Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of TDP combined with topical capsaicin cream in treatment of joint pain or swelling in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis.Methods 80 patients with active rheumatoid arthritis were divided into observation group(n=40)and control group(n=40)randomly.In the observation group,TDP,capsaicin and slow acting antirheumatic drugs(methotrexate+sulfasalazine)were given.The routine antirheumatic drugs were given in the control group.The two groups were both given routine nursing.Tender joint count,swollen joint count,morning stiffness,nurse global assessment,patients global assessment,erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)and C-reactive protein(CRP)were observed.Simultaneously,the adverse reactions were recorded.Results All the indices had been improved significantly after treated in both groups(P<0.01).The indices in observation group were better than those in control group(P<0.05).Severe adverse reactions was not occurred in the two groups.Conclusions TDP combined with capsaicin cream is effective and safe in treatment of joint pain or swelling in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis.It can alleviate joint pain or swelling and improve joint function.
