Research design and production of ambient atmosphere monitoring control system internet of things technology application

In this paper, presents solutions to application internet of things (IoT) technology in the field of high-tech agriculture, livestock in Vietnam is currently a new problem. The system includes an application on a smartphone; access the parameters via the web, on the computer. The product has a monitoring function: the ambient atmosphere indicators of the pig farm (temperature, humidity, CO<sub>2</sub>, NH<sub>3</sub>, H<sub>2</sub>S gas, and Biogas pressure), on the website 24/24 hour and control automatic control monitoring system. This is a problem of researching, designing and manufacturing products to automatically control the quality of the ambient atmosphere to improve productivity and quality of pig raising in practice at Bach Khoa Production, Trade and Service Joint Stock Company Bach Phuong (Address: Vinh Hao Commune, Vu Ban District, Nam Dinh Province, Vietnam).

Applications of IoT technology for climate change adaptation in the Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta, with an area of over 40,000 square kilometers, is the largest agricultural and fishery production center in Viet Nam. However, along with the Ganges River Delta and the Nile River Delta, the Mekong Delta is one of the three delta regions most severely impacted by climate change. In recent years, this region has faced drought, saltwater intrusion, environmental degradation, and land subsidence mainly caused by climate change. The Internet of Things (IoT) technology has been envisioned as a powerful tool for combating climate change. This paper presents some research projects that leverage the potential of IoT technology and applications to improve the effectiveness of rice cultivation and aquaculture; and support the development of riverbank landslide early warning systems for the region. Through these applications, IoT technology has provided practical answers to address climate change and save the environment.

On the impact of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) - mining sector perspectives

ABSTRACT The application of the Internet of Things (IoT) in industrial systems and other new technological advancements led to the development of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). IIoT can help overcome the shortcomings of the conventional monitoring and control system while enabling enterprises to create a unified monitoring system to automate operations, provide a safe working environment, enforce compliance effectively, and regulate environmental issues. Given the advantages that IoT brings to the forefront, it makes sense that so many mining companies have raised their investment following the implementation of IoT-enabled solutions in their organisations. To increase safety, productivity, and environmental sustainability in mining operations, this article examines the current state of information technology in the mineral industry with an emphasis on the implications and challenges brought on by the technological diversity of various systems and devices used in those activities. The study contributes valuable insights into the integration of IoT technologies in the mining industry, highlighting its potential to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The paper paves the way for future research and development efforts aimed at overcoming the challenges of adopting IIoT in mining operations by identifying gaps and proposing a comprehensive IoT architecture. The innovations of the study are encapsulated in its approach to detailing the application of IoT technologies in enhancing mining operations and the establishment of an overall IIoT architecture suitable for the general operations in the mining industry.

Application of IoT technology for enhancing the consumer willingness to return E-waste for achieving circular economy: A Lagrangian relaxation approach

Poor management of waste electronic and electrical equipment (e-waste) has resulted in serious challenges to the environment and, consequently, to living organisms. Increasing consumer willingness to return household e-waste is a practical solution for better e-waste management. In this paper, for the first time, a circular supply chain network is structured by applying internet of things (IoT) technology to increase consumer willingness to return household e-waste and to manage the network more effectively. For this purpose, we formulate a mixed-integer linear programming model whose objective is to minimize strategic costs (setup costs and IoT deployment costs) and operational costs (transportation costs, costs associated with IoT, and processing costs in centers), simultaneously. In addition, we developed a heuristic algorithm based on Lagrangian relaxation to solve the proposed MILP model. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by comparing its results with GAMS results using eight small-sized simulated problems. Furthermore, eight large-size problems are simulated and solved by the proposed algorithm. Finally, the data of an Iranian knowledge-based company is employed to validate the presented mathematical model and algorithm, and the sensitivity analysis process is used to examine the accuracy of the obtained results.

