Forty years of research trends in long-acting injectable antipsychotics: A bibliometric analysis.

Using long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics is crucial for treating psychiatric illnesses, particularly those within the schizophrenia spectrum. Through bibliometric analysis, our study aimed to provide an understanding of the changes in research trends related to LAIs over the past 40years. We collected the publications from 1983 to 2023 related to research studies on LAIs included in the Web of Science database. Two thousand four hundred and twelve publications were selected based on specific criteria and analyzed using the VOSviewer software and the Biblioshiny app. We obtained and presented data on institutional analysis, country analysis, author and co-authorship analysis, journal analysis, funding agencies, and keyword citation numbers. From the period 1983-1992 to 2014-2023, the number of total publications showed a significant growth of 4.91. The majority (approximately 90%) of publications were produced in high-income countries. The private sector may play a significant role in research. The most crucial keywords were schizophrenia and risperidone. The trend in LAI research is currently dynamic and ongoing. There seems to be an increasing connection between studies and LAIs that contain second-generation antipsychotics. The number of studies relating to the private sector is noteworthy.

Social smart city research: interconnections between participatory governance, data privacy, artificial intelligence and ethical sustainable development

Social aspects constitute both concerns and opportunities in smart city development, as evidenced by a rapidly increasing body of research. This article presents the first-ever review of all the existing research on social focus in smart cities, delineating the distribution of topics, knowledge bases, and research frontiers that constitute the existing body of knowledge. A bibliometric review was performed to pinpoint publication trends, influential authors, their institutions, and prevalent subject areas within the literature since 2000. Using the Web of Science database, an amalgamation of major indexes (SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI, AHCI, ESCI) were applied to consider the research pattern and citation impact in different disciplines. 1,030 selected articles were subjected to bibliometric mapping using VOSviewer. The results show an almost exponential growth in the number of publications from 2015 onwards. Four interconnected thematic clusters cropped up: (1) participatory governance, (2) data privacy and security, (3) artificial intelligence and social media, and (4) ethics and sustainable development. A deeper analysis of key terms used in recent research revealed the following hot topics: (1) governance and citizen participation, (2) artificial intelligence technologies such as machine learning, (3) blockchain, and (4) Internet of Things. Co-authorship and geographical analyses underpin a solid international collaboration for leading institutions. The results underscore the rising significance of social smart city research by emphasizing the interconnectedness of governance, technology, citizen engagement, and ethics for a comprehensive approach to smart city initiatives. Furthermore, they recommend integrating social equity into these frameworks and enhancing geographic studies through greater international collaboration.

Relationship between periodontitis and systemic diseases: Abibliometric and visual study.

To provide a comprehensive and updated mapping of observational studies assessing the relationship between periodontitis and systemic diseases through a bibliometric and visual analysis. A search was conducted using the Web of Science database, covering the period 1989 to 2024. The Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) from the US National Library of Medicine was used to categorize systemic conditions, focusing on terms unrelated to stomatognathic diseases. The analysis included keyword co-occurrence mapping, co-authorship, bibliographic coupling, and co-citation analysis. Quality indicators such as silhouette score, modularity, and centrality were considered to assess the network's quality. The research strategy identified 6106 records, of which 1519 met the inclusion criteria. The analysis revealed that 46.73% of the literature on the topic was published in the last 5 years and that the annual publication trend peaked in 2023. Nutritional & Metabolic Diseases (n = 398), Cardiovascular Diseases (n = 335), Female Urogenital Diseases & Pregnancy Complications (n = 244), and Musculoskeletal Diseases (n = 182) were the most representative categories of systemic diseases associated with periodontitis. The most co-cited journals on the topic were the Journal of Periodontology (n = 1412), the Journal of Clinical Periodontology (n = 1343), the Journal of Dental Research (n = 940), and Periodontology 2000 (n = 849). The USA, China, Brazil, and Sweden were the countries that contributed the most to the number of publications. The analysis conducted in the present study revealed a growing trend of observational studies evaluating the association between periodontitis and systemic diseases, highlighting the negative impact of periodontitis on a plethora of systemic conditions and a rising translational interest in this relationship. With an aging population, periodontitis is expected to affect a growing number of people in the coming decades, presenting significant challenges to public health. Improved knowledge is, therefore, essential to enable more comprehensive care, preventive strategies, and optimal oral health for patients with periodontitis.

