For a method for evaluating the economic integration of peri-urban space. Case study Mitidja of Algiers, Algeria

The peri-urban area poses a complex challenge, acknowledged for its diverse morphologies and temporalities. This article aims to provide a tool for understanding this area better and to assess the integration or exclusion of the Mitidja peri-urban area in the territorial dynamics of the Algiers metropolitan area. Geomatics and multi-criteria decision support tools, employing the AHP method and geographic information systems, were utilized. The analysis assessed the relative economic contribution considering variables like distance, population, industry, trade, and services. Results revealed significant economic roles played by certain peri-urban municipalities, challenging preconceived notions about their limited economic impact and exclusion from the Algiers metropolitan area. The research analysis clearly shows that peri-urbanization is constantly expanding, with peri-urban municipalities evolving under the shadow of the economic, social and environmental transformations of the Algiers metropolitan region.

AHP-CRITIC-TOPSIS-based analysis of the influence of young people’s preferences on the design of Funan wicker home products

Wicker home products, handcrafted from sustainable materials such as willow, vine, and bamboo, embody principles of sustainable development. However, they face a lack of clear appeal among young consumers in the Chinese market. This study utilizes the AHP-CRITIC-TOPSIS method to examine user preferences for Funan Wicker home products to enhance the original products based on young users’ choices in the contemporary era. Using the AHP method, 14 evaluation indicators were selected across three key factors and determined subjective weights. Objective weights were calculated using the CRITIC method to establish a comprehensive ranking. Subsequently, the TOPSIS method was employed to evaluate and order the nine design alternatives. The findings highlight a strong emphasis on emotional criteria in the evaluation process, with variables such as Weaving Fineness, Stress Release, Pleasure, and Cultural Value significantly influencing user preference. According to the calculations, the program IX with the highest proximity emerged as the optimal choice. Based on these results, the study refines design focus and quantitative indexes for willow home product designers, proposing innovative design methods that offer theoretical support and practical guidance for the development of willow products in Funan, China.

Analysis of PM10 Substances via Intuitionistic Fuzzy Decision-Making and Statistical Evaluation

Air pollution is a situation that negatively affects the health of humans and all living things in nature and causes damage to the environment. The most important cause of air pollution is the amount and density of substances called “particulate matter” above guidelines. Particulate matter (PM) are mixed liquid droplets and solid particles with advective diameters less than 2.5 μm (PM2.5—fine particles) and between 2.5 and 10 μm (PM2.5–10—coarse particles). PM10 is defined as one that can remain in the air for a long time and settle in the respiratory tract, damaging the lungs. It is important to identify the underlying causes of air pollution caused by PM10. In this context, these criteria need to be evaluated to minimize the negative effects of PM10. In the study, monthly average PM10 data obtained from the Air Quality Monitoring Station in Kocaeli, Türkiye, between 2017 and 2023 are used. After determining the criteria for PM10, the criteria are prioritized with the Intuitionistic Fuzzy AHP (IF-AHP) method by taking decision-maker opinions. The proposed decision-making model aims to guide obtaining and focusing on the important causes of out-of-limit and dangerous PM10 concentrations in the air. Additionally, PM10 data is analyzed in the context of COVID-19 and a statistical analysis is conducted. One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) is used to evaluate whether there is a significant difference in average monthly data over the years. The Games–Howell test, one of the post-hoc tests, is used for determining differences between groups (years). In addition, monthly PM10 values for the future are estimated using the Expert Modeler tool in the software IBM® SPSS® Statistics 22. The study is important in that it provides a focus on the criteria affecting PM10 with an intuitionistic fuzzy perspective, along with statistical analysis.

