Sustainable Airport Development In Indonesia's Border Areas: Challenges and Future Prospects Case Study of Letung Airport, Regency Anambas Islands Riau Islands Province

The construction of airports in Indonesia's border areas has a strategic role in supporting connectivity and economic development in border areas. This study uses survey methods and interviews from several respondents in the district of Anambas Islands, Riau Islands Province. Several findings related to the challenges and prospects of airport development in the border area have a positive impact on the community on the border, especially in the Riau Islands Where this area is almost 96% consisting of interview data which shows that 90% feel the benefits and 10% provide input for the next development, making the essence of the airport in the border area very much needed. However, the question is still how sustainable the airport development is. Whether it is completed with the operation of an airport or is it still being developed to continue to provide benefits to the community as the main target.

Pengelolaan Permukiman Pesisir dan di Atas Air Berkelanjutan di Desa Teluk Sunting, Kabupaten Kepulauan Anambas Provinsi Kepulauan Riau

Coastal settlements are highly vulnerable because they are greatly affected by global climate change. Population growth will further increase the use of unorganized built space in the coastal area of Teluk Sunting Village which in the future could lead to conflict as a result of regulations and policies regarding coastal areas. This research was conducted in the coastal residential area of Teluk Sunting Village, Central Siantan District, Anambas Islands Regency. The research method consists of data collection techniques, sampling techniques, data requirements, data presentation, analysis methods and data analysis techniques. The results obtained are that the administrative area of Teluk Sunting Village contains cultivation and protected areas according to the RTRW Spatial Pattern Plan. The area is 5.29 Ha of mangrove ecosystem area and 34.83 Ha of protected forest area. Area of 19.22 Ha cultivation area. The environmental quality results obtained in RT 1 settlements are low quality settlements, RT 3 is medium quality settlements and RT 2 and RT 4 settlements are high quality settlements. The conclusions obtained from the four approaches taken to identify land use patterns, namely land use patterns, land use and use with land tenure, conformity with the RTRW and conformity with the zoning of Aquatic Tourism Parks, are in accordance with the designation. The involvement of stakeholders in the management of coastal and water areas in Teluk Sunting Village is very appropriate to support and ensure the sustainability of the area in the future.

Ecoregional Site Study on Small Islands: A case study of the significance of flora for fisheries in the Anambas Islands

The formation of the Anambas Islands was a form of earth's surface dynamics that occurred over millions of years. In the process, there were at least eight land formations on the Sunda shelf. This evolution of the earth's surface led to the emergence of large islands on the Sunda shelf along with small islands around them. This also makes the Sundanese shelf part of the volcano's volcanic route. The Bunguran Formation was a bedrock complex that is thought to originate from deep-sea sediments of the Jurassic-Cretaceous age. The rocks are quite old, indicating that this formation was exposed to the surface and formed islands in the arc of the Anambas Islands group. All of these natural processes create a unique type of ecosystem, namely a rocky beach ecosystem, where the rocks at the study location were large rocks with cliffs on some of the coastlines. Meanwhile, sloping and protected locations allow the dust substrate to mix with sand to create a thin mud that allows mangrove forests to grow. Development in Anambas was carried out to grow the economy in this region. The Regional Government consistently develops in various fields. Some that stand out are the fisheries, tourism, and oil and gas sectors. It was believed that forests play a role in maintaining fisheries stocks on the coast, especially mangrove forests. Because of this, there was a need for a study that could display the flora profile in the Anambas Islands ecoregion. The results of the study show 23 species of flora in coastal forests and seven species of mangroves.

Review Of The Maritime Tourism Development Model In The Anambas Islands Through A Digital Approach

This research aims to build an understanding of the currently developing academic literature on marine tourism in the Anambas Islands as one of the potential areas. Maritime tourism can be developed from a digital and institutional development policy perspective, considering that the impact of tourism through maritime tourism is so broad/multiplier effect, including trade connectivity and communication between nations, so that it becomes one way to maintain maritime affairs. This study used a qualitative method. Data sources are obtained from primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques involved observation, interviews, documentation, FGD, and triangulation, while N-Vivo12 Plus assisted data analysis techniques. The research results showed that the Anambas Regency Government has not fully implemented digital-based development. There have been no regulations governing the development of digital-based marine tourism, both in strategic plans and SOPs in regulations that do not specifically address development. Second, digital media in developing marine tourism is not optimal; there is a lack of social media platforms to raise and attract public attention. The branding carried out is only limited to providing information about tourist attractions, displaying attractive photos, and at least creating marketing campaigns such as events held on the Anambas Islands, and minimally discussing access to the Anambas Islands so that tourists feel that the distance is far away and are reluctant to visit them. Overall, digital-based development is limited to uploading on social media, even though the understanding of digital-based development is broader and far from just sharing on social media. The government should have the ability to innovate and adapt in the face of various changes, such as preparing development plans based on various information on transportation access telecommunications, which can provide complete information to potential visitors so that they can have a variety of experiences.