Global research trends in the application of artificial intelligence in oncology care: a bibliometric study.

To use bibliometric methods to analyze the prospects and development trends of artificial intelligence(AI) in oncology nursing from 1994 to 2024, providing guidance and reference for oncology nursing professionals and researchers. The core set of the Web of Science database was searched for articles from 1994 to 2024. The R package "Bibliometrix" was used to analyze the main bibliometric features, creating a three-domain chart to display relationships among institutions, countries, and keywords. VOSviewer facilitated co-authorship analysis and its visualization was used for co- occurrence analysis. CiteSpace calculated citation bursts and keyword occurrences. A total of 517 articles were retrieved, representing 80 countries/regions. The United States had the highest number of publications, with 188 articles (36.4%), followed by China with 79 articles (15.3%). The top 10 institutions in terms of publication output were all U.S.-based universities or cancer research institutes, with Harvard University ranking first. Prominent research teams, such as those led by Repici, Aerts, and Almangush, have made significant contributions to studies on AI in tumor risk factor identification and symptom management. In recent years, the keywords with the highest burst strength were "model" and "human papillomavirus." The most studied tumor type was breast cancer. While Cancers published the highest number of articles, journals such as CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians and PLOS ONE had higher impact and citation rates. By analyzing the volume of AI literature in oncology nursing, combined with the statistical analysis of institutions, core authors, journals, and keywords, the research hotspots and trends in the application of AI in oncology nursing over the past 30 years are revealed. AI in oncology nursing is entering a stage of rapid development, providing valuable reference for scholars and professionals in the field.

A bibliometric analysis of 30years of research on transarterial radioembolization (TARE) for hepatocellular carcinoma.

Patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have very limited treatment options, among which transarterial radioembolization (TARE) receives increasing attention, relying on its promising efficacy and fewer side effect. However, a bibliometric analysis of TARE for HCC is still lacking. This study employed bibliometric methods to analyze the related articles over the past three decades, and aimed to identify trends in clinical research comparing TARE to other treatments. Articles related with TARE for HCC were obtained from the Web of Science (WoS). After screening, the R package Bibliometrix was employed to explore the primary bibliometric characteristics. The number of publications was analyzed and mathematically fitted to a curve using Microsoft Excel 2021 and SPSS 25, and then was plotted in the graph using GraphPad Prism 8.0. VOSviewer, SCImago Graphica, and Pajek were utilized for the analysis of researchers' co-authorship, co-occurrence, and visualization. Keywords citation burst was detected by CiteSpace software. A total of 1,110 articles from 1993 to 2023 were included in our final analysis, among which the United States not only ranked the first in term of the number of published articles, also was at the forefront in other important indicators, including the total number of article citations and the average citation frequency. Riad Salem from Northwestern University, also being the organization with the greatest number of research papers, was the most active author and has published 96 papers. The keywords were classified into three clusters: 90Y microspheres for TARE, Basic research on TARE, and Clinical trial of TARE for HCC. Furthermore, we identified the most frequently cited keywords with strong citation bursts since 2020 were "multicenter," "overall survival" and "PET/CT." Our study employed a bibliometric approach to achieve the visualization research on TARE for HCC, and further revealed the trends and frontiers of TARE research, providing valuable information for researchers to identify the critical and persistent challenges and select potential partners in related area. Based on our analysis, future research focus include the clinical comparative studies on the effect of TARE and TACE combined with immunotherapies or targeted therapy, dosimetry, and personalized TARE therapy for HCC.