A New Approach to Detect Driver Distraction to Ensure Traffic Safety and Prevent Traffic Accidents: Image Processing and MCDM

One of the factors that threaten traffic safety and cause various traffic problems is distracted drivers. Various studies have been carried out to ensure traffic safety and, accordingly, to reduce traffic accidents. This study aims to determine driver-distraction classes and detect driver violations with deep learning algorithms and decision-making methods. Different driver characteristics are included in the study by using a dataset created from five different countries. Weight classification in the range of 0–1 is used to determine the most important classes using the AHP method, and the most important 9 out of 23 classes are determined. The YOLOv8 algorithm is used to detect driver behaviors and distraction action classes. The YOLOv8 algorithm is examined according to performance-measurement criteria. According to mAP 0.5:0.95, an accuracy rate of 91.17% is obtained. In large datasets, it is seen that a successful result is obtained by using the AHP method, which is used to reduce transaction complexity, and the YOLOv8 algorithm, which is used to detect driver distraction. By detecting driver distraction, it is possible to partially avoid traffic accidents and the negative situations they create. While detecting and preventing driver distraction makes a significant contribution to traffic safety, it also provides a significant improvement in traffic accidents and traffic congestion, increasing transportation efficiency and the sustainability of cities. It also serves sustainable development goals such as energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

Model for Assessing Engineering Competencies of Logistics Specialists in Transport Organisations

Abstract In today’s dynamic, technology-driven, and diverse world of knowledge society, transport organisations should purposefully analyse and assess their operations since they often have to face problems emerging from the lack of knowledge and competencies of logistics specialists. The engineering competencies of logistics specialists are highly appreciated in transport systems. However, the selection of assessment criteria and determination of its importance is a difficult task for managers in this sector. Thus, it is reasonable to apply the multi-criteria methodologies, such as SAW, AHP, MOORA, and VIKOR, whilst determining the importance of criteria describing the competencies of logistics specialists in a transport organisation. Applying the multi-criteria methods provides prerequisites for an objective, precise, and the least time-consuming way to evaluate the engineering competencies of logistics specialists. The analysis of the results enables the most suitable decisions to utilise the significant potential of logistics specialists. The article examines the problem areas for evaluating the competencies of logistics specialists. The current paper presents the evaluation of logistics specialists’ competencies based on the methodology used to determine the importance of criteria (SAW and AHP methods). Additionally, further recommendations are suggested to effectively manage certain corrections on competencies in transport organisations under investigation.

Simplified Methodology for Assessing River Carrying Capacity Based on Land-Use Types

Land conversions or land use changes also become the main cause of the decline in Citarum River conditions. The relationship between river sustainability and its watershed carrying capacity plays a vital role in protecting watersheds to implement sustainable water resources management. Previous studies on river assessment for watershed management have predominantly focused on specific hydrological and/or technical results, rather than considering the process of the development of carrying capacity methodology due to land-use types. Motivated by this fact, the objective of this study is to develop a simplified carrying capacity methodology due to land-use types for sustainable river management by selecting the Upper Citarum Watershed (a main part of Citarum Watershed) located in West Java Province, Indonesia as an example of a study area. The conceptual framework development for watershed carrying capacity due to land-use types was designed the step-by-step methodology standard regarding the sustainable river management. The methodology of this study also used AHP method consisting of screening and selecting attributes, transforming and developing sub-indices, assigning weights, and formulating a runoff cumulative (Ccum) to examine standards and criteria for carrying capacity classification due to the changes of land-use types. The analysis revealed a significant change in the proportions of the various land use types of the study area. The conclusion is it integrates the measures of selected important land-use types to create a single dimensionless number of runoff cumulative and its classification, and a modified approach to communicate information on river status to the public and related policy makers. To advance future studies, it is necessary to develop a comprehensive evaluation and monitoring systems by using GIS-based spatial and temporal analysis.

Determination of the Change of Agricultural Landscapes Based on CORINE Land Cover Agricultural Land Classes Using GIS and Visual Quality Value with the AHP Method: The Case of Tekı̇rdağ Province