Exploration on human resource management and prediction model of data-driven information security in Internet of Things

The advent of the Internet of Things (IoT) has accelerated the pace of economic development across all sectors. However, it has also brought significant challenges to traditional human resource management, revealing an increasing number of problems and making it unable to meet the needs of contemporary enterprise management. The IoT has brought numerous conveniences to human society, but it has also led to security issues in communication networks. To ensure the security of these networks, it is necessary to integrate data-driven technologies to address this issue. In response to the current state of human resource management, this paper proposes the application of IoT technology in enterprise human resource management and combines it with radial basis function neural networks to construct a model for predicting enterprise human resource needs. The model was also experimentally analyzed. The results show that under this algorithm, the average prediction accuracy for the number of employees over five years is 90.2 %, and the average prediction accuracy for sales revenue is 93.9 %. These data indicate that the prediction accuracy of the model under this study's algorithm has significantly improved. This paper also conducted evaluation experiments on a wireless communication network security risk prediction model. The average prediction accuracy of four tests is 91.21 %, indicating that the model has high prediction accuracy. By introducing data-driven technology and IoT applications, this study provides new solutions for human resource management and communication network security, promoting technological innovation in the fields of traditional human resource management and information security management. The research not only improves the accuracy of the prediction models but also provides strong support for decision-making and risk management in related fields, demonstrating the great potential of big data and artificial intelligence technology in the future of enterprise management and security.

Investigating popular topics for the integration of the internet of things in physical education: A content analysis in higher education

Background Problems: Advanced technologies, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), have played an increasingly important role in the development of physical education in higher education. Research Objectives: This study aims to conduct a content analysis of the use of IoT technology in physical education in higher education. Methods: Scopus and Web of Science databases were used to collect and analyse data for this study, with a total of 178 articles obtained, consisting of 104 articles (Scopus) and 74 articles (Web of Science). The final data used for this study consisted of 20 articles, as it only targeted the top five topics related to the internet of things (IoT) in physical education after being analysed using ScientoPy. Findings and Results: The analysis identified five main topics related to the application of the internet of things in physical education in higher education, including cloud, artificial intelligence, deep learning, big data, and virtual reality. The implications of these findings for the development of physical education in higher education are discussed in this study, emphasizing the importance of IoT technology integration in creating a more adaptive and responsive learning environment. Conclusion: The contributions of this research include providing deeper insights into how IoT technologies can be applied in physical education in higher education, as well as highlighting the potential to improve the effectiveness of learning and teaching in this area. The conclusions of this study emphasises the importance of continuing to develop innovations in the application of IoT technology in physical education in higher education in order to achieve a more efficient and competitive learning environment.

Dual Frequency Energy Harvesting System Based on Planar Inverted F-shaped Antenna

<p>With the expansion of Internet of things (IoT) scale and the extension of its application fields, node energy acquisition has become one of the constraints on the development and application of IoT technology. Wireless energy acquisition is faced with the challenge of how to enhance power conversion efficiency under low input power in the broadband range. This study aimed to improve the capability of energy collection and transmission in wireless communication, an efficient dual-frequency energy harvesting system was proposed, moreover a novel dual-frequency planar inverted-f antenna (PIFA) and its energy conversion circuit for Radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting were designed by studying the characteristics of ambient RF energy and antenna. The developed antenna is designed and manufactured for GSM 900mhz or DCS 1.8 GHz to harvest the ambient energy provided by nearby devices. It is proved that the new dual-frequency antenna still has high efficiency when the input power is less than -20 dbm, and can maximize the receiving energy. The system works with an energy conversion and storage module to convert weak signals into required voltages, the simulation and test results show that the maximum conversion efficiency of the prototype is about 65% at 920MHZ and 1.8GHz at -20 dBm input power.</p> <p> </p>

A Cyber-Physical Testbed for IoT Microgrid Design and Validation

Microgrids are small power systems, often equipped with renewable energy sources, that are alternatives or supplementary to utility grids. Many studies have been conducted on the design and implementation of microgrids and their interconnects to utility grids, and investigations have been extended to the use of Internet of Things technology (IoT) to monitor and operate such power grids. However, the broad applications of the IoT technology itself also call for a green energy solution. This paper investigates how to power local IoT applications via an integration of a microgrid and the utility grid. Together, we call such a system an IoT microgrid. The goal of an IoT microgrid is to maintain the availability of IoT applications while saving energy costs, and this is achieved by sustaining IoT applications via local renewable energy from a microgrid and by mitigating the intermittent power supply using the utility grid. This paper characterizes the IoT microgrid and proposes a configurable cyber-physical testbed for its design and validation. The testbed incorporates the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) approach, where real-time simulation is integrated with physical elements for quick prototyping of those components in an IoT microgrid. The paper concludes with an example implementation of the proposed testbed, which demonstrates its use for validating both an IoT microgrid and the IoT application it sustains.