Research Trends and Hotspots on Family Caregivers of Individuals With Autism Spectrum Disorder From 2002 to 2022: A Bibliometric Analysis.

Family caregivers of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (FC-ASD) have been reported to experience high levels of physical and psychological distress. This bibliometric study aimed to analyze the research trends, collaboration and knowledge dissemination pertaining to FC-ASD over the past 20 years. This study provided an analysis of documents indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), published from January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2022. VOSviewer and R Package "bibliometrix" were used to conduct performance analysis, coauthorship analysis and keyword co-occurrence analysis. A total of 9522 articles were included in this study. The number of annual publications has increased sharply. The United States of America demonstrated the highest scientific productivity, and Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders published the most papers on this topic. Clusters of research hotspots suggested five primary areas received considerable attention, including caregivers' burden and psychiatric problems, needs and experiences, skills training and intervention, reports of ASD symptoms, comorbidities and prevalence, as well as specific populations and periods of FC-ASD. Over the past two decades, there has been a progressive increase in the number of publications in the field of FC-ASD. There is a need for further research focused on multidisciplinary, family-centered and telehealth-based interventions, as well as qualitative studies aimed at exploring the experiences of FC-ASD.

The evolution of precision agriculture and food safety: a bibliometric study

IntroductionFood safety issues pose a significant threat to humanity. Precision agriculture leverages advanced technologies for real-time monitoring and management, improving agricultural productivity and sustainability while safeguarding food security. Nonetheless, acquiring a thorough comprehension of this continually shifting panorama remains of vital significance.MethodsThis study conducts a comprehensive bibliometric review of precision agriculture and food safety, utilizing quantitative methods to identify past, current, and future evolution. It includes citation, co-authorship, co-citation, and co-words analyses.ResultsPublications emerged in 1994 and began to rise significantly since 2019. Citation analysis verified influencing works and journals, whereas co-authorship analysis identified how authors, institutions, and countries collaborate in this field. Co-citation analysis then classified past and current hotspots into four clusters: remote vegetation monitoring techniques, technological innovations and agricultural decision-making, precision agriculture and sustainable development, and deep learning in agriculture. After that, the co-occurrence of keywords revealed emerging trends, such as precision cultivation and yield prediction, smart agricultural technology and food management, precision information for climate change adaptation, and precision agriculture and food security.DiscussionThe findings provide insights for scholars, policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and industry stakeholders. They guide future research directions and address pressing challenges in agriculture and food safety.

Globalisation of Higher Education: A Bibliometric Analysis and Future Research Directions

This research aims to analyse the publication structure of academic research on globalisation of higher education. Data on globalisation of higher education was extracted from Scopus database between 2000 and 2022, and a total of 232 documents analysed data through RStudio and VOSviewer software. The research findings revealed the top producing nations, institutions, authors, journals, country scientific production, three-field plot, most relevant sources and co-authorship analysis and citation analysis. The study’s primary contribution is offering an overview of globalisation trends in higher education, which can aid researchers and practitioners in understanding current patterns and identifying future research directions.

Comprehensive Bibliometric Review on the Sustainability and Environmental Impact of Fiber-Reinforced Polymers

Fiber-reinforced polymers (FRPs) are increasingly recognized in sustainable materials research due to their potential environmental advantages. This study presents a focused bibliometric review of the sustainability research on FRPs. An initial search of the Web of Science (WOS) database identified 803 documents, which were refined to 749 relevant articles, reviews, and proceedings. A co-authorship analysis highlights the significant contributions of the USA and India, with European countries forming regional collaborations. The research output has steadily increased since 2011, peaking in 2022 and 2023. The multidisciplinary nature of the research spans materials science, engineering, and environmental sciences, with journals such as *Polymers*, *Sustainability*, and the *Journal of Cleaner Production* emphasizing sustainability themes. This analysis covers key aspects such as keyword co-occurrence, overlay visualizations, co-authorship networks, and the distribution of publications by year, research area, and journal. The findings underscore the evolving research landscape of sustainable FRPs and highlight the ongoing need for life cycle assessments and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Technological Innovations and Renewable Integration in Smart Cities: Enhancing Sustainability, Governance, And Security