BAWAH RESERVE: EXPLORING THE POSSIBILITIES OF SUSTAINABLE LUXURY TOURISM ON ANAMBAS ISLAND

This article publication aims to examine the Bawah Reserve’s efforts towards sustainability, a luxury resort located on remote and marine conservation area Anambas Island, Indonesia. Its appeal is based on luxury, but it also offers insights into the small island’s nature and community development. By analyzing the content based on the grounded theory approach, this study sheds light on the opportunities that arise when striving for both opulence and environmental responsibility in the context of tourism. The paper attempts to address how eco-luxury is projected by management and perceived by customers and community. A qualitative study was adopted, and the findings identify four themes: Sustainable Management, Sustainable Socioeconomic Benefits, Cultural Heritage and Reduced Cultural Impacts, and Environmental Protection and Conservation. The findings of sustainable tourism practices in Bawah Reserve, such as tourism packages based on natural conservation and community empowerment as well as eco-friendly infrastructure and operations add to the literature review and case studies in the field of sustainable luxury tourism, the majority of which focus on Bali or Maldives. This study offers insights for achieving a harmonious balance between luxury tourism and sustainability on a remote island within the Indonesian context.

Public and Tourist Perceptions of Marine Tourism Development of Anambas Islands Regency

The Anambas Islands Regency, situated within the Riau Islands province with its center in Tarempa, boasts a captivating array of marine tourism attractions, including pristine white sandy beaches, crystalline waters, and breathtaking natural scenery. Beyond surface beauty, the underwater marine ecosystem harbours significant potential for development. Notable sites include Penjalin Island, strategically positioned and directly accessible from Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam; Pulau Bawah, renowned for its three stunning lagoons and rich mangrove exploration; Durai Island, home to unique habitats including leatherback turtle nesting grounds; the picturesque Green Rafting Beach with its enchanting coral landscapes; Temawan Island, offering both beachfront leisure and diverse underwater ecosystems; and Tanjung Momong, boasting captivating coral reefs. This study investigates public and tourist perceptions regarding the development of these marine attractions in the Anambas Islands. Utilizing quantitative methods, data was collected via questionnaires from 250 respondents selected using the Slovin formula. Descriptive analysis employing SEM-AMOS revealed that perceptions of marine tourism development positively impact regional income, economy, and community welfare. This research underscores the significance of leveraging Anambas' marine resources for sustainable economic growth and societal well-being.

Socio-Economic Conditions of the Fisher Community in Sri Tanjung Village, Siantan District, Anambas Islands Regency

This research was conducted in Sri Tanjung Village, Siantan District, Anambas Islands Regency. This research aims to determine the socio-economic conditions of fishing communities as seen from social conditions consisting of fishermen's education level and living conditions as well as economic conditions consisting of income and ownership of fishing gear. This research uses quantitative methods with descriptive analysis with a sample of 58 respondents. This research uses a simple random sampling technique and data collection is carried out through observation, structured interviews using questionnaires, and documentation. The research results obtained are that on the social aspect, the educational level of Sri Tanjung fishermen is still relatively low because they have only completed junior high school level, then in terms of living conditions, the majority of Sri Tanjung fishermen have their own semi-permanent houses. Meanwhile, in the economic aspect, the income earned by Sri Tanjung fishermen is classified as low, namely below the average income or UMK of Anambas, then for fishing equipment ownership status, Sri Tanjung fishermen use a fleet of boats (pompong) measuring 1 - 5 GT with fishing gear facilities. which is complete with 3 types of fishing equipment (pull fishing rod, trolling rod, and longline) and is equipped with modern technology (GPS, Fish Finder, radio, and solar panels).