Agricultural landscapes contribute positively to the visual texture of the city and change over time. In this context, this study aims to determine the visual landscape quality of agricultural landscapes based on parameters on expert approach the hypothesis; it is important and necessary to determine the visual landscape values based on the change in agricultural landscapes over time. Within the framework of the developed hypothesis, it aims to make an expert-based visual landscape assessment of the agricultural landscapes of Tekirdağ Province, located in the northwestern part of Türkiye, based on nine subclasses created according to the CORINE land cover (CLC) classes, on the basis of 4 main parameters. Using the AHP technique, the priorities of the parameters and agricultural landscape classes and the relationships between basic parameters and visual preferences were determined. In this direction, the questions; What are the priorities of parameters that are effective in determining the visual quality of agricultural landscapes on the basis of expert approach?; What kind of changes have occurred in agricultural landscapes during the years 1990-2000-2006-2012-2018 in 9 subclasses created according to the CLC classes? and; How should the visual landscape quality values of the agricultural landscape subclasses created according to the CLC classes be ranked? The results of the study can be used as a tool in landscape planning and management studies as a factor in strengthening landscape quality.

Considering the effect of non-landslide sample selection on landslide susceptibility assessment

Crafting landslide susceptibility mapping is pivotal for the effective management of landslide risks. However, the influence of non-landslide sample selection on the modeling performance of landslide susceptibility assessment models remains a crucial challenge to overcome. This article employs Huize County as the research area and identifies 12 factors that exert influence. In this study, we utilized Extreme Gradient Boosting and Random Forest algorithms, and four methods (Whole-area random selection method, Buffer method, Frequency Ratio method, and Analysis Hierarchy Process) were employed to select non-landslide samples for constructing the landslide susceptibility assessment model. The findings revealed that the model performance derived from different non-landslide sample selections exhibited significant variations, and the models obtained using the buffer zone method, frequency ratio method, and AHP method performed better than the full-area random selection model. Among the evaluated models, the AHP method for non-landslide sample selection demonstrated the most optimal performance, with an AUC of 92.17% for XGBoost-AHP and 91.64% for RF-AHP. Based on the SHapley Additive explanation (SHAP), the main variables impacting landslide danger in the research area were elevation, NDVI, and peak seismic acceleration. This study provides theoretical support for the selection of non-landslide samples in landslide susceptibility assessments and interpretable AI research.

The Application of AHP on Selected 100 Islamic Economics and Finance Research

This study tries to review the application of research using the Analytic Network Process method in the theme of Islamic economics and finance. It uses descriptive statistical analysis based on selected 100 article publications. The entire sample publications have been published from 2008 to 2019. The results show that research using the AHP method is still dominated by discussing themes related to Islamic banks, the Halal industry, and Islamic social finance such as waqf, zakat, and Islamic microfinance. The countries with the most AHP case studies are Indonesia and Malaysia. Aam Slamet Rusydiana and Nurul Huda is the author who the most researched about AHP. The software most often used in the AHP method is expert choice. Structure of Public Passenger Transport Lines in the Region of Prešov in Slovakia to Support the Development of an Integrated Transport System

In the framework of sustainable development, the most important goal in the transport sector is sustainable mobility. It is necessary to improve the quality of the means of transport and the organisation of their operation in transport systems in addition to the management systems, coordination, and integration of individual types of transport. The aim of this paper is to propose a complex system of public transport lines in the region to achieve an effective transport service, in accordance with the principles of sustainable mobility, supporting the development of an integrated transport system. This research presents a proposal for the public transport lines of the region of Prešov in Slovakia, which is currently connected to an integrated transport system (IDS Východ). The proposal is defined by the tracing and functions of the lines, the mode of transport and headways on individual lines, the necessary number of vehicles for the operation of individual lines, transfer times at relevant points and directions, and the border of the radius of attractive daily commuting to the centre of the region, as well as a rough timetable for each line. Using an analytical hierarchical process (AHP method), we determine the two most suitable variants of traffic services. The results indicate that based on the multicriteria evaluation of these variants using descriptors, it is possible to determine the optimal variant of the transport service of the region, which will be introduced into a functional integrated transport system.

Urban flooding simulation and flood risk assessment based on the InfoWorks ICM model: A case study of the urban inland rivers in Zhengzhou, China.