The application of the internet of things technology in the smart grid

The development of electric power and the energy industry is an important guarantee for national economic development. With the explosion of population and the development of science and technology, the power system needs to be more intelligent and networked to facilitate management and optimization. In recent years, the Internet of Things (IoT) technology has continued to develop through the combination of Internet technology and sensor technology, and the fast network transmission speed as well as the miniaturization and refinement of sensing can help the construction of the smart grid. This paper analyzes the application of IoT technology in the smart grid, including different types of smart grid architecture and the practical application of the IoT technology in the whole process of power transmission. Besides, the paper also discusses different application links and network levels. At present, the IoT technology has been applied to the smart grid information collection, transmission, and processing process, participating in information management in the power station, power transmission, substation, and other links. However, due to the complexity of processing the massive data of the power grid and the multiple network connections during the transmission process, ensuring the security of information and networks has become a challenge. While realizing high-speed communication, it is necessary to ensure the security of users as well as the information communication and networks.

Development of information systems in road transportation

Nowadays, we face many problems in the field of transport. The application of intelligent transport systems should improve problems related to congestion management, road safety, access to data in the transport environment, and environmental protection. The paper presents two concepts that are key to the improvement and development of the transport sector. The development and application of automatic vehicle location since the 1960s has led to an improvement in the efficiency of transport companies’ operations and the quality of their services. This technology has led to improved efficiency of the transport service, better utilisation of resources and improved quality of service. However, the most modern concept that initiates the improvement of existing solutions and encourages the development of new solutions in the field of transport is the IoT (Internet of Things) concept. In freight transport, the application of IoT technology enables cost management, reduction of CO2 emissions and avoidance of congestion through the use of alternative routes.

Construction and Application of a Quality Evaluation System for Group Elderly Care Services Based on the Internet of Things

With the continuous intensification of global aging, the issue of elderly care has become an increasingly prominent social problem. The Internet of Things (IoT) technology, as an emerging field, holds broad application prospects. This article focuses on the application of IoT technology in group elderly care services and constructs a quality evaluation system for these services based on IoT technology. Through the analysis of practical application cases, the advantages and challenges of IoT technology in group elderly care services have been examined, confirming the feasibility and effectiveness of the evaluation system.

IMANoBAS: An Improved Multi-Mode Alert Notification IoT-based Anti-Burglar Defense System

Burglary involves forced or unauthorized entry, which leads to damage or loss of property having monetary or emotional value and, more severely, puts lives at risk. The dire need for the safety of lives and properties has attracted so much research on burglary alert system using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Most of the research focused on alerting the users of burglary attempts using any or a combination of two notification methods: SMS, call, and email. This study emphasizes three-mode notification that combines SMS, call, and email using the application of IoT technology in a burglary alert system, which uses a Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor for burglar detection to ensure that Homeowners or authorized personnel get alerts in events of imminent attempt to break-ins. The study also details the sensor integration with its supporting components, such as the central hub or microcontroller, buzzer, LED, and network interface in the development of the system. The software was developed to facilitate seamless integration with the hardware, ensuring timely and accurate event detection and subsequent alert generation using Arduino IDE programming language, a framework based on the C++ language. The system effected the 3-mode notification to ensure that users get notification in case of an imminent break-in since the failure of the three modes simultaneously is extremely rare. The system’s performance based on its responsiveness on the 3-mode notifications was evaluated, and an average of 83.56% responsiveness was obtained, indicating an acceptable response time.

Security issues of the gold industry chain based on smart blockchain in the context of the Internet of Things

The purpose is to solve the safety production and management problems of the gold Industrial Chain and give early warning of the safety situation of the gold Industrial Chain. According to the theory of industrial chain security governance and the basic situation of the gold Industrial Chain, this work establishes a gold Industrial Chain model based on smart blockchain and system dynamics (SD), and discusses the application of the gold Industrial Chain in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment. The overall goal of the application of IoT technology to the safety management of intelligent gold mines is to take the gold mine production demand as the driving force. The digitalization of production, electromechanical, safety, dispatching, and other information realizes intelligent digital perception, assists decision-making, guides the safety management of gold mining operations, continuously improves the operation efficiency of the gold mining industry, and drives the development of the industry. Finally, it takes the resource reserve of China’s gold industry from 2011 to 2021 as the research data introduces the weighting method to assess the security situation of China’s gold Industrial Chain from 2011 to 2021. The safety performance of China's environmental industry chain is evaluated through the detailed introduction of the basic information of the gold Industrial Chain. The result shows that the security situation of China’s gold Industrial Chain from 2011 to 2021 shows an overall growth trend, 88.42% higher than in 2014. The security situation of China’s gold Industrial Chain from 2011 to 2021 positively impacted the opening of the domestic gold market and entering the international gold market, improving the security level of China’s gold Industrial Chain. In this work, a gold Industrial Chain security model based on smart blockchain and SD is established to solve the safety problem of the gold Industrial Chain, which can improve the safety level of the gold industry and promote its sustainable development.