Analisis Pengaruh Gaya Kepemimpinan Terhadap Kinerja Staf Pelayanan Medis Dan Paramedis Di RSUD Tarempa Kepulauan Anambas Riau

There are many factors that influence employee or employee performance at work. that performance is basically influenced by many factors, one of which is work motivation in carrying out tasks. One of the factors that can influence employee performance is work motivation, incentives (compensation), and leadership. The aim of this research is to determine and analyze the influence of leadership style on the performance of medical and non-medical service staff at Tarempa Hospital, Anambas Islands, Riau in 2024. This type of research uses a descriptive analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. The population in this study was all the medical and non-medical service installation staff at Tarempa Regional Hospital, Anambas Islands, Riau, totaling 78 people. While the sample numbered 78 people, this population sampling was carried out with the total population. Data analysis was carried out using univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis. Based on the results of the chi-square test, it is known that the performance of medical and non-medical service staff has an influence on Militaristic Leadership Style, Paternalistic Leadership Style, Laissirez Fair Leadership Style and Democratic Leadership Style p = 0.000, meaning that there is an influence of Militaristic Leadership Style, Paternalistic Leadership Style, Leadership Style Laissirez Fair and Democratic Leadership Style. on the performance of medical and non-medical service staff. From the results of the multivariate analysis, it is known that the most influential variable in this study is the Democratic Leadership Style variable with an odds ratio (OR) value of 62,850 which predominantly influences medical and non-medical service staff. The conclusion in this research is that the appropriate leadership style applied by medical and non-medical services is a democratic leadership style. This is because based on research results, democratic leadership style is the most dominant influence on the performance of medical and non-medical service staff. It is recommended that medical and non-medical service staff strive to improve the performance of medical and non-medical services through reading and discussion activities and discipline when entering work.
 

Examining the effectiveness of bored pile coral for coral rehabilitation

Abstract. Putri NP, Muharam MR, Ritonga A, Ruswanti CD, Arthen D, Munasik. 2024. Examining the effectiveness of bored pile coral for coral rehabilitation. Biodiversitas 25: 153-161. Semut Island is located in Kiabu Village, Anambas Islands, Riau, Indonesia, and has suffered significant damage to its coral cover due to blast fishing. To address this issue, Anambas Foundation initiated a coral reef rehabilitation on Semut Island using a customized artificial reef called Bored Pile Coral (BPC), a cylindrical structure made of concrete hammered into the seabed. This research aims to examine the effectiveness of BPC by monitoring its performance. Therefore, from February 2022 to January 2023, 1,500 BPCs were deployed and attached with corals covering an area of 170 m2. We quantified five ecological indicators, i.e., coral cover, survival rate, recruitment, growth rates, and fish biomass. Results showed an increase in coral cover from 3.8% to 8%. The survival rate was 64%, and the mean monthly growth rates varied among three genera: Pocillopora sp. (0.235±0.02 month-1), Acropora sp. (0.22±0.03 month-1) and Porites sp. (0.08±0.02 month-1). The monthly mean fish biomass data showed the biomass was 427,25 Kg/Ha and increased 3,9 times since the beginning of the research. BPC's structure has been proven to act as stable media for hard corals, although the modification may be necessary to enhance structural complexity and suitability for carnivorous fish habitats.

Supported by a strategic location, being on the path of New Regional development, becoming an international shipping lane and directly adjacent to the State of Singapore. This study aims to look at the policy of developing digital-based marine tourism in the Anambas Islands. This study uses a qualitative method. Source of data obtained from primary data, secondary data. Observation data collection techniques, interviews, documentation, FGD. Triangulation data analysis technique assisted by N-Vivo12Pluss Tools. Maritimetourism development policy is seen from three aspects, namely the policy of compiling E-Tourism prototypes, developing tourist attractions, developing promotion/marketing of marine tourism. The results of the Anambas Islands Regency government have not been optimal in developing digital-based marine tourism. Even though the government already has a National Tourism Development Master Plan (RIPPARNAS) for 2010-2025, which is directed at the development of maritime tourism, there are no specific steps or tourism development policies that carry a digital approach. Based on the theory used, it is known that tourists' needs for accessibility where information access facilities must be easily achieved and technology supporting facilities such as telecommunications and internet access which are added so as to satisfy tourists using technology and smartphones when traveling in Anambas have not been fully realized. So that the role of digital in the marine tourism of the Anambas Islands has not fully provided a positive influence while digitalization should add excellence to the tourist experience.

