Network Teaching Platform of the Mathematics Experiment

In order to improve the teaching level of mathematics experiment of college and establish the network teaching platform and the study on the application of MATLAB on the mathematics experiment was carried out. Firstly, the MATLAB software was introduced; and then the application of the MATLAB on the mathematics experiment of college network platform was analyzed. Accounting for uncertainty in DEMs from repeat topographic surveys: improved sediment budgets

AbstractRepeat topographic surveys are increasingly becoming more affordable, and possible at higher spatial resolutions and over greater spatial extents. Digital elevation models (DEMs) built from such surveys can be used to produce DEM of Difference (DoD) maps and estimate the net change in storage terms for morphological sediment budgets. While these products are extremely useful for monitoring and geomorphic interpretation, data and model uncertainties render them prone to misinterpretation. Two new methods are presented, which allow for more robust and spatially variable estimation of DEM uncertainties and propagate these forward to evaluate the consequences for estimates of geomorphic change. The first relies on a fuzzy inference system to estimate the spatial variability of elevation uncertainty in individual DEMs while the second approach modifies this estimate on the basis of the spatial coherence of erosion and deposition units. Both techniques allow for probabilistic representation of uncertainty on a cell‐by‐cell basis and thresholding of the sediment budget at a user‐specified confidence interval. The application of these new techniques is illustrated with 5 years of high resolution survey data from a 1 km long braided reach of the River Feshie in the Highlands of Scotland. The reach was found to be consistently degradational, with between 570 and 1970 m3 of net erosion per annum, despite the fact that spatially, deposition covered more surface area than erosion. In the two wetter periods with extensive braid‐plain inundation, the uncertainty analysis thresholded at a 95% confidence interval resulted in a larger percentage (57% for 2004–2005 and 59% for 2006–2007) of volumetric change being excluded from the budget than the drier years (24% for 2003–2004 and 31% for 2005–2006). For these data, the new uncertainty analysis is generally more conservative volumetrically than a standard spatially‐uniform minimum level of detection analysis, but also produces more plausible and physically meaningful results. The tools are packaged in a wizard‐driven Matlab software application available for download with this paper, and can be calibrated and extended for application to any topographic point cloud (x,y,z). MATLAB software application for power transmission simulation

This paper refers to modern problems in using the MATLAB program package for the simulation of motor vehicle transmission functions. The main goal is to contribute to the development of the process of motor vehicle transmission design by combining different methods and procedures comprising factors which determine the transmission process and the power parameters transformations (torque and angle velocity). The paper particularly focuses on the simulation of the main friction clutch during vehicle starting. The process of the simulation model design and the elaborate mathematical models which form its basis are described in detail. .

Evaluation of mitochondrial membrane potential using a computerized device with a tetraphenylphosphonium-selective electrode

Mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψ m) plays important roles in the normal function of cells and in pathobiochemical situations. The application of ion-selective electrodes for the measurement of Δψ m is important for studying normal biological reactions and pathways and mitochondrial diseases. We constructed and optimized a computerized device for real-time monitoring of the Δψ m, which included modification of tetraphenylphosphonium (TPP +)-selective membrane that improved reproducibility of the TPP +-selective electrode. Application of MATLAB software increased the sensitivity of the system. We tested our improved device for membrane potential measurements of isolated mitochondria (in absolute scale of millivolts). In addition, we assessed relative changes of Δψ m (as changes in TPP + concentration) of digitonin-permeabilized cells (hepatocytes, control transmitochondrial cybrids, HeLa G and BSC-40) after addition of substrates, inhibitors, and uncoupler of respiratory chain. Our system can be successfully used for studies of many aspects of the regulation of mitochondrial bioenergetics and as a diagnostic tool for mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation disorders.