Using IoT in Double Skin Facades toward Thermal Comfort: A Review

Integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) into building design and operation has ushered in a new era of sustainable architecture and enhanced occupant comfort. This paper presents comprehensive case studies focused on the application of IoT technology in the context of double-skin facades, explicitly focusing on achieving and optimizing thermal comfort. These case studies, located in an urban setting, represent a paradigm shift in architectural design principles. Double skin facades, renowned for their potential to enhance energy efficiency and occupant well-being, are further empowered through the intelligent deployment of IoT devices. This synergy between architectural innovation and digital technology is instrumental in addressing the pressing challenges of energy consumption and occupant comfort in urbanized areas. It delves into the sensors, actuators, and data analytics systems employed to monitor and control the indoor environment. Special attention is given to the dynamic adaptation of the facade system in response to real-time environmental conditions, occupancy patterns, and user preferences. One of the case studies—PH01-BRK, projects the practical application of these principles in South Dakota’s first custom passive and net-zero home, completed in 2016, using advanced thermal analysis tools, software for heating and cooling requirements, and solar data assessment. Furthermore, the paper investigates the impact of IoT-enabled double-skin facades on thermal comfort, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality within the Brookings Passive House. Quantitative data and occupant feedback are analyzed to assess the effectiveness of the IoT-driven system in maintaining optimal thermal conditions while minimizing energy consumption. The findings of this case study underscore the potential of IoT technology in revolutionizing the design and operation of sustainable buildings. It demonstrates that integrating IoT into double-skin facades can significantly enhance thermal comfort, reduce energy consumption, and create healthier indoor environments.

IoT based enabling home automation system for individuals with diverse disabilities

This paper addresses the challenges faced by individuals with impairments, focusing on their specific needs. Moreover, the insights from this study can be applied to individuals who have encountered accidents or various similar circumstances. The primary objective of this endeavor is to mitigate their discomfort. The project demonstrates the creation of an affordable machine control system utilizing IoT technology. This system incorporates functionalities such as speech control and hand gestures, making it beneficial for people with impairments. The Internet of Things (IoT) pertains to the interconnectedness of electronic devices, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity among machines, vehicles, structures, and other entities. This connectivity enables the gathering and sharing of data.The application of IoT technology in this undertaking facilitates wireless control of devices via internet connectivity. The project employs a Node MCU development board as the central computing module. Furthermore, the project envisions an interface that empowers users through voice commands and hand gestures, accessible through a dedicated app. The MIT Software Inventor employs an online speech-to-text infrastructure to enable speech control. The system listens for the user's vocal commands and recognizes hand angular positions. Upon detecting specific predefined phrases, corresponding actions are triggered to activate or deactivate the machines. The innovative aspect of this concept lies in its ability to empower differently-abled individuals to effortlessly control machines through voice commands and hand gestures. The proposed system extends its applications to the industrial sector, streamlining machinery management and enhancing personnel control. This app-based interface can be accessed from any global location, further enhancing its accessibility and usability.

Application of IoT technology on control system and monitoring for Cucumis Melo L. grown in greenhouse

In this paper, we propose developing a system for optimally watering Cucumis Melo L. crops based on an application Internet of Things (IoT). The three components are hardware, a web application, and a mobile application. The first component was designed and implemented in control box hardware connected to collect crop datas. Soil moisture sensors are used to monitor the greenhouse, connected to the control box. The second component is a web-based application that was designed and implemented to manipulate the crop data and field information. This component applied data mining to analyze the data for predicting suitable temperature, humidity, and soil moisture for optimal future management of crop growth. The final component is mainly used to control crop watering through a mobile application on a smartphone. This allows either automatic or manual control of the user. The automatic control uses data from soil moisture sensors for water. The results showed the implementation to be useful in agriculture. The moisture content of the soil was maintained appropriately for Cucumis Melo L. growth, reducing costs and increasing agricultural productivity. Moreover, this work represents improvements to agriculture through digital innovation.