Urban flooding intensifies with escalating urbanization. This study focuses on Xiong'er river as the study area and couples a 1D/2D urban flooding model using InfoWorks ICM (Integrated Catchment Modeling). Ten scenarios are set respectively with a rainfall return period of 5a 10a, 20a, 50a, and 100a, alongside rainfall durations of 1 and 24 h. Subsequently, the H-V (hazard-vulnerability) method was applied to evaluate urban flooding risk. Three indicators were selected for each of hazard factors and vulnerability factors. The relative weight values of each indicator factor were calculated using the AHP method. The result shows that (1) flood depth, rate, and duration escalate with longer rainfall return periods, yet decrease as the duration of rainfall increases; (2) as the rainfall return period lengthens, the proportion of node overflow rises, whereas it diminishes with longer rainfall durations, leading to an overall overloaded state in the pipeline network; and (3) the distribution in the research area is mainly low-risk areas, with very few extremely high-risk. Medium to high-risk areas are mainly distributed on both sides of the river, in densely built and low-lying urban areas. This study demonstrates that the model can accurately simulate urban flooding and provide insights for flood analyses in comparable regions.

Assessing collaboration performance of NGOs by a decomposed Fuzzy approach utilizing AHP and COPRAS methods: Turkiye case

With the increase in disasters that cause the loss of life and property of countless people in recent years, it has become essential for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to work collaboratively and evaluate their performances. In order to assess the effectiveness of NGOs' collaboration in disaster management, the SERVQUAL model, which measures service quality and has applications in numerous fields, has been updated to reflect the demands of the modern age. The sub-criteria under the five main criteria have also been updated. This study makes use of Decomposed Fuzzy (DF) approaches, which may mitigate the language scale ambiguities that experts have when making decisions. While the criteria weights are found by the Decomposed Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (DF-AHP) approach, the alternatives are evaluated using the DF-COPRAS method, which combines the DF approach with the COPRAS method for the first time in the literature. The proposed novel model is employed to evaluate the collaboration performance of NGOs in disaster management in Turkiye. Sensitivity analysis and comparative analysis are presented as supplementary analyses of the study.

Cryptocurrency expansion effects on Iran's economy: SWOT-AHP analysis

ABSTRACT Since 2008, when Bitcoin was introduced as the first cryptocurrency, the world has witnessed a rapid growth of cryptocurrencies. Along with the rapid growth of cryptocurrencies, the need for study and research in this field increases. The effects of the expansion of cryptocurrencies on the economy is one of the important challenges in this field. In this paper, the expansion of cryptocurrencies in Iran's economy has been investigated using the SWOT method. The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of cryptocurrencies were examined and presented in the form of a 2 × 2 table. Then, to quantify the results, the AHP method was used and the items specified in the SWOT method were prioritised by using experts' opinions. Finally, the appropriate strategies in this field for Iran's economy were explained.

Research on accident early warning of metallurgical enterprises based on grey DEMATEL/ISM and Bayesian network

To clarify the complex relationship between the factors causing safety accidents in metallurgical enterprises and predict the risk of accidents in enterprises, a correlation analysis model of the factors causing safety accidents in metallurgical enterprises based on grey Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory/Interpretative Structural Modeling (DEMATEL/ISM) was established, and a Bayesian network early warning model was constructed on this basis. The relationship and action path of accident-causing factors in metallurgical enterprises were clarified. The factors were hierarchically divided and a multi-layer hierarchical structure model was established to obtain the neighboring cause, transitional cause, and essential cause of the accident. The results showed that the employee violation rate, the hazardous substances reserves, the toxic gas and dust pollution control compliance rate, the pass rate for equipment maintenance, and the qualification rate of special equipment were the neighboring causes of the accident. The perfection of the safety production management system was the essential cause. The Bayesian network early warning model was applied to the Fuxin Jiuxing Titanium work site. The expected risk probability of an accident was 17.9%, which was in a comparatively safe state (State2). The results obtained by the Bayesian model are consistent with those obtained by AHP and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, which proved the accuracy of the early warning model. The Bayesian model can give the risk probability value of the accident and the risk probability value of the accident cause factors at the same time, and include the causal relationship and conditional correlation relationship among the indicator variables in the reasoning process, which can provide targeted technical support for the construction of the emergency system of risk classification management and control.

