CHEMICAL AND ENGINEERING NEWS devotes most of this issue to a review of the Pacific coast chemical process industries. Both those readers who plan to attend the first Pacific Coast Chemical Exposition and the Pacific Coast Industrial Conferences, sponsored by the California Section of the AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY in San Francisco's Civic Auditorium during the week of Oct. 21, and those who for one reason or another cannot be present will find in this symposium a wealth of information. In April of this year one of the publication's associate editors, Merritt L. Kastens, was given the assignment of securing the services of a group of outstanding chemists and chemical engineers on the Pacific Coast to report on the status of the more important chemical process industries in that section of the country.