Effective Risk Assessment and Management with IoT in Supply Chains

Supply chain risk management is a critical area in today’s globalized economy, and with the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, revolutionary changes are taking place in risk assessment and management methods. This paper aims to explore effective risk assessment and management with IoT in supply chains in China, emphasizing the crucial role of IoT technology in real-time data collection, predictive analytics, and traceability. We delve into the limitations of traditional risk assessment methods and how IoT enhances supply chain visibility and transparency. Furthermore, we speculate on the future applications of IoT technology in risk management, including autonomous vehicles, smart packaging, and supply chain simulations. This paper also focuses on the convergence of IoT with emerging technologies and the role of government and industry in shaping IoT adoption in supply chain risk management. Through this paper, we encourage organizations to harness IoT technology to enhance supply chain resilience and mitigate potential risks.

Recent Advancements in IoT Implementation for Environmental, Safety, and Production Monitoring in Underground Mines

Internet of Things (IoT) technology has been widely used for real-time monitoring of the environment, safety and production in underground mines. This paper presents the basic structure of a Mine Internet of Things (MIoT) system based on a widely used three-layer IoT architecture, classifies types of sensors commonly used in underground mines by specific application, and introduces available wired and wireless communication technologies and network topologies that can be applied in underground mines. This paper provides a comprehensive review of recent developments in IoT applications in underground mines to monitor various environmental parameters, including mine gas and dust concentrations, temperature, humidity and airflow, groundwater, ground support and seismic activity. MIoT applications for fire and hazard detection, personnel and equipment positioning, and production safety management have also been investigated. This paper highlights key challenges for the broad application of IoT technology in underground mines such as operation disruption, additional investment, limited battery life, poor quality of underground communication, and difficulty in data management. Further research on novel advanced techniques, such as self-powered sensors, MIoT standardization and underground wireless communication technologies, is essential to improve the applicability and effectiveness of IoT applications in underground mines.

Use of Emerging Internet of Things Technologies for Developing Infrastructure-to-Vehicle Communication Systems

Infrastructure-to-vehicle (I2V) communication is an essential part of an intelligent transportation system. Bluetooth low energy (BLE) is one of the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) technologies that can enable the exchange of data at low-energy consumption. This study evaluated the application of IoT technologies, in particular BLE beacons—I2V communication devices to support autonomous vehicle (AV) operation in a real-world setting. An AV development platform built on a Lexus RX450h car was used to perform the evaluation. The testing program included two controlled-environment experiments and two real-world validation experiments. The controlled-environment experiments were used to select the BLE beacon settings to be considered. The validation experiments were performed in two different settings: a city street and an interstate highway in the City of Cincinnati in Ohio. To this end, beacons were attached to 10 different traffic signs in a city street as well as to a side barrier of an interstate highway. The ability of the AV to detect the traffic signs and the beacons attached to the side barrier was evaluated at different speeds. The study revealed promising results and indicated that the BLE beacon technology could potentially be a reliable solution to develop I2V communication systems that can be easily deployed to modify existing transportation infrastructure.

Internet-of-Things-Based Multiple-Sensor Monitoring System for Soil Information Diagnosis Using a Smartphone.

The rise of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has moved the digital world in a new direction and is considered the third wave of the information industry. To meet the current growing demand for food, the agricultural industry should adopt updated technologies and smart agriculture based on the IoT which will strongly enable farmers to reduce waste and increase productivity. This research presents a novel system for the application of IoT technology in agricultural soil measurements, which consists of multiple sensors (temperature and moisture), a micro-processor, a microcomputer, a cloud platform, and a mobile phone application. The wireless sensors can collect and transmit soil information in real time with a high speed, while the mobile phone app uses the cloud platform as a monitoring center. A low power consumption is specified in the hardware and software, and a modular power supply and time-saving algorithm are adopted to improve the energy effectiveness of the nodes. Meanwhile, a novel soil information prediction strategy was explored based on the deep Q network (DQN) reinforcement learning algorithm. Following the weighted combination of a bidirectional long short-term memory, online sequential extreme learning machine, and parallel extreme machine learning, the DQN Bi-OS-P prediction model was obtained. The proposed data acquisition system achieved a long-term stable and reliable collection of time-series soil data with equal intervals and provided an accurate dataset for the precise diagnosis of soil information. The RMSE, MAE, and MAPE of the DQN Bi-OS-P were all reduced, and the R2 was improved by 0.1% when compared to other methods. This research successfully implemented the smart soil system and experimentally showed that the time error between the value displayed on the mobile phone app and its exact acquisition moment was no more than 3 s, proving that mobile applications can be effectively used for the real-time monitoring of soil quality and conditions in wireless multi-sensing based on the Internet of Things.
