We analyze available methods for the determination of the polarization potentials of metal structures in electrically conducting media. The structure and principles of operation of the new equipment aimed at measuring the constant and alternative electric voltages and at finding the polarization potential with removing the Ohmic component are described. As advantages of this equipment, we can mention the improvement of monitoring of the cathodic protection of metal structures. We present an example of its application for the purposes of diagnostic inspections of the state of active and passive corrosion protection of underground pipelines and demonstrate wide possibilities of application of the proposed equipment under field conditions.