Comparison of reinforcement fibers in 3D printing mortars using multi-criteria analysis

3D concrete printing (3DCP) has developed rapidly in recent years, with a relatively high amount of mortars emerging apt for 3D printing. Some of these mortars include fibers to improve their strength. Despite mechanical properties having been quite well studied, there still is missing information on cost, printability, and environmental impacts. The objective of this research is to select the best mortars with fibers considering four criteria: printability, mechanical strength, and economic and environmental impact applying a multi-criteria decision-making analysis (MCDMA). Seven types of fibers with different dosages were assessed in the reinforced mortars: zylon, aramid, carbon, glass, cellulose, textile, and polypropylene. AHP method and equal weights were used as ponderation techniques of the criteria while WASPAS and TOPSIS methods were used to calculate the rankings of the MCDMA. Printability was measured through rheological tests using a rotational rheometer, mechanical strength through flexural tests at 28 days based on EN 196–1, and cost just considering the materials and environmental impact through a life cycle assessment (LCA). The results showed that 13-mm-long glass fibers with a content of 0.1% were the best alternative, closely followed by the mortar with 6 mm cellulose fibers with a content of 0.05%. For the best option (G13;0.1), the increments in the printability index, flexural strength, cost, and LCA were − 14.37%, 16.70%, 5.88%, and 2.86%, respectively. It can also be concluded that high elastic modulus fibers (zylon and aramid), although able to increase significantly the flexural strength (up to 30% in the case of zylon), prevent them from being an optimal solution due to their high cost.

Analisis Penerapan Metode Analytical Network Process (ANP) Pada Pemilihan Tempat Kost Terbaik di Daerah Kampus ITK

The Analytic Network Process (ANP) method is an approach that can be used to represent the level of importance from various parties by considering the interconnected relationships between criteria and sub-criteria. This model is a development of the AHP method, thus it has a higher level of complexity compared to the AHP method. In this paper, the issue addressed is the selection of the best boarding house location in the ITK campus area located at Km. 15 Karang Joang, North Balikpapan. This selection is done using the super decision software, aiming to determine the ranking order of boarding houses that have the best quality or alternatives according to the students of the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) through questionnaire filling and interviews with the students. There are three criteria used in this selection, first is the distance with sub-criteria of distance from the boarding house to the campus and distance from the boarding house to the city. Second, the price criterion with sub-criteria of monthly rent and electricity-water costs, and others. Third, the facilities criterion with sub-criteria of bathroom, parking, and kitchen. As for the alternatives, 10 boarding houses are used. Based on the research results, the alternative solutions obtained are ranked in the top 3 boarding houses. The first is Kos Maghfiroh, the second is Kos Hira, and the third is Kos Griya Mansur

Supplier Selection of Salt Industry With AHP and Topis Method

Purpose: This study aims to identify the criteria for selecting salt suppliers and propose a supplier selection framework so that the salt industry can buy raw materials according to the specified standards and prices. Theoretical reference: This research synthesizes supplier selection criteria from the literature. Method: A decision-making framework for supplier selection was constructed by integrating the AHP with TOPSIS. Data were gathered via interviews with salt industry professionals and from observations of salt manufacturing and the supply chain. The weight of the criteria for selecting the salt supplier was determined through the use of questionnaires that utilized the AHP and TOPSIS methodology. Result and Conclusion: The findings of this study offer the Salt Industry valuable insights into the factors that should be considered when selecting suppliers, such as Quality, Service, Delivery, Flexibility, and Responsiveness. The AHP method's outcome indicates that the criterion with the highest ranking is quality. The results suggest that the criteria are ranked in descending order of importance, with quality having the highest weight, followed by delivery, responsiveness, flexibility, and service. Supplier A, with the highest ranking, has been chosen. Implications of research: The framework developed in this article uses only five criteria and was validated on one salt company. Further research can be continued by adding new criteria and validated in several salt industries. The algorithm and the output of this research are expected to be used as inputs in the design of the digital supply chain of the salt industry. Moreover, the management can use this method to choose raw material suppliers based on quality, service, delivery, flexibility, and responsiveness. Most producers of salt raw materials in Indonesia are salt farmers, most of whom still use traditional salt production and storage methods. It is hoped that the results of this research can provide information to salt suppliers, including salt farmers, about the criteria that must be met so that the salt produced can be immediately sold to the salt industry. Originality/value: This study develops a supplier selection system designed for the salt business, which has significant importance in Indonesia. The literature study results from this study are anticipated to provide valuable insights for academics researching supplier selection. This research can be furthered by examining the impact of this supplier decision on the performance of the Salt supply chain, extending from upstream to downstream.