KARAKTERISTIK PENGUNJUNG OBJEK WISATA PIUGUS RESORT DESA BELIBAK DI KEPULAUAN ANAMBAS RIAU

Belibak is a village in Palmatak District, Anambas Islands Regency, Riau Islands Province. Belibak was designated as a "new tourism" village by Mr. Abdul Haris, the regent of Anambas Regency in 2015. Among those small islands, Anambas has five big separate lands that could be new tourism potential, namely Belibak, Piugus, Pidik, Mantang Besar and Mantang Kecil. Piugus Resort in Belibak village is known for its calm and quiet beach which attracts tourists to come to visit. In this research the author analyzes the characteristics of visitors to the Piugus Resort tourist attraction in Belibak village. The atmosphere of Piugus Resort, which is not as busy as other tourist attractions, encourage this research to be carried out. This research aims to determine the characteristics of visitors based on the characteristics of travel patterns. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method and data was collected using a direct interview method with the management of Piugus Resort. The results of this research show that tourists visiting Piugus Resort have varying characteristics. In terms of destination, tourists who come to visit Piugus Resort have the aim of vacationing and resting. Visitors who come to Piugus Resort are mostly foreign tourists. The travel to get to Piugus Resort is five minutes by speedboat from Belibak village or 15 minutes by sea-motorbike. In term of length of stay at Piugus Resort is more than 24 hours to a month's stay. Most tourists who come to visit Piugus Resort to stay overnight, travel and spend holidays together, especially with colleagues or with family.

Symbolic Study- Representation in Nyongsong Dance

Nyongsong dance tells of the activities of clove harvesting farmers in the Anambas Islands. Harvesting cloves includes climbing, picking, crushing, and drying cloves. This research is qualitative. The data collection technique was carried out by researchers through participatory observation, and the data analysis stage used qualitative descriptive methods. The presentation of the Nyongsong dance consists of three rounds, act 1 presents the farmers climbing and picking cloves symbolized by up and down movements exploring the clove tree setprop, act 2 presents the activity of crushing cloves symbolized by female dancers exploring the movement of ukel and exploring the properties of the jute sack by male dancers, and in act 3, the activity of farmers drying cloves is presented, symbolized by seven dancers exploring brown cloth together. This Nyongsong dance used corrective makeup with brown and green clothes. The props used in this dance are inspired by the tools farmers use when harvesting cloves, such as bags, winnowing, and burlap sacks. Danced by seven dancers, including two male dancers and five female dancers. The accompanying music is created life using Malay musical instruments such as selondang, serunai, violin, mong, gong, bebano, darbuka, flute, multiped percussion, and sequencer. This research aims to examine the Nyongsong dance from the perspective of representational symbols as enriching knowledge about the study of choreography through symbols and representations.

Seagrass Meadow Distribution Mapping in the Coastal Lagoon of Buan Island, Anambas

Seagrasses are vital monocotyledonous marine flowering plants that serve as essential food sources for megaherbivores, contribute significantly to organic carbon production, and offer a multitude of crucial ecosystem services. Preserving seagrass habitats is of utmost importance, but the lack of comprehensive spatial data poses challenges to conservation efforts. The Anambas Islands, consisting of 255 small islands in the Natuna Sea, the southern part of the South China Sea, exemplify the scarcity of seagrass data, with the current distribution map only covering the Central and East Siantan region. In this study, our aim was to map the Buan coastal lagoon, where previous visual interpretation of Google Earth imagery suggested the presence of seagrasses. To achieve this, we carried out a drone survey and collected field data to classify and map the substrate types in the study area. The field survey documented four species in the location: T. hemprichii, E. acoroides, H. ovalis and S. isoetifolium, thereby expanding the known seagrass species in Anambas to nine. By employing a pixel-based classification of orthophotos, we achieved a promising overall accuracy of 69.5%. Our findings demonstrated that imageries from the Google Earth platform are viable alternatives for identifying seagrass meadows and can be utilized to support seagrass mapping efforts. This discovery offers valuable support for future seagrass mapping initiatives, especially at a local scale. Ultimately, our study contributes to the broader understanding of seagrass distribution in the Anambas Islands, and emphasizes the importance of further exploration to support conservation efforts in the seagrass ecosystem.

Typology Mapping of Small Border Islands in the Context of Optimizing the Role as a Center for Regional Growth and Environmental Supporting Capacity in Anambas Islands Regency

As an autonomous region consisting of a cluster of small islands in the northern border area of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, Anambas Islands Regency has a remote geographical location, inadequate transportation conditions, and limitations in providing infrastructure, especially basic service infrastructure. The implication of the role as an autonomous region, raises the existence of growth centers on a district scale and other scale growth centers along with economic activities in them on several existing small islands. The role as a growth center on small islands requires the continued provision of sufficient production and distribution resources to meet population consumption growth. The sustainability of the carrying capacity of the environment on the one hand is faced with the role and function of small border islands as regional growth centers that have the potential to develop in the future on the other hand. Based on these problems, it is necessary to map the typology of small islands in order to optimize the role as a center for regional growth and environmental carrying capacity in Anambas Islands Regency. By mapping the typology of small border islands, policy directions for sustainable regional development can be determined for each small border island.

