An Investigation into the Anti-Ultraviolet Performance of Natural Tea Pigment

Wool fabric was treated with homemade natural tea pigment to endow anti-ultraviolet property. Research results showed that the anti-ultraviolet performance was improved significantly after treatment and the UPF value was increased with the increasing of the pigment dosage. Adding metal ions can improve anti-ultraviolet performance in varying degrees.

Design of Lotus-Leaf-Like Decoration Materials

Lotus leaf structures shows shelf-cleaning properties of water-repellent, it’s convenient to clean, especially the interior decoration materials. Polyester sea-island ultra-fine fiber was chosen as raw materials, the crepe weave was used as the organization structure, and finally through water-repellent nano-coating finishing to form a Lotus leaf-like surface, then the water repellency, the anti-fouling performance and the anti-ultraviolet performance of lotus-leaf-like materials was tested and analyzed. The conclusions drawn are as follows: the water repellency, the anti-fouling performance and the anti-ultraviolet performance of lotus-leaf-like decoration materials was excellent, the UV transmission of the materials was only 2%, which was far below the International standard and at the same time the results shows that the materials had good wrinkle resistance property, it can improve the structure stability.

Performance Research of Polyester Fabric Treated by Nano Titanium Dioxide (N ano-TiO2) Anti-ultraviolet Finishing

Nano-TiO2 sol and finishing agent was prepared by sol-gel method, during which tetrabutyl titanate was used as precursorand ethanol was used as solvent. The agent was penetrated into polyester fabric through a padding method, theanti-ultraviolet performance of the fabric was analyzed and the external morphology was carefully studied afterward. Theresults showed that indicated that the Nano-TiO2 particles distribute evenly with fine dispersity and stability and thefinished fabrics demonstrated exceptional anti-ultraviolet performance with a phenomenal UPF ascendance reaching upto 50+ without influencing the breaking strength.

Anti-ultraviolet Treatment for Cotton Fabrics by Dyeing and Finishing in one Bath and Two Steps

In this study, a new approach to a UV-blocking treatment for cotton fabrics was developed by dyeing and finishing in one bath and two steps. In this approach, nano-TiO2 was used as inorganic anti-ultraviolet agent, adhesives poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) PVP was used to improve the wet fastness. Ultraviolet Spectrometer was used for testing and analysis the anti-ultraviolet ability of the cotton fabric before and after the nano-TiO2 finishing. The effect of the anti-ultraviolet performance and wet fastness of cotton fabrics with different content of nano-TiO2 or adhesives were investigated. The results show that the nano-TiO2 UV finishing can effectively improve the UV blocking ability of cotton fabric. With the increase usage of nano-TiO2, the UV blocking ability of the treated cotton fabrics was increasing. Wet fastness was decreasing when there was no PVP adhesive while it was increasing when there was PVP adhesive and the ability of UV blocking was also increasing. But the content should be controlled in a moderate range; the ability of UV blocking would decrease if the content was exceeding the appropriate range. The electronic fabric strong-tensile machine was used for testing the tearing and breaking tenacity of the treated fabric and the computer-permeability tester was used for testing its air permeability. The results show that the treatment of nano-TiO2 in this approach for UV-blocking treatment had little effect on the wear ability of the cotton fabric.