The research focuses on the multiple ways in which technological innovation in the management, governance, and security of renewable energies contributes to making smart cities capable of integrating renewable energy systems that lead to more sustainable, efficient governance, and security resilience for the cities. A literature review of Scopus has been done with the aim of asserting at the juncture of smart cities, technological innovation, and renewable energy integration. Co-occurring and co-authorship analyses have been performed by VOSviewer for mapping the key research themes, collaborative networks, and research gaps. Core research themes include smart cities, IoT, renewable sources of energy, urban planning, AI, big data - lots of them, actually. Key areas for concern comprise cybersecurity, social equity, human-centered design, and adaptation to climate change. International collaborations identified through co-authorship analysis mirrored strong contributions from Pandolfi Alessandra and Galiulo Valentina. There are major knowledge gaps with respect to addressing, for example, how combining the elements of energy efficiency and cybersecurity under one umbrella could be defined as a smart city. Contribute uniquely in this area, and analyze the effects that the aggregate technological innovations and integration of renewable energy have on enhancing urban sustainability, governance, and security. These advances indicate ways in which urban systems can be optimized in order to enhance quality of life and lend to more sustainable and resilient urban environments. This study synthesizes interdisciplinary research in a novel manner in pointing out new areas that smart city development has barely touched upon.

Exploring the Research Landscape of Business Applications of Robotic Process Automation Through Bibliometric Analysis

The field of business process optimization and automation has seen the emergence of robotic process automation (RPA) as a disruptive technology. This research aims to give a systematic bibliometric analysis of the research ecosystem of robotic process automation in business to identify trends, patterns, and developments in this quickly developing area. Bibliometric methodologies, such as co-authorship analysis, keyword analysis, citation patterns, and publishing trends are performed in this work. Research papers from Scopus scientific databases are incorporated into the analysis through the identification of key writers, organizations, and nations that have made a substantial contribution to the growth of RPA literature. The report also explores the temporal evolution of RPA research, highlighting the development of research areas over time and identifying pockets of active research as well as prospective paradigm shifts. The research reveals key publications that have significantly influenced the course of RPA research by looking at citation networks. The results of this bibliometric analysis enable scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to develop a more detailed grasp of the RPA research landscape in business. This study provides a roadmap for future research directions in robotic process automation by identifying research gaps and emerging trends in business management.

VISUALISING TRENDS AND PATTERNS OF THREE DECADES OF RESEARCH ON MILLET PRODUCTION IN INDIA: A SCIENTOMETRICS ANALYSIS

This study analyses three decades of Millet Production research in India (1989-2023) with a Scientometrics approach, visualizing trends and patterns in scholarly output. India is the worlds largest producer of millet, with significant regional variations in millet cultivation. Major contributing states include Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. Scientometrics analysis, carried out on the Web of Science database using VOSviewer software, produced 600 publications with 12,028 citations. Development of millet research was found to be consistent with specific growth beginning after 2012, peaking during the International Year of Millets, 2023. Visualization of collaborative networks indicated the core institutions to be ICRISAT and ICAR. Prominent authors including Kumar A and Kumar S, and journals such as the Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences are also featured in the Table. Keyword analysis showed that the research focus was on pearl millet, which primarily connects to agricultureand nourishment. Co-authorship and co-citation analyses underscore a robust collaborative environment in terms of research spanning several disciplines, concerning agronomy, biotechnology, and sustainable agriculture. This research focuses on the millet production research arena concerning food security, sustainable agricultural practices, and environmental challenges.