Overview Terhadap Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Implementasi Pengembangan Pariwisata Di Kepulauan Anambas

This research aims to analyze the factors that influence the implementation of tourism development in the Anambas Islands to increase the number of tourist visits. The research method is descriptive qualitative, primary data sources are interviews and observations. Secondary resources are reviews of relevant literature and documentation from the Anambas Cultural Tourism Office. The data analysis technique is Triangulation. Factors influencing implementation can be seen from the theory developed by Van Metter and Van Horn, namely policy standards and targets, resources, communication, characteristics of implementing agents, and social, political, and economic conditions. The regulations governing Anambas Islands tourism are included in the National Tourism Destination (DPN) development plan through the 2010-2025 National Tourism Development Master Plan (RIPPARNAS), which is directed at tourism development which is difficult to achieve policy program targets, this is because in the regulations There are no Standard Operating Procedures available in tourism development itself, so that SOPs in regulations become one of the influential obstacles. Then, synergy between the government and the community is needed in implementing the tourism development of the Anambas Islands.

Impact Analysis of Oil and Gas Companies' CSR Programs for Mitigation and Adaptation of Climate Change Impact

In the 6th assessment report published by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), it is stated that the impact of climate change will be felt on the settlements and infrastructure of people living in coastal areas. The magnitude of this potential impact has encouraged the Anambas Islands Regional Government to include this impact in the Anambas Islands District Medium Term Development Plan for 2021-2026. Of course, synergy is needed in handling these impacts by involving all stakeholders, including oil and gas companies operating in this area. This study aims to determine the impact of climate change and the forms of community adaptation, as well as community perceptions of the contribution of oil and gas companies through the CSR change program in order to help mitigate climate impacts and also increase the adaptability of the community. Data was collected from all stakeholders as well as beneficiaries of the company's CSR program, by conducting in-depth interviews, observations, and also using a questionnaire. For the general public, climate change has begun to be felt with extreme weather conditions that often cause disasters, as well as decreased catches of fishermen in coastal areas. In fact, in certain seasons it will affect the smooth transportation of sea people, so that it can affect people's daily activities. Regarding the CSR program that has been carried out by oil and gas companies, the community considers this program very important for them, but further efforts still need to be made in order to meet their expectations, including increasing income.

Analysis of The Leadership Empowerment Principles of The Principal of SMPN 2 Piabung Anambas Islands District

Empowering school principals' leadership toward teachers is an indicator of behavior in improving the quality of education. This is the school principal's responsibility to foster and mobilize teaching human resources to improve the professionalism of their performance, including at SMPN 2 Piabung. This research aims to analyze the implementation of empowering school principals in developing professional teachers at SMPN 2 Piabung. The method in this study uses mixed methods research. Qualitative methods complement the use of quantitative methods. Data was collected through a questionnaire and participant observation. Statistical data analysis in the form of min, frequency, and mean for data presentation. Questionnaire data were analyzed using Software SPSS version 25.0, while qualitative data were analyzed by explanation. The results of the study show: (1) empowerment in the form of encouraging teachers to make effective use of school infrastructure, delegating tasks proportionally (task division), forming coordinators for academic development and extracurricular activities, and supervising the running of school programs and requesting reports on program implementation very high rating; (2) empowerment in the form of involving teachers in planning school programs, inviting teachers to develop knowledge, skills, and experience through training programs, carrying out responsibilities transparently and reporting every decision to get maximum results, and giving rewards (praise, encouragement, and feedback to the teacher) is at the moderate rating level.

AKUNTABILITAS PENGELOLAAN ALOKASI DANA DESA DI DESA BATU BELAH KECAMATAN SIANTAN TIMUR KABUPATEN KEPULAUAN ANAMBAS

Village fund allocations in Batu Belah Village, East Siantan District, Anambas Islands Regency, especially in 2021 including planning, implementation, reporting and accountability indicators. In this study, the authors used qualitative research. The results of this study showed that the village government has implemented transparency and accountability, this can be seen from the three indicators of planning, implementation, reporting and accountability of Village Fund management. It's just that, there are several obstacles related to implementation in the field of development, one of the obstacles encountered is uncertain weather, delays in raw materials sent from outside the village and constraints on administering village officials, butnot fatally interfering with the performance of the Batu Belah village government, Siantan District East Anambas Islands Regency