Analysis of Asset Management (Land and Building) At Belu Regency Dams in East Nusa Tenggara Province-Indonesia

Dams are government asset that possess many important resources because it has great influence and able to help in fulfilling the community necessities. Asset management covers aspects of necessity planning or budgeting, procurement, usage, utilization, security or asset maintenance, valuation, transfer or asset hand over, demolition, deletion, administration, guidance, supervision, control, compensation and sanctions to make sure the government assets can be used optimally in appropriate manner for the community. In the East Timur Dam Management Unit (Belu Regency) at areas of river of Nusa Tenggara II, there were several cases and problems identified at Haekrit Dam, Haliwen Dam and Rotiklot Dam. Analysis of methodology applied in this study is Analytic Hierarchy Process or AHP method, a structured multi-criteria decision-making procedure. AHP is a flexible model which allows the user to make decisions by combining considerations and personal values in a logical way. AHP is used to examine problems starting from a careful act to define the problem and then arranging the problems into a hierarchy consisted of several levels of objectives, criteria and alternatives. The result of this study found there are three main indicators in managing the government land and building assets as listed to be: (1) Property Users managing the regional property in accordance with their duties and has a value of 0.0995; (2) Inventory is held or becomes the responsibility of the property users and obtained a value of 0.0833; and (3) regional property planning becomes the basis for preparing RKBMD and obtained a value of 0.0762. In summary, the research implication is addressed to the government employees who are responsible for the asset management that need to be provided with technical guidance on a regular basis, and those individuals that in charge of the assets should be competent and professional also able to engage active coordination for securing the regional assets.

Integrated remote sensing and geographic information system overlay analysis for groundwater potential evaluation using AHP and fuzzy AHP: Southern sections of the western Afar rift margin and associated rift floor

A persistent drought commonly affects the southern sections of the western Afar rift margin and the associated rift floor, leaving the populace concerned about their access to food. A comprehensive assessment and usage of the local groundwater resource is therefore essential to overcoming the ongoing drought and meeting the area's increasing demand for sustainable water. With the aid of RS, GIS, AHP, and Fuzzy AHP methods, this study aims to assess the area's groundwater potential. Lineament density, Geology,Topographic Wetness Index (TWI), Recharge, Slope, Land Use and Land Cover, Soil, and Drainage Density were created using GIS and RS techniques and are the thematic layers taken into consideration for this purpose. The weight of these themes for their relative significance to groundwater occurrence was determined using AHP and Fuzzy AHP (FAHP). Lineament density is the primary factor influencing the presence of groundwater, followed by geology, TWI, and recharge. The Very low (221.48 km2), Low (9084.46 km2), Moderate (8281.96 km2), High (1441.65 km2), and Very High (102.45 km2) groundwater potential zones (GWPZs) were delineated using the GIS-overlay analysis technique. The validation of the groundwater potential zone map was completed using the well discharge, transmissivity, and specific capacity, and the scatter plot demonstrated a strong connection with R2 values of 0.81, 0.79, and 0.80, respectively. The sensitivity index (SI) shows that lineament density and geology, which have SI values of 2.08% and 1.74%, respectively, have the greatest influence on the distributions of groundwater potentiality in the catchment, while drainage density has the least influence, with a SI value of −0.89%. By ensuring sustainable management and development, the study's findings will help with decision-making for the long-term supply of groundwater. Additionally, the approach utilized in the study can be applied to other comparable arid to semiarid regions.