Consumer-Focused Financial Innovation and Marketing Strategies: A Three Decades Multidimensional Study Using Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and Bibliometric Analysis

This study examines how financial innovation affects consumer attitudes toward the use of technology in financial products and services. This study uses a bibliometric technique to analyze 34 years of publications from 1989 to 2023 on marketing strategies and financial innovations. Data were extracted from the Scopus and Dimensions databases to perform coauthorship and co-occurrence analyses. The VOSviewer software package, version 1.6.16, was used to analyze the data and analyzed the publications by identifying the most prominent journals, authors, articles, countries, keywords, citations, subject areas, and content analysis. The results show that innovation is the most trending keyword, followed by sustainable development, in the past 34 years. Moreover, the United States is in the first position, with most publications related to the field of financial innovation and marketing strategies, and ‘Marketing Strategy’ is a trending research topic in this field. The findings of this study will help policymakers in industries and government agencies take up financial innovations in distinct untapped areas and develop marketing strategies for the full development of the economy.

A bibliometric review of research on English as a medium of instruction (EMI), 1974–2022

ABSTRACT This bibliometric review employs science mapping to trace the development of the EMI-related literature and obtained 1378 relevant Scopus-indexed documents published between 1974 and 2022. The study uses co-author analysis, coupling analysis and co-occurrence analysis to reveal the co-authorship network, the most prolific authors, and the most commonly researched EMI topics. The result reveals a rapidly growing publication trajectory since the 2000s when global internationalisation became prominent. However, the overall outgrowth reaches a modest comfort. While this literature is worldwide in scope, publications in four countries – the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Spain, and the United States – provided the most significant publications. Authors with the most publications and citations also come from these countries.

A Review and Bibliometric Analysis of Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Noise Studies Between 2015 and 2024

Unmanned aerial systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, have gained widespread use due to their affordability and versatility across various domains, including military, commercial, and recreational sectors. Applications such as remote sensing, aerial imaging, agriculture, firefighting, search and rescue, infrastructure inspection, and public safety have extensively adopted this technology. However, environmental impacts, particularly noise, have raised concerns among the public and local communities. Unlike traditional crewed aircraft, drones typically operate in low-altitude airspace (below 400 feet or 122 m), making their noise impact more significant when they are closer to houses, people, and livestock. Numerous studies have explored methods for monitoring, assessing, and predicting the noise footprint of drones. This study employs a bibliometric analysis of relevant scholarly works in the Web of Science Core Collection, published from 2015 to 2024, following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) data collection and screening procedures. The International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, Aerospace Science and Technology, and the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America are the top three preferred outlets for publications in this area. This review unveils trends, topics, key authors and institutions, and national contributions in the field through co-authorship analysis, co-citation analysis, and other statistical methods. By addressing the identified challenges, leveraging emerging technologies, and fostering collaborations, the field can move towards more effective noise abatement strategies, ultimately contributing to the broader acceptance and sustainable integration of UASs into various aspects of society.

Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning in Stock Prediction: A Bibliometric Review

Artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning (DL) are advancing in stock market prediction, attracting the attention of researchers in computer science and finance. This bibliometric review analyzes 525 articles published from 1991 to 2024 in Scopus-indexed journals, utilizing VOSviewer software to identify key research trends, influential contributors, and burgeoning themes. The bibliometric analysis encompasses a performance analysis of the most prominent scientific contributors and a network analysis of scientific mapping, which includes co-authorship, co-occurrence, citation, bibliographical coupling, and co-citation analyses enabled by the VOSviewer software. Among the 693 countries, significant hubs of knowledge production include China, the US, India, and the UK, highlighting the global relevance of the field. Various AI and DL technologies are increasingly employed in stock price predictions, with artificial neural networks (ANN) and other methods such as long short-term memory (LSTM), Random Forest, Sentiment Analysis, Support Vector Machine/Regression (SVM/SVR), among the 1399 keyword counts in publications. Influential studies such as LeBaron (1999) and Moghaddam (2016) have shaped foundational research in 8159 citations. This review offers original insights into the bibliometric landscape of AI and DL applications in finance by mapping global knowledge production and identifying critical AI methods advancing stock market prediction. It enables finance professionals to learn about technological developments and trends to enhance decision-making and gain market advantage.
